Dooku thought he had a brilliant plan..... Until he realized that a darkside Yoda would literally be an uncontrollable and nearly unstoppable monster I mean just imagine what dooku felt for him to instantly be in complete fear for his life
@@spiderboy-fm3cvsuch a shift would definitely NOT go unnoticed. Particularly by someone of palpatine’s level. Though, this does beg the question of, why did palpating still choose to engage in a fight with yoga?
@@gamer4l1f34 Probably for two reasons. First: Sidious believed that the dark side makes him innately more powerful than Yoda so long as the Jedi grandmaster remains in the light side. Two: with how quickly Yoda was able to pull himself out of the dark side made Sidious realize that Yoda falling to it in the heat of battle was non-existent.
Tyrannous is a novice Sith. Also I think that Yoda has shown many signs that he has a unique mastery over all aspects of the Force, including the dark side. That’s why he’s so well preserved against it. There’s no secrets hiding in Yoda’s soul, he know who he is in a way no one else ever has. I think that’s what defines his character above all else.
@@zexcthd5519 Jokes aside, I don’t think it takes a soul 900 years in real life to pursue such a rich self understanding. It just takes a certain amount of values and a desire to be a positive force of life. Characters like this are so powerful in storytelling for a reason, it’s a call to quest in every day life.
@nicholasmatthew9687 I'm not a big fan of star wars, but my favorite character is Yoda because of his wisdom, but to see all the work he had ever done to stay in the light side fall away was terrifying, even for a moment it is traumatizing.
Yeah, we see that in the star wars tales of the galaxies edge psvr2 game......there was a pretty....out there part in there where has to contain what seems like a dark side nexus of some sorts .....it's pretty mad..
I think the same. I feel Yoda had *already* done what Dooku was asking. He had embraced his dark side. The other Jedi lived in fear of it, so they were basically suppressing a half of themselves. Dooku tried and failed, because ultimately his pride and ego overcome his compassion and humility. But Yoda had done precisely what the Jedi are meant to: to bring balance to the force, not worship the light side or be consumed by the dark side like the Sith. He had *already* made peace with his desires, his emotions and his fears. This means he must have faced them. He had already united both sides of the force within himself. He did not need to 'use' the dark side but he had access to it. He's simply never tried to 'give in' to it before this moment. From the language often used, it seems the dark side is more of a baser, animal instinct that one 'gives in' to while the light side is a more theological or intellectual set of tenets that one 'believes in'. Yoda did neither. He simply allowed the Force to guide him.
5:56 I now have this mental image of Dooku saying, "Fine!" and stomping off to a florist shop, slaughtering the people inside, then walking out with an arm-full of roses.
That was kind of frightening actually. Had Yoda turned to the dark side when Order 66 was unleashed, we would have seen what Sauron in LOTR desired to become. But not just endless master of the world, but that of the galaxy. That he SO far exceeded even Sidious at his most powerful in the dark.....yikes. Dooku was not a man to fear generally anything either.
@@avarycepierce6296 funny to think that all darksiders use their full power, while Yoda barely taps into his power because of the jedi code, his trust in the force to not go ape shit against sidious is far beyond me.
The saddest thing is, of course, Yoda assures him that he will be there to catch him when he falls, if only he would let him. Just a caring father, emploring a wayward son to return.
Dark Rendezvous is perhaps the best Clone Wars era novel. Never before, or after, is Yoda or Dooku written so well and to character. No other novel really puts home how much Dooku's departure from the Jedi was a big deal, and how big of a score it was for Sidious to recruit Dooku as Yoda says "The most powerful Dooku was. The most learned, the most knowledgeable. Our greatest student, our greatest failure." It is only novel that explains clearly why Yoda broke centuries of tradition, and his own 300 year old personal rule, that the Grand Master does not take a padawan. Yoda felt he was the only one capable of training such a powerful and gifted student. It more than anything underlines the twin failures of Dooku and Anakin, because the Jedi made the same mistake TWICE with their most gifted students.
@@ModernDayRenaissanceMan Luke was never stronger than Vader as of the OT. In ESB, he gets shit on. As of ROTJ, it’s only after a lengthy time spent training that he’s even at that Knight level. He really only even beats Vader at the end by not only giving into the Dark Side, but by Vader not even fully intending on killing Luke (or at least feeling conflicted and not fully present with one direction). Luke is powerful as of the end of ROTJ, but is nowhere near Grandmaster level, and had also trained much more than just on Dagobah in ESB
Yoda doesn't want power, so it doesn't seem likely he would fall to the dark side, just from channeling his passion to save his friends. A lot of force users have used their passions without turning evil and cruel and using it from a good way, to save people's life shouldn't be as dangerous as he thinks. It would be more like taking a step towards a grey jedi, than a step towards the sith.
True Greys look at the force in the even harder Third path the path to the Father where Jedi live in the light and are blinded by the Dark the Sith live in solitary loneliness within the darkness and skitter away from the light. Grey Je'daii are those who stand between embracing both but also commanding both while trying to maintain a precarious balance between Order and Chaos and follow the Father in his true mastery of the force.
I choose to believe that Yoda has an intimate relationship with the dark side, therefore he chooses the light! Yoda is so powerful with the force that he easily changes from the light to the dark back to the light to prove to dooku where the true power is.
Dark side Yoda is the definition of fuck around and find out. 10 time more powerful than star killer with 800 years of wisdom and patience. I truly belive he would be strong enough to defeat 10 of the most power full sith at once from bane and reven to sidius. He would embrace the power and use vaepod to absolutely crush anything in his path.
I like the way Maul taught Ezra about how emotion and passion fuels the dark side, and the way Ezra learned that your family and connection to them can be your safe place and tether to the light, instead of being a path to the dark. I agree with Yoda’s point about being content and grateful, and I agree with Dooku’s point that the “dark side” is just another part of the force. Honestly I don’t think people get “consumed by the dark side” and lost forever, I think it has more to do with the individual’s pride, and having that much power means you don’t have to apologize or humble yourself. I think it’s not that the dark side turns people, I think it just gives corrupt individuals a way to not have to have accountability for their actions, and an excuse for what they did in case they get caught.
There was a similar meme regarding Grogu. It was Grogu in the future teaching his own Padawan and he told him that love and connection to others (which Jedi eschew) does not necessarily lead to the Dark Side, but the fear of LOSS does. Once you realize that even those who die before you are not really "gone" but have rejoined the force, then you can never be afraid of loss again, and the Dark Side will never threaten you.
Think of it like this: The Dark Side is like an amplifier of your deepest desires and passions. It operates like a hard liquor, in that it helps release your inhibitions, and you'll do whatever you can do in order to obtain those desires. For some people, it's insanely easy to fall into the dark side, like Anakin, if you press on his seeming helplessness to save those he cares about. Or even use Windu's passion for the Jedi to push him beyond reasonable action and to go for something a Sith would do. For others, their sense of justice refuses to allow them to move. Obi-wan, as dogmatic as I could find him, has this character that keeps him tethered to the Light. However, I think only Qui-Gon and Yoda come closest to truly being Jedi in the sense that they can find balance between the Light and Dark. It isn't as black and white as just declaring one side totally good or totally evil, but it's a complicated factor with many moving parts, all working within the bounds of the Living Force.
It must be hard for Yoda, seeing Dooku becoming their ultimate enemy (before they knew Sidious even existed), as Dooku was Yoda's personal Padawan. The first one he had in such a long time, seeing so much potential inside of Dooku. Although, for all Yoda's wisdom, he remained blind to the real problems Dooku had with the Jedi's dogmatism and the legitimate grievances many planets in the galaxy had with the Republic. Yoda really could have been a force for change for the better inside the order had he not been so blinded by dogma. It's hard to imagine that someone as wise as he was couldn't see the issues that surrounded him every day, as they really were quite glaring imo 🤷
I think one of the biggest reasons Yoda was ok with letting go and being so understanding that not everything can be controlled was his age. Years of seeing so many lives lost, having that much time to cope and learn was a luxury. One not everyone could be afforded. Other force users looked for the quicker and easier way because not everyone gets a couple centuries to build as strong of a sense of self. He was incredibly wise, but I think that numbness dulled how well he could empathize with others.
Dooku’s real issue was pride, not the Jedi. He thought he deserved more recognition. Palpatine manipulated Dooku into thinking he would get it. Instead he was just a patsy and a practice dummy for Anakin.
At least Yoda acknowledges a that the Dark Side can offer power and actually listens to Dooku instead of just saying that only the Light Side is always right and that Dooku was a fool for following the path of the Sith. It’s these deep interactions that are missing from Disney Star Wars, if it wasn’t for the Expanded Universe there would be no Disneyverse.
@@heftymagic4814 It's astounding to see how people will gaslight themselves like this for the sole purpose of being able to continuing chanting "mOuSe BaD" even when good star wars stuff comes out.
I believe he did. In his fight with Sidious. For a brief moment as he was repelling the force lightning if you look into Yoda's eyes I believe he gave in momentarily in order to over power Sidious. And the look of terror on Sidious's face which then led to the end of the fight as Yoda fell from the pods
@@Berserker3624 for the most part. Up until the moment I was referring to when Yoda over powered him. He looked terrified. I believe Yoda did momentarily tap into the dark side there but pulled himself out too soon. If he would've held on a bit longer he absolutely would've killed Sidious. Perhaps Yoda was thinking, he must stop Sidious by "any means necessary" but changed his mind quickly thinking it wasn't worth it to kill with the dark side. That's my interpretation from that brief moment that ended the dual anyway.
Agree with the comment above. I believe that Master Yoda left the battle in the Senate because he was close to the final fall to the dark side. And with the continuation of the battle, this would have happened. That is why he went into exile.
I disagree in a way.. he is one with his dark side, accepting something that he would see as grime and unpleasant but needing to focus through it.. mace and yoda use it in combat, mace more.. yoda uses it more with the force, able to bend the dark side as he can his environment and body
I’m not much knowlegeable about Star Wars, but I think that if Yoda had used the dark side to stop order 66, this event would have corrupted the Jedi order forever: even the Grand Master of the Jedi used the dark side when things got bad, so why would any other Jedi not do the same thing? The Jedi order would have no future, because this idea would contaminate all Jedi hearts, even if the Siths were physically eliminated, they would still survive as an idea inside the Jedi.
I think the larger point is that just like a light side yoda a dark side yoda doesn’t want anything. The difference is, the dark side yoda wouldn’t care about anything other than his whims. Meaning essentially dark side yoda would be the equivalent to a Greek god. All powerful and very whimsical. Could wipe out the entire universe and start anew just because he was bored. Because the ironically the dark side of the force embodies change, death, decay, chaos. Just as Yoda is an avatar of the light, peace, life, serenity, growth, healing, the dark side yoda would embody the very end of the universe itself
I think the difference is that, Yoda had *already* done what Dooku was asking. He had embraced his dark side. The other Jedi lived in fear of it, so they were basically suppressing a half of themselves. Dooku tried and failed, because ultimately his pride and ego overcome his compassion and humility. But Yoda had done precisely what the Jedi are meant to: to bring balance to the force, not worship the light side or be consumed by the dark side. He had already made peace with his desires, his emotions and his fears. He had already united both sides of the force within himself. He did not need to 'use' the dark side because he'd already embraced it. Not fully, of course, but he would do that later on, after Ep III events
The image of dark Yoda on the swamp has scarred me for life and this image is not even real. So glad that Yoda remained the good and wise master Jedi he is and stayed that way until very end
Give me my rose and "we wished to live forever and the doctor assured that we would" are two of my favorite lines now. (the later is from doctor who fury of the time lord, where the doctor breaks his rules and gives the villens fates worse than deathh)
Really like this video! I think Yoda was wise to show Dooku how easy it is to let yourself fall to your own desires or fears. Alternatively, how easy it is then to obtain those very same goals from the other side of the spectrum. Or rather, to accept some things as the law of the force, that everything must come to an end eventually. If Yoda were to have given in entirely and used to dark side to save the Jedi; I believe he would have just become the very thing he sets out to destroy.
I'd love to imagine Sidious unaware of this conversation eating a hamburger and then suddenly choking when he felt Yoda go dark. "The hell was that!?!?!"
By going to the Dark side for Dooku, Yoda showed he was in control of his dark side ENTIRELY. That is what really make Dooku afraid. Not what he could become, not that he was more powerful than Sidius either, i think. Contrairy to all others he knew, Dooku could see the dark side incarnated but CONTROLED by Yoda. ''Give me my Rose...'' was the proof the good side was still there...and in total control. And mastering one's own dark side, is supreme mastery. Dooku doesn't controled his own dark side; power and supreme wisdom is what he wants...and because he wants it, the Sith use him... He knows that. That is the reason he deleted the archives... because he wants to prove to Yoda and all the Jedi HE WAS RIGHT to fray toward and even with, the dark side... As he believe knowledge of the dark side hide the ultimate secret; the weakeness of the dark side...what could kill Sidious and give Dooku ""total power"". The truth is, Sidious is the Dark Side incarnated. Dooku wants the secrets and he is ready to do Sidious biding to achieve that goal...making himself evil (but never totally) but he is not fool enough to give DAgobah to Sidious either...Dagobah might be the last place to hide if his plan fail... it is a safe gate for him... And forcing a fight between Sidious and Yoda might give Dooku a chance to strike the deadly blow...and get rid of Sidious once and for all. Dooku is an idealist who believe he has the best plan to achieve victory against Sidious...But his true purpose must stay secret... In private, Dooku wants to take down Sidius. But time is running against him and Sidius knows Skywalker is coming to his side...he will soon gain Skywalker and get rid of Dooku half devotion...for someone more naive, young and even more powerful. That is why he said to Obi-Wan ''You should have join me Obi-Wan, i told you everything you needed to know...''
If Yoda was truly to become a Sith, none could oppose him. He would be the most powerful Sith to ever live, and the most terrifying being in the universe. His power in the light and dark would be limitless. Sidious would cower and bow to Yoda is sheer terror.
Yeah the exchange between Yoda n Dooku mentioned in this video would've made an incredibly interesting scene in the old Clone Wars series. Shame that we'll never get it.
When Dooku thought it was a good idea to argue with a 900 year old dude. Multiple lifetimes, can't even fathom how many imaginary shower arguments Yoda had with himself.
@thestupendouswave I've heard you tell this story two other times, I've thoroughly enjoyed those times in previous, still this time is by far my favorite. Love how you went so in depth with it. Love the channel, thanks alot!
Yoda to the darkside, the galaxy nye the universe itself would be shaken to its very core much like Dooku when he realized his mistake. There are things that should never be, Yoda to the darkside for that would be the end.
dooku: "hey you'll never believe this, I turned Yoda to the dark side!" palpatine: "you did WHAT?!" *senate chamber door breaks down, Palpatine screams like a scared child as Yoda comes through relentlessly slicing through the senate and the redrobes*
As we all know, the Jedi code was placed due to the unimaginable power of a force user. Yoda, being 900 years old, witnessed a lot of things, probably tried things beyond the comprehension of light and dark side users. Just imagine if he totally let go of that thread that's been keeping him in control of his mind and power. As the saying goes, a power that can not be controlled will only bring about destruction, not breakthroughs.
This just shows that Yoda is wise beyond even his near eon of life, and that he knows what he could do with the Dark Side, but chooses to stay in the Light, because he does not seek power, despite already actually having it. Yoda's definitely the avatar of the Light.
Yoda was also thoeried to have experienced the darkside in the past ,when the mirror, ordarkside inversion of Yoda says " Yoda doesnt want to play eith us anymore. Hinting that he had dabbled in the past. Another short instance is during his exile on Dagobah when he attempted to learn electric judgement.
Idk why exactly but I like this channel more than most other star wars content creators. You stay mostly positive even though Disney has divided fans into pre Disney and Post Disney and I really really appreciate it. You don't really shit on Disney even though they deserve it and that's really classy.
Honestly screw class . People need to be angry about the state of star wars to get Disney to get itself together or we can kiss this franchise goodbye.
Great video! Analogous to the scenes in LOTR when Gandalf and then Galadriel turn down the One Ring... another facet of the Hero Story that George used to great effect. Then again, Yoda might have turned to the Dark Side, but with how many years to live and chasing the same dream of immortality that ultimately consume all Sith. One thing's for sure, turned to the Dark Side would have the grammar for Galactic Basic along with Yoda.
its like the hypotetical scenario where Gandalf has the power of the ring... he doesnt bring destruction but a scary perfect order (which at the end seems to be destructive to the people)
The dark side seems stronger to those who dwell in it because its actually weak, and in their weakness they think they see strength when in fact they are only fooling themselves. It doesn't mean they are not powerful, but just not as powerful as the light side, they are more limited even though they see themselves as free.
This is further illustration of how Jedi ideology is Buddhism. Yoda points out the CORRECT view on attachment: we need very little, and do not need obsessive attachment. The stated view that Jedi have to reject love is a bastardization of Buddhism. To love with attachment is jealousy and obsession, that's what should be avoided, not love itself.
That was an awesome interaction. I love the similarities between Yodas teachings and taoism, the inspiration is clear, especially when training with Luke on Dagobah. Dooku thinks he sees both sides of the coin, and freely chooses the one which resonates the most with him while arrogantly assuming Yoda is blind. Yoda realizes that to see the whole is to know that only seeing one side of the coin is just to see at all.
I need to read the books, this creates conflict within me. It makes me sure that not only does he have knowledge of the dark side of the force, I believe that he once (maybe like 700 years ago or something) was consumed by the emotions that he now says to avoid and he had to learn the hard way to let go, by experiencing loss and heartbreak himself and a lot of it. I think it took decades or maybe even longer for him to realise that the dark side of the force wasn't the answer.
considering that Mace was considered to be the only jedi of the time to control both light and dark, my guess is he could end up being a stabalizing balance as well (if he was able to evenly control both sides), making him both utterly humble and happy as he is with the light, but ruthless and downright destructive with the dark, if he was able to control it properly then id guess that only anakin, or even the Father would have to intervene (if need be)
Mace didn't weird the dark, he used the dark of others against them. He didn't touch the dark, but he used it, he didn't produce the dark within him, he let then do it, and then when it came forth he'd catch it and throw his own power and their power back. When he scarred Palpatine, it was Palpatines own force lightning bouncing back and forth between them, never touching mace , but left in a circuit always slamming into who produced it. Palpatine was a conductor of the dark, mace a neutral, so the dark would always seek the one who could channel it over and over. A darkside user can be attacked with the dark, but mace using VA pad was immune to it. I often wonder how long that circuit would have kept bouncing back on Palpatine if mace wasn't interrupted.
He has zero desire for power... how can the universe be threatened by someone that just wants to sit in his cave with God level power? Yoda may be the most powerful period, but his desire to nurture and teach doesn't transfer well to the selfish nature of the sith... if he becomes evil, he will already achieve what all sith want. He has no reason to become a terror to the universe see
This awesome story really made me think a lot, and especially reminded me of an interesting and somewhat similar plot in one of my favorite novel series. The protagonist of this plot is a loyal, lovely werewolf girl with an open-minded attitude towards life. Well, she is actually an ancient warrior who was reincarnated into a husky by mistake. This is an interesting plot point, and plays a key role in the plot. -- During an investigation into a planet hidden in a subspace bubble, she was attacked by a demon skilled in psychic attacks. Since this was a sudden attack, she was subdued before she could react. The way this demon confuses people is by pulling them into dreams, and then manipulating their thoughts (similar to Inception). The initial dream brought her back to her own home, which was actually her captain's home, and tried to frighten her with the liminal space of "the familiar home was empty, the captain, teammates and friends were not there." . However, she is a sweet husky and she trusts her friends. So, she didn't think much about "why everyone is not home" and immediately ran to the refrigerator. To her delight, there was a bowl of braised pork in the refrigerator. Her favorite joke with the captain's wife was to eat braised pork on the sly instead of waiting until the meal was officially served. And now, she was happily ready to feast. Perhaps irritated by her complacent attitude and the progress that did not meet expectations, the demon made its biggest mistake ever - of course it may also be that it knew that the biggest weakness of its illusion was its inability to simulate what actually existed. . (You can think of it this way: if she tried to eat the bowl of stew, it would be revealed that it was an illusion (no taste or even texture). The common flaw of many similar illusion scams is the same as Master Yoda's request for Count Dooku. Same: first create an actual, very simple thing to prove that you really have the ability to fulfill any wish. Of course, you can’t. There is everything in the illusion, but there is no real thing.) So, in the blink of an eye, she was thrown into nothingness. The husky girl scratched her face: "...Where is my food?" No one answered her questions until a treasure house full of countless treasures appeared in front of her. In one vision after another, she saw herself walking into the treasure house, taking possession of the infinite treasure, becoming the richest person in the world, and living in a palace made of gold. A voice whispered in her ear: [This is a real treasure, my inheritor, you have won my favor, you are qualified to get this ancient inheritance, come with me, I will tell you how to open this... …] "Did you take my food away?" The husky girl interrupted it without hesitation. [...That is nothing compared to the treasure you are about to unlock...] The husky girl grabbed the conversation again: "Don't interrupt, I'm asking you where is my food?" [...You have to open a...] The husky girl interrupted ruthlessly: "Did you take away my food?" The illusion of the treasure house suddenly collapsed, and the gold and jewels returned to the swirling fog in an instant. Then, something new emerged from the mist, and she saw a throne high above. She was wearing a golden robe, a golden crown on her head, and holding the emperor's scepter in her hand. Countless heroes, ministers and generals will kneel at her feet. The voice sounded again: [Supreme Power! You will become the highest ruler in this world, and your throne will be bigger than...] "So where's my stew?" [...I mean you will become the emperor...] “Where the hell is my stew!” The throne collapsed and was replaced by a glorious battlefield. The tone of the voice was already a bit hysterical: [Power! Unlimited power! You will be invincible! The whole world cannot compare with...] "I still want my stew. Do you know how rare it is to get the chance to eat it secretly when the landlady is not at home?" [Immortality! I can make you immortal! ] "I still want the stew." [Knowledge! All the knowledge in this world! I have knowledge you cannot imagine! ] "I've graduated from Peking University four times, why are you asking me to take the exam again - I want stew!" [Past, future, present! I will give you the power to predict the future, I will let you modify your destiny at will, I will let you...] "Just blow it, quantum collapse determines that fate is non-repeatable and inoperable. Where did you hide my stew?" [God’s authority! You can even become a god! ] "I know God, and she didn't get the year-end bonus this year - can you let me finish the stew first and then we can discuss it?" (The gods in this novel are the ultimate forerunner civilization that has progressed to the highest level of achievement. They bear the responsibility of maintaining the order of the multiverse and guarding the prosperity and progress of civilized races. They are a group of humane and materialistic all-benevolent gods.) ………… This meaningless conversation continued for a while, and finally there was complete silence in the emptiness and chaos. The mysterious voice seemed to accumulate in the silence, and finally broke out completely. She heard a thunderous voice coming from her head: [That's enough! You stupid ignorant mortal! I will tear your soul directly to pieces! ] The devil finally revealed his true form, a Cthulhu-type indescribable monster in short. In fact, this demon has no physical attack power, it still wants to use mental attacks to take her body. The husky girl immediately thought that she needed a self-defense weapon. With a clear mind that transcended the limits of the illusion, she took out a brick and introduced it to the demon's face. In the subsequent plot, when she told her temporary companions how to deal with the demon's dream attack, the demon roared and cursed her for "having no idea what she was dealing with." “Cut the crap or make that bowl of stew a real thing.” The demon screamed and then stopped talking. "As expected, you can't. Who were you fooling?"
The rose thing is even more interesting. It really reminds me of zen masters who use such technique to disrupt the way of their opponents thinking. Rose is right out of the scheme that Dooku suggests since it cannot be truly estimated. Values, on the other hand, not only are estimated, but can be owned. Riches or knowledge are no different - you have some, you desire more, and thus you fall in an illusion.
I'm glad someone else caught onto the importance of the rose. Myself I was considering how the rose symbolizes love and passion, and found it interesting that that's what Yoda asked for, suggesting that if he has any desires, it would be love and passion. I also found it funny that instead of just admitting he couldn't use the Dark Side to make Yoda a rose he just gets mad and tells him to want something else. Rather unbecoming of a Count...
@@AmbrosiaDreamWeaver the rose could also simply symbolize natural beauty, finding it in the world as its originally made and thus being content with simplicity. That was my thought on the rose symbolism
I wonder if Yoda's species are similar to Star Trek's Vulcans. They are incredibly strong and possibly very cruel, but they have cast that part of them aside to strive for a life of wisdom and peace. To this idea, we see that Yoda is calm and even, until angered, then he is a powerhouse, only to take some effort to calm himself and return to the typical Yoda that we know.
If Yoda had the discipline to fully rage out on the dark side for the sake of a goal, as in destroying Palpatine before any bad things happened would be ok. From my understanding of SWS it seems the dark side "rage out" is best used as a "finisher" move. If Yoda would have wielded that much power I don't see why he would not use it to get rid of Palps before anything happened. The only thing I can think of is if Yoda knows he would not be able to withstand further temptation of it.
would love to see a dark side yoda vs darth sidious, imagine if Yoda did turn to the dark side when fighting against Sidious in Episode 3 after losing the jedi and getting beat. Yoda gives in to Sidious tauntings then yoda snaps and goes all dark side no holding back.
Yoda remaining in the dark side, would tip the scale so much to the dark side. That no balance would ever come to be. He would go on, untill yoda was the only force sensitive alive.
Has this man ever considered opening a private school for this to teach the lore and teach Saber techniques? I find that he is uniquely suited to this task to carry on the message that starwars tries to teach, and while none of us will be lifting objects with our minds I find that the philosophy of the jedi and the sith have the potential to mold a brighter and kinder way of thinking if we perhaps were all a little more like a jedi
Maybe Yodas species is immune to corruption of the force. So they can master "balance by nature" and ignore either side, but Yoda went the path to choose and teach light.
Dont know but I see it more like he is actually NOT fully immune to corruption (even if their species may be naturally inclined to the light side), and thats why he cant simply use it as a tool for his goal "whenever he wants". He may tap in and out when its only a few seconds. But if he were to start using it for prolonged time it could start to gradually corrupt maybe without even realizing, not be something you can just instantly tap out of anymore, and eventually taking things way too far to reach ones goals, just like real life extremists. The darkside could maybe be (vaguely) compared to a drug, that you can get addicted to, but are unlikely to catch addiction if you only touched it once. Once you start using it over time that addiction becomes way more likely and stronger
Theoretically Rey touched the Dark Side too, as did Asoka. Asoka chose the path of the Grey and left the Jedi Order. The Asoka series will be an interesting one.
To build on your note of: Yoda could have possible stopped order 66, Sidious and saved his Jedi family if he had tapped into the dark side, but at what cost? Interestingly, I wonder if we could go another level deeper to the selflessness of the Jedi and specifically of Yoda. At what cost, you ask? Perhaps sacrificing yourself to the dark side would have been the ultimate cost to save the order and stop the empire before it even began. Like taking a bullet, so to speak. Perhaps Yoda could have weighed the potential benefits of losing himself, to save others. But as I write this I'm realizing that was Anakin's dilemma that ultimately turned him to the dark, paying the ultimate cost and not succeeding in saving anyone. Inevitably causing far more harm to the ones he loved. Interesting thoughts, these are.
Yes, Yoda might've saved many Jedi (and possibly save them from extinction), but even he may reach a point of no return when using the dark side for too long. If that happens, all of his work, his teachings, philosophy, and even the Jedi he saved, would all be in vain. As Obi Wan wans said: "now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy".
Its a cool moment. Yoda gives in, easily almost kills him but spares his life because the dark side basically bored him. He's seen almost all there is to know of the light and doesn't need its power
I dont think its boredom, but an understanding that actually making it a guidance force in your life is dangerous, especially for someone as powerful as him. Even if one doesnt start outright evil, one may begin to justify more and more extreme and cruel measures to reach ones goals, naturally turning evil and maybe even worse than what youre fighting against over time. He also knows the dark side brings mainly suffering and will actually be more content in life staying on the light side, even if outward the darkside may bring more power
Also if the jedi turn to the darkside they are no longer jedi, it goes against what they fundamentally are and stand for, and he is supposed to be an ambassador for them
Yoda's rebuttals to Dooku's enticements are very philosophical. Not just Buddahism (it is not the "not having" that pains you, but the desiring), but also Stoicism (death is unavoidable--accept reality and live the best life you can until it is over). The Dark side just seems so juvenile sometimes...
What probably made Yoda so dangerous is that his had no desire and that the things he could ask for would break the universe. So he would just be evil to be evil and nothing more.
Just saying, but if you go deep into lore, this IS NOT the first time he's dipped his toes into the dark side. During the clone wars he actually ended up on degobah, where he not only used it, but met a dark copy of himself in the same forest Luke did.
I love how if Yoda ever turned to the Dark Side for more than a few seconds, he could casually overpower the culmination of a 1000 years of the Rule of Two.
There's no way he would have wanted to still save them... But yes he should have turned because if he was brought back he'd have even a better understanding. Maybe an avatar of the force instead of just the light
The situation of Yoda refusing to turn to the dark side kinda reminds me of how Batman refuses to kill the Joker The Joker kills God knows how many people all the time but Batman still doesn’t kill him because he won’t give in to his lust for vengeance and become worse than the criminals of Gotham Yoda knows that people will die if he remains so staunchly in the light but he also knows that using the dark side in such a crucial turning point in time would’ve cost him everything even if it was for a noble reason
I have a theory....yodas race resides behind the unknown area in space they have the terror on their front doors so they don't fall for the dark side their affection for the light sight protects them from horrors thats also the reason there just 3 from his race in known canon and through legends just a hand full more as its just possible for the strongest in the dark side to pass the unkown area
This shows Yodas's flaw as a grandmaster; he has everything, so he can't understand those who have nothing. He ignores the arrogance of the Jedi council and the corruption of the republic because it doesn't affect him directly.
Yoda turns to the Dark Side... ""I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of virgins suddenly cried out in terror. I fear something terrible has happened." 😆😉
Very interesting! This almost gives the same vibe from LOTR Fellowship of the Ring, when Galadriel talks with Frodo at night and feels tempted by the power of the ring, manifesting a glimpse of her darker side.
I think the main reason that yoda's species is so well armored against the dark side is their long lives and high force aptitude. They have centuries to learn about themselves and what it means to be a long life species. Yoda accepts the fact that he cannot save everyone because not everyone can have long life and civilizations do not exist forever. He knows that because of his long life he will experience many things outside of his control and lose many things that are precious to him because those things do not have the capability to exist longer than him. The dark side doesn't have the ability to stop this, as nothing does, so he doesn't need the dark side as it cannot offer him any power that he doesn't already possess, it would just make him angry and cause him to lash out with all his power at a galaxy that doesn't deserve his wrath. In this case I don't think the dark side actually gives anyone power they don't already possess, it just makes it easier for them to unleash it in an uncontrolled way more quickly than the person could learn to use their full power through practice and self control. But I think that in that same line of thinking, Yoda was also curious as to why so many Jedi could fall to the dark side because he no longer has the perspective of a species with a shorter life span. A shorter lived species falls to the darkside more easily because they desire the power it grants and wants to use it to extend their own lives and provide them with the things they want more easily rather than needing to work so hard for it for so long because their lives are short. They don't want to work their entire lives to earn something and only be able to enjoy it in their retirement years and old age, and yoda has a hard time seeing that I think. It's difficult to ask someone to see your perspective of working for things slowly when you have the natural advantage of long life so that even if it takes you 40 years to get something, it's not so long for your total life span and once you have it you can enjoy it for longer.
“Take it for safety, I dare not. Use this ring I would, do good I wish. But through Yoda, to terrible and great the power would be. Imagine it…do not!”
man i would have loved if dooku actually went back to the temple in peace and asked yoda to once again mentor him, that wouldve been really cool and wouldve opened up huge new possibilities for further development of yodas story

Yoda tapping into the Dark Side for just a few seconds had Dooku fully convinced that the entire Universe was in danger…
Dooku thought Yoda might find release or content in the dark side.
But I think instead he became impatient and crazed. 😈
Dark Yoda: “Give me my..Rose!!”
Shook Dooku: “Shhhht you can have it! Say less, I got yo Rose in my pocket right now😰😨!”
Sheeeeeeeeit boy. Here's your damn rose.
😂
Dooku thought he had a brilliant plan.....
Until he realized that a darkside Yoda would literally be an uncontrollable and nearly unstoppable monster I mean just imagine what dooku felt for him to instantly be in complete fear for his life
I'm pretty sure even palp felt it and got terrified.
I know I’m a year late, but with 900 years of complete force knowledge; plus his knowledge from the forbidden archives. He would be unstoppable.
Well when you hav 900 years to do so i guess that helps 😂😂
I like that yoda offered to allow dooku to come back. Dooku isn’t that bad of a guy, he was pretty much deceived. So it was nice to see that
Dooku was a bad guy lol he committed lots of atrocities. He was deceived and he started with good reasons, but the dark side twisted him
@user-lu6st2ls4j you clearly haven't read the books he was tricked and Deceived but I'm not gonna argue with a child who thinks hes right?

Had Yoda turned to the dark side when Order 66 was unleashed, we would have seen what Sauron in LOTR desired to become. But not just endless master of the world, but that of the galaxy.
That he SO far exceeded even Sidious at his most powerful in the dark.....yikes. Dooku was not a man to fear generally anything either.
It would be a marvelous sight to see.
I don't think Yoda had it in him to turn unless another maybe a brother or cousin probably
Or they just don't
Unless he was really done wrong and chose the Darksiders to help him
@@avarycepierce6296 funny to think that all darksiders use their full power, while Yoda barely taps into his power because of the jedi code, his trust in the force to not go ape shit against sidious is far beyond me.
The saddest thing is, of course, Yoda assures him that he will be there to catch him when he falls, if only he would let him. Just a caring father, emploring a wayward son to return.
Bilbo baggins! Do not take me for some conjurer of cheap tricks! I am not trying to rob you, I am trying to help you.
Reminds me of the parable that Jesus mentions in the Bible of the Prodigal Son❤
That’s reason why Yoda and Dark Rendezvous is one my favorite clone wars novel, great scene between Yoda and Dooku
Imagine if Yoda trained Anakin from birth
@@robpolaris7272Well he trained Luke. Close enough. Although not from birth. But apparently 15 minutes of training & he was stronger than Vader 🤣
@@ModernDayRenaissanceMan
Luke was never stronger than Vader as of the OT.
Yoda’s greatest power is his wisdom. He finds happiness in simple things. Something many could learn from.
Dark Yoda sounds genuinely terrifying!!
I would name him "Darth Yhœdu".
i am terryfying
@@underworlds2794 , no, just terry.
Gray Jedi don’t exist. That’s a step towards the light.
Grey Jedi's rule. 🤣🤣
I think it is that he focused his hate in that moment that did this.
Grogu
True Greys look at the force in the even harder Third path the path to the Father where Jedi live in the light and are blinded by the Dark the Sith live in solitary loneliness within the darkness and skitter away from the light. Grey Je'daii are those who stand between embracing both but also commanding both while trying to maintain a precarious balance between Order and Chaos and follow the Father in his true mastery of the force.
Yoda: "Can the dark side give me a rose?"
Dooku: "No😭😭"
Palpatine: "Have you ever heard of the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise?"
The darker part of the darkside is greed remember the Darkside user who could devour worlds? His greed was Hunger.
That... sounds exactly like politics.
Yoda's knowledge of the force is amazing and this high lights this fully
Yoda was extremely strong with the force but a horrible leader.
Yoda was "blinded by the Light", one might say.
At least Yoda acknowledges a that the Dark Side can offer power and actually listens to Dooku instead of just saying that only the Light Side is always right and that Dooku was a fool for following the path of the Sith.

You can see Sideous In fear for a glimpse moment when Yoda counter Counter force lighting. He almost go dark side.
Yoooo the thought of a Dark Yoda is almost terrifying
"Give me my rose" chills, bro chills.
Dooku: yes sir you can have the whole set please forgive me
Give me my rose and "we wished to live forever and the doctor assured that we would" are two of my favorite lines now. (the later is from doctor who fury of the time lord, where the doctor breaks his rules and gives the villens fates worse than deathh)
"Mmmmm. ironic, it is. The Dark Side, you say, keeps you safe. But if turn to the Dark Side, I do, then safe you will not be. Heeeheeeheeee"

Dooku: Join the Dark Side, Yoda.
Yoda: Careful what you wish for, you should be.
If Yoda was truly to become a Sith, none could oppose him. He would be the most powerful Sith to ever live, and the most terrifying being in the universe. His power in the light and dark would be limitless. Sidious would cower and bow to Yoda is sheer terror.
Even after everything Yoda remained Dooku's teacher.
Yeah the exchange between Yoda n Dooku mentioned in this video would've made an incredibly interesting scene in the old Clone Wars series. Shame that we'll never get it.
When Dooku thought it was a good idea to argue with a 900 year old dude. Multiple lifetimes, can't even fathom how many imaginary shower arguments Yoda had with himself.

dooku: "hey you'll never believe this, I turned Yoda to the dark side!"
palpatine: "you did WHAT?!"
*senate chamber door breaks down, Palpatine screams like a scared child as Yoda comes through relentlessly slicing through the senate and the redrobes*
And at that moment Palpatine somewhere in the galaxy shat himself and looked around
He have a glimpse of fear in his face when Yoda tap into the dark side at their final battle.
Sidious: "Okay, what the hell am I sensing? Is that Darth Tyranus? Is that _me!?!_ IS THAT ME _STRONGER_ THAN ME!?! I'LL F*CKING KILL ME!!!"
I love that music you added. Adds real suspenseful anticipation to this Jedi conversation
Music is just genius
This is the grandest display of Yodas wisdom, using the Darkside itself to show Dooku how inferior it is
Never has anyone in the history of time said "Give me my rose" and been so deadly gangster about it 😂

One thing's for sure, turned to the Dark Side would have the grammar for Galactic Basic along with Yoda.
its like the hypotetical scenario where Gandalf has the power of the ring... he doesnt bring destruction but a scary perfect order (which at the end seems to be destructive to the people)
Dark Side Yoda is an SMT antagonist
I can think of nothing more awesome and silly than Yoda dipping into the darkside only to demand Dooku give him a rose
Yoda gone to the dark side would have been 100% unstoppable
Sith Yoda is nightmare fuel
considering that Mace was considered to be the only jedi of the time to control both light and dark, my guess is he could end up being a stabalizing balance as well (if he was able to evenly control both sides), making him both utterly humble and happy as he is with the light, but ruthless and downright destructive with the dark, if he was able to control it properly then id guess that only anakin, or even the Father would have to intervene (if need be)
Mace didn't weird the dark, he used the dark of others against them.
I often wonder how long that circuit would have kept bouncing back on Palpatine if mace wasn't interrupted.
but mace did use his inner darkness too in vaapad as i recall @@beentheredonethat5908
--
During an investigation into a planet hidden in a subspace bubble, she was attacked by a demon skilled in psychic attacks.
There is everything in the illusion, but there is no real thing.)
So, in the blink of an eye, she was thrown into nothingness.
The husky girl scratched her face: "...Where is my food?"
No one answered her questions until a treasure house full of countless treasures appeared in front of her.
"Did you take my food away?"
The husky girl interrupted it without hesitation.
[...That is nothing compared to the treasure you are about to unlock...]
The husky girl grabbed the conversation again: "Don't interrupt, I'm asking you where is my food?"
[...You have to open a...]
The husky girl interrupted ruthlessly: "Did you take away my food?"
The illusion of the treasure house suddenly collapsed, and the gold and jewels returned to the swirling fog in an instant. Then, something new emerged from the mist, and she saw a throne high above. She was wearing a golden robe, a golden crown on her head, and holding the emperor's scepter in her hand. Countless heroes, ministers and generals will kneel at her feet.
The voice sounded again: [Supreme Power! You will become the highest ruler in this world, and your throne will be bigger than...]
"So where's my stew?"
[...I mean you will become the emperor...]
“Where the hell is my stew!”
The throne collapsed and was replaced by a glorious battlefield. The tone of the voice was already a bit hysterical: [Power! Unlimited power! You will be invincible! The whole world cannot compare with...]
"I still want my stew. Do you know how rare it is to get the chance to eat it secretly when the landlady is not at home?"
[Immortality! I can make you immortal! ]
"I still want the stew."
[Knowledge! All the knowledge in this world! I have knowledge you cannot imagine! ]
"I've graduated from Peking University four times, why are you asking me to take the exam again - I want stew!"
[Past, future, present! I will give you the power to predict the future, I will let you modify your destiny at will, I will let you...]
"Just blow it, quantum collapse determines that fate is non-repeatable and inoperable. Where did you hide my stew?"
[God’s authority! You can even become a god! ]
"I know God, and she didn't get the year-end bonus this year - can you let me finish the stew first and then we can discuss it?"
(The gods in this novel are the ultimate forerunner civilization that has progressed to the highest level of achievement. They bear the responsibility of maintaining the order of the multiverse and guarding the prosperity and progress of civilized races. They are a group of humane and materialistic all-benevolent gods.)
…………
This meaningless conversation continued for a while, and finally there was complete silence in the emptiness and chaos. The mysterious voice seemed to accumulate in the silence, and finally broke out completely. She heard a thunderous voice coming from her head:
[That's enough! You stupid ignorant mortal! I will tear your soul directly to pieces! ]
The devil finally revealed his true form, a Cthulhu-type indescribable monster in short. In fact, this demon has no physical attack power, it still wants to use mental attacks to take her body.
The husky girl immediately thought that she needed a self-defense weapon. With a clear mind that transcended the limits of the illusion, she took out a brick and introduced it to the demon's face.
In the subsequent plot, when she told her temporary companions how to deal with the demon's dream attack, the demon roared and cursed her for "having no idea what she was dealing with."
“Cut the crap or make that bowl of stew a real thing.”
The demon screamed and then stopped talking.
Do you want friends...lovers...the dark side can COMPEL those things from people
Frienship and love's real power come when it is given freely
I would like for Yoda to have this philosophical discussion about the dark and the light with Kreia.
would love to see a dark side yoda vs darth sidious, imagine if Yoda did turn to the dark side when fighting against Sidious in Episode 3 after losing the jedi and getting beat. Yoda gives in to Sidious tauntings then yoda snaps and goes all dark side no holding back.
Yoda remaining in the dark side, would tip the scale so much to the dark side. That no balance would ever come to be. He would go on, untill yoda was the only force sensitive alive.
That shit gave me chills that little gremlin would wreck everything
Even better is if he utilized both the light and dark!! How crazy powerful would he become!!
The Dark side just seems so juvenile sometimes...
the light will always welcome you back, the darkness will always consume you
I've always felt Yoda was way stronger than he ever actually displays.
Thats why Yoda is a master
What probably made Yoda so dangerous is that his had no desire and that the things he could ask for would break the universe. So he would just be evil to be evil and nothing more.
Just saying, but if you go deep into lore, this IS NOT the first time he's dipped his toes into the dark side. During the clone wars he actually ended up on degobah, where he not only used it, but met a dark copy of himself in the same forest Luke did.
I love how if Yoda ever turned to the Dark Side for more than a few seconds, he could casually overpower the culmination of a 1000 years of the Rule of Two.
Yoda turning to the darkside to save the jedi order would of ended up being the destruction of the order and Yoda knew this
There's no way he would have wanted to still save them... But yes he should have turned because if he was brought back he'd have even a better understanding. Maybe an avatar of the force instead of just the light
yoda always tries to find the balance in the force
Yoda teaching us life lessons on here
For yoda’s counter argument, he casually flexes on count dooku then says he no greater than him, then swaps team with no problem, frickin giga chad
That thumbnail will be in my nightmares for years
The situation of Yoda refusing to turn to the dark side kinda reminds me of how Batman refuses to kill the Joker
The Joker kills God knows how many people all the time but Batman still doesn’t kill him because he won’t give in to his lust for vengeance and become worse than the criminals of Gotham
Yoda knows that people will die if he remains so staunchly in the light but he also knows that using the dark side in such a crucial turning point in time would’ve cost him everything even if it was for a noble reason
Your videos are so good keep doing them
Thank you! Will do!
I fear something terrible has happened."
😆😉
That was genius and wise.
Yoda continues to be a great influence.
Absolutely love this video, been a Star Wars fan since the young one never really truly got into it as what I was when I was younger.
This was a video truly well done you have a new subscriber in me and I'm glad RUclips recommended this video.

The proper term is "youngling"
@@thebatman6201 I was talking about myself and when I was a young one. If I was talking about Star Wars I would have said youngling.🤔
But thanks🤙🇨🇦🥴
