Nice Camaro! I had a brand new '89 IROC-Z Camaro back in 1989. It was a 350, TPI, Automatic. The Camaro was red with black stripes and graphics, and it had T-tops (I really miss T-tops). The '89 Camaro was a cool looking and fun car, but it was way underpowered, and it turned into a rattle-trap after about 2 years. I ended up trading The Camaro in on a new '91 custom Chevy Sportside truck in 1991. Although I do miss the '89 Camaro, it was my least favorite of the 5 Camaros that I have owned in my lifetime. Those Camaros include a '68, two '71s, the '89, and currently a 2020 2SS Camaro. As you can probably tell, I am a huge Camaro fan. 😊
When i was a teenager. My best friends dad bought a black & gold 85 brand new and then he traded it in on a brand new 5.7 Iroc-z white like this. He kept it like brand new. Then in 1992 someone followed him home and stole it. Never found it. The 350 Iroc had 235 hp and a 3.27 borg warner 9 bolt rear standard. All were automatic with the 5.7
awesome car, brings back memories. my mom had one of these when I was born, and got rid of it when i was 6 or 7. Nice IROC!!! I purchased my '87 IROC in 1991 and owned it for 17 years. It was a red 5.7 hard top with the A4. I went crazy with the modifications to make it go faster. I ended up with a 396 ci stroker motor small block (I used a 3.875" forged Lunati crank, not a 400ci crank with the 3.75 " stroke) and a Paxton supercharger. Obviously, I had many other goodies to support the added power. Has anyone seen an IROC with T-tops have the 5.7 emblems on the outside of the car but the sticker under the hood say 5.0? I saw two of them and was shocked. Regardless, they are beautiful cars. Reading these posts and threads brings back memories and the kid in me.

I ordered a loaded '87 in late 1986 with the 5.7 and the #3 IROC package. Owned it 18 years, sold it in 2005 with 20,200 original miles. In '89 you could get the 305 5-speed with the N10 package ... that gave you a true dual-cat exhaust. You'll notice is when you sit on the passenger side front seat, the floorboard is different.
The 92’s had the same power as a 91 and a 90….89’ iroc 240hp/340 tq. Then in 1990 they went to speed density and a different piston (flat top?) it gained 5 more ea. 245/345…for 350 motor…the cool thing was if you grabbed a 89-92 with the 305 5 speed -(only) you got the 350 cam in the 305…so the 305 was putting out 10 less hp @235 then the 350!, and you had a manual !!! Only downfall was you lost 45 ft. Pounds of torque…300-305.
Nice car.....I have a 1989 IROC. For sale red exterior...gray interior..31000 original miles...5.7...always stored inside....I'm going to place it on hagerty in June...
Bought one new in 1989 . I did all maintenance and still the head gaskets went out. It was still under warranty but the dealer wanted to charge for for the repair. I got the repair fixed for free, but I never wanted a GM car again 😮.
What a car. Would've been one of the best had the 350 in the IROC been teamed with the 5 speed. But gov't regulations etc ugh, so they tied it to the 305. Nonetheless, car still brings smiles.
Nice car but the down side is that’s a example that’s sat in the sun a lot. Decals ,emblems ,stripes ,rear trunk shade and front turn signals lenses and shed look like new. The up side is all those things I mentioned are not that expensive to replace.
Something isn't right. T-tops were never an option with 5.7 cars, or was it the 5.0? Can't quite remember but one of the engine options you could not get t-tops.. pretty sure it was the 5.7
I had a 1987 iroc z with the 5.7 also with t tops and white. I use to race corvettes and mustang's all the time and beat them. Loved that car wish I still had it.
Can anyone explain why they even offered the 305? It wasn't cheaper to manufacture, made noticeably less power than the 350, did NOT get better gas mileage to any amount worth considering.
Yes, this was a 1 owner car out of southern Michigan. Sounds like you have yourself a pretty nice 3rd gen! Hard to find 5.7 tpi cars with that low of mileage anymore. We did sell this car a few months ago.
Well the 85/86 bucket seats were gross …had a 87’ 305/5 speed black , rare black interior and gold pkg… 1987 had 1 year only interior no matter what color you got… that’s the year u want bro 85/86 seats looked like ass…. I actually like the 88-92 seats
My 89 Formula 350 took care of some too, and many a 5.0, as they were like flies on the streets of H-Town back in the good ole days. This was in 92-93, and my car was far from stock of course. So I'm just razzing you. Truly fun times. The guys that got so pissed when they couldn't do anything with you were always the GN and corvette drivers. They thought
Had a red 1990 350 formula was fast and torquey… formulas were the lightest of the 3rd gens , like the lx mustang after they ground effected it in 87’ all the ford boys wanted the lx, I had the 87 -305/5 speed black and gold pkg Iroc..
A 25 year old car, if it has 5 miles on it, every rubber/plastic engine component ready to break or fail and needs to be replaced. Cars from the 50, 60s even the 70s did not use many plastic components.
It's an aftermarket t-top job then with the 350. None were sold from the factory that way. They stopped the 350 t-tops at the end of the 1989 manufacturing.
Yep and if you got the 305 with 5 speed you still couldn’t get tops unless that 305 was with a auto cause the 5speed cars ( only) got the 350 cam and were only 10hp less than a 350.. you also got n10 dual cats j65 dual disk brakes , g80 posi and the awesome g92 gear. No tops with g92 hardtop only… so when 1990 hit and no more 350’s with tops… guys were like I’ll get the 305 5 speed and get tops - well nope got screwed cause the 5 speed cars got that bigger cam and g92… so you really got screwed.. a 305 auto is equivalent to suicide lol
What an absolutely gorgeous car! Loved Irocs then, love them now!

The 5.7L would grenade the 5-speed T5. That transmission wasn't meant for high-torque applications.

Nice car.....I have a 1989 IROC. For sale red exterior...gray interior..31000 original miles...5.7...always stored inside....I'm going to place it on hagerty in June...
My absolute dream car!!
Had white 90 Rs had to click lol loved that car!!
Such a great looking timeless car.
The 5 speed is the way to go with those 5.7L IROC Z's
True. I have an 87 automatic. The upshifting is harsh and tight....
Try and find one never a factory build. 305 5 speed or Auto only Auto available in the 350
Carpooled to HS in a black 85. I can still hear Ozzy on the tapedeck and smell Jakarta cloves. GOod times
Bought one new in 1989 . I did all maintenance and still the head gaskets went out. It was still under warranty but the dealer wanted to charge for for the repair. I got the repair fixed for free, but I never wanted a GM car again 😮.
Most late 80s early90s TPIs would pooch the head gasket
Solution was a good set of aftermarkets
What a car. Would've been one of the best had the 350 in the IROC been teamed with the 5 speed. But gov't regulations etc ugh, so they tied it to the 305. Nonetheless, car still brings smiles.
Basically, it's perfect. You won't find a better stock condition 3rd gen than that.
Nice car but the down side is that’s a example that’s sat in the sun a lot. Decals ,emblems ,stripes ,rear trunk shade and front turn signals lenses and shed look like new. The up side is all those things I mentioned are not that expensive to replace.
A real one! Fully in tact hence easily identify as a real IROC-Z!!
It's such a clean looking car.
Had an '88 Iroc-Z aame color too. Mine had the 5.7 t.p.i. engine and auto. A 4-speed was not available. The manual was available with the 5.0 engine.
Me to
Had one, loved it!
I remember in high school we had a football player that had an iroc z but his was lettered: Iroq Z
Gorgeous Camaro
Best looking car ever made
!!!!!?????
Should have specified American but yeah my opinion... @@1972Ray
@@sinepari9160 Hey, to each his own, right? Peace.
Still.looks awesome. Beautiful body lines
Something isn't right. T-tops were never an option with 5.7 cars, or was it the 5.0? Can't quite remember but one of the engine options you could not get t-tops.. pretty sure it was the 5.7
T-tops were offered with the 5.7 when it debut'd in 1987. They were available with both engine options, but discontinued for the 1990 model year.
350 and tops 87,88&89 only 305 available all years
Those would qualify as cool now with about 130 more horsepower.
I had a 1987 iroc z with the 5.7 also with t tops and white. I use to race corvettes and mustang's all the time and beat them. Loved that car wish I still had it.
Sweeet IROC! Like the white 👍
Always wanted one
Could have bought ine 4 years back but black all origunal Z-28 but 5 liter I would have but only a 5.7 .
So cool 😎 🆒️
Thank you!
Would love to have one, not willing to pay 40k for one in 2023 when you couldnt get 3k for these things 20 years ago
Can anyone explain why they even offered the 305? It wasn't cheaper to manufacture, made noticeably less power than the 350, did NOT get better gas mileage to any amount worth considering.
Michigan car? I have a red 1988 5.7 tpi with 37k on it all original. Love the 3rd gens! Did you sell this one?
Yes, this was a 1 owner car out of southern Michigan. Sounds like you have yourself a pretty nice 3rd gen! Hard to find 5.7 tpi cars with that low of mileage anymore. We did sell this car a few months ago.
I have to rate this video in excellent condition
Nice car!
slower than my daughters civic sport hatchback. love the looks but couldnt drive this with a stock 350.
These are real easy to mod and make em quick.
I think these Iroc's are the best looking Camaro's ever made... But your hood dont seem to line up that great with the nose..
Check the Manual for the bill of sale.
THATS A PROBLEM THAT THE Oil pressure gauge doesn't work. That seems like a red flag to me
Super clean!
Damn i would love to have this
I think the sticker price range was $18k to $21k in 89
Third brake light not working
I still own a 1992 Iroc z 5.7 l 350
No Irocs in '92, just Z28. Hold on to it, hard to find these days!
I don’t like the changes they made in 88 the rims the decal towards the back of the door and all interior had that tweed look.
Well the 85/86 bucket seats were gross …had a 87’ 305/5 speed black , rare black interior and gold pkg… 1987 had 1 year only interior no matter what color you got… that’s the year u want bro 85/86 seats looked like ass…. I actually like the 88-92 seats
That was the in thing back then. Tweed int on cars, Berber carpet in houses.
@@gordocarbo yup mustang had that same thing at that time
My 86 50 Mustang took care of a couple of those
My 89 Formula 350 took care of some too, and many a 5.0, as they were like flies on the streets of H-Town back in the good ole days.
I have an 89 iroc z too i want to put on the road again only 89k miles
This car sold already?
5/17/2024
Nice!!!!!
bring them back...before GM goes out of business
A 25 year old car, if it has 5 miles on it, every rubber/plastic engine component ready to break or fail and needs to be replaced. Cars from the 50, 60s even the 70s did not use many plastic components.
How much?
Where in Michigan is this?
We are actually located in Elkhart, IN just south of the Michigan border.
Finally a 5.7 liter. Tired of all these overpriced IROC's with the 5.slow in them.
Unbelievable
Bs k inn85 86 there cars where 16,000 loaded omg believe that
My dad owns a 1989 Camaro pretty cool.
My very 1st car was regular 85Camaro … engine was good but built quality was not great
What a,shame how the baddest car from the 80s is as powerful as a 2023 Toyota camry...
Luv my Camaro
Had nice car also till I got married don’t ever do that again
My dad owns
I have a 1990 iroc t tops just like it
It's an aftermarket t-top job then with the 350.
Auto....ugh......
