Some got saved ,some didn't. Some people just can't be saved.
It's not that they can't....they don't want to be
I think it's a selection bias for the US version since the more rundown an establishment is, the more entertaining(excluding Amy's of course). Watching the UK version, they pick restaurants a lot more carefully. There's really never a triple combo of the building, owners, & chefs being rundown. There's some semblance of business management going on. You can tell simply between the two versions by the amount Gordon needs to flip his lid. Still I can't deny the entertainment value of the US version.
like Amy...
Its a a staged show
tell it amy, if she is staged, then that's some Oscar Worthy performance and dedication
"we did exactly what Gordon told us to do but we still failed"
Literally never heard that once
Did they really though?
@@sharkey086did they really what? What does that even mean?? Are you missing chromosomes or are your parents very close? And yes they failed because they didn’t listen in this case so they shut down if that’s what you were trying to ask
Handlebar - Closed 2009 shortly after the revisit episode aired. Billy, the owner, died from cancer in 2015.
Casa Roma - Closed July 1st, 2017, after various name changes and menu changes Nylah still owned it even with the name changes.
The Black Pearl - Closed 4 days after the episode aired in September 2008 and well you can probably guess the cause there. 😅
Thanks for update!!
The Black Pearl - So they just wanted Ramsey to come in and do the place up before they sold it.
Wtff😮
Rest in peace billy
honestly that casa roma managed to stay afloat until 2017 is impressive
Ramsay should visit the ones still open
There are like TWO restaurants still open. 😢
It’s like drug addiction where the recidivism rate of going back to old habits is really high
@@Mooonchild711 According to a random online tabloid, 30 are still around, and they list them by name. 10 a season, 3 seasons, ez.
next episode lol
Some got hit hard during covid sadly@@reecemcclish5990
I think what's more impressive with Gordon than how improves the restaurant, is the way he can actually make someone a better person. He's great at breaking people down and building them back up again. What a top bloke 👍
I agree, I love watching anything he comes out with 😊
Absolutely
Gordon doesn’t ever guarantee the restaurants themselves will survive. He does however say that you will be a more effective, profitable, and quality restaurant if you follow his guides. It’s not a guarantee it’s just a guideline.
Some places goes under bcs:
1. Bad owner/management
2. They arent clicked to each others
3. They afraid of change
4. They have piling debts anyway
5. The owner didnt have clear goal and have great palate to begin with to open any restaurant.
Many has one or combined of all of those points. Not every restaurant can be saved even by Gordon Ramsay.
Those that got shafted by the pandemic, even after being saved by Gordon, have a valid excuse. Can't say the same for those that got shafted before the pandemic and didn't even heed Gordon's advice.
But for those that heeded Gordon's advice, turned everything around, and got shafted even before the pandemic? These restos I feel genuinely bad for, more so than those shafted by the pandemic.
You missed one other core thing that can cause a place to fold.... not having pride in what they do.
There is a differentiate gap between being a business owner and owner of a business.
@@JehielLyreLMalanMostly none of any kitchen nightmare restaurants shut down because of the pandemic because most of these were filmed 8+ years ago.
Most of the restaurants that survived in my Bklyn neighborhood owned the building.
38:38 "so like the pulled pork, huh?" from Ramsay, I'M DEAAAADDD 💀😭😭😭😂😂😭 also Steven is so awesome wish we could have a show dedicated just to him!! Good luck to him whereever he is now
I would’ve did the same thing 😂😂 calculate how do we steer away from this quickly 😭
that was amazing! Plus you can hear the crew in the background laughing, it was a totally off the cuff comment.
He is an Emmy award winning casting director!
I think people need to also understand that some of these places did change their ways and improve their restaurant. The problem is that they were eventually constrained by factors they couldn’t control.
While ramsay helps them improve their restaurant to a good state, the activity these restaurants get when Ramsay’s around vs when he isn’t is drastic. This paired with the fact that when they call ramsay they’re already under serious financial pressure, and an already long lasting poor reputation, and most of these restaurants shut down anyway.
The ones that have stayed open are simply just lucky, since they somehow manage to navigate through both their reputation and their finances. But this luck is relatively rare.
Yep many have been accruing more debt per month for decades (plus interest) than is possible to make per month in profit after turning around, so no matter what they can't survive after that as the owners and sometimes stakeholders who care won't even be alive by the end of that idealised timeline.
I remember seeing some owners who had that. Didn't fault Gordon but they knew that external issues got to them.
There is a show about the deaths associated with KN. Billy from Handlebar succumbed to cancer. They did have some success
The only actual fix is going to be good marketing after all the changes ramsay gives is remained in place
@@Bozebo Exactly. A lot of them let the balance sheet get far too dire and some owners have even already taken out loans against their houses. Gotta be able to spot trouble from a lot further away than that.
What I like about Gordon Ramsay is that when food is terrible he tell you the truth and when food is good he says "delicious "😋😁🌟🔥
If I’m honest, watching Gordon Ramsay beat owners even stubborn ones to the point of recognition in there errors made me realize I should look into my errors and have become a person who is honorable in others eyes. I appreciate everything about his videos Because it made me see my wrongdoings in regular life, familial, and professional
Very well said
She was so drunk at the bar. LOL "I dunnnnnnnooo waaaaht todew."
She talked the same way the whole show so i think thats just her cadence
It's important to consider that by the time things get bad enough to call Chef Ramsay for help, the problem may already be too large/ingrained for his improvements to do more than slow down the inevitable decline.
Probably nothing could have saved Amy's Baking Company for example.
I love Stevens energy , glad he's now doing well in film industry.
I just looked at hos IMDB, and he has won an Emmy !
I've said it before, I'll say it again: The british editing is so much better 😂
i love Gordon talking to the kid from the Black Pearl, Gordon mentioned how honest he was the first time around i dont know why he was really too suprised at his honest answer to his question about dating haha
I could only dream of having the opportunity to own and operate a restaurant and seeing what some of these restaurant owners and staff have done to their opportunities is heartbreaking. They've gone thru a lot and most of it can be prevented. But I wish them all the best. Gordon does seem to put his heart and his years and years skill set 100% into trying to help them. That is something many could only pray for in hopes of getting someone to help them.
100%%%%%
A lot of people are under the impression that the restaurant business is glamorous, when in reality it's anything but. A lot (if not most) of the proprietors in the failing restaurants that Gordon visited had absolutely no prior experience in food service. They just wanted to "live the dream."
I'm surprised The Handlebar survived after the show. Billy did NOT deserve it
I wouldn’t say that. No doubt he was rude, disrespectful, etc. when Gordon arrived. But he showed change and growth when given an opportunity, that’s all we can ask for.
IF THE OWNERS+ STAFF OF
BLACK PEARL
HAD LISTENED
TO GORDON
THEY WOULDN"T
HAVE "DROWNED".
its crazy that this shit was almost 20 years ago. Even crazier that all of these restaurants are closed now.
People’s childhood trauma with their dad get triggered when Gordon walks in with the verbal weaponry facts
Yeah because a lot of dad's don't explain to their children that they say those things to them because they love them and want them to be the best version of themselves like I have always done with my child.
@@stephenking8505 Compassion and understanding must be demonstrated in the conversation otherwise you alienate your kids/clientele and they may resent you. Doesn’t matter how right you are. Tough love can be abusive
I need Chef Ramsay to put me on a diet , and give me his motivation! He’s GREAT ! I just adore him! All his ideas are so smart , it baffles me that these owners revert back to what sunk them in the first place. The ones that are still viable 2024, kept whatever he advised and did ! Case in point, Chester Hotel , Oceana Grill, The Walnut Tree and about 25 others, not to mention his NINETY restaurants. So, who would I listen to ??? But , why do these owners wait till they are circling the drain!??? Did I mention I ADORE HIM??
I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for decades. It is an inherently stressful job. I used to have self imposed stress regarding waiting on the public. I had to systematically divest myself of it. Had to stop fretting over gratuities. Don’t take things so seriously. It’s just food fgs! Thankfully I didn’t have the stress of working for a restaurant with lousy food. Cuz I wouldn’t wanna be taking stuff back bc it’s shit. Customers generally won’t complain directly to the management. They just don’t come back. And that bad word of mouth will be spread farther than any accolades could.
These owners are far too angry. Gonna tear Ramsay’s head off or beat him with a baseball bat? That attitude permeates the entire crew and service. People go to restaurants to relax and enjoy NOT cooking. Now add owners arguing loudly in the kitchen? Oh but no. Now add crap cuisine? Oh goodbye.
Their biggest problem was the mountain of debt they had before Chef Ramsay got there.
You can pull the pan out of the fire, but if the food's already burnt, it can't be served.
Steven is so funny I aspire to be like him
You know what would be cool, Ramsay visiting successful and liked contestants of hell's kitchen, sorta like a follow up
Short answer: No.
But here's the thing. Restaurants go out of business all the time, Gordon did his best to give them every chance to succeed and that's really all he could do. in the end, at least he made some good content.
The Casa Roma restaurant and staff brightened up after they fired the bad cook.
Some of these spots were fixed up to sell bc they'd already deci 18:29 ded to sell before they were on the show. I still love watching him though😊 Great job gastro pub!
He tried and many pretended to listen. Unfortunately, they thought they knew better than chef Ramsay 👍
Chef Ramsay has saved the restaurants in a year
I'd like to know, Dont These places get a Health Inspector come visit every 6 months? I work in a Restaurant in Canada. And we get a visit to say if we Pass or Not
I think he has there best interests at heart
Lol, the last place. Lol lol that conversation got awkward really fast! Lol, Gordon, don’t share ur food with young men anymore. At least don’t let them share ur actual meal cause u invited him to a private lunch and shared it pork w him… lol, the look on Gordy’s face was priceless how they went from Gordy’s pork to him not getting boinked. lol lol 😂
Some of these episodes from Kitchen Nightmares must have been recorded in 2006, etc. I would love to see in 2024 an episode of Gordon visiting some of the restaurants that are still open (if any). That would be awesome!
If they survived COVID then they deserve to be open
Yeah there is 30 of them still open today
he’s really come a long way
I like how shit is censored but the fuck went straight by 😄
Spin a Yarn is still open. Hopefully will visit this year.
Awesome Video Gordon 😄😄
As usual you will always surprise us 😁
Being on not 1 but 2 kitchen nightmares.... strong work 💪
we need a part 2 of did Gordon save these places.
The one in my city...Lancaster, i googled mapped to see the picture of the restaurant and it got turned into a banquet hall called Garibaldi's!!
Is Gordon Ramsay the Messiah?
Savage... when Gordon says you are in the running for the worst chef in the country... that has to burn....
I think he just bring the necesary to boost the restaurans the rest depends of the owners to keep the bussines going and keep them on the better standars to make them work
Pride and ego got him
Drew was Eric Jr. And poor Nyla. One loser after the other after the other. Her son was a loser too. Then Nyla met the perfect worker complementary to her. He had one of Gordon's fixups and then another of Gordon's fixups.
Need more of ths
Ol' Grumpy didn't want to play.
He wanted to be a contrarian.
Did y'all not see him deep fry grilled cheese!!!...
Billy died of cancer a year or so after this
Nylah was such a lovely person. She deserved all the good things ❤️
I'm still watching the Amy episode from Scottsdale AZ. No way could that be saved.
Thank god he posted this hahahaha ....
Can you tag the video with timelines so we can skip between the good bits more easily? :)
Steven is an icon and we love it
Steak Diane was named for my first cousin twice removed.
Gastro pub 🍻 😂 haha
22:20 that’s what my avocados look like
What type of man’s absence from his own restaurants cause him to lose Michelin stars to help people ? Now that’s something special right there.
Melissa got bigger from the new menu lol
This show makes me not want to eat at a restaurant anymore ickch
ngl, a martini marinated filet sounds pretty darn good.
I hope the handlebar succeeds bigly.
Omg that last one is like response for so many people to loose the job that is so unhuman acting
the handlebar is closed 2024
I went from employee to a manager then up to regional manager and was fixing all kinds of issues with so many of the restaurants I was working for and the owner lost his mind and argued with me on an operation upgrade issue that I found. it turned out the owner was trying to bypass the IRS and as I was fixing the issue with the company "yeah I am being vague on the matter" the company took all 5 of his stores after they found out he let me go because I was fixing the issues in question. I don't know the details but the IRS took the rest they wanted. He should have just left me fix all the issues that I found with the operations. He would not have ended up in jail for a few years for tax evasion and still own his 5 stores.
10 minutes of retelling a story we all already watched is a great way for me not to care about how they did ✌️
Billy passed away from cancer at November 2015. RIP
God bless. 🙏🏼🙏🏼💜💜 So sad. 😢
Not surprised the owner sold the lobster claw machine that was kind of out there
I really hope Gordon since learned what is a fondue bourguignonne.
For his defense though it should be served with good handmade sauces like bourguignonne, tartare or béarnaise, not a crappy industrial ketchup
Kaput finished 😂😂
3 days ago??? I just saw the guy with a wireless phone from 1990, haircuts from the 80's
Steven, wow is he honest.
Cheif Ramsey said, "Gordtee"😂😂😂😂😂😂hell naw
Anyone notice how physical Gordon Ramsay is with Steven in the last one? He kinda treats him like that one gay friend lmaoo
Awww steven!! 😍😍😍💜 he is soooo dreamy..😍😍😍
Gordon thought the fondue tasted like dog food. NO IT DOESN'T, Gordon. We feed dogs better than we fed you.
Wow, I never knew cross-over
Less than 20% are still in business. You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot stop him from making the water muddy.
Doesn’t help that season 1 was from before the 2008 recession. That closed a lot of restaurants that might have otherwise lasted a while longer
The owner wasn't just bad at anything, they just not good with everything
In Waukegan puerto Nayarit Mexican food
Most of the problem in these problem restaurants is ego
The handle bar still looks old 🥴
I will to recommend to go to tahinis aur Shelby's restaurant, please
It’s crazy, that dude David acted the way he did, went and sold that Lobster 🦞 Claw Game. Ya know, I bet Gordon researched and had that Designed and Built. Buy an Aquarium builder AND claw game builder. Think Ahead and make stuff happen. When you have extra cash, people seem to answer there phones and Work for it. He should have had a FEW of those built. For serious business operators
Jesus, Hand, bear owners before Chef , both of them looked like death warmed over, after Chef and all improvements, they have sparkle in their eyes, look so happy and even have out on weight. So happy for them , till I heard Billy died. So very very sorry . But at least his restaurant turned around ,
.
Steven is handsome, and I wish him the very best!❤
Nice
🔥
Gordon says he did over 100 episodes. I wonder how 🤔 many weren't aired?
I love Gordon Ramsey! Billy the first owner was just an arrogant loser and nothing but!
Didn’t the handlebar close down recently?
It closed in 2009 and Billy passed away in 2015 of Cancer I believe
On RealityTVRevisited it says that they sold the restaurant shortly after the revisited episode aired, but that it’s now called Benchwarmers Tavern and Grill - maybe that’s the one that closed recently?
you cant help everyone..
WHO TF IS CUTTING ONIONS
Hey Billy. At least in jail you'd have a clean kitchen and safe food
U don't disrespect someone who is in far higher level than u
