Right??? I absolutely love this scale for displays in my office or my man cave of a room. These are the adult sets we need. I’m not a fan of dropping $600+ on a UCS set that’ll take up a coffee tables worth of precious space. Preordered mine on announcement day
@@High_Key That's the same reason I started collecting Star Wars Armada miniatures. All beautiful, have stands, and small. Could have a whole battle scene going on.
I really hope LEGO continues with the midi-scale lineup. I agree think it would've been a great gesture to include a minifigure in the set, it would've been a cherry on top have both the ship and a minifigure to collect, and imo would appeal more not only to fans but someone collecting Lego casually or buying a gift for someone. I literally can’t wait to pick up this set day 1! I think this midi-scale Star Wars set achieves something better than most of the other LEGO Star Wars midi-scale sets, such as the Millennium Falcon… and that’s giving off a UCS Style vibe for just a fraction of the price that a traditional UCS set would cost. I think just the insane detail, accompanied by the fancy plaque really drive this vibe home. Fantastic review David, really appreciated seeing this set compared with all of the other micro-scale LEGO Star Wars sets!
Midi-scale makes SO much sense if they're going to do a lot of capital ships that are just not feasible in the larger scales. I just want them to do as many different capital ships as they can as desk props!
I love this set and the UCS one. Only thing is, i find it a bit annoying that they only did the “bevel” on the top part of the ship, and left the bottom flat. I think the models would look tons better with both top and bottom beveled. Great video man❤
This set is pretty cool, I hope they make more because I don’t have the money or the space for a UCS set. On the other studded spot on the base you should put a Darth Vader fig! I might pick this up if it is ever on sale.
This thing is a beauty! As someone with endless love for ESB I really appreciate having an affordable and easy to display Executor set. I know it’s a ROTJ set but Executor is so central to Empire, that it almost feels like a character there, with it’s imposing size and it perfectly represents Darth Vader and the whole Empire as someone who can’t (yet) be defeated. Amazing set for such a classic ship.
Hi David, AFOL here watching from Malaysia and enjoying your "brick-deos". I'm really hoping that Lego would make a mid scale set of the Mon Calamari Home One rebel alliance star cruiser as an "enemy-companion" to this superb Executor. So excited to see how Lego would replicate the smooth surfaces and rounded shapes of Home One, and also include minifigures of Admiral Ackbar and Mon Mothma! Another ship I'm looking forward to is Padme's shiny silver 4-engined cruiser from the opening of Attack of the Clones. That would be such a beauty made from shiny silver Lego pieces! I'm so enjoying your channel and look forward to many more episodes! Cheers and take care!
I love the dagger shape of the Executor and am absolutely getting a gorgeous midi-scale set of it. I do wish they made the underside of the set like the top as opposed to maintaining the anti-studs, but realistically the set is mainly for displaying the top.
First off, it looks better here than in the announcement photos. Secondly, as much as I appreciate this review, does anyone else get mildly frustrated that there’s so many reviewers of lego that are gifted the sets by lego, causing the price discussion to sound cheap and lacking of depth and understanding for those of us that can’t get every set that we want cause of price/budgeting restrictions?
eh being poor myself 70 dollars for this set seems pretty reasonable but yes I think there is some bias but agein many who are gifted lego complain about price aswell
I am so excited for this set. I consider buying it with the death star duel on May 4th and get the death star promo for free. I love Return of the Jedi so I think it's worth spending 170$ for these 3 sets
This is a day one set for me! I've been psyched for it since I first heard the rumors! I really hope Lego continues to make more of these on top of UCS in the future.
Great review! I appreciate your analysis and unbiased critique on these and other sets! Probably my favorite Lego personality when it comes to reviews and mocs. Keep up the great content!
a must get imo. it is the perfect balance for people who do not want to spend 600+ dollars on something that takes up a ton of space. might modify that stand to fit vader and an imperial officer or smth.
This is for sure the set I’m most excited for this season!! It’s such a surprise and I hope the continue this line it’s like a mini ucs set which is what I want like a collectors set but in play scale size so yeah this is definitely my priority in buying for the may 4th promos.
I'd really like to see this as a new collection, just like the helmets have become. We could get a few each year. It would be awesome to even buy multiple of certain ships for massive galactic battle re-creations. I think it would be very successful. The success of the helmets to me indicates that people want SMALLER sets that they don't have to save up for that work as display pieces. UCS sets are awesome... but aside from the money required, they take up too much space, more than the average buyer/hobbyist (or their spouse) is willing to dedicate.
If you have time to complain about the lack of a play feature for kids in a display only set than i respect your opinions but please take them elsewhere. there are plenty of sets coming out this year with cool figs that you can spend your money on instead of spending time and effort shitting on the return of one of the coolest ships in the imperial fleet in my opinion

Oddly enough I think this is way more fun for playability. Play scale capital ships are cool but as a kid you can't afford a lot and if you break it there's a bigger risk with putting it back. In this scale a kid could easily own one to three capital ships for the price of one play scale and break them and have fleet battles to their hearts content. I'm not a kid anymore but this is what I wanted as a kid. I built so many venator prototypes and I probably still have two somewhere
Obviously not all sets would be scaled to a star destroyer but it would be cool if most of them were a realistic scale to the ships sizes. The Nebulon isn't midi scale. It's actually scaled to match the UCS star destroyer (the recently retired ISD, not the Executor). UCS destroyer = 4 feet long ISD in universe = 1600m Scale = 400m:1 foot = 100m:3" Yes I know I'm mixing metric and imperial but one sec...
