Gritty, mildly industrial and perfectly retro sounding, this voice of hard pauses and clipped words and phrases is perfect for an atomic age robot, haha. Love it. My favorite Fallout robots. I’d rather have robots like this than those currently popular.

I unlocked the iron fist perk and upgraded my strength to 10. And so I was walking, completely disarmed and turned a corner just to get shot right in the face with a random laser so I panicked and punched the protectron in the face, and litterally knocked it's head off, it just went flying in slo motion...I guess iron fist works.
There's a mod for it. Unfortunately it limits dialouge options to the point you can't make it follow you if he isn't alrdy your companion. Made a lot of my caravan Protectrons have this voice
Protectrons in USS Constitution quest sound more patriotic than humans IRL. My favorite thing is when you arrive at ship's location, robots immediately identify Sole Survivor as a pre-war member of US military serving in 108th Infantry Regiment.
With how choppy the voice is you can take these clips and make a mod with a protectron companion with an actual personality and story and it sound “normal”.
I used to be confused as to what the "personality modes" in the activation terminals actually did, but apparently it actually changes their hostility levels, i.e. police personality means they will attack people with unholstered weapons that have fired shots, medical responder personality attacks anyone that has attacked them first, construction personality attacks people without helmets (lol). Cool stuff.
I don't know why but I love seeing these guys around the wasteland and just happen to thought they were a threat till I vatted them and they had the word "protect" in them so I give it a try and got up close, they also had an option for them to talk. *Press* *PROTECT AND SERVE.*
This is awesome! Only wish it was broken down into marked categories like "Greetings", "Combat" and "Trading", just in case anyone wanted to use it to make a film
Why can't real life robots be like the ones in fallout? I don't want a stupid pair of arms that makes food for you or a dumb cleaning robot that looks like a Frisbee.
I'm rather disappointed that there is no protectron voice module nor a robobrain voice module. I'm also kinda disappointed that there is no eyebot option in the robot work bench.
I didn't know beforehand, but apparently Wes Johnson did the voices for the Protectrons, both in this game and in Fallout 3. I assume he also voiced FISTO (lmao, probably not)
weird that there's dialogue for robots and Super Mutants that suggest them reacting to theft and protecting places and giving warnings rather than simply attacking outright like they do. too bad that at least the trespassing dialogue wasn't implemented on the robots and the Super Mutants almost certainly don't use theft or trespassing dialogue.
To this day I regret needing to use a mod in order to have Automatrons that sound like Protectrons, who are sadly my favorite robots. You'd think that they'd want as much Wes Johnson as they could get, or at least have all the robot voices available instead of two of them and two unique Automatron voices, one just being Ada's voice, making it awkward for Ada... aaaaand of course _beeps and clicks..._ because Star Wars I guess...
Protecrons are so damn cute. They are programed to pretend to be dangerous, but in fact they look cute and clumsy :D
