Awesome video. Just recently joined the mopar family with my 17 charger RT. Absolutely in love with it, and look forward to watching more of your videos in the future. Subscribed!
Love these videos showcasing the SXT,GT and the RT. They are terrific cars that get overlooked. I'm thinking about getting a sxt for a daily. Get all the looks for a great price and cheaper operating costs ie fuel, insurance, upkeep..etc.
Great video RacerX. I really enjoyed the comparison. As others have said I’ve seen a little better 0-60 times in my R/T but overall I expected the GT to run a little closer to the R/T. Definitely a cool bunch of guys at that dealership to let you do this stuff. If I was closer I’d give them some business. An idea for a future video: explain the details of the super track pack option and what trims it’s available on. My 17 Daytona has it but I’m still trying to figure out what other trims have it and exactly what it includes.
Excellent video Racer X! I had no doubt that the R/T would come ahead! R/T is my pick! Imagine that, 5.7 in a 5.7. Perfectly matched numbers! If I had my way though, SCAT PACK is where it's at! Love that Hellraisen Chally! That and in the gold paint trim is FANTASTIC! I noticed that on the RT and GT, they are calling back to a 1971 grill. I prefer the 70 non split grill but it's great either way!
Even as heavy as these cars are 300hp is plenty sufficient for some spirited driving on the street. Would be interested to see how much the additional weight of the AWD system would effect performance given that the stock rubber can obviously handle the V6's power just fine.
It's always cool to see the differences between the trims. Even the base challenger is no slouch. The best I'm able to to get on my RT is 4.8. Great video.
Try a GT AWD next in one of these tests. I would like to see what the difference would be compared to the RWD version. Thank you for the informative videos! :)
I'm almost 2 months in after buying my 2020 GT and still a happy camper! The V6 is plenty powerful, and even though the engine is the same, sounds SO MUCH better than the one in my old car, the 2018 SXT.
@RUclips Legend Yep, I couldn't agree more. I'm looking into getting rid of the GT now anyway, I love the new chargers and want to see if I can grab an R/T at a reasonable price
This is why I wasn't concerned about V6 vs V8 when I bought mine. Sure, it's obvious a V8 will perform better on the high end, but unless you're doing that regularly, that V6 engine will do just fine and the car is still just as beautiful. Shame there wasn't an Indigo Blue around anywhere. Seems like a more rare color. If you get a chance, you should hunt one down and show it, it is a gorgeous color when you see it in person. The Dodge website doesn't do it justice.
Good comparison. I’m a little surprised the 5.7 wasn’t quicker than that. I was getting pretty consistent low 5’s in my 2016 Charger R/T. I think a better comparison though would have been tracking 40-70 or something to that effect. The torque of the Hemi really helps these heavy cars pull hard on a roll.
Those first two comments lol. Guys trying to say their 4,000 lb car with 370 hp did 0-60 in 3-4 second range. Wierd, considering 4.2 is the best my 3,080 lb 405 hp Z06 ever did.
I just signed and took home a 2016 challenger R/T, I'm having so much fun with it, I plan doing a full exhaust with intake and tune. Then some lowering springs, strut bar and sway bars. Then wider wheels and tires
You just got a new sub from me! I keep going back to this video and I appreciate that you show love for both trims! I just bought a 2020 challenger GT Awd in frostbite blue and I LOVE her! Keep up the great work! 👍
Then get a camaro or mustang, the base model v8 from dodge loses to 4 bangers. They are heavy as shit and only have 375 hp. Dodge has the record for the LOWEST hp for a v8. It sucks ass. Save your money. Either get a scat or something else
@@haroldedinjiklian6267 I mean unless he doesn’t care about racing it lol. RT is more of a cruiser with that sweet v8 sound that most ppl want without having crazy hp like a scat. I think it’s great for a daily without thinking your fast.
Replaced my tires and rims on my stock RT Charger setup with 9.5 wide Hellcat Replicas and 295 40s on all fours corners big difference in hooking up, no need to modulate the throttle when accelerating. Going to pick up one those Dragys looks like a neat product.
I had a ‘16 Camaro with the 2.0 turbo, and in a stoplight drag race, I beat a ‘08 Bullitt Mustang and held the advantage all the way to 147. Both cars were very similar in performance, but it’s amazing that a four cylinder can match or beat a V8 from just 8 years earlier. But that Mustang had such a good sound to it....
this really isn’t bad for the v6 considering it said you were going uphill slightly as well as having slightly less dense air, these will effect the times.
@@jgutmen486 see that's what I thought at first but the scatpack i wanted to trade into was still double the cost of what I have into the car right now, also my charger has all wheel drive and there's currently snow and ice everywhere so it helps a lot having more traction.
@@justinshauf394 The scat pack can't take any boost. That's why they didn't use the 392 for the hellcat. They had to mix the 392 and the 5.7 to create the 6.2. Would be cool to have both an awd v6 and a rwd hellcat. I have a hellcat, and I might get an awd GT just to drive in the winter.
Great video! This is why most SXT/GT owners skip past the RT and upgrade to a scatpack. The difference between 3.6 and 5.7 isn’t worth the price tag. I’m consistently pulling 5.8 0-60s in my SXT.
I have a GT charger, stock tires and everything. I pulled 6.0 for 0-60mph, 6.4 for 0-100km/h. I was wondering if your SXT is RWD or AWD? Is it stock? Thanks!
I bought my charger GT 2019 used at 13k km, so around 8500miles used. For around 25k usd, if I can find a good challenger R/T used for abit more within the next year or two, where I add around 4000$, I would definitely do the upgrade for myself. However, it would be tough to find a RT challenger here in Canada, especially with dealer margins, looking more like 6000-7000$ used add.
That is a good jump, however the jump from a V6 to an R/T statistically is a bigger jump than going from a 5.7L R/T to scat pack. So the R/T might surprise you and is still a good buy if its cheap enough. I went from a modded 14 ram with about 450-460hp to a stock 15 R/T challenger. The challenger is definitely quicker. Granted the ram had the 6spd auto, 4x4, and 3.55 axles, but the 5.7 is definitely nothing to scoff at.
The time for the GT seems about right, but the R/T a little slow. I'd guess the all-seasons (RS-A2's) require a little feathering, and the engine isn't really broken in. It should loosen up by 5K miles. My R/T came with those tires, and I couldn't launch aggressively at all. Replaced them with Firestone Firehawk summer tires (245)...what a difference. Running low 5's consistently with a few 5 flats (perfect launch and in winter Florida air). The app your using is interesting!
I just bought 2022 black on black sxt challenger 3000 miles , had windows and sidemarkers tinted black , 20 inch black wheels 6 cyl plenty for me , car looks great all blacked out love it
Both cars were to new to really get an accurate 0-60. My 2017 t/a plus and its replacement, 2019 t/a 392 got faster once they were broke in.. it seems to me once They hit 2000 miles they both were noticeably stronger than when they were new.
I'm getting 5.1 with my R/T but its also well broken in with 60k miles on it. All in all though I just love the looks of the challenger no matter what model it is!! There all fun!
The best I've been able to do is 5.0 a few times with a perfect launch and good air (during the winter here in FL). Most of the time it's in the low 5's, though. I've always felt it had another tenth or two left in her, but it's been elusive.
Love the v6 cars. My mom has a v6 with the 8 speed which really changed the game for the v6. I just wish the v6 had a larger aftermarket. If it did, I feel that many more people would opt for it instead of the R/T
I belong to quite a few groups on Facebook. Best stock 0-60s I've seen anyone post are 4.7 for an R/T and 5.5 for a V6. But the average is probably about 5.3 for the 5.7L and 6.1 for the 3.6L.
@@mattmurrayrocks thats really good. But you also have to remember that those times on the screen might not be perfectly accurate. But still 4.8 is a number I've seen people post before so I don't doubt it. Best on my car is 5.0 and I did a 5.5 without even knowing the car as it was the 2nd time I drove it.
@@timmypstyle it's hard to imagine the timer on the dash being off..with that said, I've tried a few times to top that 4 8 and just can't...and shifting myself it's actually worse lol...and I haven't used the launch yet (just haven't been in enough empty space to give it a go)
Cool video and a great comparison. I'm a surprised that the RT wasn't a little faster. I've been looking into getter a GT AWD, but with the prices it seems hard to justify the GT AWD when the RT is priced about the same. But, my daily drive is a Mustang Premium Ecoboost and I've gotten 5.4 on the 0 to 60 with it stock. Looks like the AWD for me. Love the videos!!!
I own a Go Mango colored 2019 R/T and any chance I get on the road, I do 0-60 tests. About 30% of the time I get a little bit of a spin out on the tires. The other 70% it goes with no traction issues. My best time so far is 5.8 on 0-60. When driving the R/T, you just feel like a king with all that power under the hood. I enjoy seeing other R/Ts being debuted. Everyone tends to only want to talk about Scat packs and Hellcats.
@@1993bassmasta I almost made mine blue with the black stripe down the middle. However, the mango with the R/T stripe on the side won me over on the vintage look. :)
I really like that video, love the content I love being able to drive down the street or highway and see these cars and know exactly what those cars will do, great information, and that widebody redeye in the smoke was awesome, my widebody hellcat is white and black but man do I love that smoke color, Again, great video RacerX!
Same I personally wouldn't buy a V6 muscle car, but there are some people that make me hate the v6's like being obnoxious and I am like "bro it's just a v6" but if I got a great deal on it I would go for the GT trim level they are better than the sxt and look amazing
Amen, I bought a Focus ST! Near Identical straight line performance as a V6 Camaro of the same year (2013) but none of the stigma that surrounds the non V8 muscle, plus it's fun in it's own special way being a high tech FWD turbo vs N/A RWD Camaro. Plus, it comes with 3 pedals only 😎 as soon as I can get my ass in a V8 though, I'll get that!!
I had a 2010 GT (new)...It had a 4.6L. Beast of a car back in the day. The new generation of motors (across all manufacturers) smoke it. I would say even the V6 cars have 300+ HP, which is a lot. Especially on the street. You're not going to win races on the track, but its MORE than enough for street use and they don't break the bank. And you can get them optioned out...
I like the V6 Challenger just fine. 0-60 in 6.56 is very slightly less than my BoltEV. That is to say, quite fast enough for me. Too much power and my DL would collect points faster than my mom used to collect S&H Green Stamps when I was young.
Great video! I raced my 2018 5.0 Mustang at the dragstrip in sport mode and drive for comparison sake. I got faster times with it in drive. The shift points are the same at wide open throttle and the shifts are actually quicker in drive. I wish my car had drag mode. I plan on racing my 23 R/T Challenger soon and I’m going to try it both ways as well.
There all good except Tesla, lol but it really all depends on your budget. Challengers are expensive to insure so the V6 is good option for a daily driver for me to work
Model 3 bud, I have a 2020 sp wb in i guess one of the 70 hellraisins, lots of fun, 13 mpg of 93. I think its a flavor sort of thing, I weekend drive mine, no snow no rain. My other is a 20 year old camry, thats my daily. I swore i would buy a pickup when I traded my rt, but that raisin widebody plus caught my eye, do you man.
@@DarrylH1387 the challenger RT im kinda set on is virtually the same MSRP as the tesla model 3. Tesla is ugly but fast. Challenger is gorgeous but not as good in the snow.
@@alanlilly5004 the hellraisin/plum crazy is a big reason i want a challenger. I live in maine and there is literally no challenger on the lot that color in this state i can find.
Good video. The GT times are slower than my AWD though, but your results are close to what I expected. I expected the RT low 5s and the GT closer to 6 flat. But 8 tenths is about what I expected. If you have the opportunity to do this again, use the AWD in Sport with launch control. You will be closer to 6 flat if not high 5s. I regularly see guys with AWDs posting 0 to 60s in 5.7 - 6.0. I don't know Why Dodge played around with the GT trim. When launched it was the AWD trim level and that was its purpose. Now it's all over the place like the other trims. Just make it the GT trim with AWD and the appropriate equipment package like it launched with. GT Plus ..... come on, it's getting to be a complicated trim like the others now.
He had the R/T in eco mode. In sport, it does 5.0 easily. I get that consistently without trying. He can't drive. Sorry but the GT is significantly slower than the R/T.
@@JohnJones-cg2xm I can't say he can't drive ..... lol. That's a hefty observation. There has to be extenuating circumstances as to why he did the test like this. Dealer cars, not familiar with them, ect. But I know the GT AWD is consistently quicker than these numbers and you say the same for the RT. The interesting thing though is he is about .8 seconds quicker in the RT and if you figure your stated numbers vs mine, we are about the same as his numbers.
@@Ryzenberg78 I don't know the actual v6 numbers but I can get a consistent 5 second number and some 4.9s. A second is a lot of time if you are looking at drag racing. It's not all about speed for me though. I like the sound and feel of a V8 and the fact that v8s seem to hold up forever and have less problems than the smaller engines. Also, if you race the R/T at any kind of roll, especially 60 mph, it destroys the V6. There is endless high end power in the R/T. A lot of cars do well 0-40, then the v8 comes on strong and they die out.
@@JohnJones-cg2xm I like the 5.7. For me it's one of the best sounding engines. I wanted the AWD though and the 3.6L wasn't a big turn-off for me. Love my car. It's a fun car.
WHAT DO YOU GAIN WITH WIDE BODY OPTION VS. NON WIDE BODY IN THE SCAT PACK OPTION? BETTER ACCELERATION? WHAT DO YOU GIVE UP? TOP END SPEED? IN THIS SCENARIO IT WOULD BE WITH THE 392 HEMI WITH 8 SPD. AUTO.
You get the wider wheels and tires .. bigger brakes.. and dynamic suspension modes. Essentially adjustable ride, better traction, and better stopping 👍
@@RacerX9 THANKS PRICED ONE OUT COST $50,000. HOPEFULLY THOSE WIDER TIRES AND WHEELS WILL ELIMINATE THAT FISHTAILING ACCELERATION/TRACTION PROBLEM. I STILL NEED A COMFORTABLE RIDE ON THESE BUMPY ROADS.
They all have traction problems, ultimately the p zeros don't do it either, 20 sp wb in hellraisin. They work but will still wobble hard. I dont line up, but I wouldn't with them, all the way around you can rotate them tho. Thanks for the vid man.
I assume its the extra grip with the wider tires, but I can achieve 3.9-4.0 second 0-60s consistently in my 2020 widebody. All stock, including the tires.
Was really considering a scat pack but as my first personally owned car I’m just gonna op for the RT. Sweet V8 and sweet sound. Solid performance and a good daily driver. The Scat Pack is pricier and takes 91 Octane. Imma start with an R/T and see how the next few years go.
your times for 0-60 are quite shocking. I had a 2018 SXT challenger rental that did a 0-60 in 6.0 seconds rather consistently. When I rented an R/T with the 5.7L, I was getting 5.2 sec 0-60s. And I'm in the Las Vegas summer where the DA is 5000ish. I even have pictures of the on board timers to show friends that the lower trim level versions are still pretty quick. my scat pack challenger gets 4.2 sec 0-60s with my drag radials. these times are all based on brake boosting the car to around 1500-2500 rpm, depending on what traction allowed. the street really is the great equalizer. i have a friend with a hellcat that hasn't been able to get it under 4.5 seconds due to the traction limitations of that 275 tire. so when i saw my 5.2 second 0-60 time with the 5.7L Hemi, i was quite surprised.
I was actually thinking the same thing, I have a 2017 Challenger R/T and I consistently get 5.1 sec 0-60s and I still have the stock 245's on that bad boy.
15 R/T here. Literally base R/T. No paddle shifters, little 5 or 6 inch radio, etc. I bought it used but my first try in the car, which was 3 days after buying it and my 2nd time driving it, I got 5.5 seconds. Previous owner has a best of 5.0 recorded. Has the Firestone firehawk gt tires on it with stock size and stock wheels.

Great vid Racer X , what was the price difference between the two ? The 50th anniversary car with the matte black hood is cool with its sleeper appearance look . Cheers
@@RacerX9 Thank you Mr. X on that note if I were looking into one of those two cars and had to choose I’m sure the $6k wouldn’t be much more on a payment , depending on one’s credit score of course . Cheers
Yeah, but you also have to keep in mind that the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Mazda 6 are all quicker by a significant margin, and those are family economy sedans. In fact, the Honda Accord would even beat the R/T. The weight kills these things.
@@doubleo4470 The 2.0 Sport 10-speed has a significant gearing advantage and doesn't suffer from traction issues. The problem with the Chargers is they're shipped with a terrible wheel/tire setup, and the rear end gearing is way too low. On a prepped track surface, the results of both cars are extremely similar, but the Accord won't lose performance on the street as much as the Charger would. I've had Challengers and Chargers in the past. They are disappointingly sloppy off the dealer lot and require many mods to get them to put power down properly. The Accord is a hell of a sleeper that most people don't pay attention to.
I'm a proud owner of a 2016 Charger R/T But always HellCat dreaming. But I went from a Dart SXT to Charger R/T and everytime i pass a non V8 car, i feel so good lol!
Not as much of a difference as I figured it would be. I'm more than happy with my SXT. Quick enough for anything I need to do, plus good mpg and cheap(er) insurance. Great video!
I had a 2020 GT that I got new for $35,500 I ended up trading it in not even a year later for a new R/T, they gave me $31,000 for the trade and I owed $12,000 on my new R/T. I am happy with the R/T and wish I would have got one to begin with. I thought at first I only wanted a challenger for the looks but man once I saw and heard those V8s my mind changed big time. My advice, if you can not afford the R/T just save up for it and get it they are not that much more expensive if you get one without a lot of extra packages.
Love it, love it, love it, love it! Love these trims of the beautiful Challenger more than the more sporty Scat Packs and Hellcats. These trims are peppy and sporty but still manage to fly "under the radar" due to the less aggressive styling. Finally love the videos, very fun and lively!
I have always said the GT AWD would be neat to see how it compares to the RT. I bet it does better than the regular GT and when you factor in the AWD probably a great car. I drive the V8 Charger for work and it is a very sure footed and fast ride.
People saying these times are slower than what you get need to realize that the dragy does not factor in roll out like a lot of the on board timers do. Can definitely account for a couple .10's. I do believe you can calibrate the dragy to factor in roll out tho
The biggest factor about these two cars is that the GT is available in AWD while the RT is not. AWD gives more traction so if you do a GT AWD vs an RT you might have closer results. Cause most people who settle for a v6 are probably doing so for the AWD option.
exactly why I got my 18 gt plus the AWD I get lots of snow where I'm at plus a long commute to work love my car comfortable drive and 300+ ponies is good enough got a cold air and some exhaust work so maybe sitting about 315 I'm not racing my car
Great Video! Turned out like I thought it would. Thought the RT would have spun those 245s more than it did!? Anything less than a 275 usually goes to "Spin City"!!!😃👍
I have a 2019 GT. I got a 4.7 0-60 in manual mode. It was cold that day which helped some. I've never been able to come close to it again. Been at 5.4 a couple of times but cant get back below the 5 mark.
Somebody have a fun job! :) And my favorite car is still an Challenger 1971! And now as older (65 ) i must say the Kia Stinger is my favorite! Good video anyway!
I love my 16' challenger sxt. I recently got my 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. only mod to my car is a cai but man does the car feel great and for a v6 sound amazing.
As someone who started with an 18 sxt to a gt and now an rt the difference is definitely there. I love the rt. It’s got the sound I was missing. Didn’t know the gts could have super track pack. That’s awesome. Sxt got 6 seconds exact and rt is at 5.5 now
@@matthewsmyth8815 if you want the sound and extra performance and to keep your decent gas mileage go for the rt. The sxt is a great car if you want the looks and gas mileage. Obviously v6 to v8 is a difference but it wasn’t as much as I had hoped and ended up getting a scat pack a few months ago. It’s a pig, gas prices are at an all time high and I get about 14 in the city but it’s so much fun. It really comes down to the balance of practicality vs performance you are looking for
@@matthewsmyth8815 or you could wait and see what dodge does with their new inline 6 twin turbo engine. My best in my SXT plus (w/super track pack) was 6.0 on the performance pages. More often it's between 6.0 and 6.5 but I'm pretty happy with my ride. Maybe a RIPP supercharger is in the future but really I love how it feels in sport mode and with the leather seats and heated/cooled seats I'm super happy with my ride!

Better tires should set me at 5.4 but a 2021 GT+ is beckoning me offering a beyond excellent trade tomorrow. Engine is supposed to have more ponies ,will see by noon tomorrow
Fun video! 👍👍 Been telling the younger guys the new V6's aren't that bad especially for a first car. Everyone has to start somewhere! Cool to see a stock R/T and the GT in the real world 0-60, thank you. My modded Charger R/T has the stock Challenger by over a full second to 60! LOL!
I have an sxt best time is 5.7. but inconsistent. These R/Ts on a good launch can go in high 4s bad launch mid to high 5s. While our cars on a band launch will do 6.5-7. And that's because they come with skinny 245s. Throw some 275s and sticky tires and you'll be in the 4s all day
I've gotten 5.8 in my '18 Charger GT AWD. Need to have the AWD for the winters here in Central PA (with the heated seats and steering wheel its a perfect winter/all season car). Would love a Scat Pack but the GT is plenty for me 98% of the time.
Traction control really hurts the 0-60 in the r/t. I’ve got a 5spd 2012 challenger r/t with upgraded summer tires and a few basic bolt ons/ tune I’ve gotten a 4.9 with a dragy on the street
I have some all season 255's on my Challenger R/T and I get 5.0's and 5.1's with the occasional 4.9's on the street all day, and is neck and neck with the q50. Although it does take awile to get firmiliar with the low end torque of the hemi to get the best time possible on the street which is why RacerX had such trouble with the considerable amount of wheelspin. Also the stock tires are trash and you'll run 5.5's unless it gets above 90° and a nice burnout. Lastly, I know he drives a scat pack, but the r/t although so similar is totally different when launching it making it difficult to adapt from another Mopar so surprisingly... interesting to say the least.
If he drives a scat pack you would think he would know how to turn on sport mode. He didn't. Strange. My R/T does the same as yours even with 245s and in heat.
@@JohnJones-cg2xm The 255's aren't needed in higher temps its that when it gets colder the times dont slip as much. But a good driver probably could get 4.8's or less out of an R/T if they did it just right. But they'd probably need 275's for that and 100° temps on a nitrous cooled intake.
@@TheJwalk1234 they’re fun af to drive lol since that first comment I’ve owned an 07 Charger RT with comp cams headers and tuned. Also a 17 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 lol so I’ve became a lot more familiar with them and can definitely say they’re faster than the v6 😂 especially that initial torque.
I was thinking of trading my SXT in for an RT since they are discontinuing the V8’s in 2023 but I don’t know if it’s worth it. I only paid $26k out the door for my SXT. The RT’s start at $42k. Don’t think it’s worth paying $16k+ more for an RT when it’s 0-60 is only 1 second faster than the car I have now.
@@just_a5.7 No mods. The transmission is incredibly fast, and if you can keep from spinning 5.0 is not too tough to get, but I do get a lot of 5.2s. Never did nearly as bad ad 5.6 or 5.7. The racer x guy doesn't have the car in sport, so yeah, the trans will lag in normal mode. So that's a start. Looks like he either can't drive, or is trying to push the Scat pack which is crazy fast. I would get a scat pack if I could do it over, they are a lot of fun.
I own a 2020 GT AWD because I live in Buffalo NY which has long winters… it has 305 hp and I’ve gotten it to 60mph in under 6sec driving it manual, planning on upping the hp with a performance chip and cold air intake which will add approximately 70hp making it comparable to the RT at 375hp.
No. R/t with auto should get it in 5.0 consistently. I usually get around 5.2 but got 4.9 once. I never work at getting better or pushing it. I think you could even do better with launch control. The GT is a dog.
John Jones 5.0? Maybe you had 275 width tires? With 245’s it was always a little spin then hooked and 5.2 but you’re right a little playing with and you can definitely get it to 5 seconds flat
@@Changed2024 I had 245a then switched to 275 and they do hook up a lot better. If I hit it just right with some summer 245s I was able to get quick times.
Sure glad I stuck with my s4. Was testing the waters on the challenger scatpack and rt but my s4 v6 supercharged is faster and quicker but it's awd. I understand scat and rt is rear wheel drive . I still love the challenger alot and am still looking to get one eventually. Challenger is my favorite muscle car next to a Ford Torino and Amex javelin. A trick I use to get faster 0-60 times is to use the auto stick or paddle shifters in sport. Best I got in an SXT was 5.9 and best I got in an RT was 5.5. Both completely stock but it is hard to get those times consistently 😂

Love that Hellraisen Chally! That and in the gold paint trim is FANTASTIC! I noticed that on the RT and GT, they are calling back to a 1971 grill. Even as heavy as these cars are 300hp is plenty sufficient for some spirited driving on the street. Would be interested to see how much the additional weight of the AWD system would effect performance given that the stock rubber can obviously handle the V6's power just fine.

@RUclips Legend The GT is AWD and I live in the Northeast.

I do with some Mods 3.7 in my R/T and solid 4.7 when it was stock so I don't know what u folks doing 😂
Put premium gas in it it will give it a little more h.p it's been proven best I ran was 4.8 to 60

The v6 is tempting since it’s cheaper but I always tell myself if I ever get a challenger it has to be a V8.
Then get a camaro or mustang, the base model v8 from dodge loses to 4 bangers. They are heavy as shit and only have 375 hp. Dodge has the record for the LOWEST hp for a v8. It sucks ass. Save your money. Either get a scat or something else

I had a 2010 Mustang GT. And it's just incredible that today's V6 engines outperform yesterday's V8s. Its amazing stuff.
@@danielsherrill7085 Yeah no kidding. Less weight and forced induction is the way to go over displacement.
I mean, some of today's v6s outperform them, but the 2010 gt had like a 5.2 0-60 which I think only the camaro v6 beats rn without turbos

Another great video as expected! Love this channel.
Great video! This is why most SXT/GT owners skip past the RT and upgrade to a scatpack. The difference between 3.6 and 5.7 isn’t worth the price tag. I’m consistently pulling 5.8 0-60s in my SXT.
Yep very true that’s why I’m jumping straight into scatpack when I’m done with my v6.

I’m with ya.. 5.1 is solid for an RT on the street
When I had my RT I would also hit 5.1 consistently with 275s on the rear.

Yes lots at variables in this test
I was actually thinking the same thing, I have a 2017 Challenger R/T and I consistently get 5.1 sec 0-60s and I still have the stock 245's on that bad boy.
I have a 2020 rt in the smoke show with the super trac pack option launching at 1600 hitting constant 4.9 on stock tires
15 R/T here. Literally base R/T. @@kellz8191 Maybe 7000? I don't remember. I have a 21 scat pack now the r/t is a turtle lol
Great point.. similar to shallow staging at the track
Rollout is cheating 😂
These cars can be tough to hook up from a dig.. this car only had 7 miles on too.. so the tire still have that oil on them 👍

I have a 2019 GT. I got a 4.7 0-60 in manual mode. It was cold that day which helped some. I've never been able to come close to it again. Been at 5.4 a couple of times but cant get back below the 5 mark.
I just bought the same car 👍🏻 I haven’t timed anything but it feels pretty quick to me and I love it. First muscle car for me
Somebody have a fun job!
Sxt got 6 seconds exact and rt is at 5.5 now
Do you think its worth going from a 2010 v6 to a newer gt or would it be better just to spend the extra money and go for the v8?
It should be going into chargers in the next few years. 400 hp for the standard and 500 for the high output. It will also be much easier to mod since it will be a boosted car if you are into modding
Don't mess with it and it will hold its value. Just throw a High performance K@N filter in it for 50 bucks . You'll never have to buy another one and the pedal response is night and day. You'll love that sport ahellofalotmore in your first test after 20 minute installation. Dropped my GT+ A full 3 seconds 0-60. 5.8 from a 6.1 in no time at all. Then bought a HellCat box with a light duct tube for a bill and now I'm a consistent 5.6 over and over.
LOL!
I have a 2020 challenger gt awd plus.. I hit 0 to 60 in 5.8 to 6 sec using launch control. Thats stock as well. Crazy how close
Any basic mod suggestions? Recently got a 2010 rt classic and omg the traction control makes racing impossible 🤣
I managed to do 5.8 in my 2016 SXT on many occasions, but usually it gets 5.9-6.0
People sleep on the 3.6 it’s basically almost as fast as the 5.7 just doesn’t have the sound.
@@jellyjam777false put 275 tires on R/T and you get 5 flat which won’t come close in v6

Racer x i have a charger daytona 345 it runs a 5.3 0-60 i wonder do that cold air intake matters u should do a video
4.9 for my 15 challenger with the auto 5.7. 5.0 all day consistently. This guy can't drive.
@@JohnJones-cg2xm wat mods
The V6 times are close to last couple V6 cars I’ve driven. That RT was slower though, was seeing consistent 5.1s in last RT I drove.
Much depends on traction and DA 👍
Yeah I have a 2019 rt and I am getting a 5.1 too!

The v6 variant is really only a good choice if you’re looking for a year round rig running AWD. With studded tires it’s a monster in the snow.
It’s crazy to think about how the dodge demon goes 0 to 60 in 2.3 seconds
Mine goes 2.0 on the track.. not too bad for a 4 door sedan.. the street is entirely different
Damn im late😅 but i really enjoy these comparisons!
