    Reminds me of us filipinos call Bistek-tagalog or beef-steak. Search for it, you wife is definitely gonna love it.

    I LOVE gyudon! I order it at Yoshinoya, Sukiya and Marugame often. It is cheap but so yummy. I ask to add soft-boiled eggs and I add Togarashi to make it a bit more spicy. I want to try making it too by folloing your recipe. Thanks for showing is how it is cooked. 👍

    I'm going to try this at home.. my aunt used to live in Japan for almost more than 10 years and I've never seen her cook Japanese food because back then the availability of japanese ingredients here in the Philippines is really scarce and expensive but now there's a lot of japanese products in malls that are available. I love watching to your RUclips channel. More subscribers.

    Amazing! This looks almost similar to the filipino bistek however it only used onions and garlic is optional, you should try cooking it Hiro san, if you could find calamansi there its much better because its one of the things that give bistek its distinct umami. 😍

    Isn't the beef marinated prior to cooking? I'm not exactly sure but that is what was told to me when I was stationed at NAF Atsugi. Loved eating this dish every chance I got. Thank you so much for posting this video. My wife always wanted to try some of the food I ate while I was there (met her after the military) and now I can. Will be binge watching more of your videos now!

    Didn't know gyudon is so easy to make! I can't wait to try this recipe. Btw, can you recommend substitutes for sake and mirin? Those ingredients arent easilyavailable in my country unless ordered from a shopping site.

      If you use thinly sliced pork with this recipe, you can cook butadon. But there are some types of butadon. Is the one you ate sweet & savory?

    How do you make the soft egg that you placed on top of the rice? Anyhow, I called it the Ramen egg…..Is it correct?

      I think you meant Onsen egg 😊 Put eggs in boiling water, turn the heat off and wait for 12 min. Then you have onsen eggs! 👍

    One of my favorite Japanese dish! I always get this in Yoshinoya. I’ve tried this at home a couple years ago, the broth or the soup is the same but I failed on the cut of beef. Mine was thicker, so I’m disappointed. It’s hard to find or ask a butcher to cut beef as thin as that. 😢
