Good morning Alan. Love to watch your videos and have learned a lot from them. Customer has new St. Augustine sod down for 3 months now. Seems like it doesn’t want to grow like most of our yards. Irrigation is spot on. What would you recommend to help this? No bad spots just not much growth. We are in central Florida just so you know.

I decided I was going to be consistent in following Allyn’s recommendations through his Yard Mastery App utilizing Liquid fertilization and Flagship granular. I’ve now caught up to the professionals and starting to dominate my neighbors. I just follow the yard mastery app and it tells me what product to throw down. I’m spending a whole heck of a lot less money than my neighbors with their professional lawn services. Thank you Allyn.
I did the same down here in WPB. I switched to liquid weed killer and it was a game changer. Allyn has helped me pass my neighbors lawns. Just throwin it down and it shows.
Nice job. A knowledgeable and caring homeowner beats a paid service any day. You know your lawn better than a guy who visits 50 yards a week, and you gotta live with the results.
I live in Texas and put down some fertilizer last week, had some left and overnight the prills became wet as if they were absorbing water? I also "spilt" some on the grass and it definitely burnt a nice little patch lol. Oh and btw don't leave fertilizer on your driveway etc, they leave rust like marks if you don't blow then off right after applying. just some more tips.
Great explanation and knowledge gain. I am a new home owner and added new sod and this video explained everything I needed to know to get started. Thank you very much!
EXCELLENT video, Allyn! Some people "soak" their granules in water and apply them in liquid form. Is that good? The instructions on the packet did not suggest that.

Allyn, want to thank you for your videos. Here's a quick lawn success story from northern Louisiana. Past videos of yours explained how to feed/maintain a lawn for beginners like me using off the shelf brands. My neighbor for 4 years never applied anything, and cut his grass way too low in order to hide the weeds. Then our new HOA kicked in and his weedy bermuda lawn suddenly didn't comply. I started turning it around within a few months with the heaviest recommended dosages of two separate applications of Scott's Triple Action granular, and one heaviest recommended app of Anderson's post-emergent granular with nitrogen, all three were 5-6 weeks apart. Then I hit it with Image weed killer spot spraying to treat the worst spurge and creeping charlie imaginable. While the lawn is about 75% fixed and a ways to go, the improvement is amazing. Yesterday two guys stopped by to ask me what I did. This fall I'm thinking of adding Flagship, a pre-emergent, and an insect control granular. Thank you again for the knowledge you imparted, I would have never had the confidence to thrower down this aggressively, and it has worked.
Allyn, mate me on ocassion turn off the sound and watch ya hands, ell mate ya prolly were a great sock puppeteer! Anyway, great content just had 90 temps here, happy ya set me mind at ease regarding the temps. Cheers mate!

All of a sudden its hot and dry here, some of my front yard is stressing out. Looking for my next fertilizer application, delaying until we get rain. Maybe some 7-0-20 Stress Blend. Normally i would just use the Scotts Summer with bug control. Too much nitrogen, i need my lawn to slow down. I need to start mowing my lawn in reverse, wheel tracks have smothered the grass near fence lines.

I’ve just started a renovation on the lawn, there was too many different grass types, just looked bad and was not consistent in colour even when fertilised so I’m digging it over, levelling it and some decent grass seed and with a bit of luck, I will have a lawn to be proud of. BTW your videos are the best way to end the week.
Excellent info :) we're super restricted here with irrigation, only get to water our lawns once a week up here in Ontario and within specified times during that day. However I'm back to fertilizing and doing what I can to keep it nice for my boys, Keep up the great content.

Allen thanks for the video. Question I'm in the Midwest and when the grass starts to go dorment because of the 99 degree temps it seems silly to fertilize don't you agree as well as water ❓
One thing I am not sure about when a label says 'Don't apply when the temperature is above 85' . Is that ok to apply in the morning when it's cooler but during the day it's going to be 90+?
yes exactly, you would just apply during a cooler part of the day. In these cases, I prefer evening because the temps will stay down for a good 8-10 hours after the app too.

I burned my lawn with Scott's. I'm still learning all of this . What is the rule as you mentioned if your grass is already OK at 90 degrees then the fertilizer won't burn it. what if the lawn is not super bright or maybe a little yellow? Do you still want to fertilize it ? An the amount is a variable too right? How do I know if I have a cool season lawn ? Also please recommend a mild fertilizer maybe slow release?
I’m in Mississippi and just purchased a home. The yard sucks and I want it green! How do I even know where to start. Is it too late in the year to start trying for a green yard that’s free of weeds?
I purchased flagship for the first time this season, I read the instruction, I believe I can only apply it in the spring and fall, I did not use a weed killer, my lawn look awful, I applied first application in April and afterwards lawn looked amazing, I have cool season lawn
Great video Allyn always full of knowledgeable content because of you my lawn is turning around have a long way to go but I can see a difference year to year
Am I still able to throw down granular fert after 06/01? I just aerated, overseeded and spread Scott’s starter lawn then Milorganite on 05/13. Lawn is looking great and I want to continue to treat through the summer.
Right but your grass can handle the hot weather in the Northern states are grass does better in cooler Temps. I have seen with my own eyes that granulars can burn your grass it happened to me. My grass usually looks nice. It was True Green & I was not happy. Scotts was the best I miss there fertilizing service.
Threw down some Stress Blend yesterday. Only thing I wish was changed is make all the prill sizes the same for easier more even spreader feeding. Used my Brinly which is similar to an earth way on #15/16 and had to open and shut multiple times through passes to get to feed evenly and not plug.
Great info LCN. I enjoy cigars and great fertilizers myself. I have Kentucky Blue live in NM average temp 95 degrees. Only used milorganite sod is 2 months old. What blend can I use? I was thinking new lawn starter fertilizer and freedom?
Another fine LCN video. 👍👍 For us cool season lawn types we’re checking out right now and will be going into Summer dormancy. Definitely will be sucking up Nitro when we can. ❤️ that nitro.
I haven’t been able to turn my lawn this green all year. It’s growing like crazy and the blades are thick. But it’s light green and yellow. I have to wait for it to grow to see the dark green. I’d do anything to have it this green
Man your St Aug looks phenomenal. Mine is still struggling from that bad freeze we had in TX but getting there. (Still Top5 in the neighborhood though). This is a do over year.
I would like to see feedback on stimulating growth during the heat can be negative for cool season grasses I have heard this from several turf specialists but would like to know more Detail.
(Cool season grass) I have 3 spots that are stressed , around my leach field vent cover, propane tank access in ground and in front of one of my windows. The heat seems to radiate off those objects… The rest of my lawn looks great and is thick but I want to throw down some summer fert lesco 30-0-10 slow release should I apply it to my non dormant lawn or wait for the stressed spots to perk up?
I’m in South MS and temps are in the mid 90s in June. My soil test came back and my N is4.25, P is 2.91 and K is 7.18. My zoyzia is 1 year old and struggling. The soil test suggested Yard Mastery Starter 12-12-12 and Hi-Step Micros. I also have HumaChar to help the improve to soil condition (lot of clay). Is it okay to use the 12-12-12? The lawn is growing but it’s not even green all over. I did de-thatch and aerate last month and that seems to be helping. (I let it get too long over the last year and there was a ton of dead gras layer).

I’m in Mississippi and just purchased a home. The yard sucks and I want it green! How do I even know where to start. Is it too late in the year to start trying for a green yard that’s free of weeds?
My concern here in Central Texas with fertilizing in July and August is the fungus caused by the nitrogen ?
“ a scared “ ?
lol 🤣👍🏻
So can I apply in the afternoon, and then water in the following morning?
Trying to stick to my water day for water restriction purposes...
I purchased flagship for the first time this season, I read the instruction, I believe I can only apply it in the spring and fall, I did not use a weed killer, my lawn look awful, I applied first application in April and afterwards lawn looked amazing, I have cool season lawn
I live in Texas 8b. What seed would you recommend for st Augustine. Mine is dying and I need a good replacement.
What camera are you using? Video is very clear and vibrant. Great content as always!
I use a GoPro Hero 9. It's an awesome little camera right out of the box.
How many days/weeks between fert application and weed killer application? Thanks!
Beautiful St. Augustine yard Al, grass looks awesome.
This video had me cracking up the whole time. You are the best, Allyn!!
Great info Al. Good to get the record straight on this subject.

Can I apply summer fertilizer when California temps are over 100 degrees ?
We have not had rain for several weeks here in central Maine. No fert until we do.
I'm hearing alot of reports like this right now as far west as Montana.
Why not? No irrigation?

How do I know my lawn is Cool Season? I live in Pleasanton California.
Is it better to use granular or liquid fert during summer months?
I bought a bag of Freedom. I'll do a light application this weekend....
I have some grey leaf spot in my St Augustine. Was planning on azoxystrobin fungicide this week, then 1/2 N next week. What do y’all think?
Am I still able to throw down granular fert after 06/01? I just aerated, overseeded and spread Scott’s starter lawn then Milorganite on 05/13. Lawn is looking great and I want to continue to treat through the summer.
Is the echo your new primary driver?
good stuff explaining how you burn vs not burn. 👍👍
Do you need to water it after applying fertilizer?
Yes
Yes
Which summer (105+ degrees) fertilizer is pet safe in Vegas
Right but your grass can handle the hot weather in the Northern states are grass does better in cooler Temps. I have seen with my own eyes that granulars can burn your grass it happened to me. My grass usually looks nice. It was True Green & I was not happy. Scotts was the best I miss there fertilizing service.
Thanks for flying the Red, White and Blue :-)
Threw down some Stress Blend yesterday. Only thing I wish was changed is make all the prill sizes the same for easier more even spreader feeding. Used my Brinly which is similar to an earth way on #15/16 and had to open and shut multiple times through passes to get to feed evenly and not plug.
Great info LCN. I enjoy cigars and great fertilizers myself. I have Kentucky Blue live in NM average temp 95 degrees. Only used milorganite sod is 2 months old. What blend can I use? I was thinking new lawn starter fertilizer and freedom?
I have had problems keeping my grass alive under shade trees even though I have planted shaded seeds, your recommendations? Thanks
Hi, Is it ok to fertilize woth liquid max green fertliser when temp is 70f?
Another fine LCN video. 👍👍 For us cool season lawn types we’re checking out right now and will be going into Summer dormancy. Definitely will be sucking up Nitro when we can. ❤️ that nitro.
I haven’t been able to turn my lawn this green all year. It’s growing like crazy and the blades are thick. But it’s light green and yellow. I have to wait for it to grow to see the dark green. I’d do anything to have it this green
How about 114f in AZ...lol!...i applied aScott yellow bag few weeks ago ...well...they burned...
Can I fertilize with stress Blend and throw down Bayer grub killer plus at the same time?
When to use stress blend in n Pennsylvania?
Lovely explanation on how the fertilizer works.
Great information as always Allyn. 👍🏼
thanks bro!
No closed caption for those that are hard of hearing? Love your product anyway. Keep it up.
