    Dear Doctor, I have been taking niacin nicotinic acid 500mg flush almost daily a few months now. It's like im aging backwards!! To be frank i never had wrinkles and my skin is naturally elastic but this stuff makes me feel like a teenager! I am looking younger than i did at 19. This is the best kept secret. I started taking it for high blood pressure to prevent CVD but OMG i will never stop! The flush is uncomfortable but doesnt last long and when i stick to it daily it is very mild. I can feel the blood rushing where its needed, especially the head and neck, arms and even my genitals and anus. They keep this a secret cos it's the cheapest route to optimal health! The only side effect was intense period pains that took me back to my teenage years but as soon as i took my chinese herbs (that got rid of all period pain and other issues yeArs ago) that went away too. It's the increased prostaglandins that caused it but i balanced that out with the chinese stuff.

      Those are simply marketing terms. Look at the Supplement Facts label on the back to find out what form of niacin it is. And then compare that my "Side Effects" section in the above video.

    Therapeutic doses of Niacin for hyperlipidaemia have pro oxidant properties rather than antioxidant and increases undesirable homocysteine and decreases important vitamins B1,B6,B9 & B12 these should be taken together to prevent an imbalance.

    I started taking Niacin 100mg, 4x a day a few days ago. On the 3rd day I started getting muscle pains in my legs and then my arms and back too on the fourth day. Stopped taking and pain is gone. This seems to be a rare effect. Too bad I was hopeful for the benefits :(

    Question: How much mg Inositol hexanicotinate (IH) should I take minimum to maximum to have a sufficient benefit while avoiding liver damage? I don’t have liver damage but a bit NAFLD, like so many.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  5 месяцев назад

      I have not come across any studies showing liver damage from using Inositol hexanicotinate. But like any supplement it does not make any sense to over dose. There is no benefit to use more than the recommended dose. For IH, I suggest 500 mg 3-times per day.

    I've tried both flushing and non flushing. I love the flush but I do not get the immediate relief to my RA as I do from the Non flushing version. I feel quick relief from niacinamide 500mg within an hour or two. Is there anything i should be careful with taking this twice a day. I also have a naturopath and a rheumatologist but neither really have much say on the niacinamide

    • @NootropicsExpert

      You can use up to 3 grams per day of Niacinamide.

    How do you figure how much?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  5 месяцев назад +4

      It depends on the individual. We know which form of niacin has an upper limit to reach toxicity. And this works for 'most' people. But each of us is different.
      To be on the side you'll get all the niacin your system needs at 50 mg twice per day or regular niacin.

  • @XenoTravis

    I have this brand for extended release that is in a "wax matrix" to slowly release like you mentioned. I did not know the slow release is bad for the liver. The dose isn't high. I also thought the flush free form is not the same.
    Isn't the flushing a benefit for some issues? Just maybe not in such a way where you physically itch.
    This was info half from the Paul stamets people and nootropic community. I don't really trust Paul stamets anymore after a lot of his theories didn't add up.
    So what niacin form and dose would you suggest for people with sleep issues due to depression or anxiety?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  5 месяцев назад +7

      I personally use 500 mg niacinamide 3-times per day and it works for me. And I have liver issues that are genetic so keep an eye on my numbers. So far this form has not been a problem.

  • @Moni-ui5bz
    @Moni-ui5bz Месяц назад

    Wow, the therapeutic amount is insane. 4gr?! I took one 500mg capsule Niacin. 5 hours after taking it, I got the most intense flush. Whole body flush, tingling, my face was almost purple. The clothes on my body hurt, I was worried to get a heart attack from it. It lasted 2h. When it started to subside, I got uncontrollable shivering, I had to wrap myself into a blanket. This lasted about half an hour. With this reaction I don't think I could do this several times a day, I would not be able to function.
    So using a lower dosage does not work for any of the Niacin benefits? It's either high dosage or nothing?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  26 дней назад

      It depend on what you are using it for. You could use a higher dose of niacinamide and get all the benefits of Niacin but without the flush.

      @NootropicsExpert  5 месяцев назад +3

      Julian, 500 mg of niacin up to 3-times per day are safe for 'most' people. But recent studies have found that even 500 mg is not safe for some people. So best to keep a close eye and monitor your liver numbers just to be safe.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  5 месяцев назад +4

      Inositol hexanicotinate (IH) is an “extended-release niacin” sold as “Flush Free Niacin” and has 6 molecules of niacin covalently bonded to one molecule of inositol. The IH version of niacin does not produce a flushing effect. Studies show that an average of 70% of the dose you take gets absorbed by your body.
      Studies show that the benefits to lowering bad cholesterol with the IH form of niacin are not nearly as effective as free-from niacin. But user reviews are the opposite of these clinical findings. No toxicity is associated with high doses of IH.
