Giving tainted medicine intentionally as a doctor like this should be a death penalty offense. I’m sick of living in a world where the powerful and affluent aren’t held to a higher regard.

Some states have laws governing this crime willful and intent to harm patients...however the actual community seems to have a problem reporting them...they are afraid if they do they will be fired...kinda like working around someone who spies for the ISI etc if you fear them already you know there's a network of protection so big - and once again if it's not your child, mother, father or family you just let them die. Time to think hard about that very hard.

ETA: I did not recall correctly. The doctor died in June. There were several other incidents before the 18 year old's surgery went wrong on Aug. 24. None of the patients harmed were being cared for by the accused doctor at the time they went down. He had his own stash of non-compromised IV bags so as not to arouse suspicion on himself. Guess he didn't know about the cameras in the med room! Despicable. Evil.

My neuro-surgeon messed up my surgery and disabled me for life & lied about everything so I got no compensation & am forced to live a life of pain. The surgeon laughed when he saw the X-rays with the damage he did, then lied about the damage, saying I would be ok. He said that he nicked my nerve but it was nothing. He said I’d heal and I’d be ok. I had no idea he lied until it was too late. He sent me to therapy for 7 years, well past the statutes of limitations, then just wrote me off. My doctor didn’t understand why I was in so much pain even after my surgery, so he ordered another MRI. That’s when we found that the Brito surgeon cut my nerve, then screwed another nerve under the plate he put in my neck when he took my disc out.
I called lawyers who said it’s past the statutes of limitations so I can get compensated. A group of lawyers also sympathized with me and said that it’s hard to sue for malpractice because doctors work with lawyers. (They’re in cahoots) Due to this damage, I am now disabled for life and lost 2 jobs. I’m taking care of my disabled adult son and am now struggling to make ends meet.
I don’t understand why the statutes of limitations is only 2 years, especially in cases like mine, where the doctor strings you along then just dumps you. There’s nothing I can do since I didn’t know I was supposed to get a lawyer as soon as this happened. I just listened to my doctor, who said I’d be alright. My biggest mistake in life!

As it stands, most attention is put on keeping people from accessing narcotics. If that doctor knew that every time he took out a vial of bupivacaine, epi, lidocaine, or other similar drug it was recorded and time stamped, he likely would never have attempted this. In most units at hospitals, drugs are kept in locked machines, and you have to sign in with your ID and code to access them. Therefore, every time you take a drug out, a record exists. But in stand alone facilities, that's not always the case. Likely this will change as a result of this situation. I hope so anyway.

The saddest part is the hospital really doesn't care as long as that doctor is making them money. I know because I wrote one doctor up sooo many times for violations over the years and they never did anything. Even when that said doctor did not wear a mask during Covid-19 and everyone else in the building wore N95's, he walked around maskless. He also entered isolation rooms with no PPE, so no gown, no mask, no gloves, no shoe covers, etc. The management would tell me they had to have a paper trail, so I was to write up every incident, but he is still working there as far as I know. I left.

Years ago a doctor sent me home from the emergency with a broken leg and compound ankle fracture. It was even visible on the x ray he did. But because I was not employed and was seen to not suffer any wage loss from his mistake I had no legal stance to sue his gross negligence. Even though he treated me terribly. It’s not strange to put some of your meds in the IV bag. It just means a slow drip of the dose will enter the bloodstream over time. It doesn’t mean he poisoned you, because he didn’t. You wouldn’t be here.
It’s really difficult to re-orient non-medical people to what is typical and normal. Also, common medications that keep people alive are not good when under- or over-dosed. Obviously! So this med the bad anesthesiologist used may have been the same thing that docs save lives with when a novel issue appears, like blood loss in a surgery and blood pressure drops. Idk what the bad anesthesia guy here used but it sounds like something that raised blood pressure. I can assure you the same agents save lives every day.

This surgical hospital should be closed down completely. They were totally negligent and careless. Again people it is all about money. In this country money is more important than lives.

Last I heard, it was shut down. I live in this city and work in a similar facility (no affiliation with this hospital group).

I had that surgery by a wonderful lady , dr Owens, she was at Tulane Medical Center . I hope she is well and still doing surgery bc people need competent professionals.

Super skeptical now about getting my spinal infusion done. We’re supposed to go into surgery feeling confident feeling that everything is going to be OK. We have put our trust in these physicians. So sorry

Well, we do have to trust people with all kinds of things that impact our lives tremendously. Sometimes they let us down. In medicine, certain acts or acts of omission can be fatal. The good news is that this kind of evil is very very rare. I've worked in medicine for over 25 years, and I've never come across a doctor who ever deliberately harmed anyone. I've dealt with some arrogant assholes to be sure, and some were less competent than others, but doctor serial killers are so very rare. Most people with this kind of earning power don't want to go to jail over a grudge even if they were sociopaths. There are some great, caring doctors out there. I hope you find one deserving of your trust.

Nabilone is a medication for your situation.
Talk about this and acknowledge this concern to yourself and your doctor. Be proactive and gain some confidence in the knowledge that millions of surgeries are successful every single day. Calm.
