It’s interesting because that applies to Batman himself. Even Bruce overstates his position and gets humbled each time he isn’t the shit. The twins weren’t afraid to him and didn’t easily submit to him, and after he knocked them out he overconfidently walked in the joint with zero stealth and got in altercation he didn’t need to have. Say give it like 10 more years of this peak Batman would never waste time with small shuffles and avoid a fight at all cost if he can slip through undetected like a force of nature. Sneak in through a vent and interrogate Penguin with zero distractions and move fourth with his investigation. They really hit the nail with the imperfect amateur Batman.

@@Lite727 I’m not sure how that applies to “rule’s for thee, not for me” but you may be right. And yes, you’re right about the twins. I’m satisfied if Penguin wasn’t so close behind Batman, the twins would have shot him many times.
But I’m not convinced it would do much good since Batman could walk up to two goons shooting him with fully automatic rifles at point blank range and be fine.

      There's nothing keeping him tied
If he wanted to he could just take penguin and put him in jail the problem is this wouldn't stick because Gotham is too corrupt and also because penguin can buy anyone with all the money he has.
Batman first has to remove the corruption from the js ( justice system )
From the iceberg lounge scene penguin didn't care all that much about everything illegal he was doing right in front of batman
He thinks himself untouchable and in a way he is because he has Gotham in the palm of his hand especially the justice system.

I love the fact that Batman's voice becomes noticeably more 'growly' in these bits, more akin to Bale's Batman. His voice during his scenes with Gordon is noticeably more whispery/natural by comparison.
It's a cool little nuance of Pattinson's performance. His Batman is obviously trying to appear intimidating in front of Penguin/his enemies, but this is not always necessary when he's around allies. Keaton's Batman did this too, as did Conroy's to a certain extent. It works better than Bale's Batman who constantly used the 'Batman' voice whenever his Bruce Wayne donned the suit, always trying to one up himself in terms of how intimidating it could sound. Pattinson's Batman is much more layered and subtle by comparison.

    • @Razor_Crest

I agree. On the surface, it would seem that Pattinson's performance is lazy but the more you start going down the layers, he becomes one of the most emotional characters you've ever seen but doesn't show it on his sleeve. @rickygforce4217 Год назад +51

@@Cole-ossalReviews Ew, the Warehouse scene is decent but the blocking/framing from Snyder is sub-par (as usual) and the 'viscerality' of that fight is hugely reliant on quick-cuts (probably from depending on coverage rather than calculated shot composition) and waaaaaayyyy too much shaky cam. It's badass on first-viewing, but fluff on repeat viewings. It's like a slightly better version of the shit the Russos were pulling on CA:TWS. Highly overrated, imo.
This movie's approach was far closer to Daredevil. Instead of faking impactfulness with cheap tricks, the camera is locked down (no fake handheld BS), creeps in slowly, and lets the pure choreography do the work. The framing/set-design is allowed to be far more calculated this way. Not to mention the lighting + texture alone in this movie blows the Warehouse scene out of the water.
Only reason the Warehouse scene is so well-received is because it's like a diamond in the rough. It's the one decently-made action scene in the sea of poorly framed CGI-muddiness present in BvS.

@@rickygforce4217 what are you talking about? There was no shaky cam whatsoever in the Warehouse scene. That's what makes Snyder great. Youre adding all these pointless facts that have nothing to do with the fight scene itself. I disagree with you. The warehouse scene was a much better fight scene than Battinsons. All Battinson did was fight like a bar brawler throwing punches. Batfleck used multiple gadgets that disarmed the criminals of their guns in a matter of seconds. Blew the ground from under them and used his grappling gun in more creative ways than Battinson did.
Batfleck also specifically showed mixed martial arts including Muay Thai, Jujitsu, Judo and Kickboxing. In fact. The more I watch it the better it gets. And Battinson wouldn't even last against those warehouse criminals. Sorry but you're wrong pal.

"There was no shaky cam whatsoever in the Warehouse scene." my brother in christ I'm looking at the scene rn and even the established shots have camera shake. In fact, 90% of the fucking movie has it. I'm not the only one to spot this, Snyder's overuse of handheld is well-lambasted online.
"Youre adding all these pointless facts that have nothing to do with the fight scene itself" Hah, I'm talking about basic shooting principles you learn about at a first-year level, which absolutely apply to the quality of the fight scene. Next you'll tell me the soundtrack doesn't matter.
"All Battinson did was fight like a bar brawler throwing punches." you've never fought in a bar, I can tell.
"Batfleck used multiple gadgets that disarmed the criminals of their guns in a matter of seconds. Blew the ground from under them and used his grappling gun in more creative ways than Battinson did." I agree with you on this, the gadget use in the Warehouse scene is inspired.
"Batfleck also specifically showed mixed martial arts including Muay Thai, Jujitsu, Judo and Kickboxing. In fact. The more I watch it the better it gets." again, this would matter a lot more to me if Snyder didn't shoot almost exclusively in close-medium shots with sporadic movement, taking away from the choreography.
Sorry, I'm just not convinced the Warehouse scene isn't just a decent, slightly-better version of the shit I've seen constantly in MCU movies. Good choreography and set-pieces marred by being poorly lit, shot and edited. Have a nice day.

We never get an explanation as to how he's able to do things that way, just that he knows some Kung Fu shit and just disappears from plain sight the second someone looks away. It's just straight up impossible stuff irl. In the new Batman movie, we see him enter a lounge through the front door, we see him assisting cops and investigating with them, or running away from cops and not just disappearing into thin air while everyone is looking. I was surprised when he knocked on the door and asked them if he could see the Penguin and then he had a non hostile conversation with him. He tried not to be too nice because that would be counter productive but he also needs to approach the situation as a time to ask questions and get some answers. Also, I like how he inspects everything happening between Cobblepot and Selina like a guard. I read an article about how Batman rigid movement are explained by the use of camera contact lenses, he needs to move slowly to take in the surroundings. This scene adds depth to it, he is looking at everything, no one is coming and going without his notice unless if it they are too fast or a lot is happening at once.

That would make sense. Even though he’s super smart, he might not catch everything in the moment. He can watch tape back at the cave and journal to put clues together. Genius. He’s gathering clues as he goes rather than figuring it all out on the spot.

For my taste, this film has the perfect balance between realism and science fiction. There are a lot of details that make the story and characters tangible but also fit into the background of Gotham city. For example, the makeup on Colin Ferrell works like magic. He puts on the scarred face, the gold teeth and the overweight torso and then you would not believe it is him. Furthermore, the gang boss vibe wouldn’t have been so spot-on were it not for his good acting. I particularly enjoy how he delivers the following line with a hint of contempt and playfulness:
“The mayor? Oh shit it is. Look at that.”

    he really, really hates guns.

One of the most underrated aspects of this movie is the subtlety. Reeves never does too much of anything and always leaves you wanting just a tad more. In the best way. A lesser director would have had a long drawn out fight scene. This is 45 seconds of a well choreographed, purposeful fight scene.
