I thought a replacement steam valve was necessary, when mine kept leaking steam during the entire cooking cycle. Then I found this thin metal piece on the counter, and wondered if it had fallen off, but had no idea how to replace it. Your demonstration was exactly what I needed. Well done! Thank you so much!

OMG! I saw that piece just loose in the bottom, not in the slot. And didn’t know where it came from. I was already on my way to Costco to return my Instant Pot, after 3 meals that I spoiled trying to get them cooked! Thank you so much for the video.

Finally! A video that showed me exactly how to fix mine, thank you so much!! The little wire piece was laying inside the lid of the instapot. Until your video I did not know that it needed to be inside the knob itself. Well done!

Yeah! The same story happened with me. When I found that little wire inside lid I thought it's something wrong with that, does not have to be like that.. and then I fond that video. I did the same things and ... IT WORKS. Thank you so much for that video! It's really helpful!!!

I am so grateful that I found your video. I have been trouble shooting my 6 qt all morning. I have an 8 qt that I've never had a problem with, so I was baffled. I too have always wondered what that pin thingy was for - you do see it anywhere on the manual. Thank you, thank you, thank you and once again....thank you!!! :)

omg thank you so much, mine was not exactly like this, but after doing everything else recommended in troubleshooting and on other videos, I still had no pressure and a cooker going nuts billowing steam out like a maniac and not ever getting to maintain pressure status, my problem was exactly in this area with metal coil, different design, but it had gotten displaced & now working perfectly, I nearly threw it in the bin and bought a new one so thanks for taking the time to share

Out of a dozen different videos, this is the closest to my problem. But my pot is the Duo Evo and has a different looking valve. I checked inside and there doesn't seem to be any wires that I can adjust. The whole thing just sits a little crooked and shoots out steam the whole time regardless of whether the switch is set to vent or seal.

Thank you. Your video really helps. I know you cannot order a replacement through the Instant pot website or even find a Duo SV valve replacement through eBay. What would you suggest if the steel ring is lost? I was thinking of using a paperclip because it seems to fit underneath the rim like the original. Do you have any suggestions?? Does your replacement valve fit and function the same? Because I have a regular duo model and the the release valve is quite a bit smaller. It also spins around quite a bit and does not stay in the sealing position unless I point it manually in the direction. I haven’t tried to use it yet. I guess I could see if it works. But any suggestions you have would be much appreciated.

People, please stop referring to the seals on the Instant Pot as being rubber, they are silicone. And get the other terms right. It's not called a puppet valve, it's a float valve. The big lid gasket is called the sealing ring. And where did you get that it makes 240 pounds of pressure? That would blow the top off! It's more like 10 to 12psi. But it won't let you open it while it's under pressure. However, I think maybe you confused temperature with pressure, because it can reach 240 degrees, not 240 pounds..

Then I saw under the release valve was filled with what looks like lime deposits. I have a photo, but don't know how to send it here. I am soaking it in vinegar.
