    Hey there! Been following you for a while. Thanks again for your encouragement and for being real with what it takes to be successful. I'm beginning to get traction but it has taken 9 months of dedication and hard work. I've had no sale days and no view days. I am now getting multiple sales and hundreds of views. But I've had to grow a lot in my mindset. I've had to stick to my guns and keep going. Come what may.

      Allison! I am so proud of you for sticking with it! Our Etsy journeys wind up being more than just an Etsy journey… don’t they? We experienced self growth. We learn what we’re made of. We learn the value of sticking with something and being persistent and consistent. I can’t wait to hear about where the next nine months take you!

    Hi simply Shawna!! I am in love with your videos. You are my go to. It really makes sense that you were a teacher.coming from a family full of teachers and being slow mentally myself , it makes sense why I love your teaching style so much. You make everything digestible so I can better absorb all the mounds of info I’m needing to learn for alll this. I just appreciate you so much and I read another comment on another video going on about how much more transparent, relatable and concise you are with your tutorials and I just want to second that and say that is so dang true!!! I absolutely hate watching these kinds of videos from other RUclipsrs. It always ends in frustration and misguidance.. but then I found you and I no longer end one of these tutorials being more lost and irritated than I was to begin with. Now I can actually make some progress. Not that I’ve had any sales yet but at least the quality of what I’m doing has improved and that is what feels amazing and gives me confidence which has affected my productivity level and yeah, I’m just so excited to continue my journey with you.. it’s only been a couple weeks but I know I have struck Gold finding you!! But I was curious about the personalization niche and being able to do that with pro tidy from your Etsy shop.. have you discussed this anywhere and I’m just not finding it or do you have any recommendations or advice you can give? I’d really love to hear from you! Thanks so much. Oh And tell Tucker I said woof woof!!

I am not familiar with Pro Tidy but you might want to check out Hello Custom because that can help really automate the process! Shawna you bring the value EVERY TIME!!! Thank you!!! I will be re watching this later - when you say you continue to double down on a niche - do you double down on just those specific keywords - sun niches? So more specific or do you mean the bigger niche in general? So say it’s a teacher shirt - do you just make more teacher shirts or say you created a first grade teacher shirt and you gain traction do you double down on first grade teacher shirts? Sorry if this didn’t make sense

    Thank you for your fantastic videos, as always! I’m feeling a little down, not because I’ve made two sales this month, but because my total profit is only $1.53 after Etsy fees and paying my product partner. My shirt prices are already quite high, even with a 20% discount, making it tough to compete. I’m wondering if I’m missing something or if there’s a better way to approach this. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi shana, I listen to Bailey because I have a PNG shop as well as a pod shop and she mentions and recommends that you don't run ads until you've got multiples of similar designs because then someone might come in and buy more than one. But if you've only got wine in a certain niche then it definitely doesn't work to run ads. I thought that was really good advice. So now I'm more careful about my ad spend and about bulk listing in a certain niche so that I come out of the gate with 20 or so designs that match each other or have similar customers

    • @shawnalynn2083

    Shawne you are so awesome. You make me feel like I can do this when every day I want to quit and I literally started a few weeks ago. It would help if I just got one sale. I love your videos but my shop is not POD, I'm hoping your tricks and tips still apply to non-POD shops. I've researched my product and there is demand for it. I do have one question. I started a Facebook page to help my etsy shop. How important is that and should I be spending money on facebook ads to support my Etsy shop?

    • @shawnalynn2083
      @shawnalynn2083  Месяц назад

      Hey there, Debra! So I have grown my POD shop without a Facebook page! I think it’s a great additional strategy, but I wouldn’t start running Facebook ads to these products unless they start getting a little traction on their own on Etsy. That might be a good test to see which of your products are going to be your winners and make profitable ads, you’ve got this! Keep at it and I’m proud of you for getting going!

    I don't have a png shop but I do sell crochet patterns which go for a similar price to your listings. I have never been able to get the new style of ads to work for me, I always just end up losing money every time I try them. With the old ads you could choose how much you paid per click and they were great, I ran those for years with great success. If you do figure out a way to get them to work for digital stores with low price listings I would love to learn how. I tend to use them for a new listing to try and get it to rank and then turn it off.

    Hi Shawna! As a beginner, I started off my shop using your advice about research-based decisions. Is it crucial for a beginner to use other platforms in order to gain more visits to your store and therefore get your first sale or can this be done within Etsy alone. I am from South Africa but I only look to sell to US customers for various reasons. So the option to ask family and friend to purchase from my store in order to get some reviews is out of the question for me. Any advice?

  • @artscee1458
    @artscee1458 Месяц назад

    Hi Shawna! Thanks for the video. I have a question on Etsy fees. I don’t get that many sales, but I do occasionally. I’m hoping that will change soon. I have a question on Etsy fees. When I make a sale I thought Etsy only takes 20 cents off and then 20 cents more off for the relisting fee on that one item you got a sale on. I made about $4 profit on that one item, which is the most I have ever made. I told Etsy I would like to get paid daily, but I find that they are including other listing fees of products that I have listed through out the month. I have put my settings on to get paid daily so not sure why they are taking out other listing fees of other listings I listed in the month. So I’m not sure how I find my profit if they are doing that. I use the Everbee profit calculator, but somehow there are other extra listing fees Etsy is including. If that’s how it works then how do I find my profit? I hope that makes sense.

    I genuinely don't mean this like it sounds LOL but... you talk about staying on trend, but this design seems so out of date to me? It's very late 90s - early 2000s homespun, kinda 'grandma's craft room'. Are people just nostalgic for it and it's getting a revival? Or is it more about the keywords being on trend and the design only has to appeal to enough people?
    Very encouraging to see it's possible to do well now and so quickly. Gives me a little boost considering I haven't started and won't do until January (yes after the holidays LOL I can't handle that stress)

      @shawnalynn2083  Месяц назад

      Hey there, Penelope! January will be a great time to start and you’ll be able to grow your business next year! Being on trend just really has everything to do with paying attention to what is selling on Etsy and sometimes that means things that we think are totally not so attractive! lol!!!

    The bestseller tag really doesn't mean anything. If you use any of the available tools to look at the listings, you can see that often those listings labeled as a best seller often have very little sales.

    • @shawnalynn2083
      @shawnalynn2083  Месяц назад

      Hey there! In order to get a best seller badge that listing has to have had a great sales velocity. After a period of time of not many sales this special badge will drop off. if you’re finding stats that look like it hasn’t sold much. It may be that it sold very quickly and everbee hasn’t caught up with its updated numbers many times when I get a new best seller if I look at the Everby stats It shows way fewer sales than my listing actually has. Hope this helps!

    May I ask a few questions about an unfair 1 star review that I received from a customer that complained that my Etsy shop shows that my items ship from Florida and the ornament that he bought said it was shipped from California. Is there a way to hide "ship from" on my shop? Have any of your customers complained about that? I already spoke to him through messages and he already told me that he's not going to change it. He is not reviewing the item, and that's frustrating!! The "ship from" affects us pod sellers. There should be an option to hide it from the store.

If you have a customer that is on the spectrum of disappointed to angry with the shirt that they ordered (she sent me a photo and it's a best seller that is exactly as described, correct color and size) yet they are demanding a full refund in all caps... do you cancel and refund with apologies to avoid the 1 star? Or do you only offer a partial refund and take the imminent hit. I have a perfect 5 stars with 200 reviews.

      Hey there! I would refund with apologies in this scenario! It sounds like a one star is imminent if not. I know it is not fair! Sorry you have a bad customer!

    I don’t understand what this is? I have never heard of Dalmatian dots and after looking at the page, I am still clueless. Can you explain what this is and how you came up with this as a shop? What does someone do with this PNG? Is this something for teachers or crafters?

      Hi there Vicky! I had never heard of it either! I just found a font that was a best seller and that is what it was called in their SEO - Dalmation Font. There are different spin offs of it selling well in the market place now but originally it was marquee style letters with a Dalmation pattern background. It is for crafters and POD sellers or anyone who is looking to put a design together with this style of font. This shop will be a PNG shop with files meant to help crafter and print on demand sellers.

    Hi!
    I purchased the Q4 resource earlier this month.
    I would like to print it (and tried to print), but it doesn't seem to be formatted for print.
    Can you help?
    Thank you!

      Hey there! Thanks so much for purchasing the Q4 calendar resource! I hope you find it so helpful! It is totally able to be printed! I am wondering if maybe you might try changing the orientation to landscape or perhaps there is another setting on your computer that needs to be changed?

      Hey there! It is all about the right design! I know it is easy to focus on how much cheaper someone else is and get into a rut of thinking that you can't succeed. But let's try to focus on all the gobs of people making sales at prices that are in line with what we can do. There are bunches and bunches! I hope this helps!

    Wouldn't listing an item 3 months in advance be a bad idea no give your listing a bad listing score. I'd think you do not want to list until at least some searches are coming in. Otherwise your listing would sink lower and lower with the lack of positive interactions

      Hey there! I like to start listing about 60 to 90 days in advance and consistently list in that niche until about 30 days before the holiday or event. But with Christmas I start in July!

      Haha! That is SOOOO the plan! And it should be yours too! I have managed to do that in my shirt shop a number of times and that is where you can make some really nice income on just a few designs! The great thing about a trending font in that they can be used in any niche and look totally different... just be one of the first to take it there! But more importantly... the thought I was really hoping you would take with you from this video is that if you take the time to learn how to add value to the market you can be wildly successful on Etsy. I hope you got that too!
