The power of this performance simply cannot be overstated. Here a 50ish year old man - dressed like just finished changing the oil in his car - pulls off what may be one the most moving, passionate and emotional instrumental solos of any genre ever recorded. This is truly one of the most iconic moments, not just in rock, but all of music.
For those of us who grew up with Pink Floyd, it is an absolute privilege to see the reaction from someone of your generation hearing their brilliance for the first time. I highly recommend the live version of 'On the Turning Away' from Delicate Sound of Thunder. It is beautiful, and it will stir your emotions. Again, stunning guitar from David Gilmour. Enjoy.
I don't know whether you have seen this, but I feel the video really presses home the subject matter in On the Turning Away: ruclips.net/video/RAogHx7Sl8k/видео.html
I'm also 72...saw them on a rainy day in Hyde Park 1968 and again there in 1970. Luckily I lived in Kensington back then, cos there were often free concerts. (Stones in the Park), I actually really wanted to see Jethro Tull.
The singer and lead guitarist, David Gilmour, a quiet British gentleman, rips and trips and screams and wails on that guitar like no other. Dave doesn't play guitar, his soul does and he just stands there and pours it out. This I've known for 50 years. Welcome to Pink Floyd.
When you get THAT kind of emotional reaction from watching the band on a small screen and through headphones, IMAGINE what it was like to be THERE that night!! Surrounded by the amazing clarity of the sound. . . Sound that can punch you in the chest and make your bones vibrate. . Along with thousands and thousands of people around you, and they are all TRANSPORTED by the music, the same as you are. . . The lights. . the movement. . . Overloading all your senses. . . GLORIOUS! It would have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience that would have been amazing. . Some guitarists can play a milion notes a minute and are fantastic. . David Gilmour can play ONE note and creep into your soul with it. . .
Yes!!!! Your reaction was epic. So grateful you did not pause it. I was there in 94, I still cant believe what i witnessed the whole show was something out of this world. We will never see anything like it t ever again. Seeing it on video was awesome. But being there live was magically way different. There wasnt a dry eye in the audience the whole night . PINK FLOYD , GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME.
I’m 63, saw Floyd 4 times. The Wall twice and the Momentary Lapse and Division Bell tours. Beyond epic. When Gilmour did ‘that’ solo for the Wall, he was atop a 30’ riser behind The Wall that had been built right across the stage in the first half of the show. The only lighting for the solo was a spotlight behind Gilmour that cast his shadow the length of the arena. There are not enough superlatives to describe the sheer emotion that man can create with his guitar. Absolutely outstanding ~ and something I’ll never forget. And yes, I know. I’m a lucky guy to have seen such majesty.
I was able to see this show two evenings in a row at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal on May 23 and 24, 1994. What seemed strange at the end of the show was this "stunned" look that the audience had. You could see on their faces that they had just witnessed something memorable, far beyond the ordinary. There was a sort of calm, silence, as if these people didn't want to let the "return to everyday life" alter this magical moment.
I really enjoy watching younger generation and the first time hearing Pink Floyd and Comfortably Numb. I was lucky enough to see this concert in Ohio State Stadium with over 150 Thousand People Easy. Greatest moments of my life and I'll never forget the experience of being there and reliving the experience with you. Thanks
I was at one of these gigs in Earl's Court, where this was filmed (though on a different day). I was 14. I'm 43 now and it was literally life-changing. Extraordinary. I can't thank my Dad enough for taking me along! That glitter ball was about the size of an underground train station. The top and bottom could open up and rotate in opposite directions and inside was a colourful lighthouse light. Incredible show.
Wow, your experience is very similar to my'n.. I was 16 and also saw them at earls court, taken by my parents, who introduced me to Pink Floyd when I was 5 (my first album for my first cassette deck lol). It was obviously amazing, but the significance of what I saw really hits me in these reactions.. almost puts me right back there.
The guitar player, David Gilmour is one of the most generous musicians ever. He sold his guitar collection for millions and donated all the money. He also sold his mansion and property and donated all the money to charity. Homelessness is his cause and he's very serious about it.
2024 marks this concert as being 30 years old, playing a song that is 45 years old , which makes me wonder how many concerts being recorded today will be seen in 30 years time. Have been to many PF concerts, even going back to the sun-rise / sun-set outdoor concerts of days gone by. Saw this concert at Mile High in Denver. This was a time when Stapleton airport was in use. They restricted all landing from the west because of the lasers being used. It was without a doubt one of the best PF concerts. QED.
This Pulse concert by Pink Floyd is the creme de la creme of all their concerts. Other songs from this great gig you should check out: High Hopes, Sorrow, Keep Talking, Another Brick In The Wall, One Of These Days, and Run Like Hell.
yeah was a captavating concert, almsot otherworldly, sweet reaction, try great gig in v sky, wish u were here, we dont need no ed, blue sky, learning to fly, so many wonderful songs
I saw The Wall concert in Berlin back in 1990. The list of guest artists was incredible: The Scorpions, Cindy Lauper, Marianne Faithfull, The Band, Van Morrison, Thomas Dolby, the Red Army Marching Band, Tim Curry, and Albert Finney as The Worm Your Honor. I was blown away.
David rips his heart and soul, serves it directly to ours, deeply out of deepness and leaves us rethinking our existence. This is how the music is supposed to speak to us.
My very first concert was Pink Floyd performing The Dark Side of the Moon at the age of 8 years old with an older Brother, I have loved them ever since.
Me and my wife was there that night in 1994 and it was amazing .and the secret to really enjoy listening to pink floyd is to turn up the volume the louder the better .
I saw this same concert at the Oakland Coliseum, in '94' Goosebumps for around 3 hours. Between the Light show and the music it was one of the most emotional events of my life. Shedmen56
You have a like and sub from me 👍 Beautiful reaction. Thank you 🤗 You FELT the music and didn't interrupt to analyse it. That's what we want. Thank you Pink Floyd is a JOURNEY! More please? And I hope you enjoy 🤗 Great Gig in the Sky, LIVE, will blow your mind! It's about the stages of death. See if you can figure out what they are! Either the Pulse concert or the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert. I love both Sam Brown and Rachel Fury. Both are awesome 😊
The lead guitarist David Gilmour created many great solos during his time with Pink Floyd. Some of them can be found on the songs "Time" "Money", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I - V)", "Dogs". Pigs (Three Different Ones)", "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 3", Hey You", "Sorrow", "Marooned", "Coming Back To Life", and "High Hopes". You will probably really enjoy any of the songs from the P.U.L.S.E. Live Album Concert Videos.
Kudos to the reactor( I don’t know her name) for not interrupting the greatest guitar solo of all time. As fresh a performance now as when this was performed at Earls Court in London in 1994 . Great reaction; new subscriber.
I must confess that this is a incredibly beautiful piece, even while editing these video i still got that goosebumps. Please feel free to educate me about pink floyd and recommend any of their songs . ❤❤
I was at this show in London, it was 100 times better than you can tell from the videos! Just about any song from this show is brilliant. Comfortably Numb was the 2nd of 3 encores, the final number was "Run Like Hell", if you want a fabulous light show watch the Pulse version of that. If you want another great guitar solo try "Sorrow" or maybe "One of these days" which is quite different! :)
Beautiful, honest reaction. You may try live version On the turning away from Delicate sound of thunder. I heard this song probably over 100 times in my life and it brings me to tears and goosebumps every single time. Amazing
I've seen many people react to this video, and your reaction is the best. You seemed totally captivated and mesmerized. I react the same every time I watch this video. David Gilmore is a brilliant guitar player, and his solos are legendary. You just never want it to stop. You should watch Pink Floyd's song, "Coming back to life," from the Pulse album.
Watching your reaction to this legendary band was precious lol it was like reliving that initial experience I once had when I first heard Floyd all over again.🎸❤
Welcome to Pink Floyd! The best band ever! I loved your reaction. If you are looking for more PF recommendations (and I subbed in hopes that you are) try "Us And Them." Do the studio version from the album The Dark Side of the Moon 1973. As you listen to more PF, you will begin to realize that their albums are "concept albums". They tell a story much like a movie from beginning to end, and all of the songs flow beautifully and seamlessly from one to the next. They keep you on the edge of your seat from the first song to the last. I know it isn't easy to react to a whole album, that's why I recommended just one song, but you must listen to one of their many brilliant albums in one sitting some day. I would definitely recommend The Dark Side of the Moon.
Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb, is a story of a band member that is having a nervous breakdown. Although he has made it very big in the music industry he is comfortably numb but emotionally bankrupt. The knock on the door and the words "It's time to go" are a wake-up call from the hotel people trying to get him up for the show. A doctor is called hence "There will be a little pinprick "There will be no more AHAHAH" his hands felt like 2 balloons as a result of the drug and emotional state of the band member. A very good view is Pink Floyd the Video The Wall Like most Pink Floyd it's meant to be viewed/listened to as a complete story ie The Video The Wall encompasses a 2 cd audio set and all the music has a part in the story. Comfortably Numb is from the Wall CD set.
When you do Great gig in the sky you have to do the album version . Every other song doesnt matter what version except that one. You will notice pink floyd has long intros to their songs. It is to put you in the mood for each song.
Love your reactions! Watch Sorrow from pulse concert you wont believe your eyes and ears also! Money from pulse concert Run like Hell from pulse concert. One of these Days from pulse concert. All great songs
If you're there, you don't scream and applaud at the end of because you've been screaming and applauding since halfway through the solo. It is exultant!!
Pink Floyd is easily one of the greatest bands of all time. The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, and many other albums are just experiences... that's it... an experience. You put the album on and just go on this journey through the music, the lyrics. As you see, they are as good live as the studio versions. You don't really get that from bands today, where the music, the lyrics, just make you go on a journey. Pink Floyd did it through entire albums, song after song.
"they are as good live as the studio versions", not sure I fully agree with that. There are a number of songs recorded in the studio, but when you hear them live, they have add another layer to it. Money (Pulse Version) is a good example where they worked a tad on the middle section. Echoes with the Pompeii and Gdansk versions another example. Of course, the original is still "headphones positive"!
"I'm stuttering from shock" - yep, that's not uncommon. This is the 4th reaction video to this same song that i have watched (just tonight) ,and while all had the common "WOW!", and all were good , yours was deeply felt in a similar way by MANY , I am sure. Pink Floyd IS good medicine.
And being there was even the next level....
Mr. Gilmore in his 50es is dressed at least decent. At Pompeii, in his 20es he was half naked during performance. Yet another masterpiece.
50 years ago Pink Floyd were already 200 years ahead of everybody!
Enjoy.

I don’t care how many times I hear this song, hundreds probably, but it always gives me goosebumps!! ❤❤❤❤
Same!
Makes me cry with joy
Every guitar wants David Gilmour for Christmas....
So nice seeing a beautiful, classy lady experiencing the magic of PF. God bless
It does my old heart good to see young people enjoying the music of my generation. Welcome aboard.
You don't just listen to Pink Floyd - you feel it!
That’s a must 💕
By sitting in a reclining chair in a darkened room, totally relaxing and just letting the music take you..
The singer and lead guitarist, David Gilmour, a quiet British gentleman, rips and trips and screams and wails on that guitar like no other. Dave doesn't play guitar, his soul does and he just stands there and pours it out. This I've known for 50 years. Welcome to Pink Floyd.

I am never disapointed seeing that that his epic song touches anyones soul at the core
Their lyrics are the key to unlocking the door to your mind so the music can touch your soul. What you're feeling is a soul in pain touching your own.
I’m 63, saw Floyd 4 times. The Wall twice and the Momentary Lapse and Division Bell tours. Beyond epic. Greatest musical generation the world has ever seen!🎶🌎🎶
We are changed because of it.
I was able to see this show two evenings in a row at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal on May 23 and 24, 1994.

I saw them in Texas Stadium that year. What an experience!
It's like honey going around in your ears around around and around 🎸
Yeah 🤗😊
Every song from the pulse concert is pure gold.
Thank you for not pausing. I love your reaction very much.
Welcome to the greatest guitarist who ever existed mister David Gilmore
I’m glad you love it 😍
Saw them in 1988 in Melbourne Australia, it remains the greatest day of my life.
Wow 😮
That’s an experience no one would forget in a hurry
I really enjoy watching younger generation and the first time hearing Pink Floyd and Comfortably Numb. I was lucky enough to see this concert in Ohio State Stadium with over 150 Thousand People Easy. Greatest moments of my life and I'll never forget the experience of being there and reliving the experience with you. Thanks
I’m jealous of you 🙈😊
The anticipation of the solo coming is wonderful... even after watching this for the 1000th time.
Pink Floyd are amazing. A man in jeans and a t-shirt does one of the best guitar solos ever. Greetings from Norway. 😄
You just heard what many consider one of the best songs/ guitar solos ever played 😊.
Pink Floyd is the passion of sound.
I agree 😊
I was at one of these gigs in Earl's Court, where this was filmed (though on a different day). I was 14. I'm 43 now and it was literally life-changing. Extraordinary. You have chosen the right record. There ain't no way this masterpiece could be played better.
Pink floyd invented the concert light show , i wish i could hear and see this for the first time again, great reaction , much love!
The guitar player, David Gilmour is one of the most generous musicians ever. He sold his guitar collection for millions and donated all the money.

The best guitar solo ever
Pink Floyd has always been one of my favorites. It’s so nice to see a young person experience them!! 😊

Do you think they will be playing Traylor Slow concert videos 30 years from now and weeping? Let me hazard a guess and say "nope".
@@markh.7650 But I'm betting in 30 years someone will find this "Pulse Show", and wonder, "Where did the music all go so wrong?" (Mark, so very true).
This Pulse concert by Pink Floyd is the creme de la creme of all their concerts. Other songs from this great gig you should check out: High Hopes, Sorrow, Keep Talking, Another Brick In The Wall, One Of These Days, and Run Like Hell.

I will try that out . Thanks for watching
true. i have to limit myself to listening a number of times per week since i turn the volume up too much haha
Welcome to the 70's/80's. When you didn't have a favorite band more a favorite mix. Out blend the DJs with no commercials so to speak .
God bless you sir David gilmour
pink floyd is the music...
