    Started following your advice with my new yard last year and it looks great.

      I'm so happy to hear that!!! I give the advice, but you still have to get out there and do the work. Nice job getting it done, and now you are reaping the rewards.

    Thanks, Chad! Gonna put some work into the lawn this year. Just put out lesco 24-0-11. Set calendar reminders of when to fertilize. Also, I just bit the bullet and picked up some dismiss nxt, getting serious!

    Great info.
    Sometime go over the calculation used to reach the total 4lb nitrogen per 1000sq ft, for the year.

    Chad, I’m in the Dallas area and trying to figure out if I should keep St Augustine after a 30 foot tree fell last year (which disturbed my lawn) and my sprinkler system was jacked and during this time my neighbors Bermuda have invaded. Right now, it’s probably a 25% mix of st Aug, 50% Bermuda and 25% annual POA and dalis grass (plan would be to rip that out the POA and put st Aug sod in a couple weeks). I’d rather not spend a ton to tear out the entire lawn with Bermuda and start over…I prefer st Aug since I can keep it out of my flowerbeds better. But with all the Bermuda my neighbors have and now in my yard, will it be a constant uphill battle if I don’t do a complete tear out and resod? Prior to the tree falling, the yard had nice thick st Aug for about 28 years….

      Unfortunately, if you do not tear our all of it and re sod everything with St.augustine, it probably won't be very successful in the long run with so much bermuda around it. If you re did the whole thing and kept it thick, that would be the best bet. If you didn't want to do the whole thing St.augustine, then I would do bermuda.

    My St Augustine lawn has some brown patches caused by one of my sprinkler system zones going out without my knowledge in August (while it was 105 for two weeks here in Houston) Despite the area getting extra water since, it still looks patchy and hasn’t bounced back as hoped. Any suggestions?

    Hey. I live in Houston with St. Augustine grass. I was recommended to use Nitrophos Fall fertilizer for the fall. It’s 8-12-16. Is that too low Nitrogen? Should I use something else?

    So I'm assuming (by the thumbnail) that you don't recommend the Scott's bonus s for my St. Aug? I'm in Pensacola

      @bettercallchadd  8 месяцев назад +2

      I'm not a fan!! There is too much quick release Nitergeon, and the weed part doesn't work very well. Way better fertilizers out there for our warm season turf.

      Thanks for the reply. Just purchased but haven't thrown down yet. I had the sunnyland 20-0-06 but wasn't sure if it had enough Potassium. I'll look for something comparable to what you mentioned in your video. Thanks for what you do

    • @bettercallchadd
      @bettercallchadd  8 месяцев назад +2

      @cherbert71 that is definitely better because I know it's a slow release. It would be ok using that if you already got it. But next time, definitely a bit more potassium.

      @@cherbert71 I'm in central florida and I really have found sunniland and sta-green to be decent value products as I navigate a normal suburban plot with an extended backyard. St. aug riddled with weeds & some bahia & bermuda. Image for southern lawns broadleaf + the nutsedge (grassy weed) herbicides + sta-green or sunniland nutrients per my soil tests seems to be producing great results. I am about 1 year into rehabbing a st aug lawn that was neglected for 4-5 years atm.

      I have st A. But wild Bermuda is invading. Nothing to buy right now to get it out of my S.A. 😢 suppose in spring I'll put crabby grass killer on it... to prevent.hope it helps...only if neighbors would do same.😅 wind blows seed.

      @bettercallchadd  7 месяцев назад

      I know they are strict in California. If you are able to any of the fertilizer I recommend will work. If you can't use those miliorgnite should do.

    You don’t recommend a fertilizer in the fall/winter that has phosphorus and potassium like a 2 10 10?

    • @bettercallchadd
      @bettercallchadd  7 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely!! I recommend a liquid weed control for better results than a weed and feed.
