    Sam Lake is just one of the best game writers of this generation.
    I think it's insulting to call him the European Kojima, not because he's better or worse by any means, it's just like that there is no one like Kojima as much as there is no one like Sam Lake.

    I was originally really disappointed when they showed that it would be 2 characters and two separate narratives and now I'm so happy they did that. 1. Saga's story is extremely fun to play through. I'm actually enjoying her side almost more than Alan's. And 2. 16:30 the dev mentions how it was important to get both worlds in the game, and that hadn't even crossed my mind. If we got AW2 13 years later and the whole game took place in the dark place with Alan trying to escape and we never got to see Bright Falls in this new engine it would be a huge disappointment.

    one thing i specifically love about AW2 is how in most of the game you can CHOOSE to switch between Saga and Alan’s POVs when you want to! in most games with multiple POVs or main characters (especially cinematic games) there is no way to choose how you want to pace out each character’s arch, or what sections you want to play at different times, and that can make you feel railroaded or maybe even bored if you’re just not in the mood for that specific vibe.
    while i love both the mind-bending spirals of the dark place and Saga’s methodical searching and discovery through Bright Falls, they are two very different types of gameplay with distinct pacing and mood. either would get tiring if we had to play one in its entirety before playing the other, or could be frustrating if remedy had decided when we had to be in either perspective and we personally didn’t like how they spaced the sections out. being able to choose elevated this game a lot for me.
    i found myself in AW2 switching quite frequently because i loved both stories so much and would be wondering about how the developments on Saga’s side effected Alan’s side and vice versa. or in playing through one side I’d have time to ruminate on some of the stuff from the other side, and then come to a conclusion or theory about the side i wasn’t playing that I wouldn’t have thought of if I didn’t get the time to step outside of it for a while.
    it’s all very fucking cool and extremely well done.

    This is very early on the video but the line "it's a story you're not told, it's a story you play" resonated so much to me after finishing the game and remembering all my journeys with the multiple Remedy games. I feel like this is low key been my constant thing with their games even if sometimes the games don't feel the most bombastic over the top famous games of all time like GTA or something. There's an intimate quality to playing and experiencing it that's truly meaningful over time to me.

    It still feels unreal that the game exsist. That it is amazing. The graphics, story, characters, atmosphere, game mechanics, sound design. The story expamded amd impoved. The characters too. The world is beautiful. I fell in love with Alan wake. Loved everything I named about Alan wake 2 in Alan Wake 1 aswell. It was so orginal and unique. Had a great story, characters and atmosphere. Love the setting of Bright Falls. The game mechnics were fun. It had good horror elements and it told a great story. Also about halfway through they cranked up the intensity and amount of taken trying to ambush you. It was a unique experience. I pretty much gave up on a sequel. After playing it and beatng it on normal. Then on hard 2x collected all the stashes, nursery rhymes, amd lunchboxes and now I'm just past the 1st overlap on NG+ I am not disappointed. I love the game. It went in a different direction than I expected. The story and the characters but not in a bad way. The swap to survival/horror was the right move. The boss fights are all fun and different from one another. Saga amd her game mechanics are fun and smart ideas. Alan Wakes Mechanics and world is also very cool. The story wouldn't have worked without a second protagonist.. i didn't know how I felt about it at first but with the story they are telling it was the best choice. The seamless transition from game to live action is a great idea and it is orginal. There is plenty of horror. Intense moments. Weird moments. Confusion and mystery. It still feels unreal that after 11 years (played Alan Wake for the first time in 2012) and pretty much giving up on this game that it finally happened and it lived up to the hype. For me at least

    Saga actress is great but you could really tell her American accent was fake. Especially when she would say “Anderson”.

    • @UberNoodle

      It's not "fake". It's acting. You must have a terrible time watching movies considering that so many actors play characters with different accents to their own native one.

    This game was a chore to get through. I didn’t care about anyone and it wasn’t visual enough in any original way to pull me through. The writing was eye rollingly shit. The first game was much better because at least it embraced itself as a video game. And the mystery was fun. Video games compared to proper films are really embarrassing. And yet people seem to love this game? It’s very confusing. It was genuinely crap.

    I really enjoyed this game overall. Got spooked several times and that paranoia they mention definitely got to me as well. Such a twisting story and I really enjoyed it. Tickled my brain in just the right way. The only thing I could've used more of was time with Wake. I enjoyed what we had, but after 13 years, of course I'm going to want more of him. :)
    Thanks for all the behind the scenes! Lovely seeing so much cast and crew together talking about this.

    • @curiositytax9360
      @curiositytax9360 8 месяцев назад

      More video games should be made with story as focus but this game was not that good. Art? You sound just as pretentious as this game was. Eye rollingly bad at times and it became deathly boring as it just felt like one big cutscene. They tried to copy what Lynch does or Nic Roeg and it was quite frankly embarrassing. The dark place? Mr scratch? All terrible ideas. I just wanted it to end.

    • @angeljimenezmarte29
      @angeljimenezmarte29 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@curiositytax9360 I understand your point of view and also your feelings towards the game, since the first ending is somewhat bland. Remember that we all have different points of view. I don't mean to be pretentious, many concepts of this game were already carried by the first one so they had to follow those steps.
      For me, personally, at Remedy they are artists in their own way and I have a lot of appreciation for them since the 2000s when I met them.

It's really rare to have such a long-time working relationship where you kind of work in each others' pockets like they do, and they clearly love it. I hope they're able to stay at it for a long time to come.
