You're the only person out of about 50 that I watched that said Zoysia would go dormant before the others. EVERYONE ELSE said it would stay green longer before going dormant. It may take longer to green up in spring, but it's supposed to stay green a month longer than St Augustine when going into fall.
Really?!?! I have no idea why they would say that. It wouldn't make any sense for it to not green up in the spring but staying greener in the fall. It's going into dormancy because of cool temperatures. So you can't have one without the other. I also double-checked my information. The University of Florida says the same thing I do. Very strange that other's would think it would stay greener in the fall.
This video is awesome! I have 2 questions: 1) I just laid down Empire Zoysia in South Florida about 2 weeks ago and looks amazing. When do I fertilize and what NKP Ratio? 2) Would you recommend the liquid spray fertilizers or the Granular?
Use a mixture of mycorrhizal fungi, sea kelp molasses and apply that every 2 days through a water hose and sprayer Ratios Half teaspoon of mycorrhizal fungi 2 teaspoons of kelp 2. Teaspoons of molasses You can also double the amount. It also helps if you order everyday then you can start adding iron to the lawn at a spoon feed ratio
Love your information on zoysia. Could you advise when and what I should put on my new zeon zoysia? It was sodded three weeks ago in July in North Georgia. Just not sure what to put for my first feeding. Thank you in advance. Keep up the great work
I live in zone 8 and have Meyer Zoysia. I have an irrigation system. After a couple of weeks of much milder weather and cool nights, it has warmed up again here, in the 3rd week of Sept. I would like to keep my lawn green, at least relatively close to the first light frost. Can I put a half amount of 16-4-8 down, keep it watered - or another formulation to keep the green as long as possible? In the coming week, my high temps are projected to be around 80. What would you do? Thanks!
i had my front yard sodded with palisades zoysia in may of this year (2024). it looks great, but i don't know if i need to put fall fertilizer down (i've read not to) or if i should put something else, or nothing. i'm in texas, usda plant hardiness zone 8b, texas gardening zone 3. in all honesty, i know NOTHING about grass, or zones, or any of it! just want to take care of the zoysia, it was too $$$ to mess it up! ((all i've done so far is water regularly.)) any info is appreciated.
Had terrible weeds this spring (from winter). was going to put weed killer on my zoysia here in Charlotte, NC in August. I there one better than another?
Our lawn was treated with 32-0-0 and it developed fungus…. Brown spot. We treated with Headway… it is still struggling! We also applied micronutrients and potassium. What can we do now? Help!
Long times and less day. 30 to 50 minutes in full sum zones. Full sun will need 2 to 4 days a week, depending on rainfall. Zoysia drys up very quickly.

You need to wait 30 days and I would a 15 0 15.
Honestly, it doesn't matter. I recommend granuler for homeowners because it's easier to apply.

Do you have to wait until the lawn if fully green before applying fertilizer or can you apply while most of the lawn is green? Great videos.
When most of the lawn is green. I would say around 80% of the lawn is green is a good time.

What weed killer should I use on Zoysia

Mow frequently and let the lawn dry out. Re apply fungicide 14 days after first application.
Great information! What about watering schedules? Swfl area

For clay soils, did you say 15-0-15 and 10-0-10 in summer, or just 10-0-10?
For clay 10 0 10 should be fine. If not happy with results move to 15 0 15.
@@bettercallchadd got it, thanks!
At what rate should you apply the 15-0-15 fertilizer every 45 - 60 days ?
At the lowest rate on the bag.
Does zosyia ever get a deep dark green in Jacksonville, FL? If so how do I get it to ?
Yess!!! Lots of water and apply iron!!
Chelated iron (liquid product), such as Gravity L 12-0-0 5% iron, which also has 12% nitrogen. Quick results!
Can you do more zoysia videos please!
I will do that. I will make a longer video going over everything about Zoysia.
It’s still ok to use winter rye grass throughout the winter over the Zoysia, right?
No.... Don't overseed over zoysia
@@yellowsnowman9157 really?
My soil sample says to do 34 0 0 or 46 0 0 on zoysia. O should not use that?
No. You should use the 15 0 15. That's a bad recommendation from a soil sample.
Can't find any of these fertilizers online to purchase 10-0-10 or 15-0-15? Are they extinct?
What is Zones #?
I live in NJ.

Thanks for the support!!
Where are you sourcing this information? Specifically Zoysia preferring more potassium.
UF/IFAS
All from the University of Florida.
@@bettercallchadd please post/link relevant articles. Studies show increased K is linked to increased disease.
the downside to zoysia? .. i don't see any .. love my zoysia
Heat and sandy soil!!
