    I love Zoysia. I have Emerald Zoysia which is one of the finest bladed varieties. It's so thick that it completely chokes out weeds. It's slower growing than Bermuda and more drought tolerant. I'm located in north Alabama and it grows great here, it does go partially dormant but there is always some green near the dirt line. I mow between 1.5" and 2" but will go as high as 2.5" during periods of extreme heat. It also needs less water than Bermuda.

    Hey Lawn Care Nut, this Dale Andrews talking to you from Lake Charles, LA. You're in Florida I'm sure with all that lush tropical foliage in your yard, some I recognize. In Lake Charles, we're classified as subtropical with a similar climate to yours except we experience a few light freezes typically each winter, almost always in Jan. or Feb. I had a patch of zoysia grass on a small patch of my patio when I lived in Shreveport, LA (northern part the state. It eventually died due to lack of sun. The fence around the patio shaded it a lot of the day. The salesman told me that but I just didn't listen. I ended up putting in some gravel and was happy. Happy gardening to you.
    it can get to be a job, but if you love it, it becomes a "labor of love!"

I highly recommend Zoyisa to anyone even the seed over sod. It's very strong and durable. I can't say enough good things about it. I hope to see more videos about your Zoysia lawn in the future Thanks.

      @tigerblood6823 4 года назад +2

      @@Thelawncarenut Yes, I was fortunate enough to see it grow so fast, but I think it's because it likes the 90 degree heat. I also used a germination blanket and watered it 2 twice a day for 7-10 days and it sprouted quicker than I expected. 7 days actually saw some sprouting going on. After repeating this process for 31 days it took off! I cut back on the watering to once per week. Big difference after 60 days of germination. I'm planning on seeding my front lawn in May 2020. I should post a video on it.

    We just bought a house in Southern CA zone 9b and I'm desperate for some advice about what grass to plant over my existing lawn. I don't know what's on there now; I just know it's not Bermuda, St. Augustine, Tall Fescue or Zoysia. I have two 8.5lb bags of Bermuda but don't think that's what I want. The front lawn is only about 1,000sqft and is mostly full sun. I'm going to dethatch/scarify the entire lawn and fertilize before seeding. We have an ongoing drought here so that's something else I need to keep in mind. Any advice on grass type? Thank you.

I live in Puerto Rico and I have zoysia all around, and after aerator and fertilizer I am still dealing with long patches of very short blades, is like they are smashed to the floor, like having people all year walking on it, but thats not the case. I don't want to cut them with the trimmer because I dont want to hurt it, height is so short that mower does not cut it, just so you can imagine, I have tried even at 1.5" and no cut, these blades are really shashed to the ground. BUT, when you discharge a battery that far its life is significantly shortened so you would have needed a new battery before the season ended anyway.

    I am curious about the Timecutter review. I bought a Timemaster last summer and while it cut down on my mow time it’s hot af here in East Texas and I’m seriously considering getting the Timecutter as well.

      It is a slower grower but once it gets there, it's strong and long.

    You provide great information but I found it extremely hard to continue listening while you talk to your grass

    With a lot of the new smart chargers out these days when your battery is that dead it doesn’t recognize the battery and won’t charge it. Best thing to do is hook the battery up to your car battery with a set of jumper cables to get a little life back into it then hook it up to your charger and it should charge. Little too to try if it happens again.
    Love the videos and keep up the good work!!

    My brother has Zoysia up here in Delaware, and while everyone else is battling summer heat stress, his grass is dominating. Great vid!!!

      yep! and it won't allow weeds to invade either. It's pretty cool up that far north.

    Are you going to try out the mulch kit or bagger for the new Timecutter? We have too many landscape beds where I'm located to use side discharge
