The big bags that the squires drag around is a funny reference to your in game character giving all your junk to your companion to carry so you aren't encumbered. The size just makes it amusing. 😂
Not really it is a reference to the golfcaddy in the literaly first minutes of episode one that carried the same bag. Shows that your companions are nothing else than caddys giving you your biggest stick when needed. Todd is rich he likes golfing.

I heard others say it’s also a funny reference to gamers adding too many items for their character to carry etc. Not sure if that’s true, but it is hilarious to see the massive size of the bags

Black bears are cute and easily scared. Its grizzlies and those weird looking mutant bears that aggressively go nuts, attack everything savagely in sight and look like they had a years trip with fentanyl. Ragged and weirdly looking faces. But yeah the most dangerous unpredictable big animal there is who even scare off tigers. I think Sloth Bears is their name. They attack like badgers when threatened or startled without regard for their own life

Ok but regular bears won’t be a challenge for power armor. Unlike Yao Guai, regular bears would probably run after getting a punch from a power armor.
Lucy pointing the gun at diaper dude is a reference to players not putting their guns away when talking to NPCs. An even more obscure in-game reference is that diaper dude is a reference to some NPCs you meet in the original isometric Fallout game. So, two fan services in one scene!

You may have missed that Wilzig saved CX404. She weighed under 10oz and was supposed to be incinerated but he recorded it as 10oz anyway. That might change how you feel about him?
Fun Easter egg: 404 is the webpage not found Internet error. So CX404 means canine experiment not found (because Wilzig hid her).

@@kanpai_ky Don't take this the wrong way, but you have to pay more attention to this sort of details. Because the show is very much full of it, and most of it is MUCH more subtle and almost basically background noise and not in your face as it was in this case. It's very much an intentional design decision on how to tell the story, trusting the viewer to not need some throughout hand-holding explanations.
There's also a lot of context related things that you have to kinda go back to, in order to actually understand them.

I think Dogmeat is a Belgian Malinois in this series. Pretty dogs but illegal to own in a lot of places.
Your right! I incorrectly call her a German shepherd but she is indeed a Belgian Malinois. They definitely need an experienced person to properly train and work them appropriately. Beautiful dogs 🐕 💖✨

@@kanpai_ky They did great Job on the show. They Used Clint Eastwood Old Westerns, "The Good The Bad andThe Ugly" Lucy is Good, Maximus little bit Bad and the Ghoul Is Ugly..They did similar thing with The Mandalorian.
You're really on top of the whole presentation for a brand new channel. Editing is on point, good sound (a lot of channels struggle with this), right balance between talking and "just watching."

yeah no! i have been playing fallout for nearly 2 decades and in all that time i have refused to eat rad roach. i know it's ridiculous and i know it's not real i just can't do it!😆

I've often wondered while playing Fallout games how well fat juicy radroach would taste over the BBQ with the right amount of seasoning.
The Enclave is what is left of the US government, the military and some of the most wealthy people, they were already a thing before the bombs fell. They are one of the most resourceful and technologically advanced factions in the Wasteland
I foolishly thought enclave and vault tech was the same thing.

@@krounos1 That's also not really correct but I don't really wanna get into that here because I feel this is going to be something the show dives into a bit more later on. Let's just say they have some sort of relation, to keep it simple and ambiguous for the people getting into the franchise.
LoL, it's funnier when you find out what happened to the first enclave members were killed off by their A.I
The Brotherhood of Steel is actually a remnant of part of the US Military, the Enclave is the continuation of the top officials & intelligence gathering arms of the US Government, and Vault Tek was one of the largest private companies that had their influence in a bit of everything.
Two headed cows are called Brahmin. I'm not sure if anyone's explained it to you yet, but the majority of the vaults had very messed up experiments performed on them. Some were just for people to live in. Information on the vaults was fed to the Enclave, for a while anyway. This is why he knows who Lucy is and information regarding her vault. The gun Lucy uses on the ghoul shoots syringes with various chemical cocktails in them.
The slow-motion bullet effects from the ghoul are basically v.a.t.s. mode like in the game that lets you slow down time when you're shooting. It's a big part of the gameplay, so I'm glad they included it.
Oh that’s really cool. I love when they film in a way to remind you of the video game origins.
Reminds me of the scenes in Last of Us from the very first episode when they are driving in the car and it feels like you’re in a game being the passenger in the moving vehicle.
Filly is short for "Landfill". It was built in and old landfill lmao

The tool that Lucy uses to take his head is called a ripper. It's not that great of a weapon. The donut you saw is from Shlocum Joe's. It's the major coffee and donut shop in Fallout.

It's not his head/brain they want, it's the chip he put in it.
Note: The bobbleheads in the game award you some sort of permanent in game bonus, there is just 1 of each to find.

@@kanpai_kyI didn't want to give away anything but still enjoy the series. Another thing you could do that won't give anything away is watch the opening cinematic to Fallout 4, it will add some context later.
Normally I don't like in new movies the slowed gore scenes. But in this show it makes sense, it's a reference to Vats.
Why was Hank kept in the dark about Vault 32 but when Betty takes over as Overseer she isn't phased by all the murders?
probably a "stick to the plan" mentality or assumption that the raiders did it, they likely only communicate to arrange exchanges so they didn't know everyone was dead until the raiders got in.
More reaction videos need to do beer/other drink pairing like this at the start! Love that you start with that

Great video! It's fine if you're still figuring out who is bad or good; the Fallout series has always been about morally ambiguous characters and dark humor. Lucy is kind of unique in her overly idealistic, naive approach, but you can see how other characters are skeptical about that.
Oh agreed! Will the landscape change her and how so? She plays the part really well.

Glad you enjoyed it! So all the music I use or license will be credited in the description. I licensed "Background Jazz" | Volodymyr Piddubnyk for that sequence. For episodes 1 and 2 there was music I licensed to to cover up the shows copyrighted music. I had a hard time uploading 1 and 2 to YT due to the contend ID system (copyright), so I went with this route. But for episode 3, after listening to a lot of feedback I used just bits of the original music and didn't cover up the original sounds. Thanks and cheers!

Not sure if this is your first exposure to Fallout or if you have any game experience. You seem a new visitor to this world. But the Ghoul shooting people in Filly in slow-motion is reminiscent of a tool you get to use in games, called V.A.T.S. Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System I think is the full name. It lets you set up your shots rather than aim yourself and they play back in slow motion, a lot like The Ghoul's Filly fight sequence. Although he probably can't be using VATS as I am pretty sure it is a Pip Boy function. In his case, by the time he's survived in the Wasteland for 220 years, he must just be a much higher level than everyone around him.
Stimpacks are also a nod to the games. Stimpacks heal crazy well instantly, to the point of even achieving some limb regeneration. Hence the badly injured dog was mostly healed after being given a Stimpack, the same thing Knight Titus was begging Maximus for.
The Filly shopkeeper was in a show called My Name Is Earl. I had to watch the preview a dozen times to figure out where I knew her from when I saw it. Drove me nuts!

Not sure if Wilsig is a bad guy, or just a bit mysterious and creepy. (The actor is great at playing such roles, IMHO) But I thought he was certainly interesting. Sadly they killed him after just one episode.

Couldn’t agree more! 💜 The brewery I got it from is owned by Filipino Americans and was recently awarded best new brewery of the year in San Diego. They’ve also done a buko pandan beer and rice lager that were great 🙂🍻

So, even if not, I'm claiming it.. :) On this video, if you are going to use looping non show audio / music, may need to turn it down a little.. During the CX404 / injection scene that got kinda annoying (just .my opinion) Other than that, loving your reactions.

As a Belgian I have to say... who puts that in a beer ? Sacrilege, I say, sacrilege. 😁 You should really drink a Belgian beer while watching the show seeing as the dog is a Belgian Malinois, our National dog breed. 🐶🐕🦺

@@kanpai_ky We are very proud of our beer culture here in Belgium. It is on the UNESCO World Heritage List for a reason. For a country of 10 million people we have over 1.600 different commerically brewed beers. So a different beer per 6.250 people, all with their own unique glasses.
Seeing as you seem to like a good beer, if you ever visit Europe I would suggest you come visit my hometown of Bruges where due to the narrow medieval streets our brewery De Halve Maan couldn't be reached by trucks. So instead of moving the brewery outside of the city center, we crowdfuned to have a one of a kind 3 km beer pipeline built under the city to move the beer from the brewery to the bottling plant in the suburbs.
They make Straffe Hendrick, which I can highly recommend if you ever run in to it in a store near you. They come in variants from 9 to 11% alcohol, so be careful not to drink too many. 🍻

So, to recap... He saves the puppy, secretly cares and protects her for years, warns Lucy on multiple occasions that she's not safe out there, even goes as far as to eff himself so she can carry whatever he has in his head easier, and your conclusion is that he's an evil Nazi scientist?
I totally missed the weight was lower than 10 on my initial view! 😮
And I still think the whole operation is meant to elicit evil scientists at work, no? His costume and appearance definitely gives that vibe. He might even be meant to look like Heinrich Himmler to have the viewer feel that way. I get now that Wilzig specifically might not be a bad guy after all … in fact watching more and more episodes makes one question who and what is “good” and who and what is “bad” and what are each character’s motivations along the way etc etc.
I didn’t see him protecting Lucy as benign and selfless as my initial reaction. Vibes aren’t always correct, right? LOL
My initial thoughts of his actions and implant were sus, but my perspective has changed along the way 🙂

I mean yes and no … it’s not an alternative reality like how Marvel movies go about it, like the idea of a multiverse. It’s an idea of what the world would like in the future had events gone differently in the past. So not predictive of our current future … in that way I could see it as an alternative future
