“Build an audience with social media”. An enormous task! You think POD takes time? has a learning curve? You’ll be spending a lot more time creating content, learning the sites and the different methods, than you will on your designs and website! You can’t be successful on social media OR POD with a casual effort! It’s actually a two person job as you will see with many of the POD RUclipsrs - they’re couples! Behind the scenes is a very skilled, experienced and talented designer/marketer/entrepreneur!
I actually do it all myself. You just need to post valuable content consistently over a long period of time..... It's really the only way IMO. Just posting photos of your shirts just doesn't work.

Another great video Juna - important information well presented. I have been doing POD since 2011 and I agree with all that you said. When I started I focused entirely on creating designs, learning to use graphic design tools and in reading the "forum" on the platform - because there wasn't much else on the internet. Focusing on topics ("niches") helps to clarify the mind and eliminates extraneous "shining objects". You become an expert in that topic and the ideas flow endlessly. My advice is always as you said - focus on creating great designs that people want to buy.

Hi Juna, I agree with you. POD is “free” to start but it takes time to get the desired results. Even for the businesses that require thousands or millions to start, it takes time to get profits. The problem is that POD is often presented as a get rich quick type of business which is not true. POD is a real and affordable opportunity to start with but, I think is not for everyone. There is a learning curve and you have to decide if POD is for you and enjoy the process. If not, look for another thing but be prepared to spend time and effort as well. And finally, don’t trust and give your money to anyone that promises you a get rich quick type of business.

When Chat GPT (free version) has been the most handy for me is when I ask it what colors or fonts would go with" x" graphic. You can also upload a .png of your design and ask what it thinks about it. I find this most useful for text spacing. And its polite about it as well :)

Great thoughts, Juna. You summarized very well what I've been hearing about the use of social media: Build and engage an audience first, then sprinkle in some merch ads sparingly. (And that's why I've given up on that approach for now. Maybe someday.) Thanks, Juna!

That is not a myth. That is a real thing. I will have to address that and maybe how to report them

Or you can choose to comepletely ignore the copycats. Why? Because reporting them takes of your priceless time... Robbing you from making new designs... Actually maybe your true fans audience can report the copycats for you. Or.. that's what I'm thinking, I hope this helps. 🍀🍀
And then again if someone got money from my design, I will be kind of glad that my design helps that person to put food on their table too. 😊😅 Still I don't like it when others steal designs, but people... What you gonna do, you can't really stop stealers from being jerks, can you?

Yes I do! But I don’t spend a lot on it. Maybe $20-$30 a day. It isn’t essential but it can boost sales

Thanks Juna, question for you. How long should I wait to delete my older designs that I don’t think are very good? Or should I leave them up forever?
If you are on Amazon and are trying to tier up I would remove them in a month. If you are on other POD sites with no tiers or time pressure I would leave it up for at least a year.

I use Pretty Merch and Merch Informer for Amazon but I just use the POD sites and searching for the others

I think it's possible but you will need to know the audience... it think it's more male than female... I haven't done it myself so I couldn't help too much
