The enclave were the reminates of the US government and on the west coast they were pretty much wiped out in fallout 2(with only scattered reminates left) and on the east coast they were wiped out in fallout 3. I honestly still don't know how they showed up in this show as a major faction. However one of the writers for Vegas has said Todd Howard has a thing for the enclave (and the brotherhood) and implied they had to fight to keep them from being a major faction in New Vegas.(New Vegas takes place after 2 and 3 and about 15 years before this show). As someone who has played the games i honestly think Bethesda is using this show to bring down the level of civilization on the west coast to make it closer to the east coast that is stuck in an eternal post apocalypse. Before this show the west coast(which had been written by companies besides Bethesda) had actual nations, massive merchant companies, ranchers, some industry, and even working trains. It's level of civilization could be compared to the late 18 or very early 1900s. Somehow all of that appears to have vanished in the 15 years between Vegas and this show.

The Enclave were big villains in the Fallout games other than Fallout 4. The quick summary is that they're the descendants/remnants of the US government and they have their own plans which are usually terrible for everyone else.

It's great to watch a reactor who is also a player of the games - there is so much love and dedication in this series and you're obviously picking up on so many of the little parts. To your question, they didn't really play a big oart in 4 the way the did other games, but the Enclave was a secret branch of the US Government. When the radio, during the birthday scene, said that the President's whereabouts were unknown - we know from the lore that he was hiding in a bunker with his buddies at the Enclave. Anything else you need to know you will get in epsiode 2.
I'm so glad you are back to doing reaction videos. This series is so good and I will enjoy watching your reactions and commentary. Don't stress of only having Fallout 4 knowledge, you will still enjoy the first season regardless.
About fallout shelters, there's a really great documentary called "The Atomic Café" that's available on RUclips and consists entirely of old archive footage from the 50s and 60s, when the culture of nuclear war preparedness was its peak. In one bit, they point out how the fallout shelters that were popular in the U.S. back then would be pretty useless against a nuclear blast; they wouldn't have been strong enough to protect from the resulting firestorm, and similar shelters that were around in Japan and Germany during WWII and hit with weaker bombs were known to fail and kill the residents through suffocation and incineration
Interestingly enough this series takes place in California, which is where Fallout 1 and 2 took place. The Enclave featured most prominently in Fallout 2 and 3. They were essentially the rich elite of the government that had their own Vault to hide in. The President of the United States and the descendants of soldiers, scientists, and senators became the Enclave. They're also responsible for creating the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV) which created several of the Super Mutants and other mutated creatures like Centuars. They also had a hand in creating some of the Deathclaws and experimented on them. Some of them were even intelligent enough to speak, like Gorris in Fallout 2. They even experimented on their own men, creating a Super Mutant/ human hybrid in Enclave Power Armor, named Frank Horrigan, also in Fallout 2. Nowadays they're a remnant of what they once were, suffering crippling blows in Fallout 2 and 3. While some remain, they're no longer as much of a threat.
Welcome Back Cyn! Great to see all your successes'. Fallout pulled me in with Fallout 3. What attracted me was the "Realism", with real people and the possibility of nuclear annihilation outcome. The 50's timeline shift is fricking hilarious. I am here for it! Great Reaction!
39:55 Non-spoiler Enclave information: The Enclave is the name of what basically amounts to a lineage of former politicians, many specifically important scientists and high-level paramilitary personnel, and some associated corporate figures. Think of "The Enclave" in the same way you think of "the deep state" - as movers and shakers behind the curtain. So through the games you'll often hear of them referenced in the same way you heard here in the show, like some mythological pseudo-government group doing things that nobody around actually has any verification for, lol. Depending on which game, there's more or there's less meat on the bone about it.
I guess they just call it The Wilds, like in the other games they have The Capitol Wastes, The Mojave Wasteland etc. Just anywhere that isn't an established Brotherhood outpost. The Enclave is a faction in the earlier games and do have impacts on the story so in the vaguest terms, they are what remained of the pre-war US government.
Some Vaults opened very soon after the Great War. Except for some heavily bombed zones, the levels of radiation didn't stay super high for as long as they thought.
The Wand Company made the Pip-Boys from the show for you to actually buy with working screens and everything. They're on the Bethesda Store and some other places.
So, I watched this video about growing food post explosion. Radiation doesn't really penetrate the ground much, so supposedly all you have to really do in order to do it safely is remove several inches of topsoil and plant in that. The problem is that other radioactive dust travels, so it will blow right into your safe space. You need an enclosure, a fence at least. The better you can build this enclosure the better. I wouldn't even know what to recommend about a roof or ventilation. Anyway if vaults ever become a real thing I hope they build their own internet. I need content.
Cool to see you on here. Watched your Uncharted playthroughs. I've played Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas. And 4 is my favorite overall. So don't worry about which one you have played and which one you like. Also New Vegas is very hit or miss, but the people who love it are obsessed with it, and are very LOUD about it hahaha
This show, to me, was actually better than the game. I had to stop playing because I had so many side missions, it was ridiculous. That weapon was called a "Junk Jet" so you were close.
Great reaction to this show. As a Fallout fan myself, I am so glad that it appears that they have knocked it out of the park. Every tiny detail seems to have been a thing. From Nuka Cola to the stim packs to outfits and weapons, it makes ya want to play a Fallout game again. I really liked your reaction to this, it reminded me of watching for the first time myself.
I can't get over the fact that every time actress was on the screen I kept thinking how much she looked like young Shannen Doherty (from original Charmed). Damn I'm old.. :(
“Pulling all the punches” means going all the way, not holding anything back. So, in this instance, you’re actually glad that they ARE pulling all the punches, rather than saying “I’m happy that they’re not pulling punches.” 😊
"How do you maintain a healthy gene pool in the vaults. Vault Tek had to think about that." The surely did, as did the actual creators of the Fallout universe, which is why in the original games the vaults were supposed to house like 1000 people. Unfortunately, Bethesda didn't think it through very well when they took over the franchise, which is why they changed the vaults to be much smaller and have less people in them.
15:32 "Let's see that combat training." I really like this fight scene because it establishes (1) Lucy isn't physically Monty's equal, and (2) Monty's school of hard knocks is the equal of Lucy's practice bouts.
I know most people seem to dig New Vegas as the uber-Fallout, but I wasn't that sold. Sold, yes, but not as much as everyone else. To me, it felt too "populated". The empty feeling of Fallout 3 was gone, that sense of everything having been destroyed, right down to the skeletons in the toilets. Nothing seemed quite as derelict, and there were humans everywhere that were not immediately trying to kill me. I even questioned the choice of locale. Why did we go back to a place we'd already been in the series (the southwest). They could have gone with Northeast (as they did in 4), or like Florida, Texas, maybe? Louisiana/New Orleans? Get out of town, that would have been cool (or even the Gulf states in general, but New Orleans would have smoked). Whoa, this just occurred to me: what about a total left turn and do something in Canada? Instead, they played softball and went with something familiar rather than take a risk. But I digress. Fallout 3 was fantastic, partly because it was fresh and new for the series, but also because it was bleak as shit. The comedy mixed with the existential horror really did it for me. New Vegas was good, but lacked that feeling. At times, it even felt like a typical RPG wearing a Fallout skin. Eh, I've ranted long enough and probably made a host of enemies, so toodles!
I've seen different estimates about how long you'd have to stay in a bomb shelter after a full-scale nuclear war. Some of it has to do with different levels of radioactive fallout you get with airburst (which is typically how modern nuclear weapons are set to detonate) vs. ground-level detonation (which is what was shown here, and which kicks up more dust and debris to become irradiated), but the answers I've seen appear to range from only a few days to a few years before the worst of it has dissipated. No matter what, waiting CENTURIES is overkill, although it does protect you from the breakdown of government control and civilization. On the other hand, it gives you plenty of time to run insane and immoral experiments on your captive population, which was Vault-Tec's primary goal. One of the more successful Vaults at fulfilling the supposed job of preserving humanity and repopulating post-war America was Vault 8, which opened after 14 years to found Vault City. So vaults like 101 or 33 staying closed seemingly in perpetuity are really just doing so to carry out their experimental requirements. From what I understand, anyway.
Lucy in a wedding dress with a tranq-gun has the same energy as Buffy (the Vampire Slayer) in her prom dress with a crossbow. Which is to say, great. It's great. More TV should be like this.
humor-wise, I think the show relies a little bit too much on a transgressive, juvenile, over-sexed, shock-value randiness. In universe, though, a vault is just a fancy goon cave. So now we're all on the same level as the show.
As a longtime nerd and lore aficionado, while I'll admit that this series generally captures the tone of the franchise decently, and has a stellar score, I am not a fan of the _many_ retcons this series introduced.
Heya! Lovely to see you recognize so many easter eggs from the games! Also, I thought your voice sounded like Christine Slagman, the voice of Sofia - The Funny Fully Voiced Follower mod in Skyrim, I had to look it up cause it's almost the same voice.
I was real later to the fallout game. Started playing when 76 came out and its the only one ive played. I liked it. Havent played it since i got my ps5 2.5 yrs ago. Going to redownload on my ps5 once i get more storage
34:29 you got : The good, the bad and the ugly.... and the series is told just the same style as that old western classic... and(to me at least) this series feels like a love letter to the games
The Enclave are the remnants of the US Government, formed just before the bombs fell. I would highly suggest playing 1 and 2 (get them from GoG), then 3 and new vegas last, for the full story.
Biggest difference between F3 and NV is that in F3, you encounter side stories in your travels, and they’re mostly self-contained. In NV, almost every side story ties into the main story in some way- big or small. Especially your companions- they each have their entire own storyline with multiple endings. NV sells the idea that your actions have consequences better than F3 or F4 do, because those games are more “were you naughty or nice?”, whereas NV is more “Your decision sucked for these people, but helped these other people”. That said, F3’s wasteland is a much more compelling environment, it oozes a vibe that NV doesn’t quite get. F4 is kind of its own animal. A great game, but quite streamlined compared to the other two.
I cannot recommend strongly enough that when you try Fallout 3 and New Vegas, you do it via the Tale of Two Wastelands mod which basically imports F3 into NV, and makes them one game. It improves both games, by giving Fallout 3 the deeper gameplay mechanics of NV, and by making you more invested in your New Vegas character because instead of being some random Courier, they’re your Fallout 3 character, whom you should be very invested in by the time you take the train to the Mojave. You can travel back and forth between the two games at any point, running missions concurrently, but I recommend finishing F3’s main story and some of the bigger side quests before going to New Vegas. Oh, and your companions can travel with you, and even have homes in either wasteland. Setting up the mod can be tricky but there’s a guide that, if you follow every single step, will walk you through it.
Supposedly, for a lot of the props in the show, Bethesda gave the prop department and visual effects team the actual models in the games to use as templates. Some of them were even 3d printed largely as is (just format conversion). That's why they look so authentic.
I think one of the biggest reasons people get so hyped about FNV is because they're comparing it to FO3, which was, frankly, kind of crap. FO3, and even moreso FO4 suffer from all the typical Bethesda garbage. Bloated maps full of pointless fetch quests, tons of NPC's that have little to no interaction, and absolute shittons of errors and glitches. New Vegas IS a good game, but it absolutely pales in comparison to FO1 & FO2. Those are literally two of the best CRPG's ever made. Plus, New Vegas was made by Obsidian Entertainment, and a large majority of that studio, at least at the time FNV was developed, was made up of folks who worked on the original two Fallouts, so they knew the world and lore inside and out. You can see the love of the source every time you play it, unlike FO3 & FO4 (given that Todd Howard has said that he's not a fan of the original Fallout lore, that's not a complete surprise).
The Enclave were the main villains of fallout 2 and 3, in the first they wanted to wipe the wasteland clean of all mutants and all non enclave personell, in 3 they want to destroy all mutants and keep humanity alive.

This just made my week! Thank you thank you!!! So excited to watch these. When I was watching the show I literally thought to myself man it would be awesome if Cyn had reacted to this. I loved this show from start to finish and cannot wait to see your thoughts, commentary and feelings on it!!
Also I know you are a big Westworld fan like I am so I am glad that Nolan and his wife and their production studio were heavily involved in making this. You can definitely see some elements of their work in this show! I will make sure to like and comment on each to boost the algorithm!
That being said, the Russian underground train system was actually built to withstand a nuclear blast. It's also the premise of the Metro series.
@@noxteryn Yes, and the Russian metro was used as bomb shelters during the WW2.
Glad to see you react to this awesome show.
Looking forward to to what comes next.
Good to see you again!
I grew up in the USSR in the 80s, and we had info-boards and lessons about what to do in case of a nuclear attack.
i hope you continue to do more reactions. you think like i think and say things right before i say it lol. you got a new subscriber none the less
The term "cousin stuff" gets me every time lol
There's the "Sweet Home Alabama" meme about this.
"it was an ugly drape anyway." 🤣🤣🤣
The girl that plays Lucy is also Jinx's voice actress in Arcane.
Found your channel reactions to the last of us only a week ago and really enjoyed your take and commentary , looking forward to this series too .
Ayyye Let's go ! , the reaction channel has been revived 😂🤘🔥🔥
Some Vaults opened very soon after the Great War. Except for some heavily bombed zones, the levels of radiation didn't stay super high for as long as they thought.
letsgooooo ! my favorite gamer doing reacts again !
Great reaction, Cyn! 🙌
FALLOUT 3, your character escapes the Vault in search of his/her father.
Yes, lots of similarities.
"Cousin Stuff" LOL
😮My second memory is air raid sirens and drills...
It’s watchable but I treat it as not cannon
I noticed a lot of eye shots
You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. I'm smitten, stunned. I can hardly believe such beauty exists.
20:00 this wouldnt be a choice for me either, you are my world
This show, to me, was actually better than the game. I had to stop playing because I had so many side missions, it was ridiculous. That weapon was called a "Junk Jet" so you were close.
One of my favorite things to look out for on these reactions is the pickles.
The black guy dude on the birthday party in the beginning says "Pinko" - a slang work for a communist. That's where tension is from I guess
Great reaction. Yours is the first time someone knew WTAF a Junk Jet was.
Don't play New Vegas with Windows 11. Windows 10 and some basic bug fixing mods.
Cyn has Perception maxed out
I love Lucy!❤
I knew nothing about this but it became one of my favorites
Oh wow I had no idea Cyn had a react channel 😲
Not the pickles!!😲
I can't get over the fact that every time actress was on the screen I kept thinking how much she looked like young Shannen Doherty (from original Charmed).
Damn I'm old.. :(
"i know the hancock girlies are coming out of retirement for this one" lmao u bet ur ass i am 🔥🔥🔥
.........Another Settlement Needs Your Help!
Hey! Another FO4 fan! HUZZAH!
Not the unmutated chicken :P
Don't forget to play Fallout 2.
15:32 "Let's see that combat training."
I really like this fight scene because it establishes (1) Lucy isn't physically Monty's equal, and (2) Monty's school of hard knocks is the equal of Lucy's practice bouts.
Fallout 4 recently had an update that includes bug fixes, better graphics, and new content from this show, if you ever feel like doing another run.
Stock your private vault with some tadiation suits pre-war.
I know, everyone commented it a thousand times: but did you know that the actress who playes Lucy is the VA for Jinx in Arcane? 😅
Fallout 4 is the best vaultie protagonist. Fallout New Vegas is the best non vaultie protagonist.
Walton Goggins acts rings around Ryan 'one character' Reynolds. No contest
Fallout 4 fan is doing some seriously heavy lifting. So far almost zero game references accurately noted. Doesn't know what a stimpack or jet was.
She's no Mary Sue and she has an actual character arc and she's actually likeable. We sure this is Amazon?
Dropping the Los Santos haha nicely done
Junk Jet
I just found you please come back on here
Supposedly, for a lot of the props in the show, Bethesda gave the prop department and visual effects team the actual models in the games to use as templates. Some of them were even 3d printed largely as is (just format conversion). That's why they look so authentic.
Fnv is surely not my Bible, maybe Fallout 3 was
Do you continue the reaction ?
New Vegas isn't as much of a masterpiece as people make it out to be. That being said, it's still a great game.
