The Purge pillows sounds like a kick a$$ idea.
You're going to enjoy New Nightmare. Wes Craven gets meta, it has the baby from 80's Pet Semetery plus Jon Saxon and Heather Langdenkamp return
The sequel is popular with the LGBT++ community for being very LGBT++ in character
Please react Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp the new 2024 movie 🙏🤣❤️
Ok let me help you guys out 2 is never really referred to as part 2 A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors is though.
Am I the only one who thought it felt weird to have Roxy on the right side of the screen rather than the left, as she usually is? 🤯😆
YES!
Immediately threw me off...and no purge pillow!!! This review had no chance
Then discussing the framing of the opening shots. Am I dreaming? 😱
Yeah
She's still hot though whatever side she's on
"I don't feel like Freddy needs revenge I mean. HES the problem"
Ok that got me for some reason
Right because I thought about that too
Now he's a MONSTER. 🤣🤣🤣
The next movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, is my favorite from this franchise. I think you'll both really like it.
Yes!
Facts Freddy's powers become busted af in that movie
It's when the franchise found itself. Freddy was not worth being just a basic slasher
Dream Warriors is a wild ride. I am sure they will have a blast!
Definitely, mine too
Fun / Sad fact: Robert Rusler who played Ron Grady said that when he watched the film in theaters with his dad, he glanced over during his death scene when he's banging on the door and yelling for his father's help and his real dad was crying.
Your comment needs a teacher's edit
@@moxiemaxie3543 Best part is when you failed to elaborate why
nothing wrong with how he said it jeez
@@moxiemaxie3543I bet in school your teacher was you only give loser vibes.
@@FarikoWishless When you need an explanation as to why... -_-
Fun Fact. They tried to make this movie without Robert Englund; but they quickly realized that was a mistake.
Yup, the Freddy in the school showers killing the teacher was not Robert for example.
I didn’t know that huh
@@darkmarv8045 Actually I believe it's just the shot of him in the steam that's not Freddy!
They talked about this at the end AND elaborated. Watch the video before commenting
The Freddy from the shower scene was the terrible actor who was going to replace Englund as Freddy. Since his performance was so bad they rehired Robert Englund.
The 3rd one Dream Warriors is the best of the sequels. I also like New Nightmare when Wes came back. 😊
Yup, def should watch the next one.
Part 4 is the best imo
@@outshyne666 Part 4 does have some classic kills, but def a step down from 3.
@@hrs2044 But still better then 2. I don't know what Entertainment Weekly was smoking there.
Same!!! 3 and 4 are so good but 3 is my absolute favorite!
When they made this film, they hadn’t yet realized that Freddy was franchise material, that’s mainly why most of the rules of the first film weren’t obeyed in terms of Freddy attacking the kids and all. The third film reestablishes that really well.
Now that this is out of the way, you should like the next one
I thought they were just trying a different approach where Freddie is trying to be reborn through Jessie. And he “fails” so he goes back to haunting kids dreams.
@@MrFilbot Think of this movie as more of an Anthology type movie for Freddy Krueger himself - similar backstory and general characters, but with some obvious differences for things like powers, overall layout, etc. This one was an allegory for coming out as gay - this was confirmed in 2010 by the writer himself after denying it for more than 2 decades. Almost ironic in some way.
The more Freddy takes over Jesse’s body, the more the nightmares bleed into reality. That’s why so much of dreamlike shit starts to happen in reality. The heat and fire is him like being reborn. He was killed by fire twice. All the people killed were killed because Jesse fell asleep, and Freddy took over his body in the real world. That is the bulk of the story that isn’t connecting, but makes sense when you put the pieces together. Everyone who is attacked by Freddy, sees Freddy.
This movie has strong homosexual undertones, and that this is the very first gay slasher film.
A documentary was released, titled Scr, Queen: My Nightmare On Elm Street, where Mark Patton reveals that the movie made him come out of the closet.
Its a coming out story of sorts. The most hilarious thing about that documentary is that the filmmakers look completely bewildered as they try to tell us they didn't realize how gay many of the scenes were while making it. They really tried to say they did not know the shower scene was basically a gay leather porn scene. The "I feel stupid" looks on their faces were priceless.
I was at the film fest premiere of that, it's pretty awesome! Still friends with the directors
It literally does not have homosexual undertones... it has the one scene with the s&m bar and the shower death but Freddy specifically targets the wants and fears of his victims.... I think it's fine to have this perspective or take on the film but if the people working on film completely disagree with you then it clearly wasn't their intention to create anything remotely homosexual...
Just because the director and writer weren’t aware of the obvious subtext, doesn’t mean that it’s not there. And art is subjective. If the viewer takes away something different than those who created it, what’s wrong with that? Besides, it’s widely accepted that this movie is heavily coded gay. Deal with it
@@codybishop7526 did you read what you just wrote? The writer the person who created the story and dialogue and the directer, the person who visualized the film, are somehow "unaware of homosexual subtext"? They created it! That's like telling a straight person theyre homosexual they just done know it. To call this the first gay horror slasher is a stretch when again absolutely no one working on this film intended it to be that way.
To answer yalls question “why” he’s in the teen boy, Jesse.
Freddy is bounded by the home (in this point of the series), and he feeds off of fear. As long as the fear of “Freddy Krueger” is in the air. He’s alive to k*ll in the dreams. He’s trying to use Jesse to build the fear of Freddy in the town to bring him back (hints Freddy’s Revenge). Jesse is the avatar of Freddy in NME st 2.
Also, Freddy’s reason for being “alive” was to get back at the parents that k*lled him. That’s why he’s k*lling kids (teens).
Please don’t be discouraged the next one is the best. I’m real surprised that the tan lines were one of the things you noticed. Nobody ever brought it up. The transformation was amazing as a positive to this
This movie is absolutely awesome. I just recently learned that a lot people don't like it.
It does have a cult like following. 👍 I know I still dig it.
Okay the Actress's name is Kim Myers, and YES she does look like a very young Meryl Streep in fact that's how she landed the role. She's also in HELLRAISER BLOODLINE..
I’ve always pronounced his name like “England” but might be wrong. lol
PURGE!!
You're not wrong
Yes pretty much sounds like England
I liked the fact that Nancy was mentioned in this second film, and one thing i never thought of is that she didn,t appear in this sequel because the city of Springwood thought she was crazy, hence the fact that she left the city. Nancy indirectly helped Jesse and Lisa fight Freddie Krueger through the instructions she left in her diary.9
I used to have a reoccurring nightmare of the bus teetering when i was a kid.
One thing I miss about movies, that they nail perfectly in 80s - 00s. Everyone looked “normal”. No one is unnaturally attractive. Makes the movies feel more relatable and real, bc all the actors looked like every day people.
Grady was pretty fit!
Oh no, they’re calling Michael Bay now for the remake.
@@MrFilbot he's a normal hot guy that you'd see in school though. Compare him to Zach Efron in High School Musical whose nose job made him look unnaturally handsome.
Nah bros hot idk what you mean
Freddy has the POWER OF DREAMS- he an do ANYTHING in dreams (set things on fire, move things, disappear), and in the real world when he's pulled out of the dreamworld. They see freddy not the boy.
This was the first 'scary' movie I saw in a theater. I can appreciate the dark humor more as an adult.
One of my favorite horror film moments is in this film, when Freddy shows up to the pool Party. Not many times in a horror movie when everyone actually sees the bad guy.
As a diehard fan, I hate to see him because it doesn’t make sense that he’s in the real world like this and I think I read somewhere that Robert England hated it toO
They see Jesse... We (and Jesse) see Freddy
The most hated moment in the history of the entire franchise is your favorite? That’s unique
I’m so ready see Roxy and Tara react to Dream Warriors, the best of the Freddy sequels.
Before you guys watch Freddy vs Jason you guys need to the Friday the 13th movies to get the lore of the movie in my opinion. Love you girls. Best dual queens
1985 Girls, " he's cute "
2024 Girls, " Creeper , Possible psychopath "
The main guy? I was a teen in 85 and he wasn't cute
@@kimberlyjeanne9456what drugs were you using
Freddy can do whatever someone imagine in his dream world, anything is possible but he needs the fear of his victims to have his powers. Once he has enough power he can go to the victims minds and once their victims is asleep he can take full control. Another part of this is when the human body is so sleep deprived sometimes our minds go into a state of sleep even if our bodies are still awake
I see you enjoy the Lore as much as I do. question friend, have you ever had a Freddy Krueger nightmare? I have… which made the movies real IRLlol because he exist in dreams but I’m real and dreamed him….s’deeper. I just remember as a kid I was terrified lol.
I do feel the 09 reboot actually did an ok job of explaining that concept. Even though I didn't care for other parts if that film.
For Jesse and his family to live in the very same house that Nancy Thompson had encountered Freddy Krueger, the Springwood Slasher himself, is a NIGHTMARE by itself!!!!😱
different color door lol1 and 7 had blue door
Say something *Nice* about Nightmare 2.... aaaand GO!!
He is the final guy and the first scream king.
Something nice about 2... Hmmm... Watching 2 hopefully means we get to see your reaction to 3 soon! (which is one of the best in the franchise)
Yeah it basically forced him out of the closet.
Ooof, okay, here goes: It offered audiences some truly bonkers gay/closeted subtext at a time when most mainstream movies still shied away from those themes entirely. The story of a teenager struggling with a secret “monster” inside him, afraid he’ll lose control at the wrong time. He keeps trying to suppress/defeat the monster by kissing a girl, but the monster always comes back eventually. 😅
1) Freddy is stil dark and menacing 2) The gay panic subtext gives it an angle that was unique for the time and still makes it worth talking about
3) Clu Gulager is in it. If you know... you know.
It’s mostly not nightmares. This one is really confusing. But he just used Jesse to be in the real world. So Freddy was doing stuff he could do in the dreams. And yes everyone was seeing Freddy not Jesse at the pool party.
Every time that comments have told them that a movie they're about to watch isn't good, they start looking for reasons to dislike the movie instead of going into it with an open mind and it really affects the reactions.
Eh this is the weakest of the original core set minus the remake
@@WickedXombieDigiKing that has no bearing on my statement, nor is it accurate
You made your statement on this particular Nightmare movie and so their answer is on point.
As for whether it’s accurate or not, this film was absolutely ridiculed for years in horror circles (conventions, magazines) and only became a cult classic because of the amazing gay undertones.
As a horror film, it severely lacks and doesn’t make a lot of sense.
I do see that happening with some youtubers, but I'm not convinced that's the case here. Their critisms were regarding the script, and pretty much match the main critism Wes Craven had too. I personally like the film a lot regardless.
@@RebornLevellerwe'll never know and that's the point. They went into it expecting it to be worse than the original and then proceeded to look for such things to find out for themselves. We can't know if, had they not been prompted to consider it to be anything other than the next movie, if they would have focused on the same things or not. Just like when someone uploads a picture of a hundred number 3's along with text asking how fast can you find the number 8..... guess what everyone is going to do?
21:27 COP: "We found this one swimming naked in the Fermentarium."
JESSE: "I am the Lizard Queen!" :)
I'm not really a horror fan, but I support Tara and Roxy and am willing to watch these with them because they make the experience fun
❤❤❤ I love this!!!
The bird: starts on fire
Roxy: “Did the bird start on fire???”
22:10 Attitudes toward mental healthcare in the 80s, folks. No wonder so many people are so screwed. Instead of dealing with problems you just ignore them or "tough it out." Glad things have started to change.
I find it fun that you two try to find deep meaning in this movie. This was a turn your brain off and watch slasher film. lol. Hope you do the third one- my personal favorite.
There actually is a deeper meaning
Let Tara and Roxy do the entire Freddie franchise.
I hope they let them do the Friday The 13th Movies
You ladies are so fun too watch, I love the dynamic between you two.. I give this movie like a 6 out of 10.
❤❤❤ thank you love
What is it with Some reactors trying to create their own story instead of actually watching the story that's been given to them😂😂😂😂
There was no story here
@rmhartman you think I'm only talking about this movie that they were watching??? watch More of their reactions,They do it to almost every other movies as well
It gets confusing since he’s trying to take over Jesse’s body so things start affecting the real world while he’s awake. He’s using Jesse to bring him victims so he’ll be more powerful again. leading to where he just popped out at the pool party. That crazy scene
This is my favorite KME st movie. Has the best Freddy design (they gave him more of a witch appearance, pointed ears, longer nose.. etc), he looks more sinister and gross. His mental terror on the main character is the best. Also has one of the best practical effects.
Plus, the family dynamic is the best in the series
Freddy’s plan here is to inspire more people to fear him. He was never going to become Jesse and come back to life. It was just about having him be able to invade more people’s dreams because of their fears.
Dream warriors is awesome continue with the franchise
It helps when you know the actor who plays Jessie is gay ( and has become an official scream queen).
A day late, but just couldn't miss this! Yeah! Roxy and Tara are official mood boosters!
❤❤❤
Is anyone else feeling uneasy that they are sitting in the wrong seats lol
My head cannon that keeps everything working is that the last half of the movie is all a dream.
Like when I was a kid if my bus driver drove passed my house I would start freaking out
You’re ending explanation is a great set up for the beginning of part 3. I’ve rewatched all of them several times because I enjoy them a lot!! No matter how good or bad.
Yall making me so happy with these horror movie reactions 🤗
I'm surprised y'all didn't pick up on Freddy essentially being a quasi representation of Jesse's repressed homosexuality. He's trying to "enter" and "takeover his body".
"The Hidden" is an underrated gem! Sci-Fi/Horror with tons of action! Fast paced with just enough of a story to warrant it a Grade "A" B movie! Kyle MacLachlan is perfect in his role
I agree. It was really fun and well done
Fun fact: my acting manager manages Robert Englund 😮💨
Yeah this one barfed, bring on #3! (Roxie, your fedupness with this movie were my sentiments exactly, here's hoping the next one can redeem 😂).
To answer a couple questions, as far as I've heard Robert Englund's name is pronounced England, like the country.
It can be confusing figuring out the real world and dream world stuff and what Freddy is able to do and why, but it's generally understood that because Freddy started out as human that he does have some influence over the real world with his dream powers, he seems to generally be able to influence things nearby his victims.
Because this movie isn't as well liked as most of the others and because Wes Craven didn't like it the rest of the franchise generally ignores this movie in continuity, they never really decanonize it, but they just don't really talk about it in continuity.
a lot of the fire stuff is probably a reference to Freddy using the boiler room but also because Freddy died by burning as mentioned in the first movie.
the 3rd movie is generally seen as good, 4, 5, and 6 are hit or miss with the audience, New Nightmare is also seen as pretty good, Freddy vs Jason is also hit or miss, and the 2010 remake isn't really liked from what I've seen.
I highly recommend checking out the doc scream queen, its all about the making of this movie. And its effect on mark patton.
yes its great
It was probably mentioned already in the comments, but Robert Englund is the bus driver at the beginning of the movie.
At 2:54 in the video 🤘
Wes Craven returned as director for Part 3 it also maybe has the best cast of the whole series, too.
Chuck Russell is the director of Part 3. Wes Craven wrote an early draft, but most of the movie was re-written by Russell and Frank Darabont.
Freddys "powers" isnt that hard to understand. Hes completely supernatural. Like poltergeist, or exorcist. Theres no real "story" to freddy movies besides the who and why. Its basically a never-ending nightmare. It doesn't need to make sense.
I believe over time this sequel has found a cult appreciation; much like Halloween 3. I think the only bad one in the original franchise is 6 but everything is bad until it’s good again.
I honestly LOVE watching this reaction 😂
This was the way people viewed it, but the story gets better. Freddy Franchise was based on Roberts strength, its one of the most interesting in Hollywood- they kept it going adding different elements (not all works)
You two are actually going to love the 3rd movie. It's the best one in the franchise. I can't wait to see your reactions.
Tara brought the energy for that intro and Roxy was just like yea I'm here.
I feel like that’s how it always is with the person doing the intro. They always seem to have way more energy.
😅❤❤ I’m always too much let’s be honest 👀👻😂
@@TaraErickson 😍😍😍😍😍
2:52 that’s actually Robert England playing the bus driver out of Freddy make up, some nice foreshadowing of Freddy taking over the bus
Yes! He shows up more out of makeup later too
I love how you can pinpoint the exact moment the movie goes off the rails and its fascinating lol
Oh so to explain it better since u guys were confused. He was using Jesse to escape into the real world. He was using Jesse as a vessel so that he can be reborn into the real world. Him teasing out of Jesse was him literally being able to exist in the real world and not the dream world. That’s why Freddy said “You have the body”. He wanted a way to continue his killing spree in the real world. They do NOT see Jesse during the killing spree they see Freddy. Remember at this point Freddy’s body has finished cooking in Jesse’s body and is able to escape into the real world. Freddy is mainly using Jesse as a vessel to remake his body, he’s not necessarily USING Jesse to kill. So all of the killing is happening in the real world now. Also the reason why Freddy was hesitant to kill Lisa is because Freddy can now feel Jesse’s emotions and old feelings as now Jesse is hidden inside of Freddy, not Freddy being hidden inside of Jesse now. The only reason why people hate on this movie is because they simply don’t understand the plot or are thinking to hard on it. It was basically just the producers tryna find a way to make Freddy more alive in the real world or be AS terrifying in reality then be limited in the dream world. And him having his dream powers and living and existing in the real world is more scary
This one was the scariest Freddy, in my opinion. Hardly any humor, and he looked the creepiest. But I know when y’all get to Dream Warriors, y’all are gonna love that one!
Yes the Scream Queens (Purge Queen & Ring the Bell Queen) are back!! Glad ur doing reacting to the sequel!! Forgot about this one. Agree third half was all over the place(poor ending). Always entertaining watching you ladies ❤❤ and yes to Purge pillow!!
Speaking of “scream queens” that should be a show they pick up on and watch !
Um, the 3rd "half"? Perhaps you meant to say the 3rd act...
Definitely.
🎉🎉🎉🎉 ❤❤❤ PURGE!!!
Since we're judging people *Roxy* lookin good in the purple tank makeup & hair just fit
I love how they missed Robert Englund behind the "Robert Englund" title
Roxy and Tara, DISREGARD EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN THIS MOVIE going forward with this franchise. It's never referenced ever again. This movie was fast tracked less than a year after the first one without Wes Craven's involvement.
3:00 It's just pronounced "England"... like the country
that U must be throwing her off.
Once Freddy enters our plane of existence... He brings his "HELL" with him. So sense Freddy was burned alive by the parents of Springwood, every time he gets closer into our world, it get hotter and hotter.
I've recently been on a Nightmare on elm street movies reaction binge and Iam Glad I found a channel that did a recent one 💯
Tara and Roxy the most sexiest duo to react to movies 🥰🎥🎬🍿
😅❤
Fun Fact: This movie is considered The Gay Nightmare on Elm Street
Best scream queens in the biz! Love you girls! Always a blast!
🎉❤🎉❤
What in the Jessica Simpson jeans?
Love the nightmare on elm Street movies great to see them in the channel with the scream queen's 😊
Sadly, you have to read between the lines with all the threads that were introduced by the screenplay.
It seemed like the lead male character (Jesse) had a tense relationship with his father... and he seemed to be drawn to other men that were like that (Coach and Grady). Freddy viewed Jesse as an easy mark because of his complicated relationships with older men and decided to kill two birds with one stone by using that to take over his body and score some kills. There were a lot of pieces that just didn't come together. at the end.
The first elm street i saw as a kid. I still remember the poster in my local newsagents/sweetshop/vhs video rental shop before the days of blockbuster video. The school bus, freddy with knives actually coming out of his fingers. I have a fondness for this movie because it takes me back to simpler times. Nostalgia eh.
There is a theory that tries to tie the loose lore of this film with the franchise. Basically, when Nancy defeats Freddy in the first film, he gets trapped in the house. He is forgotten in the six year gap and loses his power, but via Jesse’s nightmares he gains strength and has control over the house (temperature and causing things to burn). When Jesse moves in, Freddy is able to possess him and use him as a way to instill fear once again in Elm Street kids, and gets kills that give him power to return to the dream world. It’s also a reason why from here on out, Nancy’s house becomes Freddy’s house.
It’s not an all encompassing theory, because this sequel is all over the place, but it does enough to bridge the gap between the first and third films. The third one is incredible. I know y’all will love it.
My NOES ranking: #1, #3, New Nightmare, Freddy vs Jason, #4, #5, #2, #6. Part 6 is so bad, that is the one to skip. The NOES remake is meh, I don’t include it in the Robert Englund list.
WATCH EM ALL,
I was 11 when this came out, and I did NOT care that it was considered "bad". We got more Freddy and I was happy. Couldn't wait for part 3!
On a side note, I was a naive gay kid at 11, and in watching this, wondered why, as a gay man, I would dress up on leather and go to weird bars and drink with weird people. That wasn't for me, but I DID have a huge crush on Jessie. That dance was a sexual awakening at 11 years old LMAO :)
Good Reaction Roxy and Tara! 👍
❤❤🎉
We need "Roxy's & Tara's New New Nightmare" stat!
That scream, dude 😣😖 sheesh
Fun Fact: Robert Englund when he was picked to play Freddy Krueger only agreed to continue as Freddy jast as long as he got to do a tung gag to all of the lead girls in each film... And they added this into his contract. So quite literally in every NightMare on Elm movie Freddy is always going to tung out the lead girl in the movie
The next four movies are awesome
I say go ahead and watch all the movies in the franchise.
Most of them are comedic, over the top slasher/fantasy that's inconsistent with Freddy's abilities but still sort of fun to watch.
This dude is the first scream queen 😂
Why skip to New Nightmare? One bad apple shouldn't spoil the whole bunch. You're really overthinking this situation. Approach it like any other movie series; some are good, and some are bad. It's always better to go in chronological order. Refrain from jumping around due to actor/director comments. That muddies the waters.
Tara: his teeth haven’t been brushed in years
Me:… he’s been in hell I don’t think he got access to crest.
Lmfao "UNGLUND" 😂😂😂
Purge Mommas!
Dream Warriors
Dream Master
New Nightmare
and Freddy vs Jason are all a good time!
It’s a supernatural horror film guys. Try to watch it without looking for realistic explanations for everything 😂 Just get ready for the third installment! It’s def the best one 🤘🏻
The party scene set the grounds for Freddy to scare more ppl which makes him stronger.
The more people who know of him, the stronger he can be..
But CORRECT, this is the most OP Freddy has been in film reality. He also hasn't used a human body as host for a film after this again too
Great reaction Roxy and Tara! 😊
This is my least favorite in the "Nightmare" movie series, but it is decent and watchable. I do like the opening 'nightmare' sequence.
And Robert Englund once again is terrifyingly fantastic as Freddy Krueger.
I keep forgetting that Christie Clark, the actress that plays the little sister, is in this one. She grew up to become a soap opera actress on one of my favorite soaps. Actually she did this movie, and then went on to do soap operas a year later.
So excited for the next one, "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors". One of my favorites of the movie series.
Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
🥰🥰
y'all gotta stop questioning everything lol its Freddy he's like dream entity who can conjure up anything, that simple really ngl
Except for the pool scene, or the entire Freddy's body is over Jesse's in the real world: basically, the entire third act takes place outside of the dream world lol. It's not so much questioning everything as identifying that the film really fell flat about half way through. A really good ending would have been what Tara and Roxy suggested with Jesse in a mental institute, which would line up perfectly with Dream Warriors...
@@itsclaybeena the pool scene makes the most sense actually he’s literally using Jesse to be in the real one world and spread fear lmao pool scene only wouldn’t make sense if your new to the franchise which they are.
@@shania991 the issue is it’s still shoddy writing. It also doesn’t make sense when you consider the first movie. When Freddy is pulled into the real world by Nancy, he is basically a human being. Why is it that when he’s taking over a real persons body in the real world he can now use his dream powers? It just goes against what is already established of Freddy from the first movie lmao
Exactly .
56:35 nightmare in Elm Street is a tough one because every once in a while you have like a pretty decent actress or actor in it, but because of the stigma of the shock, horror film, they not necessary may have gotten a good rules later on, so it’s a hit and miss situation
