Dear Doctor, I have been taking niacin nicotinic acid 500mg flush almost daily a few months now. It's like im aging backwards!! To be frank i never had wrinkles and my skin is naturally elastic but this stuff makes me feel like a teenager! I am looking younger than i did at 19. This is the best kept secret. I started taking it for high blood pressure to prevent CVD but OMG i will never stop! The flush is uncomfortable but doesnt last long and when i stick to it daily it is very mild. I can feel the blood rushing where its needed, especially the head and neck, arms and even my genitals and anus. They keep this a secret cos it's the cheapest route to optimal health! The only side effect was intense period pains that took me back to my teenage years but as soon as i took my chinese herbs (that got rid of all period pain and other issues yeArs ago) that went away too. It's the increased prostaglandins that caused it but i balanced that out with the chinese stuff.
Those are simply marketing terms. Look at the Supplement Facts label on the back to find out what form of niacin it is. And then compare that my "Side Effects" section in the above video.
Kinda weird how my noootrpic stack evolved over time moslty due to your yt vids, Morning, Sulbutiamine - B1, only on work days as you can become dependant Magnesium L-Threonate Lionsmane 2000mg (concentrate with black pepper - definetly not for everyone!), has 30% Polysaccharide Ginko biloba with siberisch ginseng (Eleuthero) NAC Vitamine C (delayed uptake) L-Theanine Ashwganda Creatine Omega 3 Afternoon Sulbutiamine - B1 Magnesium L-Threonate Lionsmane 300mg, has 30% Polysaccharide NAC L-Theanine Ashwganda Creatine Omega 3 Evening Taurine Vitamine D Glycine Malic acid Niacin Omage 3-6-9 (i also use Methelyne Blue in between from an mouth spray bottle) Had an car accident and hit my head hard, had to quit my job at the time. And short version, my docter couldnt help but thanks to all this i got my brain in better shape then it ever used to be. Now i do recognize i might be overdoing it somewhat, but you know im back to work at a different company and.. feeling healthy is just awsome. Just the fact that everything is much easyer to comprehend and i can concentrate better etc etc means im cured of whatever has ailed me and thats just fantastic! Thanks again for this bundle of information! These vids hit all the facets i want to know about when getting to know my next potential nootropic.
Thank you. And you are NOT using "too many" supplements. If it works for you then you are taking exactly what you need to be taking. Your life is all the proof you need.
Therapeutic doses of Niacin for hyperlipidaemia have pro oxidant properties rather than antioxidant and increases undesirable homocysteine and decreases important vitamins B1,B6,B9 & B12 these should be taken together to prevent an imbalance.
I started taking Niacin 100mg, 4x a day a few days ago. On the 3rd day I started getting muscle pains in my legs and then my arms and back too on the fourth day. Stopped taking and pain is gone. This seems to be a rare effect. Too bad I was hopeful for the benefits :(
Thank you, David! My wife and I take 500mg of Inositol Hexaniacinate with TMG before bed. Also, I highly recommend to all the other Nootropics Expert fans, the book "The real Niacin Story" by Abram Hoffer MD.
Hi,i am from Pakistan. All your videos are very informative. I am 52 years old lady .i got blotted after meal.idid fasting but not weight reduction every thing which i do not working for me.evey time bolted. What should i do please 🙏
This channel is about brain health and optimization. I suggest finding a channel that is more specific to the questions you are asking. Because it is not my area of expertise.
Thx for updated info from my favorite Supps n Nootropic man David Tomen! Question: How much mg Inositol hexanicotinate (IH) should I take minimum to maximum to have a sufficient benefit while avoiding liver damage? I don’t have liver damage but a bit NAFLD, like so many.
I have not come across any studies showing liver damage from using Inositol hexanicotinate. But like any supplement it does not make any sense to over dose. There is no benefit to use more than the recommended dose. For IH, I suggest 500 mg 3-times per day.
I've tried both flushing and non flushing. I love the flush but I do not get the immediate relief to my RA as I do from the Non flushing version. I feel quick relief from niacinamide 500mg within an hour or two. Is there anything i should be careful with taking this twice a day. I also have a naturopath and a rheumatologist but neither really have much say on the niacinamide
It depends on the individual. We know which form of niacin has an upper limit to reach toxicity. And this works for 'most' people. But each of us is different. To be on the side you'll get all the niacin your system needs at 50 mg twice per day or regular niacin.
I have this brand for extended release that is in a "wax matrix" to slowly release like you mentioned. I did not know the slow release is bad for the liver. The dose isn't high. I also thought the flush free form is not the same. Isn't the flushing a benefit for some issues? Just maybe not in such a way where you physically itch. This was info half from the Paul stamets people and nootropic community. I don't really trust Paul stamets anymore after a lot of his theories didn't add up. So what niacin form and dose would you suggest for people with sleep issues due to depression or anxiety?
I personally use 500 mg niacinamide 3-times per day and it works for me. And I have liver issues that are genetic so keep an eye on my numbers. So far this form has not been a problem.
Wow, the therapeutic amount is insane. 4gr?! I took one 500mg capsule Niacin. 5 hours after taking it, I got the most intense flush. Whole body flush, tingling, my face was almost purple. The clothes on my body hurt, I was worried to get a heart attack from it. It lasted 2h. When it started to subside, I got uncontrollable shivering, I had to wrap myself into a blanket. This lasted about half an hour. With this reaction I don't think I could do this several times a day, I would not be able to function. So using a lower dosage does not work for any of the Niacin benefits? It's either high dosage or nothing?
Julian, 500 mg of niacin up to 3-times per day are safe for 'most' people. But recent studies have found that even 500 mg is not safe for some people. So best to keep a close eye and monitor your liver numbers just to be safe.
Each time I take it for a while and stop it gets more intense this last one was a lot of Flushing same 500 mg. Is that some kind of indicator of my health or my body just don't like it??? Cut the pill in half and take an ibuprofen. I'm talking about real intense Flushing turn red itching and felt in areas it had reached also on the decline very thirsty.
Tony, I explain the cause of this niacin flush in the video above. This is different from person to person. I get a niacin flush with any dose above 50 mg.
Hi, you are saying to get 25mg per kg for newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes, what does that mean for someone who's 76kg? Is it 25mg for each kg a day, would be 1.900g per day? Or not?
It depends on the form of niacin you are using, Most forms above 1,500 mg per day are toxic to your liver. Use niacinamide or inositol hexanicotinate 500 mg 3-times per day.
Inositol hexanicotinate (IH) is an “extended-release niacin” sold as “Flush Free Niacin” and has 6 molecules of niacin covalently bonded to one molecule of inositol. The IH version of niacin does not produce a flushing effect. Studies show that an average of 70% of the dose you take gets absorbed by your body. Studies show that the benefits to lowering bad cholesterol with the IH form of niacin are not nearly as effective as free-from niacin. But user reviews are the opposite of these clinical findings. No toxicity is associated with high doses of IH.

I love the flush
I'm glad to be the first to comment these time. I just one say thank you very much Dr as usual it's very detailed and informative.
I take niacin specifically and only for the flush ,that increases in blood flow is great for your nerves
I like the niacin flushing.
I'm glad i found you,Sir
Thank you for the upload❤
Welcome!
What about the non flushing form? What is the difference? Thanks for what you do..
You can get the benefits of Niacin by using Niacinamide or Inositol hexanicotinate.
Thank you again
I take NMN daily for its NAD boosting
Excellent
Thank you so Munch I understand why my practitioner has suggested me using this
Thank you for the update. There was a report about a month ago about a connection between Nacin B3 and CHD> Has there been any update regarding this?
I saw it as well. But the article did not point to a peer-reviewed clinical study backing up this guy's claims. There was no "proof".
Prolonged Release or Extended release Niacine are the same or they have deferent effects?
Which Niacin more safe for your liver?
Thank you.

Side note is that when I've taken NR nicotinamide riboside, I never had pain.
The no flush niacin did not help. Only the regular niacin helped my stiff joints and anxiety. Just fyi.
Thank you, David! My wife and I take 500mg of Inositol Hexaniacinate with TMG before bed. Also, I highly recommend to all the other Nootropics Expert fans, the book "The real Niacin Story" by Abram Hoffer MD.
Good information. Thanks for update.

You can use up to 3 grams per day of Niacinamide.
How do you figure how much?
It depends on the individual. We know which form of niacin has an upper limit to reach toxicity. And this works for 'most' people. But each of us is different.
To be on the side you'll get all the niacin your system needs at 50 mg twice per day or regular niacin.

The flush reminds of beta Alanine but I actually enjoy the heat. It’s like I’m sun bathing.
This is one of my go to supplements
Thank you, Sir
You are welcome
The flush makes me itch everywhere and I look sunburned. I have the MTHFR gene and too much histamine.
Hello.. Are there alternatives or natural supplements that have the same effect as SNRIs, norepinephrine inhibitors?
Saffron and Pine Bark Extract.
Wow, the therapeutic amount is insane. 4gr?! I took one 500mg capsule Niacin. 5 hours after taking it, I got the most intense flush. Whole body flush, tingling, my face was almost purple. So using a lower dosage does not work for any of the Niacin benefits? It's either high dosage or nothing?
It depend on what you are using it for. You could use a higher dose of niacinamide and get all the benefits of Niacin but without the flush.
Is 500mg safe for slight to moderate fibrosis of the liver. 500mg of Niacin
Julian, 500 mg of niacin up to 3-times per day are safe for 'most' people. But recent studies have found that even 500 mg is not safe for some people. So best to keep a close eye and monitor your liver numbers just to be safe.
Are there ways to prevent getting diabetes while taking niacin?
The best way I know of to prevent diabetes is 500 mg Berberine 3-times per day. That stopped me from being pre-diabetic.
You should do a video on NR and NMN!
On my "to do" list.
Can you comment on the recent study that indicated niacin was bad for circulatory system?
See my reply to @MS-uz4ix
I’m confused. I should take 4 grams for LDL treatment but more than 3 grams can cause liver toxicity?
Use Inositol hexanicotinate and it's not toxic to your liver.
Hi David, isn't NR Nicotamide Riboside also derived from B3? Is niacin B3 similar in effect regarding ATP production but cheaper?
Yes: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7973386/
Thanks
Welcome

Tony, I explain the cause of this niacin flush in the video above. This is different from person to person. I get a niacin flush with any dose above 50 mg.
You can take a benedryl to calm the flush down but I’d wait until it’s bad enough to feel stressful
What is the recommended niacin dosage?
14:41 Niacin recommended dosage
I break open the 500mg capsules and take 50mg in water. Less flushing.
Which sort of niacin do you recommend ? And how many mg daily ? 16 mg ?? I have diabetes but I dont take any medicine.
You should get most of the benefits of niacin with 50 mg twice per day.
Hi, you are saying to get 25mg per kg for newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes, what does that mean for someone who's 76kg? Is it 25mg for each kg a day, would be 1.900g per day? Or not?

I hate the flush. It kills me.
I thought you said it increased liver detox but then you kept saying it is liver toxic in the therapeutic range?
Josh, listen carefully because I detailed which forms of niacin are toxic to your liver at a specific dose.
What about reports of high levels of niacin causing possible cardiovascular issues, as well as, liver issues.
See my reply to @MS-uz4ix
There was a recent study showing a large increase in heart diseases with regular use of couple hundred mg niacin due to its metabolites.
See my reply to @MS-uz4ix
Nicotine? 🤔

What about flush free 500mg niacin from NOW?
It sounds like he's giving the ok for this version

@@NootropicsExpertI have perfect cholesterol levels
Can I take niacin if I take nitric oxide tablets? If I stop my statin will the niacin do as well?
I'm not a doctor to cannot recommend taking your statin or not. But some do use Niacin to manage blood pressure.
