iPad is not a competitive product to the Mac; it's an extension of Mac. The best way to use iPad within Apple eco system is to do light tasks while you're outside and complete it later when you get back to your workstation. I love to shoot wirelessly to my ipad and my clients love to pick up the ipad and do culling right on the spot. It's a more 'hands on' experience than a Macbook and of course it's lighter.
Yes I agree but this is a first for the iPad to actually have the fastest chipset in Apples lineup. When I was there they took time to really explain the intricacies of the M4 and the way they were describing it, I think the iPad will change sooner than later.

@@DwaipayanRC I think the Air will give you good performance at a more affordable price. The M4 iPad Pro is also good but I would say see if your budget is okay to go for the 512GB version. But either is going to do what you need it to
At the end it’s a decision everyone must make based on their own needs. A MacBook Pro will probably always have more room for even more performance, they do have 8 high performance cores now, and maybe with the M4 they’ll get 10 or 12, who knows? Bit than what are people doing with their devices and how much performance do they need? A lot of users will probably be more than fine with that configurations, others will need or want more power. The same is true with the software capabilities, both OS and apps. Some will be fine with iPad OS, which in itself is probably still the biggest limitation, others will have problems with them. But one thing really puzzles me, other than a marketing point of view - do we really need iPads to get thinner, or would a slightly thicker iPad with a slightly bigger battery and no camera bump for it to lay flat on the table even without a case not have been the better way? Honestly I’d have preferred that, but I’m not the one making these decisions 😉😂
Valid points. The M4 has 9 and 10 performance cores now. The 10 comes with the 1TB and 2TB configuration. Yes most people never really maximise their laptops or tablets but the same can be said for cars, etc. most people only use a percentage of that power for their needs the rest can be based on Vanity or just the desire to have the best. iPad OS has been limiting thus far, but I feel that may change this year. This iPad is too powerful not to maximise it. As I mentioned I think the thin aspect is more about what the future holds with this new type of chipset vs anything else. Call it the “halo” product to show consumers this is what we can do and that tech will bleed into other devices in the future
We need some material for chips and boards that don’t heat up, that would solve a lot of problems, which mainly come from the question about how to dissipate heat. But in all fairness I’m not aware of any such material, so it’s probably just wishful thinking 😂
iPad Air has USB-C whereas the Pro models (inc the old one) has Thunderbolt 4. How much of a difference does that make for when transferring images off an SD card or onto a SSD?
Here in Canada for the 11inch starts at 1,399 and 13inch at 1,799 very expensive .I still have the 12.9 inch Ipad pro m1 chip .Canadian money is worthless . Great video !
iPad Pro model has reference mode for color grading. Can also further calibrate in Reference mode advanced settings. And iPad Pro with M1 or at least M2 to present should have got desktop OS. So much wasted power as is.
@@isaiahortiz8940 to make a bigger impact on performance and power management Apple needed a chip to handle it hence the M4. The M3 would have been a minor bump
All of the WDDC AI features should run fine on M1 and up chips. There is no way the AI features are M4 specific since that will just alienate everyone on earth until maybe in 2 days when small % of people get M4 iPad Pro. As expected, I think WDDC will be overhyped on the AI features coming. GPT-4o (HER) announced today will run on any hardware, no one will care about the local AI stuff unless you are using the creative suit to do automatic content generation. All of the best AI stuff is still over the network since it is evolving SO FAST.
Yes the M4’s neural engine is more advanced but doesn’t mean the others won’t perform well. My hope is that it’s less cloud based and more on device AI
We need iPadOS for touch usability. As everyone should know, desktop OSs are not finger friendly. Look at the compromises Microsoft had to make in order to get Windows to work in the Surface Pro. It’s one reason (besides the high prices) why they’ve never sold well. I’d like to see more macOS features come to the iPad, even if it’s just to the bigger screen models, but not the macOS UI. It’s just a few weeks now, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Yes agree, but also to the point of Microsoft, I would say their marketing and distribution channels for the Surface products aren’t as streamlined as Apple’s. The balance of keeping vendors happy while creating their own products made for some odd decisions.
@@btonelli that’s true too. But I’ve seen many articles and videos over the years talking with gusty enthusiasm about those computers. But they sell in fairly small numbers in today’s standards for sales of these types of devices. I’m pretty sure that Apple has been playing with the full macOS on the new M series iPads since before they were released.
For which? They both sound good. The Pro feels like it has a wider soundstage and more depth even though it’s thinner. You can really feel the bass resonate in it. The Air feels a bit more neutral, still warm but not as big.
@@btonelli the iPad Pro 13’! That’s great to hear. I was a little worried with how the sound would turn out due to the thinness of the new iPad Pros and it was my only hesitation on getting it. 🙌🏻
Great that you mention the truth about the cameras. Other RUclipsrs make a huge deal out of it and in reality I believe nobody use the cameras in iPads. I have almost all generations and my kids also , and all the pictures are from their phones , not their iPads. Pretty sure Apple see the stats on their servers and realize nobody used the wide camera and thus get it pf it. Great call for Apple. But many want to make it a negative just to compliant about Apple.
Looks nice , seriously expensive & for most totally overkill. As for WWDC we’ve been here before where Apple are speculated to bring all these desktop features because of these chips being pointless without it & haven’t. I suspect this wwdc will be a disappointment again.

I'm very tempted to get the 11" for media consumption just for that beautiful display. Congrats on your channel, it's very pleasing to look at what you see.
Thanks for the kind words on the channel and the audio. Yeah sometimes I see that on my tv too when I play back but on iPhone it’s fine. Reading and consuming media on the M4 iPad is a joy to use. The display is awesome!
These are review units and normally come spec’d out. As far as those that can’t afford top end which is most of us, I recommend 512 Gab storage for both. The 9 core vs 10 core for the pro isn’t a big difference currently and for the Air it will bring down the price. Only go top storage if you are doing a lot of video and photo work and need the extra storage.
@@flowergatcha no prob. It’s tough because we will have viewers asking about how is the performance for top line and also mid tier. Unfortunately companies don’t have the bandwidth to provide so many versions. So usually we will have top spec for review in most cases.
Of course Apple doesn't to make MacOS available for the iPad because they want people to buy multiple devices. Bad for the consumer, good for the company.
Yeah definitely worth it. Depends on what you need it for. The Pro will give you the XDR display the Air won’t as the Air doesn’t have Pro Motion, also more cameras.

I bought the 256Gb. The one 1Tb and 2Tb are ridiculously expensive. Like 600 more for a few rams
Yes they are quite pricey
You reckon topaz will do one for iPad Pro with this version
I hope so. Don’t see why they wouldn’t.
Great video! Very informative, I loved when you explained the difference between M1, M2, M4. I want my iPad for music and using DJ for Mac and watch movies, so the Pro has 4 speakers the Air 13 inch has 2 speakers bummer. Don’t which way to go, still.
Thanks for watching and the for the kind words. Both sound really good still. If you can afford the Pro go for it! I think you will love the screen, size and power it has
As a photographer I'm looking forward to taking the iPad Pro in place of my MBP on my National Park tour next month. Thanks for the helpful review!
Will be a perfect tool for that. Thanks for watching.
You’re going to regret it lol
Great video dude
@@Arun_1423 thanks
iPad is not a competitive product to the Mac; it's an extension of Mac.
Do you think ipad air m2 will be good enough for video editing? i need to edit a veeeery long wedding video for my friend😆 and videos for my YT channel up to about 20 minutes long (mostly vlogs)
Should be more than fine. m2 is very powerful
Great Video. However I have one thing to ask which is for a person who had no ipad and want to buy one, so which one to get? M2 iPad Air or M2 iPad pro or M4 iPad pro?
Thanks. What do you plan on doing with the iPad? This makes it easier to recommend
@@btonelli Ok So I have no such heavy tasks to do in iPad to be honest. For now I would like to use it to watch videos on the go, notes taking and some basic sketching and few games which I heard is best to play on an ipad compared to iPhone.
I have iphone 15(non pro model), Macbook Pro M1Pro (14inch) and Apple TV4k so you can say I'm in the Apple ecosystem. I'm eager to use 120hz but its too much of cost lol.
@@DwaipayanRC I think the Air will give you good performance at a more affordable price. The M4 iPad Pro is also good but I would say see if your budget is okay to go for the 512GB version. But either is going to do what you need it to
@@btonelli thanks man. I'll see to it
Great video. When will FCP IPAD 2 be released ??
Thanks. They said late spring so hopefully we know more at WWDC
lumafusion 5 is coming out soon, thats a much better option than fcp
It makes no difference transferring images. You only see the difference when using a Thunderbolt SSD
@@btonelli thanks!
What band do you have on your ultra?
Sandmarc Titanium band
Information over performance PLEASE.
Not understanding.
Here in Canada for the 11inch starts at 1,399 and 13inch at 1,799 very expensive .I still have the 12.9 inch Ipad pro m1 chip .Canadian money is worthless . Great video !
Thanks for watching! Yes they are pricey and the M1 still is a fantastic machine
But the software is almost exactly the same as in my iPhone 😂. What’s the point??
Hopefully this changes for WWDC
@@btonelliIt didn’t 🥴
Here we have Ipad Pro m2 at the same price of Air m2!!!
What would you get?
Probably pro for the better display
iPad Pro model has reference mode for color grading. Can also further calibrate in Reference mode advanced settings. And iPad Pro with M1 or at least M2 to present should have got desktop OS. So much wasted power as is.
Yes the reference color option is nice to have. I wish we had more desktop options including software loading that would work with this.
Is the ipad air m2 good for playing game
Why did they put m2 not m3 maybe m3 Coming long way
@@isaiahortiz8940 to make a bigger impact on performance and power management Apple needed a chip to handle it hence the M4. The M3 would have been a minor bump
Yes can still play games but if you want the higher refresh rate for gaming, then need to go iPad Pro
I think if they give me SD card reader I'll be more than happy. Wish the Magic Keyboard gives us more ports like more USB-C and also SD card reader.
Yes agree. Was thinking that as well but that would probably increase the size of the Magic Keyboard I’m guessing
My hope is that it’s less cloud based and more on device AI
local AI is faster and more secured.
@@melgross I’m sure they have too. Sooner or later it’s inevitable they will do something like this
How are the speakers?! I’m big into consuming content and so being able to watch movies and shows is a big deal for me.
@@troysegebarth16 yeah I was pleasantly surprised too. After you messaged here I played the latest Megalopolis trailer to test it again
@@btonelli thank you!! Very helpful!
People love to complain for content haha
Looks nice , seriously expensive & for most totally overkill. As for WWDC we’ve been here before where Apple are speculated to bring all these desktop features because of these chips being pointless without it & haven’t. I suspect this wwdc will be a disappointment again.
Hmm I don’t know for this one. The M4 is such a big jump and what they were telling and not telling us has me thinking this will be a big shift for the iPad. I really hope they bring desktop features
Imagine if Apple allows dual boot for the iPad Pro!
That would be insane! Hopefully one day
I don’t think they will do dual boot but I think they will move in that direction at wwdc this year for iPad os.
You should be a movie star.
Too kind. Thank you 🙏
Thank you Bobby
Thanks for watching
Bro, audio is out of sync. Nice shirt BTW. Cheers 🎉
Which part on the audio? Syncing is the same on this as it is on other vids. Thanks on the shirt 👍
@@btonelli On my TV (LG C1 OLED) audio is slightly lagging. Just checked and on my iPhone is fine. Perhaps is my TV, my audio system, or the TV OS (web OS).
Sorry to bother you, but the audio on your video is perfect!
BTW, is it good the M4 iPad for reading compared to a Kindle or physical book?
I'm very tempted to get the 11" for media consumption just for that beautiful display.
Congrats on your channel, it's very pleasing to look at what you see.
Thanks for the kind words on the channel and the audio. Yeah sometimes I see that on my tv too when I play back but on iPhone it’s fine.
Reading and consuming media on the M4 iPad is a joy to use. The display is awesome!
iPad Pro M2 or iPad Air M2, the difference in price in my country is just 75 USD.
Tough one. Probably would go Pro
The iPad Air only has 2 speakers, not 4, but has 4 speaker grills
“Specked out” so your main audience is the super rich got it what about your average consumer
@@btonelli I see thanks for the reply explaining I appreciate it 👍
@@flowergatcha no prob.
Bad for the consumer, good for the company.
damn bro, that hair is magnificent.
Hahaha thanks
@@btonelli do you think getting an ipad pro m2 11” 128gb is worth it for $677 brand new?
Yeah definitely worth it. Depends on what you need it for. The Pro will give you the XDR display the Air won’t as the Air doesn’t have Pro Motion, also more cameras.
capture one iPad app :(
Not a fan of having to pay double the subscription
lol. No b Apple realized Qualcomm was going to beat them on Ai performance and had to push out this chip.
Haha Qualcomm not intel and AMd have been able match the M series chips. Don’t let a highly controlled event persuade you so easily. Hats off to Microsoft but let’s see what happens in WWDC.
nice but ridiculously expensive.
Understand. Hopefully an updated iPad OS and apps to take advantage of the new M4 will help justify the price more
