Malgus killed his own wife instead of letting others use that attachment against him. Then he broke the Sith Emperor's hold on him, truly living up to "Through Victory, my chains are Broken. Vader's anger was different from Malgus' anger, it is like an uncontrolled flood versus a concentrated stream of water (like a water jet cutter) able to slice a mountain in half.

Love Malgus, wish they would do a full series on his rise. Deceived is one of my favorite stand alone books. Malgus was what the Sith should have been, absolute power and domination.
In some weird/twisted ways I do think Sidious cared for his appearances on some twisted level. For Sidious to gift Vader one of his most prized possessions and when reading it thought of the similarities to Vader shows me that he at least kept him in his thoughts. I don’t mean care in the way most people would think of, but at least thought of on a more favorable level than the other people of the galaxy
Tbf he had known Vader since he was just a boy, so there would at least be some small level of paternalism in the care he had for him. From all accounts it did seem that Sidious truly did want to see Vader grow in power and potential, the same way a father would his son. He never took a second apprentice while he was master to Vader either, unlike every other apprentice of his and nearly every other Sith Lord alike
If you think about it, that shows how immensely powerful and connected Palpatine is in the dark side because he didn't have that raw anger that Malgus had, that's why he tried to push Anakin. I really think that Anakin's anger really subsided once Obi-Wan died, he really had no one else to hate, so there was nothing to sustain the raw anger that kept him tethered to the dark side
I believe if Palpatine had chosen Malgus as his true apprentice instead of Vader (Let's say Malgus gets frozen in a cryo chamber sleep for 3700 years later and is found by Palpatine) he would be able to make him into everything Vader could never be considering unlike Vader, Malgus was willing to let go of all the emotional ties and past losses that hindered Vader from reaching his full potential. While Vader was the chosen one to bring balance to the force and the entire galaxy, Malgus could be considered his dark side counterpart focusing on aspects of chaos and tyranny which are the qualities that Palpatine ultimately sought in a apprentice that Vader lacked.

Darth Malgus, a formidable and relentless presence, emerges as a truly captivating character within the Star Wars universe. His unwavering commitment to the Dark Side of the Force is nothing short of awe-inspiring, representing the epitome of power born from sacrifice. Malgus' mastery of the Force and his commanding intelligence amalgamate into a force to be reckoned with, challenging all who dare to oppose him. What sets Malgus apart is the remarkable fusion of his boundless hatred with a singular, unswerving purpose. His capacity to channel this immense hate into a focused, goal-driven pursuit is a testament to his character's complexity. It is this very duality that makes him not only a fearsome antagonist but also a character of profound depth and intrigue. As an ardent fan of the Star Wars lore, I find Darth Malgus to be an enthralling embodiment of the Sith ethos. His presence in "Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived" leaves an indelible mark on readers, compelling them to revisit his story repeatedly. Malgus is definitely a favorite of mine, because he’s basically an ancestor to Vader. Also, speaking of love, were there any hidden holocrons that detail any kind of relationship, however brief, between a Jedi and Sith?

However, he still had the presence of mind, and awareness to lead. However, Malgus admitted that sometimes, his bloodlust would drive him to nearly kill his own soldiers.
I think he valued the effect on Vader more than he valued Malgus himself. I don't honestly think Palps understood love and therefore could not really comprehend the effect of loss. He could however get some insight as to how this loss thing could be used to manipulate Vader. And as he spent years trying to accomplish this we can assume it was high on his priority list. I believe that the emotions of anger, hatred, pain, and suffering are the keys to the Darkside, and in my honest opinion, the Sith code is the conduit to that power
the true reason Malgus was so important to Sidious was that he inspired the way Sidious wished to go out: thrown down a giant shaft in the middle of his throne room.
Both Malgus and Vader were not only evil, sadistic, cruel and brutal men, they also based their lives on a fundamental flaw of logic. “Power”, the ability to compel others to obey your wishes, is not an end in and of itself, but only a MEANS to an end. No wise man seeks power for its own sake, for that is purposeless; you seek power in order to achieve a goal or purpose. The reason Sidious himself seems often discontent after achieving his greatest victory and destroying the Jedi and raising the Empire is because now he no longer had a purpose. He eventually found another one, achieving immortality, but even that is kind of a cheat; if you get immortality then you needn’t fear death, but then what? Now you are again without purpose and this will never end until you make yourself pursue a new goal. Lucas clearly intended his villains to be such men of power, but of deeply flawed vision, and its what redeems them from being the cut out bad guys from which he drew inspiration for the original trilogy. Sidious never understood that Vader only saw the dark side as a means to an end. it doesn’t seem like Vader ever cared to be a Sith Lord, in his mind it was all he had left so he trudged through the rest of his misery until he met Luke.
Actually, Sidious did know that Vader only saw it as a means to the end, because he used it as the primary means to recruit Anakin the first place. It didn't particularly matter to Sidious that it was the only thing Vader had left because the way Sidious saw it, Vader was nothing more than someone who could do his dirty work until a much better prospect came along.
Building his Empire on the power of anger was both a wise idea, and the seed of its destruction. The Rebellion was built on anger as well, anger against the brutality and injustice of the Empire, but also on hope. The hope that they could overcome. In the end, it's arguably what helped them win.
Darth Malgus was the Second True Sith Emperor never forget that in his research he was inspired by ancient sith writing's if something cannot be fixed it must be destroyed and rebuilt he followed the ancient wisdom of pureblood sith Emperor Malgus was an inspiration to all future Sith to follow he was perhaps the second greatest Sith from Vitiate's Empire next to Dark lord Jadus
This video reminds me of a reply I got to a comment I wrote more than 4 years ago mind you. I commented on a video about Malgus that I love Malgus, he is like Vader without his limitations and someone replied, once again I wanna stress that I wrote it more than 4 years ago and someone replied: "What limitations?! Malgus and Vader have different strenghts and weaknesses, you are just a Malgus fanboy". The fact that someone saw a comment I made 4 years ago and decided to write this to me says a lot, I guess he is the Vader fanboy, I didnt even say anything bad about Vader, I just mentioned that Malgus was more mobile
This is why Malgus is so powerful, his own influence made Vader and Palpatine, two of the strongest sith lords to ever exist admire him, Malgus was a true sith, a true warrior
Thank you these videos I've learned so much about Star wars lore and some of these videos even helped me fill in the lore and story gaps of some of the games I've been playing. I picked up Star wars Knights of the old republic the sith Lords recently and it was so cool fully understanding the back stories of some of the characters in the game. Cheers man
Curious really - Palps enjoyed a raucous panto villain laugh and was partial to a bit of trolling where as Malgus was permanently livid like a dad who's forever stubbing his toe. Can't imagine there'd be much in the way of small talk when Palps corners him by the punch table and tells him he's his biggest fan.
Darth Malgus is the best sith of the old republic era. He broke rebelled against a corrupt sith empire and established his own, came back as a slave to empress Acina but broke that hold too, and established his own dark side gangster empire. Malgus is more sith than Vitiate. Fact. Malgus is what Vader should've been. Malgus is also arguably the best boss battle in stwor too
Anger is when there is some power you want and are denied. So the more power you have the less angry you will be. So there's a negative feedback loop there. If it were the other way around, if you gained more power from the calm satisfaction of attaining power, that would be a positive feedback loop which would ever expand. Just some food for thought.
Even with Vaders anger.. anger against Sidious.. himself.. the Jedi.. Obi-Wan.. it pales in comparison to what Malgus had become. Chaining him in that space station only makes him more angr, giving him more power.
This explains why Sidious made his empire nearly dystopian in nature instead of perfecting what the Republic should have been. If it helps fuel his powers why not right?
I don't think either were wrong to be so enamored with Darth Malgus, but I think its because of Malgus Vader himself eventually became redeemed into the light, as while Malgus and Vader killed their lovers the intent behind them were vastly different. but paradoxically this want to aspire to be like Malgus brought Vader into a mindset that when Luke was finally discovered Vader lost a great deal of his anger even if he had not realized it.
I'm not saying it was Malgus directly that caused his redemption, or taking anything away from Luke's own part, but Vader tried his hardest to forget about Padme, and embrace the qualities he shared with Malgus, the thing is when you put so much effort into forgetting something paradoxically you only end up remembering them more, so it wasn't Malgus but it was his trying to draw a connection with the ancient Sith Lord that led to him obsessing over Luke which then led to him being redeemed ultimately.
@@andreijohnson3953 um what? Do you not comprehend what you read? He isn't saying that Malgus redeemed Vader, he's saying that the lessons from Malgus journal and trying to follow the same road is what left the opening for Luke to redeem Vader after Vader learned he had children and wasn't alone after all. The way Vader obsessed over Luke caused a lessening of Vader's anger and hate and left room for the lightside.
I remember I showed SWTOR to some of my friends back in the day. All of them were like (about Malgus): "He looks like a cheap ass Vader copy." They played the game for some time and learned: Malgus was the OG
i notice that most sith stop at gaining victory in the sith code. malgus completely internalized the sith code and truly broke his chains. few sith have been as sucessful as malgus in that regard.
malgus understood that one of the key attributes of the force was conflict and he relished in becoming the very avatar of conflict. the main difference between him and vader that i see is that malgus was conscious of his actions and intent while vader was ruled by his unconscious actions which ultimately led to feelings of powerlessness. sidious clearly used this to keep him on a short leash. sidious also perverted the teachings of malgus and bane by reflecting hate onto the galaxy to ensure his survival. the very notion of parasitism. the strongest sith stood tall, and strong plumming the unknown depths of knowledge in the force.
Would be nice to see a video about Malgus being Vader Master..... Both of their Lady's joined them.... I am pretty sure you could think of a way to end it??????
No I don't agree. Malgus is another broken character who clearly has lost it. Sidious seems like a psycho who was having a great deal of fun scheming and manipulating but, in the end, he hid his true nature from the Galaxy rather than promoting his identity as a Sith lord and displaying his powers publicly. I believe that Sith like Ragnos or Vitiate/Valkorion were true Sith lords while broken husks like Malgus and Vader, while great warriors, can't be considered great Sith... and while Sidious was definitely very gifted and powerful, he was an oppressive jerk rather than the savior God that he easily could have been and be worshiped by the entire Galaxy.
Malgus is DEFINITELY the kind of Sith that other Sith should aspire to be. He's such a good character as well as an incredibly powerful Sith Lord.

It didn't particularly matter to Sidious that it was the only thing Vader had left because the way Sidious saw it, Vader was nothing more than someone who could do his dirty work until a much better prospect came along.
Who controlled Darth Malgus, who was above him, the BEST SITH LORD OF THEM ALL.
True vitiate was the best He made malgus❤❤❤
"I don't see the big deal not impressed."- Luke Skywalker
The Lava bank didn't take Vader's leg and arm that was Obi-Wan Kenobi
great video
Something...something...dark....side
How flattering, he said darth malgus was purely dedicated to the dark side
Malgus is one of my all time favorite characters in all of Star Wars.
Building his Empire on the power of anger was both a wise idea, and the seed of its destruction. The Rebellion was built on anger as well, anger against the brutality and injustice of the Empire, but also on hope. The hope that they could overcome. In the end, it's arguably what helped them win.
Malgus probably hates the Sith Warrior for having Vette 😬.
Malgus is in fact, actually superior to Vader in every way. Vader has plot armor though, which is invincible.
I would have been honored to learn the ways of the dark side from malgus. Using one’s anger as a fuel for power isn’t a simple task and he perfected.
And Darth marr, but your point still stands.
Both these great men masterminded the sacking of the Jedi temple.
The fact that someone saw a comment I made 4 years ago and decided to write this to me says a lot, I guess he is the Vader fanboy, I didnt even say anything bad about Vader, I just mentioned that Malgus was more mobile
hes a brilliant tactician a friking brute and bad ass looking at the same time
me: force crushing the subscribe button
also me: What have I done!!
TSW: Good your full filling your destiny!!!
Amazing
Nice acolyte call out!
He wasn't like a demon, he WAS a demon.
Darth Malgus is my favorite Sith because of his battle prowess, his love for his woman and his will.
Loved her to death, just like Anakin loved his woman.
Malgus was basically the mirror opposite of Revan - and just an absolute beast beyond any comparison.
Malgus deserves the sithari title, the ultimate sith emperor.
My Sith Warrior fought alongside Malgus briefly. I sent him to sell my unwanted loot and enjoyed it.
This is why Malgus is so powerful, his own influence made Vader and Palpatine, two of the strongest sith lords to ever exist admire him, Malgus was a true sith, a true warrior
Malgus is my favorite ever! Sacrifices his love for his will. The only sith to ever break his chains ⛓️
I wish we got to talk to him more in SWtOR. Id like to know more about him.
Malgus is also arguably the best boss battle in stwor too
How is He more sith than vitiate
@@1qplayer626 cause Malgus is a GigaChad. Vitiate is an old lonely virgin
@@chadcat420 no vitiate is a god
@@1qplayer626 Vitiate is a virgin. Darth Malgus cucks him
Anger is when there is some power you want and are denied.
What book or comic is this from?
This explains why Sidious made his empire nearly dystopian in nature instead of perfecting what the Republic should have been. If it helps fuel his powers why not right?
I don't think either were wrong to be so enamored with Darth Malgus, but I think its because of Malgus Vader himself eventually became redeemed into the light, as while Malgus and Vader killed their lovers the intent behind them were vastly different. but paradoxically this want to aspire to be like Malgus brought Vader into a mindset that when Luke was finally discovered Vader lost a great deal of his anger even if he had not realized it.
Vader never killed padme
Vader wasn’t redeemed because of Malgus, he was redeemed because of Luke. What the hell are you on about
I'm not saying it was Malgus directly that caused his redemption, or taking anything away from Luke's own part, but Vader tried his hardest to forget about Padme, and embrace the qualities he shared with Malgus, the thing is when you put so much effort into forgetting something paradoxically you only end up remembering them more, so it wasn't Malgus but it was his trying to draw a connection with the ancient Sith Lord that led to him obsessing over Luke which then led to him being redeemed ultimately.

All of them were like (about Malgus): "He looks like a cheap ass Vader copy."
They played the game for some time and learned: Malgus was the OG
i notice that most sith stop at gaining victory in the sith code. malgus completely internalized the sith code and truly broke his chains. few sith have been as sucessful as malgus in that regard.
He has not met #DarthTonder yet!
malgus understood that one of the key attributes of the force was conflict and he relished in becoming the very avatar of conflict. the main difference between him and vader that i see is that malgus was conscious of his actions and intent while vader was ruled by his unconscious actions which ultimately led to feelings of powerlessness. sidious clearly used this to keep him on a short leash. sidious also perverted the teachings of malgus and bane by reflecting hate onto the galaxy to ensure his survival. the very notion of parasitism. the strongest sith stood tall, and strong plumming the unknown depths of knowledge in the force.
My sith mount Rushmore..malgus.revan.vader.skywalker
Would be nice to see a video about Malgus being Vader Master.....
Both of their Lady's joined them....
I am pretty sure you could think of a way to end it??????
Me 2012: This Malgus is just a Vader rip-off...
Me 2023: Malgus is the greatest Sith that ever lived!!!!
Malgus is my favorite sith of them all
Anakin kills Padme: NOOOOOOOOOO
Malgus Kills his wife: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
What’s the source on Malgus killing his partner
Nobody better then Luke Skywalker grandfather king plagues lives
This sound track can work for Metroid.
What game are those cut scenes from?
Darth Malgus is my favorite character in Star Wars!
I think Vader did kill Padme. He unknowingly used Force drain on her to keep himself alive after his defeat.
Day 35 of asking for a part 3 of what if anakin was trained by qui gon
True vitiate was the perfect sith
Malgus is an absolute legend for sure. But Bane bar none is the greatest Sith to ever hold the title in my eyes.
Agree 100%. I wish we could get a movie or show about Bane.
a entire series dedicated to the ancient sith lords like Bane Revan Vitiate Tuluk Horde would be awesome
