Judging by the battered state of the Chimaera, if Thrawn had any other ISDs with him they've all been stripped for parts by now. The name "Chimaera" might be extremely appropriate, it could be made of bits and pieces cannibalized from several different ships (perhaps even including salvaged alien tech and witchcraft?).
I figured as much. Why would he have 3 barely functioning ISDs? He'd obviously cannibalize the worst of them and feed it to the most capable/his own if he's that prideful (he probabaly is). I mean just looking at the Chimera, I doubt there's another ISD hiding somewhere else. Even if that one is similarly battered (no working primary engines too), they'd have stripped even the walls into patchwork for the Chimera. There were several structures that remain in a destroyed state, implying that the gold wasn't enough/too prohibitive aside from just securing major hull breaches.
There's also the chance the other ISDs weren't brought to Peridea in the first place. Perhaps they were scattered all across the purrgil migration path, some in other galaxies, some floating in the void.
Hell, I’ll add on to that. For all we know, they not have even survived the jump. Maybe they couldn’t take the stress of moving at such speeds and they got ripped apart during the journey.
I’ve been saying it since the start, the Eye of Sion is the Chimaera’s hyperspace ring. With the resources of the Shadow Council and Pelleaon’s level of resources that made Gideon and others question it, I think the Chimaera can easily become back up to 100%
I honestly hope we will see a big imperial fleet under Thrawn's command, and exciting grand battles... But I fear the opposite. That is, the whole plot stay small, and they take him out without any monumental happenings. 😪 (what would be really wonderful, is remnant SD-s jumping in numbers to a rallypoint, and we would see an homage to the ESB fleet scene...)
Think you are right about it being a hyperspace ring, but also have a feeling those 3 new republic battlecruisers are still at the planet they left with Empire loyalists in the right place(kind of like the ship yard) and they will strike just before he arrives to have replacement ships.
@@gryphonosiris2577 That's obviously a big hyperspace ring, no doubt about it. For at least one ISD though if it's even bigger than we assume then two or even three might fit if each anchor point is for one ship with Chimera docking directly to the bridge pod of the Eye of Scion.
The scene of the chimaera arriving is one of the best scenes in star wars for giving a sense of the scale and power of a ISD, even if battle damaged. Feels like a predator just arrived and everyone is holding their breathe and moving cautiously to avoid drawing its attention
Yeah, I do have to give props for an almost Vader level entrance. My kid was in the room and not watching, glued to her phone, and the music actually made her come up for air and comment "that sounds really creepy" 😮😁👏 well done folks, well done. My only real gripe would be something about his hairline is bugging the crap out of me. It looks artificial, and way too high, like they trimmed a normal one back to try to look closer to the animated. Weird.
I think it was a really good way to depict that all these powerful figures on top of their rock were ultimately nothing in the face of technological might. Only like likes of Anakin could actually pose a significant threat to a Star Destroyer, and the average jedi or sith were better served just not being in a situation where they had to deal with a star destroyer directly.
The ship could be like the Flying Dutchman. A supernatural ship that is powered by science and magik. And the night troopers could be a combination of enhancement and resurrection. Same for the chimera.
@@GenerationTech "You seen a star destroyer with a black hull, crewed by the damned and captained by an Admiral so evil Peridia itself spat him back out?"
Perhaps Baylan will unleash some great evil which the Nightsisters are trying to flee and it will merge with the Chimera to get to the other galaxy. An evil and conscious ship would be awesome. It would be like the Sci-fi horror movie Event Horizon.
Even if its nothing more than a nodding reference, if the Eye of Sion is refering to Darth Sion perhaps the state of the Chimaera is referencing Darth Nihilus' ship the Ravager, which itself was an Old Republic battlecruiser manned by force drained zombies and was basically functional but was held together by dark side energy rather than any real material construction.
From a technical standpoint, the Chimera is not battleworthy. But with Thrawn at the helm, added with the seen abilities of the Eye of Sion, it has a chance to survive long enough to make it's way to some kind of remote imperial remnant shipyard to make repairs and bring it back to its previous glory
@@LonnieBrewer-dd4wi And that's where I hope we'll finally see Thrawn's tactical genius. Outnumbered, NR is confident that they can easily stop the Chimera and we will then see a glorious battle that will end a victory for Thrawn. This also shows the audience that Thrawn is dangerous even with a "wreckage" old ISD I; What would it look like if he were to command a large fleet again?
with regards to Thrawn and Ezra surviving their trip through hyperspace despite the bridge viewports being shattered- it may well be that those viewports are covered by emergency MagCon (Magnetic Containment) fields- like those that allow hangar bays to remain open to space without venting atmosphere
@@Kaluga2if you've played Force unleashed. When you break the windows of the ship. They automatically deploy shutters. The only thing that would be weird would be if the Purrgil tentacles got cut off.
I like to imagine the damage was done by purgil bones hitting the ship and action sequences where you have alarms going off and officers manning guns all shooting bones coming down
should have some navigation shields for stuff like that but who knows maybe the sheer amount of them just overwhelmed the defenses. It would be cool to see some remains of the rest of the 7th floating in that ring
@@manuelgrothe608this is like 25 years before the events of the Force Awakens. Hux is probably 10-15 years old. Snoke may not even be made at this point. Also the emperor was hiding in the unkown regions of the gallaxy. Not an entirely different one.
After seeing all the impossible things Thrawn has managed to pull off in ship combat, I'd honestly say that he could probably find a way to beat an entire rebel or New Republic fleet with nothing but his single barely-functional Star Destroyer. Also, ha, Thrawn now has his own Red Ribbon Army. In regards to the gold that Thrawn is using to repair the ship, I guess it wouldn't be prohibitivly expensive if they're not buying it but rather mining it from the planet they're on themselves. And maybe they made some kind of super-durable alloy that uses gold as part of the recipe, like Iron Man.
@@norsekraken5718 You mean nothing except his neglect to actually understand his bodyguards, outside context problems, one or two Legends new republic admirals, the incompetence of his allies, his unwillingness to accept when a war is unwinnable, and a few other character flaws.
Thrawn is also sensible enough to retreat if necessary. Regardless of tactics, one undermanned battered ISD is no match for those Republic cruisers. Thrawn's genius includes being able to assess risk, and as a rule, he avoids taking risks unless absolutely necessary. He prefers certainty.
Well even if her weapon systems are spotty it at least looks like her armor and shields have been somewhat restored so she can probably take a beating or two. However, once back in the main galaxy I expect the Shadow Council will be able to provide most if not all the required resources to have her fully battle ready. Plus it does help the Eye of Sion has point defenses and a starfighter wing.
I can say with certainty based on that first scene that the Chimera's pipe organ still works quite well. Slightly more seriously, my guess would be that the purgil grabbed all of Thrawn's ships, but deposited the ones other than Chimera around the regular galaxy, probably with significant damage. That's why it was said the ships "vanished" rather than "were destroyed," and how Paelleon could be active in the main galaxy. Most of the ships did not end up in Peridea, because Ezra was just trying to get them away from Lothal and take Thrawn out of commission while hurting as few people as possible.
I believe the 7th was whisked away in all directions either by their own accords or by the Purrgil like Thrawn's Chimaera, but i think only Thrawn ended up in another Galaxy while Pellaeon and a portion of the Seventh would be recovered across the galaxy
Much like what happened to Hera and the x-wing squadron when the Eye of Scion jumped to hyperspace, the fleet was dispersed in the wake of the pods of Purgill jumping.
I think you might be onto something. It seems that a trip to the other galaxy is a one-way trip for purrgil.... so only the largest and oldest would do it.
@@travcollier I'd see that as being correct. We see all sizes of Purrgil but mainly just large ones grabbing onto the Chimaera, we don't really know if large ones grabbed Pell and the rest but i feel it'd make sense for it to be a portion destroyed and the rest taken by smaller ones
I love the whole vibe his ship and troopers have, they seem like they’ve seen a lot in 8-9 years, are battle tested, and know what to do to survive and win, can’t wait to see what they do in the final 2 episodes
If more than one to several other damaged ISD's were dragged by the purgill to Peridia, I'm surprised that the Chimaera is in such poor shape. I would've assumed that they'd cannibalize the other ships to whatever extent they'd need to in order to keep Chimaera at top shape. Unless they already have and this is as good as it's gonna get, in which case it reminds me of Darth Nihilus's zombie ship "Ravager" from KOTOR 2.
While they could have the parts to repair the Chimera by cannibalizing other ships brought to Perdia, would they have the facilities? Remember that one of the reasons that it became harder to maintain Star Destroyers at the end of the war was that the shipyards with the proper facilities were being taken by the New Republic. Perdia doesn't look to have any orbital shipyards and from what I understand ISDs can't actually land on planets.
Both good points, plus, if that many ships got taken, that would mean that the chimera was the most intact one afterwards. Thrawn wouldn't have hesitated to make the most intact ship his flag, sentiment be damned.
Maybe unimportant knowledge but Thrawn in Ahsoka has the same dubbing voice in German as in the audio book of the original Heir of the Empire, where Luke, Leia, Han etc. also had the original dubbing voices.
As a German that is actually really cool as I loved those audio books. Really good touch. Tho I'm watching the series in English so thx for letting me know. Guess lll watch the episode again in German 😎🤘
Same tone/style as well? The same narrator who did the English versions of heir to the empire trilogy, did the newer thrawn stuff, but adopting a very convincing take on Lars Mikkelsens show voice.
I had been thinking about how Thrawn and Ezra survived ever since Ahsoka came out because I remember the windows shattering. So I went back and rewatched the Rebels finale and you can see glass being put back in place mid-air as if Ezra was knitting together a window. How he managed to hold that to another galaxy all while after being shot I don't know. But I guess we'll figure that out later.
There are still imperial regiments around besides the first order, he maybe able to call on a few Thrawn loyalists maybe won’t be a grand fleet but could be a threat
@@alecpotato4124not necessarily. It's possible he was aware of a few supply depots as he was one of the grand Admirals and formally part of Palpatine inner circle.
@@alecpotato4124 Thrawn, in Legends at least never used SSDs, since he thought they were dumb. What he was good at though, was turning Rebel tactics against them, using rapid hit and run attacks, keeping his fleet on the move and making the New Republic look weak and ineffectual, thus spreading panic among the populace, so several worlds actually capitulated to him without a fight, since they figured the Republic couldn't beat him, so they should join him.

I'm interested to see whether or not the Chimaera is hiding any TIE defenders. If I were Thrawn, I would have kept a squadron on the Chimaera, probably from the first production batch and well before the factory was put out of action in Rebels. I would also take advantage of the Chimaera's damage and subsequent unorthodox repairs to retrofit some of the hull breaches as hidden auxiliary hangars, then pull a reverse Marg Sabl maneuver to visibly deploy the normal TIEs from the main hangar while obscuring the deployment of Defenders from the hidden hangars, a capability even experienced rebel admirals would not expect from an ISD. In short, I'll be mildly disappointed if we don't see any Defenders by the finale. Only mildly, though.
theres also a theory that when ezra was holding thrawn with the force he generated a "forcebubble" as seen by suspended particles in that scene that kept the atmosphere while traversing hyperspace
Wonder where Thrawn's naval personnel are, it's very strange that he doesn't have bridge officer as his adjutant. Its also possible that the rest of the 7th Fleet were dropped wherever Pallaeon was to be separated from Thrawn. That would explain why Pallaeon has so many resources and sway on the shadow council while being only a Captain that's separated from Thrawn.
Thrawn is like Captain Torres from ace combat, he is a singularity an outlier he doesn’t just want to destroy his enemy he wants to understand them. He is a singularity because of how much information he will soak in, granted we aren’t to the insanity part yet but I would not be surprised if he starts offering salvation to the new republic
Ahoy me maties. It be me Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Im here to tell ye that you can stop like 99% of all wars by nuking the capital of the Republic. I learned about ye knowledge while stuck outside the galaxy for 698 weeks while only being able to watch Night Sister prophecies, and now Im as sane as any old scurvy dog on this ship. Yar har har its my mental illness so I get to choose the coping mechanism.
He knows about the Gersk, they don’t. He stands a chance against the Gersk, they don’t. Their salvation is him taking charge and focus on the Gersk. Ashoka will ultimately thwart this, condemning the Galaxy to the same fate Luke did in legends when the Yuzhon von appeared.
One thing I can't help but notice is that both chimera and the storm troopers have been repaired with the bronze looking material. I am thinking it is probobly some local material native to this galaxy that is fairly comparable in strength to normal starwars armor materials.
It's true that Thrawn has limited resources right now but when he gets back he would most likely be as opportunistic as possible in acquiring new ships. I wonder if in season 2 will Thrawn acquire the Katana fleet like he did in the books? Would be a great nod to the original source material. Maybe he will reach out to his own people the Chiss for assistance.
I think it's likely at least one other ISD or a few small ships made it to Peridea with Thrawn, and recognising that the Chimaera was their best bet, the others were scrapped for parts to keep the main battleship going.
if more of the seventh fleet still remains, then I have to assume that the Eye of Sion will have to transport them one at a time... that being said, with the state that the Chimaera is in, and the likelihood that any other star destroyers Thrawn has are in a similar state, there is the possibility that Thrawn may have taken the decision to scuttle some of those ships to reduce his force to a size that he can keep supplied
I think the pragmatic Grand Admiral calculated that the Imperial staff officers wouldn’t be worth keeping alive when compared to the Stormtroopers. That could account for why there are so many Stormtroopers in the hanger. The coffins could contain the rest of the crew, which is why he needs the Mother’s Dark Magick.
The coffins are Cargo from the Mothers so no I don't think that these are crew members. They are Nightsisters and I bet they are not dead but in stasis.
Generation Tech almost daily for YEARS now I've always been looking forward to your videos!!! Not only are they just GREAT, but you as a creator use logical thought to tie in Star Wars with our day to day lives! May the Force be with you!
In a previous video, you mentioned that they had been there 10-11 years. If so, that's a long time to explore the local systems. We dont know if they are truly stuck on that planet. They might be now, but at the start of their excile, they might have had enough fuel and resources to explore out among the local systems.
I hope Thrawn doesn't die during this series he has so much potential and it would be interesting to see thrawns invasion from the perspective of someone like ke mando
He will be the antagonist in the movies that are planned to occur in this timeframe, which are supposed to combine characters from Rebels, Ashoka, and the Mandalorian
I believe in rebels recon on the Star Wars show Dave Filon or PabloHago said how Ezra used the force to keep the atmosphere on the bridge, you can see it because there’s glass shards floating
I believe that some of the other star destroyers may have survived, however they might have been gutted for parts and had their crews and resources consolidated on the Chimera to ensure its combat effectiveness and lengthen its survivability. The Star Destroyers logistical tail might be long, but it could be shortened for a time by utilizing the resources from several of them to keep 1 afloat
I'm pleased that Dave Filoni chose to depict the Chimaera as heavily damaged from the Purgil attack ~10 years earlier and the ship was partially repaired with whatever resources could be scrounged from Peridea. It demonstrates that Filoni CARES about those types of details and will push for them, in stark contrast to Jar-Jar Abrams, who didn't give a sh!t and reused the ISD-1 Star Destroyer CG model from Rogue One and upscaled it for TRoS to save money. Filoni learned the importance of a "lived-in universe" from his mentor George Lucas, whereas Jar-Jar Abrams only cares about superficial BS like lens flares and mystery boxes. I don't expect to see more of Thawn's ISDs in the Peridea galaxy; Thrawn seemed grimly forthright that his manpower and resources were diminished, so I don't think he's hiding a larger fleet. Even if more of the Seventh Fleet was taken to the Peridea galaxy by the Purgil, Thrawn probably cannibalized them for parts to repair the Chimaera. I believe Filoni is depicting Thrawn as the underdog so that he can demonstrate his tactical brilliance in a battle against the New Republic. My prediction is that Thrawn will return to Seatos and encounter the 3 NR cruisers still there. Thrawn will defeat the NR ships with a combination of his brilliant tactics and Nightsister magic. Perhaps Thrawn will shoot some of those mystery caskets at the NR ships and either undead Nightsisters or Stormtroopers will reanimate from them and commandeer the NR cruisers, in an homage to the stolen Mole Miners in Heir to the Empire. Ahsoka, Hera, and Sabine will escape the battle and warn the New Republic of Thrawn's return. Ideally, the New Republic will send its Home One fleet to confront Thrawn at Seatos, but Thrawn will have broadcast a message to the Imperial Remnant and the Imperial Fleet will start appearing out of hyperspace and completely surround the NR Home One fleet, and the season will end on a crazy cliffhanger. That's my hope anyway!
The why is Chimaera (not Camera, you idiot spellcheck) an ISD II? Or at least why does it have a long range communications array instead of a tractor beam targeting array?
I kinda wish that instead of the Chimaera making its return that maybe instead Thrawn has the ship rebuilt into something else using as much undamaged parts from the old ship into the new ship making a Chimaera 2
It's an Imperial warship so it would depend on the priority's of the situations that it has been through Vs it's ability to be repaired with parts that could be made from scratch. In Rebels Thrawn only had to face off against the ghost crew including two Jedi. The Skywalker Jedi faction could prove to provide more Jedi friends. Also Thrawn's return may get side tracked by the Chiss Acedancy.
In the books he was looking for katana fleet .a lost fleet of 200 dreadnoughts that the fleet commander slaved to fly in unison after a incurable virus broke out
The ONLY reason the Republic sent those 3 starships after Ahsoka, was so that they'll be there when Thrawn comes popping out of hyperspace and BAM! I could be wrong but I don't think so.
They are in one it 100% he won't destroy them he is going to slave ALL the new republic ships that have been built since he has been gone leaving only the older ships for the republic to use making them underdogs again,we built the katana fleet for him and we didn't even know it!
Thought Elsbeth said she built the hyperspace ring to thrawns specifications that he sent into her mind, so im assuming its designed to work perfectly with the Chimera
Between your analysis of tech, lore, and strategies and the Templin Institute's new fleet-building series, I have now accumulated more knowledge of Star Wars naval assembly than I've ever wanted to. Love it. XD
Thrawn just had to order the Imperial equivalent of E-4s to "tactically acquire" the parts from any of the other ships. The only thing he was really missing was a drydock.
I love the fact that you mentioned the net reaction that was produced in 2022. I wrote a paper about it about a month after if happened for a college class. I was so excited that it even happened.
Either it’s just rule of cool. seeing a star destroyed using a hyperspace ring, or theirs something important about the Cimera that makes it important. Probably not Cargo space
Odds are that any other ships that made it to Peridia were stripped for parts so that the Chimera could be repaired to the best of their abilities. Once the Eye of Sion brings Thrawn and the Chimera back to the main galaxy, Morgan Elsbeth will be able to use her vast resources to fully repair the Chimera.
Visually it reminds me of Darth Nihl's Sith Destroy in KOTOR II, held together by the dark side of the force, in this case though maybe by Night Sister magic.
I want to mention that we do know that hyperspace creates a vacuum and we know this from the clone wars when the droids were stealing separatists codes and had to fight the hoards of droids the bulkhead was opened and they had to magnetize to not get sucked out of the ship.
This is definitely my new favorite Star Wars channel on RUclips! Love your way of describing things and how much you know about my favorite universe. Continue the good work!
@@fgkuv5232he’s a decent businessman who from the start had a lot of financial backing. But even the businessman angle has slowly withered because of his now almost limitless funds. The man has become totally inept in anything but whipping up his fanboys into a frenzy and paying off people
I was curious about this question myself so, I hunted for what plans and schematics there were and turned them over to my Dad who is a chartered vessel salvage engineer and asked him to cast his eye over them and the images we see. His opinion, from over 30 years in the business, is that if Thawn arrived at Peridia with a few of his ships and used the badly damaged ones for parts, then there is a good chance that she'd be capable of putting up a half good fight. He thought it was odd that the gold like metal is not covering all over the damage, so his view is that its strapped to the original spaceframe in order to strengthen it compared to repairing like the trooper armour. The port side main engine not only looks damaged from the engine bell but also the area around is is pitted, scored and broke so he would discard that right away. The centre engine looks as if it would light if it was very badly needed to but the starboard main engine appears to be intact so he'd have no issues lighting that up. What he was surprised to note was the lack of repairs to the "upper works" or the bridge area - thats been left as damaged on arrival, so Thrawn might be controlling the ship from a secondary room. There also seems to be a lack of weapons from midships aft, so any engagement in a ship to ship role would have to be facing forwards on to the target
They Introduced the E-Wing, designed as a heavy upgrade to the X-Wing and as a powerful fleet escort. And we've only seen it used to chase down a target. Then we see the interceptor A-Wings being used as fleet escorts. Why
13:35 I've heard other content creators say that the hyperdrive creates a pocket of space around the ship and carries that pocket through hyperspace and I would guess the purrgil do something similar. It stands to reason that if you're in an atmosphere when you jump it creates a pocket of breathable atmosphere until the end of your jump.
Let's recall Return of the Jedi: "Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station." As with all good Star Wars, it will rhyme once Thrawn gets back and a squadron gets absolutely manhandled by his one seemingly wrecked Star Destroyer. In fact, if I had to hazard a guess, he will have a way to disable the ships and take the fleet for himself, maybe through an EMP like attack and perhaps by simultaneously activating his agents/ Imperial sympathizers that are part of the crews to disrupt/take over while the undead troopers board and reinforce (something that's super well set up across all the live action shows so far). Furthermore, we now know resources were being siphoned under the New Republic's nose from one of the biggest shipyards the Empire had. There may he a fleet waiting to reinforce Thrawn at some point.
I believe the cargo Thrawn was referring to is the remains of the Chimera’s crew. Because like you said, the stormtrooper count we saw in the hangar is much smaller than on an average star destroyer during the empire’s peak.
14:51 clearly, whatever metal is used to patch up the Chimera is also important to the Dathomiri witches. Morgan Elsbeth’s shuttle is made out of the metal, the rubix-map was made of the metal, the Night Trooper’s armor seems to be patched with this metal, and the interior of The Eye of Sion seems to be similar metal. Maybe it has some Magick properties?
One thing about gold patches on the Chimaera hull - it is reference to a Japanese art of mending broken pottery using gold, and is indicative that Thrawn might be wanting to mend together broken fragments of Imperial remnant... Thrawn is going probably try for repairing Chimaera once back in the OG (Original Galaxy) , then start guerilla war with whatever grand plan he has devised during his absence...
The little tangent about nuclear physics was a surprise...but a welcome one. Though in the New Republic was smart they's set up a full blockade at Setos to ambush Thrawn the second he comes back out of Hyperspace, since I'm assuming the Eye of Sion can only travel between Paridea and Setos.
Alan, I love your videos. Great subject matter, you speak and present well, and great editing. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your videos. It's truly a joy to get a New GenTech video notification.
Im hoping he dosent immediately announce his return but instead quietly links up with pellion and gets his ship fixed/upgraded etc Caz lets face it thry aint stopping that ring from bringing him back to the galaxy with 1 ship
I wanna look back at what we have seen in Mando season 3, when we're shown the shipyards on coruscant we see many ships still relatively supplied and intact, we see also earlier in ahsoka that the new republics shipbreaking facilities are riddled with imperial corruption... I think we've seen thrawns fleet.
The way you're describing it has me thinking of Napoleon's return from Elba - his 100 days. I remember history classes making it seem like Napoleon was an existential threat still but at this point his followers were outnumbered by many times to one by those opposed to him making his defeat at Waterloo inevitable. Is this what Thrawn ultimately is? Is this the parallel Filoni is going for? Making Thrawn a (relative) non-threat on the way to his Waterloo after his long exile in Purrgiltory? (sorry...I'll see myself out)
I personally am hopeful that we see more of Thrawn's Legends tactics ie Heir of the Empire style... I know that would be fan service but I really liked how that trilogy made him think outside conventional Imperial doctrine
13:37, for the air to escape through the bridge, the air would have to travel faster than hyperspace to exit the front windows of the ISD. Maybe that's why? Of course things can move normally onboard the ship in hyperspace but to exit the ship from the front I think might be much more difficult? idk could be wrong.
I think his seemingly underdog status with a beat up ship will make his inevitable first win even more impressive. He’ll win with brains not brawn… and a little magick.
I still have a huge number of questions, which sadly probably wont be answered any time soon. (Yes i know that you cant shoehorn a bunch of random stuff into the story, im just looking forward to some galaxybuilding) Other planets? Theyre so far treating it like its the only planet. By rights, even with damaged isds, he would have started scouting the wider galaxy at least small scale w any hyperdrive capable ships, either capital or transports, etc. Is it a dead galaxy? Because of some unimaginable ancient war maybe? Something any surviving species would risk a non ftl trip to the next closest galaxy for? If the galaxy isnt barren, why hasnt he started building his own empire? Its not like he loved palps, it was a means to an end. Hell, he had enough survivors to plop on a resource rich planet, to have a bustling supply hub by this point. For that matter, what the hell happened to the rest of the sailors? Are they zombies too? And this is more of a legends/cannon argument, but i dont buy that he would actively turn live troopers into zombies. It doesnt fit his character, and would be logistically impossible. "Please report to the quartermaster for your euthanasia and reanimation." . . . . . . Though i guess it did work on the necrons......
The only issue I have with his fleet returning is that there is only one, I repeat only one ISD scaled Hyperdrive Ring capable to returning the Chimera from the Unknown Regions. The rest of his fleet would not be able to join him without the Purrgil's dragging them out.
Oh wow I just realized another thing gold is better armor than we thought the main damage as in from proton torpedoes and turbo lasers are extremely hot and gold not only reflects heat and radiation but contrary to popular belief it actually becomes HARDER if heated too quickly not softer so it’s actually kind of genius to use as armor in Star Wars
Gold is a terrible material to repair a ship with. Its fairly soft, which means it makes terrible armour, but most importantly, extremely dense. Well over twice as dense as steel, which would be a major problem considering how the ship is already having to run the reactor at full power to stay hovering.

😪
(what would be really wonderful, is remnant SD-s jumping in numbers to a rallypoint, and we would see an homage to the ESB fleet scene...)
If you look at both sides of the middle of the ring you can see where the Eye of Sion would clamp onto the ISD.
Not that simple..
My kid was in the room and not watching, glued to her phone, and the music actually made her come up for air and comment "that sounds really creepy"

Agreed. Felt like a blimp docking, in a way, but so much cooler!

@@GenerationTech "You seen a star destroyer with a black hull, crewed by the damned and captained by an Admiral so evil Peridia itself spat him back out?"
I’m 100% in for that but I don’t feel like they’ll go that far for the actual ship unfortunately.
Not really, remember the New Republic fleet is waiting for him.
@@LonnieBrewer-dd4wi And that's where I hope we'll finally see Thrawn's tactical genius. should have some navigation shields for stuff like that but who knows maybe the sheer amount of them just overwhelmed the defenses. It would be cool to see some remains of the rest of the 7th floating in that ring
I’m sure the Eye Of Sion connects with the ISD Chimera and returns with Gilad Pellaeon, Rae Sloane, Nial Declann, Brendal Hux/Armitage Hux with Snoke
There was a massive explosion on the ship before the Purgill took it out of the one galaxy. They had 10 years to do whatever repairs they could.
@@manuelgrothe608this is like 25 years before the events of the Force Awakens. Hux is probably 10-15 years old. Snoke may not even be made at this point. Also the emperor was hiding in the unkown regions of the gallaxy. Not an entirely different one.
Thrawn doesn’t get boned so easily though

*cue Davy Jones theme*
I believe the 7th was whisked away in all directions either by their own accords or by the Purrgil like Thrawn's Chimaera, but i think only Thrawn ended up in another Galaxy while Pellaeon and a portion of the Seventh would be recovered across the galaxy
Much like what happened to Hera and the x-wing squadron when the Eye of Scion jumped to hyperspace, the fleet was dispersed in the wake of the pods of Purgill jumping.
Ezras presence with the force may have also kept them going longer than the rest of the fleet

@@ClanWeirWolfFair point Thrawn would have to wait or find the crashed destroyers and send down Gunships to salvage Parts and Ships I’d imagine
Maybe unimportant knowledge but Thrawn in Ahsoka has the same dubbing voice in German as in the audio book of the original Heir of the Empire, where Luke, Leia, Han etc. also had the original dubbing voices.
nice touch

This could be it. Thrawn ship was priority and so Thrawns ship was taken while the others randomized
Thrawn is like Captain Torres from ace combat, he is a singularity an outlier he doesn’t just want to destroy his enemy he wants to understand them. Torres wasn't a singularity, that's the player character. Torres was just a mad man obsessed with crisp white sheets and killing civilians.
The ace combat community spreads like wildfire.
The Great Admiral Thrawn, is like the Great Admiral Thrawn.... Long live the Empire!
Why scuttle when you can mothball?
I think the pragmatic Grand Admiral calculated that the Imperial staff officers wouldn’t be worth keeping alive when compared to the Stormtroopers. That could account for why there are so many Stormtroopers in the hanger. The coffins could contain the rest of the crew, which is why he needs the Mother’s Dark Magick.
The coffins are Cargo from the Mothers so no I don't think that these are crew members.
They are Nightsisters and I bet they are not dead but in stasis.

I'd rather read the original Heir to the Empire, so no thanks. I appreciate the visuals but I already gave up on watching the show.
I think that if all of Thrawn’s fleet was whisked to Peridia, then a good majority would have to be salvaged for the hull and supplies
Plus it looks like they've been fighting something out there because the armor looks way more combat worn rather than just use worn
What if the fleet didn't end up at Peridia.
I don't think so bc if it was they wouldn't need the gold alloy to repair the chimera rather just use durasteel from less functional ISDs

Visually it reminds me of Darth Nihl's Sith Destroy in KOTOR II, held together by the dark side of the force, in this case though maybe by Night Sister magic.
Dave Filoni likes putting references to legends material, so the resemblance may be deliberate.
I want to mention that we do know that hyperspace creates a vacuum and we know this from the clone wars when the droids were stealing separatists codes and had to fight the hoards of droids the bulkhead was opened and they had to magnetize to not get sucked out of the ship.

ISD does have a backup bridge that is not sticking out like a sore thumb on a big tower

Incidentally are we not forgetting that the ISD can contain a 150 meter CR90 in that hangar bay? Its about a tenth the length of the ISD at least.
HI Alan, I'm back for another episode of Generation Tech. My name, is Steven.
There may he a fleet waiting to reinforce Thrawn at some point.
love your videos man, been watching them a lot recently. best srar wars channel on yt no doubt.
I believe the cargo Thrawn was referring to is the remains of the Chimera’s crew. Because like you said, the stormtrooper count we saw in the hangar is much smaller than on an average star destroyer during the empire’s peak.
Amazing analogy to the mild hybrid, that is perfect
Im hoping he dosent immediately announce his return but instead quietly links up with pellion and gets his ship fixed/upgraded etc
Caz lets face it thry aint stopping that ring from bringing him back to the galaxy with 1 ship
(sorry...I'll see myself out)
Great Mother Klothow is played by Claudia Black (Farscape, Star Gate SG-1).
Of course things can move normally onboard the ship in hyperspace but to exit the ship from the front I think might be much more difficult? idk could be wrong.
when he gets back his ship might be in the shipyards for a long time
Nice to see that Kintsugi works for Star Destroyers as well as Storm Troopers.
I think his seemingly underdog status with a beat up ship will make his inevitable first win even more impressive. He’ll win with brains not brawn… and a little magick.
I still have a huge number of questions, which sadly probably wont be answered any time soon.
(Yes i know that you cant shoehorn a bunch of random stuff into the story, im just looking forward to some galaxybuilding)
Other planets?
"Please report to the quartermaster for your euthanasia and reanimation."

Only youtube channel where I watch the sponsored section. Idk how but anything GT does is entertaining to me.
That image of Kim jong un came out of nowhere lmao 11:16
7:12, I rewatched Rebels finale, only the Chimera was taken by the purgil.
