      I got an extra liner pot w ceramic coating. Still too much scrubbing so I oil it with a coat of olive oil. Still too much scrubbing so I put a sheet of baking parchment paperinthe bottom. Problem solved! With my older duo pro it’s fine. Now I’m at my friends home, try this in her Nova Plus 60. Now I get a burn notice. The burn notice disappeared, Plenty water and It’s still cooking just fine. Is it okay? Safe? Mahalo fromMaui ❤

      I found using plenty of water in the bottom of the main pot does the trick. Then you and use another pot as long as it's sitting on the trivet supplied with your unit, or trivets you can buy that are 6 inches tall. I never put anything directly into the main liner pot, either pot in pot or set item to be cooked on a trivet and insure you have plenty of water under the trivet for how long you are going to cook an item, but NEVER under 1 cup of water regardless if just thawing out chicken or a steak. BTW, youtube has videos on just about anything you want to defrost or cook, I use it very often. Also keep a log or book some place of cooking times and what you cooked, then you can refer to it later on. @@MauiViolinist

      Just get a Mueller. You'll never have burn issues. The fact that we have to be so careful with Instantpot is absurd. Pot in Pot? That is poor design IMO. My first Instant pot style cooker was a Mueller. I thought they were all the same. Nope. In fact, come to think of it, I even had a no-name brand that I inherited from my late mother and not one time did I have this issue. SO, I did an "upgrade" and purchased 2 Instand Pots thinking everything was going to be just peachy. Nope. I deal with burn notices all the time now. With a Mueller never had an issue.

    I made spaghetti in the instant pot a few weeks ago and it came out perfect. This time I got the burn signal and it wouldn't cancel, I had to unplug it and take it all out and there was hamburger meat stuck to the bottom and so I washed that out and put my spaghetti back in and now I'm just waiting. I wish I could find the video I went by the first time cuz it was so good and not liquidy.

      Hmm, here is my recipe for Instant Pot Spaghetti: ruclips.net/video/6U9bVMeWIt8/видео.html
      The key is to scrape up all the browned bits off the bottom of the inner pot before adding the noodles and to top the noodles with the spaghetti sauce.

    Hopefully this helps. Got my first burn notice today making Orzo. I added a whole large jar of pasta sauce and then 1.5 cups of water but it burnt to the base. Maybe the Orzo absorbed the soft liquid. I'm very new to this

      Hi there! I would recommend starting with the water, then add pasta, then tomato sauce. Tomato sauce will burn easily. You may also need additional water depending on how much orzo you used.

    Yesterday was my first time using a brand name instant pot while I'm dog sitting (I have an ambiano rice cooker). I made a frittata and followed instructions on a recipe I found that was specific for Instant Pot except I added even more water than it suggested (probably about 4x as much) and it kept coming up burn so when I would cancel it and give it a little bit to cool I would check it carefully and nothing seemed burnt and water level appeared the same. After about an hour of trying to get it to "pressure cook" with both high then low pressure I just put it on warm and finally it cooked without saying burn. It ended up sticking to the pan a little but no more than when I bake it in the oven and finally no more "burn."
    Today I made a delicious chili in there and 2 times it came up "burn." I just stirred it both times making sure nothing seemed stuck on the bottom. I switched it to low on the chili function and once more it said "burn" so I just set it to warm and left it to cook all day like that. Now that I think about it, I put in a bag of frozen kale first and then started adding in all my cans and some extra water on top. I don't know the size of this family's IP but I'm guessing based on everything you said in this video that it's an 8 qt. Even with my issues, I'm in love with it!

    • @AMindFullMom
      @AMindFullMom  Год назад

      Hey there! It sounds like it may be more issues with the recipes than the IP in this case. Frittatas should be cooked in a separate pan elevated over the water on a trivet (known as pot in pot cooking) Here is a recipe I have for one: amindfullmom.com/instant-pot-frittata/
      As for chili, always but thin liquid (water or broth) first and then add in beans, veggies, and top with tomatoes.

    I followed a recipe to the letter & my instant pot started steaming while in the SEAL position. I also got a burn notice after scraping the brown bits but I don’t think I cancelled before adding the chicken broth. I think there’s an issue with my valves to be honest because the last few things have taken WAY too long to come to pressure. I should not be waiting 30 minutes for my pot to come to pressure for 1 cup of rice & 2 cut up chicken breasts. It didn’t even get to pressure when I received the burn notice 🙄

    • @AMindFullMom
      @AMindFullMom  7 месяцев назад

      Hey there, that sounds like too much steam is escaping. I would be sure your sealing knob is fulling sealed and your ring is secure on the lid with no tears.

    Thank you for this! I just got mine and am having a hard time with my burn notice. Question thought , if I hit cancel, quick release it and then add more water , do I juys cook again from the beginning ? Ex : if my cook time is 7 mins and I’ve cooked 2 already, if I had to add more water , do I start back at 7 mins or do I set it for 5? Does that make sense ? Maybe I’m just overthinking it

    • @AMindFullMom

      I am guilty of overthinking too so I get it! I would suggest adding water and adjusting to time remaining.

    You didn't cover one other possible reason for burnt food. Poor design of the InstantPot! There is a reason why you can find Instantpots all over Facebook Market Place. I had a Mueller for 4 years and never once had an issue. I have 2 instant pots thinking that it would be a kind of "upgrade". Nope. Burns all the time - in both of them. The issue is not the seal, the steam lock or any thing else. In fact, every meal has at least a little overcooked brown spot. Yes, I use thicker recipes - But never - ever had a problem with the Mueller. The Instantpot does work if you use water, as when I make potatoes. Too much fiddling required. What got me on the Instapot revolution was Mueller, NOT Instapot. I am going back to the Mueller, Thank you very much!
