    Even though this video is old some things never change much, like how to work on brakes of a Porsche. My P-car mechanic Dan has a small shop and it is just him, his lift, tools and excellent know how to do anything on cars. And for me I get a bonus because I get to come to his shop and watch him most anytime. But sadly I had to work and I missed out on how the emergency brakes are replaced. I know they don't work like regular American cars where the emergency brakes are somehow connected to the car brakes. Your video took all of the mystery out of this job. Clear and concise without a lot of jibber jabber as you worked on the projects. For me, ideally music never comes is present when Mr. Canary is fixing and describing what is happening. So many young You Tubers who have channels think loud raucous music is needed to AMPLIFY the moment. THIS IS NOT A ROCK CONCERT, it is a tutorial on science, magic and car fixin'.

    I love automobiles. lol.....so obvious!
    I have sat and watched you videos for hours.....some I've had to rewatch as my eyes decided to rest on their own sir. Sorry....It's not that you're boring! HAHA! Not one bit!
    I'm recovering from my 3rd spine surgery. I've had 2 fusions....on on Dec 19, 2018 and the other on Sept 3, 2019. My last one has had a few complications. 2 of my 6 pedicle screws have decided to break loose and back out causing a LOT of pain.
    I just wanted to let you know, you gave me something very interesting and different to watch. I also love you integrating you daughter in to these. I'm sure she's all grown up now since these are a little over 2 years old now!
    Again, thank you!

    Kav, who did the plating on the Brembo calipers? I heard the yellow zinc wont stick to aluminum? What process did you use to plate them? Did you use your stock booster? Did you have to mod anything else like the brake lines? Thanks!

    Rebuilding mine now, I am missing one piston rest are stainless steel. I am thinking just swapping them all out with aluminum or is it worth keeping stainless steel ones?

  • @nodatanodata9991
    @nodatanodata9991 4 года назад

    Easiest way to release brake pistons is to use hand grease pump with cheapest grease you can ever find. Caliper and pump hose thread is the same usually.

    When I upgraded my 912 brakes to vented I made the spacers in the callipers, rears were easier, for the fronts I worked out what seal was required bought the right end mill and pilot drill made sure the depth of the hole allowed the correct crush on the seal.

    When the calipers were zinc plated did you also plate the bores of the calpiers? If so there wasnt a problem with the plating thickness effecting the piston seal?
    Fantastic work. I love it when a very complex machine is broken down to its individual components and those components are restored to new. Must be a thrill putting all the brand new stuff back together

    • @willemhoitink
      @willemhoitink 5 лет назад

      Never ever zinc plate the Inside. Use silicone to coat the bore. After plating remove the silicone. And clean the bore out. If the plating comes loos it will defintly leak brake fluid. Greets from the netherland

      @charleswhitfield8915 Год назад

      willemhoitink so do you literally fill the bores with silicon caulking prior to sending it to be plated? I’m facing this problem now and would love to see the method

    Liberal amount of anti-seize on the brake pad...Don't! Not a single brake pad manufacturer recommends this, very dangerous practice being passed on from the old days.
