Awesome! I ordered a replacement key fob but in all my online searching I didn't have matching information. I took the replacement fob, opened it up and inserted my programmed fob. The unlock button was worn out on mine too. I just put the old into the new one and voila! Works perfectly! Thank you for saving me a $80 reprogramming fee from the dealership!

My wife's 2007 Buick Lacross remotes both didn't work or were very very slow to work, I took them apart and used the foil and voila it works great now!! Thank you, you saved me a bunch of money from car dealership.

Thank you a million times over for sharing this solution. I just tried it using aluminum foil and without the superglue, and it works perfectly. I was getting so frustrated before watching this video. To anyone wondering about this I can confirm that it does indeed work. Save yourself hundreds and do not go to a dealership or locksmith. Use this method and you'll be happy you saved time and money. It only took me 5 minutes.

My wife stopped at the dealer to see why the remote wouldn't work at all and he told her it had got wet and was shot, and would replace it for $125 for a new remote and free to reprogram. Checked out this video and tried it and everything now works perfectly even the remote car starter which wasn't working for along time. Thanks a lot you saved me $125 👍 (06 Buick LaCrosse) thank you thank you

Couldn't believe this worked. 2011 Chevy Malibu. Every button worked except the remote start. Sometimes it would work, sometimes I had to hold it down for 8-10 seconds, sometimes not at all. I replaced the battery and then the button made the horn beep 3 times, then nothing at all. I was ready to go to the dealer until I watched this video. Not sure if you have to do all the buttons, but while you're in there, why not! Thanks SO much for this quick fix man!

My husband and I recently purchased a 2007 Buick LaCrosse with a remote start key fob, and we could only get the trunk to pop and the alarm to start. We were so bummed that we couldn’t use the remote start! Not to mention unlocking and locking manually is a pain. But thanks to you, we can do all those things! I stuck aluminum on the back of each button with nail polish and it worked!! Thanks so much!

Man I finally decided to search RUclips for a fix and here it is. I put it off for a year now and thankfully I didn't buy a new one after pricing it at my Buick dealer. they wanted $129.99 for a new one. Well thanks to that aluminum and the smart guy who discovered this fix I can now use my remote start again. yeahhhhhh boy!

He actually made a device that you just slip in. And it was only $12.95. So I went ahead and ordered it. I was thinking maybe over time, the foil pieces would come off, so I felt safer ordering the piece. They have these at keylessfixcom. I ALMOST paid my car dealership $200 for a new remote!! DON'T OVERLOOK THE OBVIOUS.
I was having the same problem. My unlock button was acting very sluggish. I bought new (not used) fob on ebay but I couldn't figure a way to program it.
After watching this video (and a couple others) that explained about the rubber buttons wearing out, I decided to just change rubber button pads between the two (my old one that didn't work and the new one).
I tried the old foil trick, but that didn't work for me for some reason. Switching the pads did the trick. I now have a brand-new working remote entry for my 2008 HHR.
Funny thing is, I took my car to a dealer and asked how much they'd charge to fix it, and maybe they just didn't want to bother checking it out, but they told me I would need new actuators at a cost of $800.
After seeing how cheap it cost to fix ($10.90, buy it now on ebay w/ shipping included), I theorized that this was all the dealer would do - program a new keypad and charge me $800 for it.
Be smart, people - don't overlook the obvious.

@ Dave Speener -- thanks ALSO *** QUESTIONS PLEASE *** Can anyone verify this PROGRAMMIMNG FOB TECHNIQUE from member Omar Awad recently? When does the ignition key go in and what position while holding the 'lock - unlock" buttons for 25 seconds. The dealer wants to charge $45 to program the FOB. You were told $800? !!! Thanks for any input. Also I want to program 2 chip keys HOW? Have a Pontiac 2009 car.
