Oh my gosh! I watched 5 other videos to program my new fob to my 97 Tahoe and not a damn one said anything about the paperclip in the program panel. I was getting so frustrated that I couldn't do it... So I gave up for a couple months figuring I had to take it to a shop to have it done, then I got bored and searched for more videos and BAM! This man saved the day, the paperclip thing worked and it programmed immediately! Thank you!
Worked like a charm on my 2003 Park Avenue. I’m ecstatic I didn’t have to go to the dealer, probably to be charged $100, to do this at home in 2-3 minutes. Thank you for the video!
I followed the exact direction that Rick Mammana gave, and used on My 2003 Buick Park Avenue, using a used key fob, and it worked perfect. All for $10, the Buick garage wanted $140.00 for the fob and to program it. Thanks Rick
Does not work with a 2003 Buick Park Avenue. You can connect the pins all you want but no programming mode, which is consistent with all the other documentation over the internet. Had to try it before spending more money.
This was perfect, I was worried that during the rush hours of the holiday, I would have to drop my car off at the shop. But, nope thanks to this very helpful video I was able to reconnect my car keypads to my car. Awesome video, thanks!!!
Thanks. I have a 1999 Buick Park Avenue ultra supercharged 3.8 Engine. My Key Fob Transmitter when out around 1 ago. The Buick (GM) no longer carry them for my Vehicle. I called Auto Zone and it's $ 90.00. I checked on Ebay it's $ 22. 00. WOW. I will purchase it and will do exactly as you have demonstrated.
Excellant, worked perfect! Went to a locksmith to get extra key made, he was stumped about programming a new remote. Your instruction were clear & simple. Nice job, Thanks
Nice video Rick - technique works perfectly for a 1998 Park Avenue as well. The most common reason these key fobs fail is the battery clip solder joints on the circuit board become loose or disconnected. To fix this problem simply take a soldering iron and some rosin-core solder, and carefully touch up the 3 solder joints on the battery clip. No re-programming is necessary. With that done the vast majority of key fobs will work fine again.
Recently purchased a Silverado '98 without remote, was planing to install aftermarket alarm. Found a left over remote from my old camaro, followed your example and whola, the car opens och close like a charm!! Thank you very much!
Awesome vid bro. I have a gifted 2000 Buick lesabre(only 40k) and I accidentally set off the panic button on the remote which somehow stop my remote from unlocking, locking and opening the trunk. (Oddly the panic button still worked though) Now this may be useful for you and others but I was able to reprogram the remote WITHOUT having to use the paperclip trick. Just by turning on the ignition and holding lock and unlock like you showed. Maybe another video with this in mind might help others and get you more views. Thank you for the video and getting me in the right direction towards this weird mishap with my ol" Buick.
Can confirm this method works on a 2004 Park Avenue. I think the OBD ports are always upside down on these cars. I programmed a replacement fob along with the original. You have to do both, otherwise the original will no longer work.
Dude, you're my hero if this works. I just ordered a couple fobs for my G6 and I've been scouring the internet for ways to program it through the ODB with an interface and software but it's expensive still and not guaranteed to support every model. Like someone else said in the comments, the battery clip is often the culprit. I bought my car used and it came with some universal remote and the battery clip tabs came clean off the board. I got it to work again with some copper tape but now it reset itself I guess. I bought 2 new fobs so I wouldn't end up going through this again after I get them programmed, so I hope this works. I'll try it with my old one in the meantime. Cleaning the graphite with rubbing alcohol on the inside of the fob shell could also help if your fob just stops working. Debris can accumulate and cause the buttons to not make contact well with the board. Just putting that out there in case anyone reads this and hasn't tried that yet (if it worked before and just stopped even with a new battery). Thank you for this video. I have new hope. Lol. I'll send you a 6 pack if all goes well.
Thank You so very much. I just got a 1998 deville. Not sure why , but the remote stopped working today. Found your video. I did everything except using the paper clip, And it worked. Thank you. 1 problem down , quite a few more to go.
The junk in the trunk of your car looks amazingly similar to the junk in my trunk. You sir have good taste. Hope to see you out on the water maybe we could wet our lines together some day
Each of the original 2 remotes for my 04 Cadillac Deville also controls the individual settings for my wife and I for the drivers seat and outside mirrors, as well as the door locks. Does programming new remotes as you've shown in your video also program for those features?
It will if you are able to program the remote to work your car. I have a 06 Cadillac and this method does not work on that car. I would contact the site that sells the remotes for specific instructions.
Hi everyone, I have a pontiac sunfire 2005. I have tried to use this video to work on mine., but I didnt see the port number 8 on my sunfire. Please help me solve my problem. Thanks
Hello, If you go to the site in the link you can enter your type of car. If it will, they will provide you with programming instructions for your specific vehicle. Thanks, Rick
my old one still works i just want an extra one....so that one wont work after i program my new one?...can i do the same procedure to the old one so they both work
If I remember correctly you can still program the original to match the new ones while in programming mode. But the procedure is different for all cars. This exact method wouldn't work on every model. You'll need programming instructions from the remote manufacturer for your particular car.
Hey I know it said that the original won’t work when you do this but could you reprogram the first one at the same time like you did with the two replacements or should I just order 2 as well … my original works fine I just want a spare fob just incase …
I have a 06 buick lacrosse and i have tried every trick and anything i could think of... I mean everything! The solution is to take it to a shop that has a tech 2 obd2 unit. They have to put the car into relearn mode which unfortunately has to be done with a tech 2 computer.
tried this on my 2002 Buick lesabre and it didn't receive the pins (paper clip) didn't lock and unlock when I put them in tried many times to adjust and hold move a few different times and still nothing, also not sure but I don't see the silver part on the 8th hole anymore.. any suggestions?
@@RickMammana oh ok, well I haven’t purchased new ones my old ones stopped working randomly when my engine light came on and I was trying to reprogram them with this method, not sure what happened but they were perfectly fine just before the engine light came on, I just got all the other stuff fixed but the fobs still aren’t working.
Hi, You should contact the company or person that is selling the correct remote for your car. They will have specific instructions for that model. They are all a little different.
Will this work on a 1998 Cadillac Deville? Also, will this procedure reprogram the ignition key? I do not want to do that. I just want the new remote to lock and unlock.
Each vehicle has specific programming instructions. You should get the instructions from where you buy the remote. A Cadillac service center will tell you how to reprogram the key. I had to do that once.
will this work on a 2000 Cadillac DeVille my service theft system light came on and now it is not working at all I can't open my doors I have to use my key to open my door
+cball 84 Hi, I'm not sure. I have an 06 Cadillac and this method does not work. But the site that sells the remotes will have specific instructions for your vehicle.
Rick Mammana I'm a Buick Fanatic & soon I'll be buying a 2000 Regal as my first car & question does this re programming key work on a 1997-2004 Regal as well?
Rick Mammana Why does these cars not chirping when You Lock & Unlock them? I have a 00' Pontiac Bonneville It doesn't chirp, But My '05 Impala does, is it becos it's not programmed to chirp or it was built that way from factory?
Nonny, I have an 01 Bonny and if you go through your manual, there is a process for setting up if you want lights, chirp, either, both. You can set it to how you want it.
I'm glad it worked for your Buick. Different models have different instructions, but this one is easy. Wish I still had the car, I love those big Park Avenues.
I have a 2000 buick regal and number 8 doesnt have a metal contact, therefore wont go into programming mode. Do you have a solution for this? Thank you.
+Robert Lucus Ok but it is different for different models of cars. Where you order the new remote they usually tell you how to program your specific vehicle! Thanks for watching.
Hi Rick I need to know if you can help me to program the control for a 2005 Chevrolet venture I try so many different Ways but nothing has work so far. Thanks
+Antonia Aburto Hi, You must contact the site selling the remote. They provide specific instructions for each model. Programming is different for all models. Some you even need a dealer to do. Wish I could help more.
What if port #4 doesn't have a contact tab and is empty like most of the 16 tabs on the panel? On our 2003 LeSabre panel, #8 has a metal contact tab, but #4 is just the plastic. Is there another combination with #8 that will also work to get to programming mode?
Each model car may have different programming instructions. This video was for that year Buick. You should contact the site that sells the replacement remotes for programming instructions for your specific vehicle.
Hi, I received the instructions from where I purchased the remote. There is a link in the video description where I bought it. It's different for different cars.
+vambo13257 Not the way I did it on this old buick. Newer cars will be different. You must contact the seller of the remotes for specific instructions for each vehicle.
What car?!? Might be helpful if you included what car NOT to do this method in. It clearly states it will work for all vehicles. Instead of complaining and adding zero value, why don’t you try doing something positive like hey guys, I have a _________ __________ and when I try this, it blew fuse number ____. That way, if someone else blows a fuse, you might help out and save them some time, and if they have the same car as you They may avoid trying this and look for another method saving them a fuse and some time!
I have the same type of remote for my 2002 Cadillac Deville I just bought a new from the locksmith yesterday and now it won't work and my car won't start will I have to reprogram it??
It's the weekend, so the seller isn't available, so I went Internet searching lol... my husband seems to think that's perhaps the issue as we have an aftermarket head unit in there, thanks Rick.
Where I bought the remote, instructions came with it for the specific car. Each model car will be different so you need specific instructions for each type of vehicle.
Hi, I'm sure this same method does not work on that car but email the site that sells the remotes and they should give you the right remote and instructions for your specific car. Thanks
I want a keyless entry for my car, 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Se. This will be first time this car has ever had a remote so in order to do that I know I'd need a fuse and the remotes of course does the remotes you have come with the fuse?
Thanks for this video! I just programmed my remote to my Saturn. However, I now need to contact EBay because it said 2 and not one replacement remotes.
Hi, There should be instructions with the replacement unit that you bought. If not email the site that sells them and they will give you detailed instructions.
Would this make the keyless entry sign on the dashboard go away if I do this? Sometimes that turns on for no reason... and stays on.. or do i have a lose wire or something!?
Rick Mammana I think you misunderstood. You stated the original would no longer work, but after some research I believe that if you want to continue to use an original, it would have to be (re)programmed just like the second remote was done here. In other words, I hope can still use one (still good) old remote since I'm just buying one new remote.
+Rick Mammana yeah because I did it your way at the exact moment...it was pretty cool how it happened at the sametime. I could only imagine taking it to the shop costing me $100 dollars or more...anyway do you know how to fix fuel pumps too?because my gas gauge fluctuate alot....
I just traded my old truck in for a GMC 2006 Canyon and just found out that it has a remote keyless entry, however, after going to the local dealer to find out the cost to get just one remote and then paying another $100.00 to have it programed, they wanted to charge me over $200.00 for everything. Do you know if this truck has the same directions that was mentioned in the video? Also, do I have to buy a certain generic remote or will anyone work?
I would love your opinion! I tried doing what you did in the video on my 1997 Buick lesabre. I was not able to get the remote to sync. What happened was my radio/clock stopped working completely. Do you have any idea what happened and what I can do to fix it? Thanks.

It's the weekend, so the seller isn't available, so I went Internet searching lol... my husband seems to think that's perhaps the issue as we have an aftermarket head unit in there, thanks Rick.
+Lisa LeFaive Ok. It's hard to say cause that year and model is real close to the one that I did it on. Good Luck with it.
Also for Saturn Ión 2006?
Do you know if this will work on an 08 Impala?
You should contact the site selling the remotes for instructions on programming for your specific vehicle!
@@RickMammana haha thanks! To program a new remote on a newer Impala all you need to do is go in the DIC & select relearn remote key. So easy!
@@jamesolson205 Yeah I know some are real easy.
How did you find out about the 4 and 8? Just curious.
Where I bought the remote, instructions came with it for the specific car. Each model car will be different so you need specific instructions for each type of vehicle.
@@RickMammana Thx. I'll try the 4 and 8 on our 03 LeSabre because I'm not finding anything with our fob purchase or online.
does the alarm work ? khrazy 1if the shoe fits maybe if you put the paperclip but in your mouth when you connect them together lol...................
If I'm just adding a key fob NOT replacing one, will the first one still work after I add the new one?
You will need to reprogram. Both remotes if you enter the programming mode
hello it does not work for me on chevrolet cavalier sunfire Ls convertible 1997
Is this the procedure for 2002 Buick Lasabre?
Hi, I couldn't say off hand, I would email the site where you buy the remotes for your specific vehicle. Thanks
+Rick Mammana thanks Rick. Nice last name by the way..
+Adam Mammana Oh Yeah! I was gonna say! You must be a cool guy!
+Rick Mammana I have never met anyone other than a family member with our last name. I am pretty cool, sometimes....
+Adam Mammana Yeah, I know what you mean. I like that we don't have a common name! :)
hey friend my car is the same buik 1997 so should i do it rigth like you?
+chilipondio “el jaac” barrera Yes it should work if it's the same car.
+Rick Mammana thanks my friend it works perfect thankyou thankyou thankyou you did it

Nazi Grammar Hi, You must contact the site selling the remotes for instructions on programming for your specific vehicle! :)

Hi, I'm sure this same method does not work on that car but email the site that sells the remotes and they should give you the right remote and instructions for your specific car. Thanks
It work?
Can confirm does work for 2003 park Ave.
Dose this worked for the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt Lt ? Thanks
+xingxing han Hi, You would have to contact the site that sells the remotes for your specific car. In the link in the description of the video.
I want a keyless entry for my car, 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Se. This will be first time this car has ever had a remote so in order to do that I know I'd need a fuse and the remotes of course does the remotes you have come with the fuse?
putting in an obd reader also works. thanks
👍👍
Thanks for this video! I just programmed my remote to my Saturn. However, I now need to contact EBay because it said 2 and not one replacement remotes.
What year is your Saturn? Mine is 2006. Thinking of buying new fobs.
How can I program the remote chevrolet cavalier 97 but I didnt see the port number 8 on my cavalier? please help me
Hi, There should be instructions with the replacement unit that you bought. If not email the site that sells them and they will give you detailed instructions.
Would this make the keyless entry sign on the dashboard go away if I do this? Sometimes that turns on for no reason... and stays on.. or do i have a lose wire or something!?
Original will not work? Can you re-program the original so it will?
Well sometimes the are broken circuits in there. You can look up how to repair it, if that's the case.
Rick Mammana I think you misunderstood. You stated the original would no longer work, but after some research I believe that if you want to continue to use an original, it would have to be (re)programmed just like the second remote was done here. In other words, I hope can still use one (still good) old remote since I'm just buying one new remote.
Ohh, Yeah you could program or reprogram as many remotes that you have when your in programming mode, sorry I was half asleep. :)
I love this video you saved me alot of Time....if it wasn't for you idk what I would do....I appreciate this alot
+STP Johnson I'm glad if I could help!
+Rick Mammana yeah because I did it your way at the exact moment...it was pretty cool how it happened at the sametime. I could only imagine taking it to the shop costing me $100 dollars or more...anyway do you know how to fix fuel pumps too?because my gas gauge fluctuate alot....
+STP Johnson Cooool!
+STP Johnson Oh no, I'm probably not too good with fuel pumps. I'd look it up though, you'll probably find out how to do it.
Also, do I have to buy a certain generic remote or will anyone work?
sharpasatac131 did you ever figure it out?
Does it work on 2004 chevy impala ss
Any advice for a key fob for a deville 2004
I would love your opinion! I tried doing what you did in the video on my 1997 Buick lesabre. I was not able to get the remote to sync. What happened was my radio/clock stopped working completely. Do you have any idea what happened and what I can do to fix it? Thanks.
+Shelly Misco Hi, You must contact the site selling the remotes for instructions on programming for your specific vehicle!
Loved the video you saved me a bundle of money
does that work for a grand prix 2004??
Hi Rick. my 2007 Pontiac G6 don't have the metal contact in 8 spot. Any ideas?
Hi, I would send and email to the place that sells the remotes. They usually can tell you the correct way for your specific model. :)
Thanks Rick. I appreciate it very much. I won't ask you for another pressure cooker. lol. I hope you know I was just teasing you. 😁😇
Worked with my 1998 Oldsmobile Regency, Thanks man !
Cool! I'm glad!
