    I worked at one of Canada's busiest airports in the late 80's and 90's. We only used granulated urea to salt taxiways and the runways during the winter. Incredible!! Would melt snow for days if it was just a dusting but would of course cut through ice leaving the runways dry and clear. The best part, the green grass near the areas we dropped the urea were so healthy, green, and lush in the spring.

      correct, even in europe. 25kg (55 lbs) of urea consisting 46% N costs 20 US dollars. So to get 15% solution of N you pay around 0,25 dollar per litre, so roughly 1 US dollar per gallon. In this video 2,5 gallons 15% nitrogen DEF costs 10 dollars. So you get 4 dollars per gallon. So it is here 3,5-4 times cheaper just to mix it yourself.

      If it's a root-absorption herbicide, that can help. But most are foliage absorption. For them, add some liquid dish soap to break down the water's surface tension.
      Urea (DEF or other) can also help with uptake of systemic insecticides such as Imidacloprid.

      @@bobprivate8575 Sounds like a good idea. I'd point out that I used a herbicide with quinclorac, added DEF and citric acid, and that just murdered my crabgrass. As I suspected, after doing the math, the cost of 46-0-0 from my local professional landscape supplier is 37% less than Blue Def and much easier to apply.

    • @shoudoun1234
      @shoudoun1234 3 месяца назад +3

      The number is the percentage 15% nitrogen vs 46% nitrogen. It's just the concentration of nitrogen in the product. There is only a certain amount of nitrogen you want to put on your lawn per 1000sqft. So with the 46-0-0 you would use less product compared to the 15-0-0 to get the desired amount of nitrogen down on your lawn.

      I'm not a fan but it's not an engine killer. It's injected after combustion and into the exhaust. So it's a little late to kill an engine

    what if you have a small lawn with 700 square feet? how much do you put down ?

    • @FogataMexicana
      @FogataMexicana 2 месяца назад

      14.7 ounces of DEF in one gallon of water for 700 square feet. At 21 ounces per 1000 square feet he says at (5:23) that’s 2.1 ounces per 100 square feet. So 10x2.1 = 21 ounces.
      Applying any foliar spray should be done when the sun is low in the sky so early morning or in the evening. Ideally for slower evaporation.
