Modded for weight savings they are just fantastic for so many types of riding. Only issues I've had is eating tires and a bum dash display that caused a myriad of issues but was an easy fix once diagnosed.
Hi COP, You certainly have a great Adventure Bike that loves eating tyres, and throwing huge Roost's at any one who is game enough to get behind that back wheel. LOL.

I've gone for less aggro tires in the hopes of stretching the life (got 10k out of a big block before it shredded) but my sidewalls keep getting mangled. Lol the quest continues.

Excellent look at Alastair’s 1090. I also appreciate Kate’s the look at the GL Mohave bags on the big bike. I picked up a 2018 KTM Super Adventure R so I’m soaking up reviews of the large KTM ADV bikes to see what people have run on them. Also liked the thoughts from Alastair on the T-7. I’d like a lower tech mid sized ADV bike if the 1290 SAR and I don’t gel.

Was surprised with the soft compound he was running and his Highway traveling. But would those tyres be like 70-30 something like that? They look almost full knobs. Where I've got full knobs 10-90 on the crf300l and concerned with wearing the tyres out. But good to see he's running them and 7000kms is really good. Where was the mountain location. 30 min vlog was good length. Cheers Pete
Hi JW, Yes the tyres are more dirt orientated. The joy of tyres is just try different combinations for your self and hopefully you will find the right set that suits your riding style. The location was near Mt Korong in central Victoria. Thanks for watching the vid. regards FPPete.

Great review. Just completed a group tour where there were about 6 Tenere T7. I noticed they all had the same tyres. Motoz Rallz front, Motoz Adventure or the Rallz on the rear.
I love how my bike has so much of what someone Alistair has done to his. Feels like I did something right lol. I love the tusk high guard. Makes it look so damn aggressive. Nice outfitting of the bike. Amazing riding.
Awesome bike, I love big bikes for the long hauls and the challenge off road. Only thing that drew me to the GS was it never falls flat with the boxer engine, I imagine this one is a lump to pick up! Of course there’s a compromise there when it comes to riding through ruts etc. Always loved the big KTMs though and the sheer power they make. Awesome Pete and thanks Alistair! One day we will ride together, give the big girls a run!
That’s a big-fast motorbike. A bit too much for me. I’m a huge fan of Motoz tires, I’m thinking Alistair’s on to an interesting combo, front/rear selection. Great interview and solid video, background was gorgeous. 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
@@adventuristtv I just came off a Pan America for a 1290 SAR. Taking it in today to my local non KTM dealer to get different tires on it, a bit over 4K on the stock (I’m guessing)TKC 80’s and they look pretty torn apart. The dealer said they had some MotoZ tires in stock for it, I’ll see how it goes.
Ripper review Pete. KTM and all brands I guess, have the great ability to sell you almost the bike you need. Then they bring out a catalogue with all the bits you will need to complete it. (KTM power parts catalogue) Adventure bike without a bash plate, barkbusters, language rack for example. WTF. Foot pegs! Don't get me started on bloody foot pegs. XR 50 peg is almost wider than the standard 1290 pegs. With rubber tops to give you extra slip. But the upgraded Rally pegs will only cost you 270 bucks. Aaahhhhhh! Why the freak they aren't fitted in the first place. Also the electronics package. Quickshifter, hill brake assist etc that they can switch on in a nano second for $1500 Rant over All said. I still love my KTM. 😁 Well set up Alistair. And you handle the big girl like a champion. 👍

I’m running the exact same tyre combo on a 1290R and I find they are quite noisy on the road, but the traction off-road is great.

I love my 1090R. I'll never outride that bike. Much better two-up compared to the T700 or 890R.
