Fun fact. When they did this masterpiece of a song they were 21/22y olds. Kids barely out of their teens.
It's ironic you say it felt like lightning all through your body because this song is off of their 1984 album Ride the Lightning
Wow thank you so much for informing me of the title! Now I know the feel I had was the feeling they had for the album🎸🔥
She's that was a ride and he said he felt electrocuted lol! Ride it!
@@kenrichards4838 engrish
They were riding the lightning on that one. This is a deep song. Definitely one of my favorites. For Whom The Bell Tolls is a great track off that album too. ❤️
That might be one of the greatest written songs of all time.
🤘🏻😎
Metallica has a lot...A LOT of freaking awesome lyrics...A LOT
Your goddamn right 🤘
Verily.
Fact
Wrote lyrics to this song in a notebook in high-school. Forgot in classroom and next day had to talk to the counselor because they thought I wrote it as a poem and was suicidal. But in their defense my father had just passed away a month or so before I wrote it down.
Omg. I can totally totally see that happening LOL
Brutal! God bless
Sorry for your loss brother,.
Sorry for the loss of your father. :(
Sorry for your loss my friend. I hope you are doing alright
This song has saved countless lives I’m sure of it.
Or taken.
Just balancing the universe. Sorry.
@@ThrillhoWiggum No. Anybody that has ever fought depression and suicide doesn't feel alone when they listen to this song, or songs like it. It's incredible the difference it makes being able to relate to somebody on a subject that most people won't talk about. Music doesn't make people kill themselves. Period. If you think otherwise, you don't know, and I pity you.
@@OddBallPerformance I have heard songs about suicide countless times and have suicidal depression; they do not make me feel like I'm not alone.
When I was riding with a friend, he just got a new system in his car. He wasn't into this kind of music but I told him just give it a chance. I played this song. Halfway into it, he had the volume cranked up to 80 & I could see he was holding back tears. When it was over he kept rubbing his eyes & I had goosebumps on my arms still. I got to hear most of the song at over 1,200 watts full range lol. He got hyped af to hear more, I let him have the album.
You're lucky! I would love to hear it that loudly! Nobody around me would allow that to happen. 😔 but that is profound that their music moved him like that. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
The one thing that blows my mind about Metallica is how young they were when they wrote and recorded this song. They are geniuses
Since you the S&M squad, it is almost necessary for you to react to something from Metallica's S&M concerts *Symphony and Metallica* It makes their music even more epic when played with a full orchestra. The Outlaw Torn, No Leaf Clover, Hero of the Day - hell any of them.
Yeah I was looking for this comment!
My favorite songs , or most improved songs IMO, from this album are Of Wolf and Man and Fuel.
Same for Evanescence.
Such a beautiful song with such sad lyrics. Classical music with distorted guitars is how my grandma described it when I was s kid, when this came out. Haha. she was pretty close to right. Of course then she said turn it down, she was cool but still old. Miss you grandma.
Their musicianship is top notch. Song writing hits you hard and makes you think. 🤘🎸✌
When she said she felt all the pain in that performance, I thought "she gets it". She understands metallica
Yall want to see the impact Metallica has on the world? React to creeping death live in Moscow and witness what 1.6 million Russian people think of them
Yes Metallica creeping death live in Moscow is amazing, they gotta check it out. I’ve seen Metallica twice and the shows were monstrous but nothing like live in Moscow. 😎🤘🤘
Best live performance they ever filmed!
@@Frostrazor gotta disagree. Yes, the size of the crowd is overwhelming and breathtaking, but Seattle 89 is Metallica’s best performance IMO
not all were there for metallica lol
Some may think this is a song about giving up but it's quite the contrary.
This is a song about no matter how tough life is.
It's about you... you being the only one to find inner strength to never...
NEVER GIVE UP & TO KEEP FIGHTING FOR LIFE IN THIS 🌎!
She's starting to headbang I love it! you go girl. You can't help but do it on this song
Thanks for putting your heart out there to hurting people. Nice words, and some people watching this video definitely needed to hear it. ❤
You guys are awesome! So much fun watching your expressions as you listen to the songs that i love! Keep up the good work--I love it!
This song was an anthem for a lot of teenagers during the 80s , when discussing mental health and depression was shunned. This song saved my life years ago as a teenager when I was considering suicide. It gave me an outlet for my emotions.
Beautiful reaction, beautiful words at the end. Welcome to the Metallifam! Can't wait to see you react to more from them!
I was me and know hes gone. It gets me everytime. This song saved my life.
You are 100% correct, that band is freaking awesome!!! Great video as usual guys!

Sad But True!!!!
That was one friggin' epic, amazing, mind blowing masterpiece! :-)
Been a Metallica fan sense I first herd them back in 1986 when I was 7 years old. This is still my favorite song. It's helped me get through some really hard times.
Metallica really has a knack for composing powerful songs. You don't just listen to their music, you FEEL it.
Kirk’s best solo at the end of this song, in my top 2 of Metallica songs.
Absolutely
Holy shit...gets better as i listen to it....love reaction videos.
Yea think bout this ..Hatfield wrote this when he was very young....phenomenal...thank you two for your reactions brightens my day in these very rough times...after work I look forward to your reactions...cheers from kansas city...
Love how he says "bring it home" exactly when they start to bring it home.
Great reaction you guys are killing it👍🔥🔥 Another rabbit hole Shinedown.smith & myers🙏
Looks like you guys were enjoying that one! I enjoyed it as well, along with most of what Metallica produces. 👍🥳
That clapping sound at 4:00 scared the shit out of me😂😂 awesome reaction y'all, that solo still gives me chills to this day.
I read this comment beforehand and still jumped hard as fuck, god damn
u guys never fail , love always
Hellz yeah 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻 great reaction
This was my favorite song when my mom and dad. Weren't fighting over me. Just child support so this song was what I went to
Stay strong girl, never ever give up.
One of my favorite Metallica songs! Keep up the journey, you won't regret it!
My good friend was killed by a lightning strike. 16 years old incredible guitarist This was his favorite band. WPLR played this for us on the way to the cemetery our favorite song song.
I get goosebumps every time I hear that outtro solo
You have Now graduated to my favorite Metallica song....Orion....its simplistic intricacies ......The greatness of Burton....the sheer brilliance of the song. Please consider from this cool cat in Dallas. Love your passion. Welcome to the metal community....All are welcome with open arms.
It’s a masterpiece...
This song saves people. Mel is spot on :)
I’ve listened to many bands but Metallica is hands down my favorite band.
I love y'alls energy!
James the singer wrote this song after their equipment was stolen when they were around 20. What hurt him the most was the marshal amp that his mother got him before she passed away and that’s what put him into a deep depression
Amazing reaction to an amazing song, from one of the most amazing bands thats ever been. Im glad that you guys understood the meaning and the depth of the song. This song is what really got me into Metallica, cause it came out when I was in tenth grade and I was into shit like Motley Crue and Ratt and stuff. My buddy in my book keeping class loaned me his copy of the "Ride the Lightning" album, and at first i didnt really like it, until this song came on, and I was just mesmerized by the musical and lyrics, that I went out and bought the cassette myself the next day. Thats where my journey began with them, and Im a huge fan still today. Ive been fortunate enough to have seen them live several times, and there's nothing like a Metallica concert...
The song was written after their gear was stolen from a truck in 1983 while on tour, including a Marshall amp James got from his Mom before she died, one of their finest songs !
179th Like👍I'm here checkin in showing my love & support like I always do and I will be watching until the end family😁
This song was made in 1984 and is relevant to this day!! I love the way you guys love Metallica gotta go to a show that’s where you will be over the top!!
My favorite Metallica song by far. Second favorite song ever. Love the cover of it by those high school kids in the video on YT somewhere.
10:10 You'll find that the deeper you dig into Metallica the more they become your favorite band. I'm not just talking about their song library - I'm talking about their history, their dynamics, their attitude, their perseverance, etc. They ARE the best band. Period.
And the nicest. I have met every living member. I was the chunky rocker girl and had plenty of "rock stars" be complete @ssholes to me (I'll spare naming them). James has a fantastic sense of humor, as did Jason. Lars however, there aren't enough words to describe how kind he was. He went out of his way to make a beautiful memory for me. I will be a fan for life❤
Glad you enjoyed the song... you hit the nail on the head... song is about depression/suicide... controversial... this song saved many people ( including my cousin )... my cousin was depressed and couldn't understand what he was feeling, after he heard the song, he realized he was depressed and was able to move on 😎🙌✌
Girl you made love to that song AWESOME ❤️💯🇺🇸
Not saying you won’t feel the same way after hearing more, but there are some serious contenders you need to check out or check out more of!

Metallica is one reason I subbed. The second reason is your energy. I wish you peace and love.
That's a deep song very deep
80's Metallica is the best. Try Garage Days
I was listening to this song when i got a call that my brother died .now my favorite song that celebrates life and memories because they can fade if you don't
This song saved my life.. just because I knew someone felt like me.. in 1986..
Greatest band ever!!
This song expresses exactly how I feel!!
My second favorite song by metallica.
You need to watch a live version of this. Epic 🔥
(Welcome Home) Sanatarium, Creeping Death.
James is probably the best songwriter in rock music
Please review Alice in Chains "Nutshell" the MTV unplugged version. It was one of the last performances before the singer Lane Staley committed suicide and is considered one of the best performance by them ever. You will not regret it
It was an accidental overdose.
Masters of transition, some of the best musicians ever to do it!!!!!! Lars mastered the double bass method on them drums, Kirk Hammett is an incredible lead guitarist....the content of their music is dark and twisty but so many can relate, as depression and anxiety is at an all time high!!!! LOVE Metallica and love u S & M!!! ❤️ 🎸
One of my favorite albums all time. Ride the Lighting and Master of puppets.
Recording them right before Cliff Burton died in bus accident.
This is my favorite song of all time
My kids have been told for decades to play this song at my funeral.
Welcome to the battery family ❤️
Welcome to the Metallica family.......Cheerz from Oz.
I like you guys. Hi from Poland.
love to see younger generation enjoying my generations music
That's powerful stuff
Finally discovered the best band in the land ! Metallica are real musicians and can play anything with anyone !! Music for the ages!!
this song is even more enjoyable with you guys
Metallica is one of the greatest Metal bands in the world. Most people will agree. Great reaction guys.
Oooo someone had you listen to Fade to Black...good choice. 😁
My Top 5 Metallica songs to play on drums, Fade To Black, Master Of Puppets, Through The Never (which has zero reactions on YT), Welcome Home (Sanitarium), and Fight Fire With Fire, even though that last one always left me me sucking air and my legs feeling like they're about to detach from my torso.
Ad Infinitum - I Am The Storm.
Man, Metallica until their Black Album are untouchable, unbeatable!!! This song is a masterpiece, probably their greatest ballad ever!
Was all mostly Cliff I think!!!!

Yes,the epic Fade to Black
A great song written for a band member
I would LOVE to see a reaction to the song CREEPING DEATH off of this same album by Metallica. One of my all time favorite songs of theirs, It is about The Passover
Yeahhhhh!!!!Now you know it s good..........
They wrote this when they were 20-21 years old. Theyre way ahead of their time.
Metallica at their best. Just an amazing track!
Disposable Heroes or Wherever I May Roam are both 🔥🔥. Metallica Rabbit Hole I love it!
3 - 16 - 21 To think these guys were in their early 20's when they wrote the best three heavy metal albums of all time.....
Good stuff...watching yas...did you do 'whiskey in jar'?
Yes Metallica is hands down the best band from my childhood. There are many great bands but Metallica is the king for me.
You guys gotta watch both of the live Metallica S&M (Symphony and Metallica) concert films. The most recent one, S&M2 is incredible!
Best in song solos of all time,CLASSIC!
It is amazing how a song about suicide can be so beautiful.
Its about a stolen guitar
@@robertdoss8165 actually it's a guitar amp but it was the last thing james' mother left for him, she helped him buy it. Plus that the whole bands equipment was mostly gone, their future was uncertain and they were in s shitty situation but anthrax lent equipment to them till they recovered theirs. Who knows maybe this could have ended their career. Thanks anthrax \m/
@@robertdoss8165 Actually, it's about suicidal thoughts as a result of stolen equipment.
