I wouldn't really consider the allegiance to be a dreadnought. It's considered to be a battlecruiser class, which I think includes ships that are 2 - 4km long.
I like the Bellator. I saw someone comment something on a video that I think sums it up well. They said it’s a lot like a WWI battlecruiser which was a ship as well armed as a battleship but with less armor, making it more vulnerable to battleships but faster. The idea was that they could chase down slower ships and destroy them, which is how I envision the bellator working.
I would think that The Empire would prefer the pronunciation that invoked terror instead of the one that makes you think of businessmen. Even though everyone I've heard uses the business sound I personally always use the terror one. It was Vader's flagship. You know that guy, the Emperor's executioner?
I LOVE the star destroyer „The eclipse“. Searched it up and read some stuff about them, very interesting story behind the ship. Also I am fascinated by its form and general look. Favorite ship by faaar.
Though it is of the Executor-class, I think a special mention should go to the Lusankya. Though externally identical to other Executor-class vessels, it at one point held special modifications for Ysanne Isard’s private prison and biolabs.
Agreed, as it was also the only Super Star Destroyer to reside on a planet and used a unique Repulsor platform to break orbit. They also didn't cover the Iron Fist.
May 4 be with you. Thank you for mentioning the sizes of most of the ships. Also, I am curious about a lot of Separatist command ships and other ones that were in legends. including the new Republic ships.
Was really hoping to learn about the notable names ones and their accomplishments like the Chimera, Avenger, etc. still a great video. Maybe this is a future video?
One thing that always caught me up about these ships was that the Empire, even as massive as it was, usually struggled to actually be able to gayher enough crew to man them AT FULL OPERATION SCALE. They could carry hundreds of thousands of crew, and troops, but there just weren't usually that many soldiers available, or enough TIE fighters to fill up their docking bays. Especially when these star dreadnoughts still functioned as command ships or fleets, meaning various other attendant Star Destroyers were necessitating troops, pilots, and materiel, I could ALMOST believe that the loss of one wouldnt actually be THAT calamitous in regards to casualties, but no, it was still a huge number of losses. During the time of the Death Stars, it almost begged the question why the Empire ALSO needed these mobile space bases, and what theyd be fighting with the DS putting fear in the populace?
One ship was executor sister, laskatania, (its not its real spelling) it was featured in the Xwing series book, but it acted as a prison that wasn't a prison, but instead executator class star destoryer but it had a full layer on its belly of repaloser lifts so it comes from being buried into space. It was buried in the heart of the Empire, Couarasant.
So with The Empire Star Destroyers can be described as big Dorritos blazing with weapons. Alliance Mon Cal Cruisers and eventually The Viscount, giant pickles blazing with weapons. Hence why I like in AOTR Empire at War The Black Sun's Magnetar b/c though(sadly)not near as powerful as an SSD or Viscount(not even in AOTR, come on Pres and Cew)it at least has a cool design more like something you'd see from Battle Star Galactica.
I believed you missed both legacy era Star Destroy types: the Paelleon class star destroyer and it's successor designed as a fusion of inperial and Mon Calamari engineering, the Imperious class. IMO, it's the single coolest EU ship design, and it ironically enough became a hero ship after the last Galactic Alliance admiral standing managed to steal it to serve as his flagship, and spent the rest of the comic abusing the fact that it's advanced armor, guns, and relatively small manpower requirement made it capable of holding it's own against entire fleets of it's predecessors
@@BarakatheCollector nope. There's none of 'em in disney n neither is the mandator, bellator n archammer. Also the eclipse still is no sistership or even the same class.

Also i don't remember that the other executor ships were in vader. However. In ther only bit of canon that matters, cuz it's not subject to chsnge, the first executor also is the only so far. And again, he didn't talked about canon cuz as i said, eclipse wouldn't be in his listed sisterships eitherway, then.
4:36 Not really, if you look at it from multiple angles, it is much bulkier and acrually is shorter and wider, having more concentrated mass than an Executor due to its reinforced systems and heavier armor and weapons conpared to the Executor. Also, the Assertor was 15 kilometers in length, NOT 19 kilometers like the Executor.
I was 7 when ANH came out, so however old I was when TESB, my little brain just couldn’t comprehend the size of the Executor. I remember seeing the AT-ATs on Hoth and thinking they were enormous, but I couldn’t understand how they’d gotten to the planet. Surely they were too large to ferry through space on a Destroyer, and no way could they have been dropped from orbit. For years I just assumed they were just BUILT on Hoth, cuz there was no way an SSD, much less an ISD, was large enough.
Something that came to mind while watching this. What would it have been like if all these ships were fielded together in a fleet? One of each class of Star Destroyer I would think would be one imposing fleet to even consider attacking. Who in their right mind would?!
How to kill the rebellion: 1 suppremecy have 6 star destroyers latch on and jump to light speed towards the entire rebel fleet. 28 star destroyers will surround the fleet along with 14 wait what was it called vindicator indicator? Whatever wit was whichever had the gravity wells. Have 14 of those support them. Half of the mounted destroyers will detach and push towards the center. Did I mention that ever ship will deploy at least 75% of star fighters. Now what resistance would they have against over 10 thousand ties. Sit back and watch the magic happen.
Honestly, the SSDs are a waste of resources if you don't have a proper support fleet AND an enemy fielding sufficient weaponry/ships. The Executor herself should have had a proper escort fleet, including some kind of carrier screen for light-craft interception alongside her own air/space-wing. Say, let Vader have some form of Venator remnants/variants that were meant to escort the larger SSDs and provide proper fighter compliments to augment the Flagship. Given that Vader was an accomplished star pilot, I'm honestly surprised he didn't have his own small fleet of carrier vessels to help his personal vessel with starfighter coverage.
True. But while Admiral Thrawn advised against the SSD program and was against it from the beginning, he still wanted one due to how useful they are(after they are built, might as well utilize them). They are a very big reason that the Empire remnants did so well after the fall of the empire, they had massive mobile command centers that could project more power than any other ship in existence. So while the SSDs were a waste of resources, they were invaluable to the Empire and were a big reason they continued to be a powerful force even after the deathstar was destroyed. So from the Empire's perspective, they were good investments. And probably would be a good investment for any evil empire trying to hold onto power for as long as possible.
@corei6439 we can scale this down to our modern tech with ships and as soon as long range weapons reached a certain point of efficiency building big platforms with alot of guns became obsolete. Aircraft carriers could project fire power at sufficient range to be immune from alot of the threat but that is not the case today. A kh 32 anti ship missle with a 4000 pound warhead costs about 1 million $ and even if we go nuts and throw 100 of them at an aircraft carrier that's 100 million $ in missles and a 100% kill chance on a 10 billion $ ship. The numbers just don't add up. Small compact ships with alot of long range fire power are the modern meta. If a star destroyers shields could increase in power proportional to its size that would make sense but obvious that isn't the case at all. Alot of regular star destroyers > 1 big one in every conceivable way.
Arc Hammer technically isn't a Super Star Destroyer. It's more along the lines of a mobile factory ship. Albeit a heavily armed and armored factory ship, but still a factory ship. It needs to be protected by escorts of actual bona fide warships like regular Star Destroyers.
if we're accepting the canon 25k imperial class ships than the executor class' number isn't remotely as wild. unless that 25k isd fleet is also propaganda, which fills the "whered they go" plothole
