I'm really hoping that Barry, Sheriff Sarah Breaker and many of the other characters are in this game. Alan Wake is very dear to my heart, and I'm ecstatic to finally play soon. It's been a long wait.
@Brook I think for the story, it wouldn't make sense to scrap previous characters. When Alan got trapped in the dark place, Barry and the others were still in a different reality.
Hearing James McCaffrey anytime warms my heart and also gives me chills he has such a unique voice all the nostalgia from Max Payne i wish he was in more video games.

@@LukaBEET They've been picking it up recently, though. Control had some pretty unique gameplay that was satisfying, just needed more enemies. Alan Wake 2 seems to have a good variety of enemies from what we've seen so far, very creepy too, and I think using the survival horror element of the sequel will allow them to do a "less is more" for this scenario. Variety of tools spread out thinly. I do hope there is difficulty settings for this one though lol casual here

Question for someone at Remedy... We waited 13 years for a sequel to Alan Wake. How much of the game is going to be from Alan's perspective and about Alan? For the last two videos all we've seen is Saga Anderson and gameplay from that perspective. Seriously, how much Alan is going to be in Alan Wake 2? For 13 years we've wanted to know what happened to Alan and all the great characters around him, not a FBI agent. Seems like an odd choice.

Been a fan of Remedy's work since the first Max Payne on PC. It's surreal seeing how far they've come throughout the years with Alan Wake, Quantum Break and Control and having Sam Lake now sit in the position of Creative Director after seeing him start as the facial likeness and writer of the original Max Payne games.

It can't be helped, Alan wake can't come out of the dark place for probably the most of the game, I thi k it's good that we will have many opportunities to explore the outside world map and revisit locations, it also helps with new players as they are new to the place just like anderson
Please Sam give us a physical box edition on consoles. I will buy both digital and physical copy of it. I would also buy a collector's edition if it had a game inside. Such a great franchise and cult classic asks for a proper pumped up release. In the interviews they say that its about 50/50 so you can consider them both main characters, not just Alan. But, I'm happy, since this way we also get a perspective into the real world
Alan and Saga are 2 main characters of this sequel, 2 campaigns that can be played individually with Alan or with Saga or directly alternate between one and the other where there is the main story, the experience with both protagonists and their story.
Saga ANDERSON. There's no way Sam gave her that surname without a reason. I have a feeling the Old Gods will be playing a much bigger role in this game compared to the first and if that also includes new tracks from Poets of the Fall I am even more excited than I already was.
I finally finished my journey through this great story and now I can say I fell in love with Saga as a character. Smart and strong woman, but still a woman. Also beautiful. Thank you guys for your job and thanks to the actress who did a great job. Happy New Year!

Theory: Alan created or “altered” Saga into existence to rescue him but the twist will be Alan had to create the murders that set the events in motion that got her to Brightfalls.
I think Saga always existed. The powers of the Dark Presence can only nudge things into a certain direction, but it can’t create from nothing. So Saga really is an FBI agent well before, but the ritualistic murders Alan wrote about is the circumstance that brings her to Bright Falls. Much like how Thomas Zan lane probably wrote about Alan Wake going to the town
Alan brought Alex Casey into existence and partenred him with Saga. After Casey dies (because he was never real to begin with), this will motivate Saga into investigating Bright Falls and eventually getting Alan out of the Dark Place
Man, if that were the twist of the game it would definitely suck, at least for me who has already seen al the Remedy side-content leading up to Alan Wake 2 because all of this is something we already knew.

From the start the premise of having two playable characters caught my attention, this well done could lead to a very good story. Then at minute 2:40 when she says a woman of color in the role of protagonist that we don’t see often, there, just there, the cassette starts to scratch very ugly and it gives the impression that the only reason she is there is to mark an inclusivity checkbox? I don't care in the slightest if she's female, male or a chicken, or African-American or Chinese or Australian or Congolese or Greenlandic, it's enough that she's a competent FBI agent, a loving mother, and that her character is well written. Now a ref flag has turned on for me and I go from super hyped up to carefully optimistic. I hope that everything goes well and that it is not one of those cases of a perfect woman in everything that completely replaces the male character and makes him look ridiculous.

I don't personally think this is a check box thing, probably just an actress thing. I do hope that she isn't a perfect character though, and has flaws like Alan does. Control was great, but one thing I was iffy about was how Jesse was a pretty two dimensional character. Still hyped personally for this game. Even if that was their motive, it most likely wont have anything to do with the game:D

Can‘t wait for the game and I really hope that Filippo gets to give us a flawless HDR implementation right on from release. Native black levels and perfectly popping highlights can be such an enhancement to the immersion and his reworked mod of Control was brilliant. More of that! 👏

A main characters need flaws in order to be relatable. I don't like when they introduce a new character and is all positive words to describe them, I rather see them in action and find out myself. Alan worked for me because I did't know anything abot him. He was a simple man (a writer) in a world of horror and he needed to adapt to save his wife and friends.

To be honest, I really like Saga and her story in Alan Wake 2, didn't think about any of the "woman, or woman of color specifically" kind of stuff while playing it, I simply took her as a character and enjoyed it... then I found this video. Was it really necessary to mention it how crucial those traits are?? Can't we just make characters like this without constantly bolstering about race and sex? The year is 2023 - women of color are put everywhere in mainstream media, even to the roles of characters that were created as white (not even mentioning how they are forgetting to include other races, like Asian women... I guess they are not enough "of color"). The importance of those mentions kind of lost on its once powerful meaning.

Really like that all teasers and trailers dont give out spoilers and keeps us in the right frame of mind and wanting to play it. Some questions may never me solved. Maybe I should not mention this, but I'd love to see a public map editor for the players to use for Alan Wake. That will allow for new ways to play and experience, more and more Alan Wake scenarios. This is something I wish you guys could do, I don't know if it's even possible or a way to spawn npcs around the map, but either way, looking forward to the game! In addition, I'd like to mention that I am a big fan of multiple playable characters in one game.

A few months ago I bought Alan Wake remastered on PC. Yesterday I finally installed it and for my complete disappointment the game has very frequent graphical glitches. I searched about it and lots of people have the same problem. It's something specific of the pc version. There's no adjustment in the graphics settings of the game that fix it. My setup is superior than the recommended. It's just unplayable and I can't get a refund from epic because it has passed much more than 14 days. Now I have a game that I spent money on it but I can't play it. It's just unbelievable that a company launch a game in this state and never fix it. I was thinking about buying the PS5 port but I don't think that's fair, they will get my money twice (3 if we include de xb360 version I paid full price back there) on the same game.
If we were going to get a new character added that plays the role of a detective why didn't we get Alex Casey the character from Alan Wakes books who is a detective based on a pi.

I love the first game and want the second one to do good as well but this just screams to me, we got another Ray Skywalker situation on our hands. A new character that no one knows or cares about shows up in the film/game with pre-established characters, but they are what the is focused on (not the mc) and they are just better at everything than the mc. Also they are always morally superior to the mc can have no flaws and have to save the mc constantly but never get saved by the mc because they could handle it on their own even if we previously established the mc as a chosen one type character this new character is just better than them.

This is gonna be the game that makes Remedy a juggernaut in the gaming industry. They have always been a honed underdog it seems like. I'm glad that Control brought in more people to experience my favourite video game story. Stephen King and David Lynch being favorite mediums of mine, and a love of gaming, makes Alan Wake an S tier experience for me. I'm beyond grateful Remedy has created a work of fiction like this. Been a fan of Remedy's work since the first Max Payne on PC. It's surreal seeing how far they've come throughout the years with Alan Wake, Quantum Break and Control and having Sam Lake now sit in the position of Creative Director after seeing him start as the facial likeness and writer of the original Max Payne games.
Where did Alan wake go for 13 years? He went deep sea diving into darkness. That's where he went.

In the interviews they say that its about 50/50 so you can consider them both main characters, not just Alan. But, I'm happy, since this way we also get a perspective into the real world
Alan and Saga are 2 main characters of this sequel, 2 campaigns that can be played individually with Alan or with Saga or directly alternate between one and the other where there is the main story, the experience with both protagonists and their story.

Theory: Alan created or “altered” Saga into existence to rescue him but the twist will be Alan had to create the murders that set the events in motion that got her to Brightfalls.
I think Saga always existed. The powers of the Dark Presence can only nudge things into a certain direction, but it can’t create from nothing. So Saga really is an FBI agent well before, but the ritualistic murders Alan wrote about is the circumstance that brings her to Bright Falls. Much like how Thomas Zan lane probably wrote about Alan Wake going to the town
Alan brought Alex Casey into existence and partenred him with Saga. After Casey dies (because he was never real to begin with), this will motivate Saga into investigating Bright Falls and eventually getting Alan out of the Dark Place
Man, if that were the twist of the game it would definitely suck, at least for me who has already seen al the Remedy side-content leading up to Alan Wake 2 because all of this is something we already knew.

From the start the premise of having two playable characters caught my attention, this well done could lead to a very good story. Then at minute 2:40 when she says a woman of color in the role of protagonist that we don’t see often, there, just there, the cassette starts to scratch very ugly and it gives the impression that the only reason she is there is to mark an inclusivity checkbox? I don't care in the slightest if she's female, male or a chicken, or African-American or Chinese or Australian or Congolese or Greenlandic, it's enough that she's a competent FBI agent, a loving mother, and that her character is well written. Now a ref flag has turned on for me and I go from super hyped up to carefully optimistic. I hope that everything goes well and that it is not one of those cases of a perfect woman in everything that completely replaces the male character and makes him look ridiculous.
@@danyknight9107 When I heard that she was a mother, it was a very "Ooo that's interesting, not much of those in games". Very interesting point of view. I don't personally think this is a check box thing, probably just an actress thing. I do hope that she isn't a perfect character though, and has flaws like Alan does. Control was great, but one thing I was iffy about was how Jesse was a pretty two dimensional character.
Still hyped personally for this game. Even if that was their motive, it most likely wont have anything to do with the game:D

Can‘t wait for the game and I really hope that Filippo gets to give us a flawless HDR implementation right on from release. Native black levels and perfectly popping highlights can be such an enhancement to the immersion and his reworked mod of Control was brilliant. More of that! 👏

A main characters need flaws in order to be relatable. I don't like when they introduce a new character and is all positive words to describe them, I rather see them in action and find out myself.
Alan worked for me because I did't know anything abot him. He was a simple man (a writer) in a world of horror and he needed to adapt to save his wife and friends.

To be honest, I really like Saga and her story in Alan Wake 2, didn't think about any of the "woman, or woman of color specifically" kind of stuff while playing it, I simply took her as a character and enjoyed it... then I found this video. Was it really necessary to mention it how crucial those traits are?? Can't we just make characters like this without constantly bolstering about race and sex? The year is 2023 - women of color are put everywhere in mainstream media, even to the roles of characters that were created as white (not even mentioning how they are forgetting to include other races, like Asian women... I guess they are not enough "of color"). The importance of those mentions kind of lost on its once powerful meaning.
Why not make Alex Casey playable as well? Perhaps remedy have bigger ideas for him in future installments?

Maybe I should not mention this, but I'd love to see a public map editor for the players to use for Alan Wake. That will allow for new ways to play and experience, more and more Alan Wake scenarios.

A few months ago I bought Alan Wake remastered on PC. Yesterday I finally installed it and for my complete disappointment the game has very frequent graphical glitches. I searched about it and lots of people have the same problem. It's something specific of the pc version. There's no adjustment in the graphics settings of the game that fix it. My setup is superior than the recommended. It's just unplayable and I can't get a refund from epic because it has passed much more than 14 days. Now I have a game that I spent money on it but I can't play it. It's just unbelievable that a company launch a game in this state and never fix it. I was thinking about buying the PS5 port but I don't think that's fair, they will get my money twice (3 if we include de xb360 version I paid full price back there) on the same game.
If we were going to get a new character added that plays the role of a detective why didn't we get Alex Casey the character from Alan Wakes books who is a detective based on a pi.

I love the first game and want the second one to do good as well but this just screams to me, we got another Ray Skywalker situation on our hands. A new character that no one knows or cares about shows up in the film/game with pre-established characters, but they are what the is focused on (not the mc) and they are just better at everything than the mc. Also they are always morally superior to the mc can have no flaws and have to save the mc constantly but never get saved by the mc because they could handle it on their own even if we previously established the mc as a chosen one type character this new character is just better than them.

Stephen King and David Lynch being favorite mediums of mine, and a love of gaming, makes Alan Wake an S tier experience for me.
