No theatrics, no boob and butt-baring costumes, no pyro, no auto-tune - just very talented people playing and singing. My favorite kind of music. And at the end of the day the only kind of music that matters, and that will last.
Exactly. I completely agree. I know myself that when I used to perform using butt baring costumes that it just didn't work. Plus, my pastor told me it just wasn't appropriate for church service. I do agree with you though.
@@jeffreyhall5586 And I have performed nude. The shower screen didn’t like it much though. Yes, seekers are real music.
I was about to make a comment then read this no need now you said it all
Amen! Music was the focus of the talent then, not current (and near-past) corporate creations with minimal talent designed to sell streaming subscriptions to benefit only the companies. Artistry and talent ruled until "disco" in the 1970's and it has all been largely downhill since. "Auto-tune" = farce.
A favorite band from my childhood spent raiding my parents' old albums.
We lost Judith yesterday..She personified talent, beauty and poise......Her voice unparalleled.....We'll miss you Judith.....Sing with the angels....
So sad I just heard this
Oh noo. Sad 😥 Judy had such a crisp beautiful voice.
Judith Durham has the voice of an angel. Perfect pitch.
And one of the most recognizable singing voices in the world. The guys are fabulous too. this is sort of anthem of the mid 1960's and takes me back to childhood memories, in a alternate universe from today.
The most recent live performance videos on RUclips show them much much older and sounding exactly the same. Great group.
Proud to call them Australian
She just passed away yesterday. 🥺
This was the sound of my childhood. I felt so sad to hear that Judith Durham, the lead singer, had just died.
The Seekers were a great Australian folk pop band from the 60's. And Judith Durham had such a beautiful voice. They had so many great hits including "A World Of Our Own", "Georgy Girl", "The Carnival Is Over", "Morningtown Ride", "Someday, One Day" etc. They have beautiful voices & harmonies. They don't make nostalgic music like this anymore. Reminds me of a simpler time.
My parents' song. Reminds me of being a kid while they played this and decorated the house. I miss you dad and I'm looking after mum ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Haven't heard this for a long time. So pure, so beautiful, actually getting a bit teary eyed here. Please keep bringing back the 60s. There is still SO much you haven't heard. Thanks for bringing this one back.
what a voice she has that is some achievement to have a voice like that awesome
Judith Durham one of the best voices ever. So pure and emotional.
My grandma sang this to my grandpa while and after his passing from COVID,
Ever since I was a kid this is one of my favorites. Judith's voice just cuts through so beautifully.
I have been requesting this for such a long time. These guys are incredible.
“The Carnival Is Over” is another brilliant song by them. There’s another colour video (from the 60’s) of them singing this song. ✌️
loved Morning Town Ride
For their finale farewell concert you see Judy, in her late 70's have to use a chair to keep herself propped up. Yet they give a stunning performance of the song I am an Australian. She sounds like she is 22 years old.
Scott, Judith is 78 NOW their final concert was in 2014 Judith was 70 ! Never saw her using a chair to hold herself up in thier final tour !
@@richardpeddie2060 I got the date wrong yes. Look at time shot 1:22. She is leaning back on a chair due to the stroke she had. That's what I read. On shot 2:47 she is now sitting on the chair.
Judith died about 3 weeks ago. A beautiful voice. RIP Judith!
She was 70 in 2013
Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley are their names. They were amazing, no matter what they sung.
Just heard Judith has passed. Such a sad loss and a glorious voice. One of the few singers who was pitch perfect....R.I.P Judith....🙏🙏
Man her voice just cuts through.. such an amazing singer. They all are.
I was a teenager when this song was out. Today it brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it
She was a beautiful and talented person! RIP. She will be missed. 💔💔💔
Love The Seekers Songs. Judith"s voice tends to harmonize and be distinctive without overpowering the harmony.
This was done at the abbey road studios, famous for the Beatles recording there. Judith Durham is a pocket rocket, with such a strong voice. Did you notice they all played this and sang it together, no layering or blending tracks, on a huge tape machine, that used reels of tape. The large instrument is a double bass. After Judith quit, she had self-esteem issues, the new seekers formed as a tribute band.
She just passed away today God bless her Spirit & Soul. That's when singing was singing. Thank God I was born in that time R I P
The Seekers outsold the Beatles in 1965. Judith Durham had a very unique voice, loved them.
I did not know that but I am not surprised.
Thats simply not true, in fact it`s not even close. The Seekers had two number #1 records in 1965 and combined they were at number 1 for 5 weeks. The Beatles had 3 Number 1 records and in total were at Number #1 for 11 weeks.
That's in the UK but I would imagine it would be very similar in other countries.
@@telstar4772 The Seekers starred in the New Musical Express 'All-Star Poll Winners Concert' at Wembley along with many other iconic Sixties legends like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds and The Who… and they outsold them all in the first six months of '66.

@@1tommymulligan Can you please get your facts right, firstly you say they outsold the beatles in 65 , then you say they outsold the beatles in the first 6 months of 66 ?.
Which do you mean?.
Also Australian groups/singers topping other country charts is an irrelevant fact.
I had forgotten The Seekers which was one of my favourite groups, I love Judith's voice and the wonderful harmonies. They had many hits in the 60's Jayvee and you will enjoy them as many of us do. Thank you for reminding me of this wonderful group, I am happy that other people will listen and hopefully enjoy them. God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK
React to other hit songs 'Georgy Girl' and 'The Carnival Is Over'. Extraordinary talent from the Aussie quartet which you can't find these days.
"Georgy Girl" by the Seekers
You got it when you mentioned the harmonies. That's what really grabs me with the older songs. I was probably too young to truly appreciate this when it came out but it is a song that can grow on you over time.
The Seekers were an awesome folk band from Australia and Judith Durham for such a tiny lady had a very powerful and beautiful voice. They had several pop songs that charted. Another good one is Georgy Girl. I believe the guitar player with the 12 string, Keith Potger, formed a new group after the Seekers disbanded, and called that band The New Seekers. 👍
@@jamespasifull Potger was initially supposed to be in the band but wound up not being
Bruce wrote a song for The New Seekers…Eighteen Carat Friend , from the Beautiful People L.P. Of 1971 ( with lead vocals by Marty).

Judy Durham has such a beautiful strong voice, always dug it. Georgy Girl probably their biggest hit but I love this. The 60s had a plethora of great singers and songs. My favorite decade, glad I grew up then
Me too...that Era was so good.
This song came out in 1964 & so sad that Judith passed away recently. What an amazing lead singer she was & ofcourse the rest of the band - just EXCELLENT!!!
This song is so beautiful. You should listen to their song, "World of our own". It's pretty too.
And 'The Carnival is Over'.
One of Australia's greatest.
Peerless.
My favourite song is Carnival is Over!
Agreed. Judith Durham has no peers.
Rest in peace Judith Durham, who passed away last week aged 79. A beuutiful human being with the voice of an angel. Heavens choir has a new heavenly voice.
Absolutely beautiful woman, with a beautiful voice. May she rest in peace.
These four make the original group. Judith left in 1968 to sing on her own. Various replacement singers made the New Seekers. In 1993 these four made a 25 year anniversary tour and in 2013 a 50 year tour. Over the years they maintained their friendship in Melbourne and were friends to the end. The three men were high school buds and thought of Judith as their kid sister (She was the youngest.)
The world truly lost a beautiful voice. Judith passed away recently. My husband introduced me to all different types of music. Including this group and song . We introduced our son to instruments, music from the time he could walk . I love how these tutorials show your reaction.
This beautiful woman has just passed. God Bless Her. We loved her wonderful voice with The Seekers. We will miss her music but we will miss her more. Love X.
The New Seekers were a pop band formed in London in 1969 by Keith Potger after The Seekers broke up. they tried to apeal to the same crowd as the original Seekers. Good reaction vid!
Judith just recently passed away 8-5-2022. A very sad day for me. Their music all time is so perfect. Often times melancholy.
Natural talented Australian group. Sadly, Judith (female vocalist) just passed away a few weeks ago. RIP, Judith, you are now singing with the angels. React to the Seekers: "I Am Australian", which is like a 2nd national anthem in Australia.
Glad you appreciated them. I love The Carnival is Over ❤️
The lyrics are so amazing and beautiful, it makes me cry.
The song was written and produced by Tom Springfield the brother of singer Dusty Springfield.
Beautiful song with amazing singer/s!
R.I.P Judith Durham ! 🌹🌹🌹 XxX
I was just a tot back then but I remember these folk songs, and hearing the Seekers somehow takes me back to that time. Georgy Girl was another of theirs that is engraved in my mind.
These old, precious songs .. They'll never happen again. Cherish them...
Reminds me of "Cherish" by the Association..
"...simple but compact..." Yes!! I always admire how well you articulate your reactions and put into words how a song makes you ( and me) feel. Thanks!😀
Groups like the Seekers seem to make their music seem so simple & effortless while we know it isn't.
RIP Judith Durham, a voice from my childhood.
The Seekers were a great group and Judith Durham had a voice from heaven. She just passed a week ago. Please review their song "We Are Australian". What a beautiful song!!
Our Aussie legends whom were the first group to make it big in the UK. At a time where The Beatles were dominant. Some people were craving something different to rock...in came The Seekers.
They've written legendary songs which are classics, especially, I am Australian, which many Aussies believe should be our national anthem. They've retired now as they're in their senior years
Their early hits, including this one, were written by Brit Tom Springfield, Dusty Springfield's brother. And it was him and Carry On actor , another Brit, Jim Dale, who co-wrote Georgy Girl.
You should search for, “The seekers, 1994 AFL grand final.” They sing their top hit, “Georgie Girl,” which is an incredible song. Then if you want to talk about emotional, they also sing, “I am Australian.” Even your fellow Americans get choked up over that one. This is followed by an Australian classic called, “Waltzing Matilda. Then they do a fabulous job of singing the Australian national anthem. They are obviously a lot older in this video, but their sound has not changed one little bit.
If you want to know about AFL, Australian rules football, the most exciting game on the planet, search for, “What is AFL?” Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
RIP Judith. We Sing with 1 voice! You will be missed.
This song makes me very emotional. Lovely performance. The Seekers and the New Seekers were two different groups.
The guys' harmonies are rarely mentioned but are not only top notch but distinctive. A sound of their own. It was nice to have that acknowledged by our man above.
I love watching younger people reacting to the music of my youth and are blown away by it.
Beautiful singing, wholesome theme, pure talent, gorgeous harmonies - gold old 60s folk music, can’t be beaten. Well done, Jovaughn!
A kindness and humbleness to match that awesome voice. Ironically, Judith passed away just a couple weeks after you posted the video. And she was so loved by her bandmates, whose harmonies were great.
Yes SIMPLE - Compact - but BEAUTIFUL...!!! : )
My mum had this record she always sang this x
An angels voice, may she rest in peace with the love she shared.
"I wanna listen to this again!" yep...I think most of us did when we first heard it.
Brother, I agree with you 100%. Great group, great song. Judith RIP
I just finished watching a Vocal Analysis Video of Judith Durham when I spotted this video. She definitely an Aussie Icon and out Original Pocket Rocket. At one stage they outsold The Beatles. They did make an unforgettable come back in the early 90's with one of their Biggest Hits in Australia. Many Aussies want it as Our New National Anthem "I Am Australian". Many reactions have recently discovered that song, which you don't have to live here to appreciate. Unlike America we don't Label People based on their decent unlike African American etc. No matter where you're from we're all Just Aussies. We also adopt people as Honorary Aussies as well, so long as they conform to our standards of behaviour. If you're a Modest, Down To Earth, Warm Friendly Person who'll stop to say "Hello!" or stop to talk with anyone your in. No matter who you are an Overinflated Ego will get you into trouble. This includes our Celebrities including Chris Hemsworth and Hugh Jackman. So long as your Respectful, don't Mob them asking before going for an Autograph or Selfie they're usually happy to give you one. Of course not everyone is like that unfortunately. But if we see or hear someone being Offensive, we won't let them get away with it. At the very least they'll got a firm talking to. I remember once when an Openly Racist Politician was running for office. A National News Crew turned up at His home 🏡 for an interview. They gave him enough rope and he hung himself. He wasn't elected.
I grew up with this music you would love a world of our own and Georgy Girl ! Judith has one of the all time great voices
Judith Durham has passed, and the world is poorer for the loss.
There are a handful of female vocalists from that era whose voices inspire us beyond ordinary experience, to something greater: Karen Carpenter, Olivia Newton-John (also recently passed) and Judith Durham. They were gifts from heaven, and now they're gone.
RIP beautiful lady. Passed away August 5 2022.
Simple, elegant, beautiful ... yeah, we need more like this. :)
Was there in Brisbane for their final performance, Judith had recovered from a stroke and had to learn to sing again and by God she did “ I am an Australian “ brought the house down
they did a stint on an Andre Rieu 2011 concert, and her voice was still amazing !
Rest in Peace Judith! Austrailia's greatest group. This was this biggest hit, but so was Georgy Girl.
I've always loved this song, but it's more special to me now because it was the first song that played in my car after my dad's funeral and obviously invoked lots of tears
So sorry for your loss Wendy! We sang Amazing Grace at my mum’s funeral, so every time we sing it at church, the tears stream down my face! The Seekers were my favourite when I was growing up! Peace and Blessings to you and your family! P.S. Us Wendy’s have to stick together!
@@wendyryder2708 amen to that!
A truly beautiful song from the 60's. So much good music came from the 60's. There's a reason you hear many commercial that use 60's music, and even some from the 50's. Great review Jayvee😊
Just love Judith's voice!
One of your BEST reactions ever brother! Therefore it's one of my favorites as well. lol
There were two groups: the Seekers and the New Seekers. When the Seekers broke up, Keith Potger formed the New Seekers but they weren't as successful. RIP Judith Durham who died this year only days before the death of Olivia Newton John. xxx
This was my mother in law's "song" with her ex. She still cried when she heard it 25 years after he left her :(
You had a better Mother-In-Law than me !
One time I was with my wife and we saw 6 guys beating my Mother-In-Law in the street, my wife said "Aren't you going to help?" and I replied "NO! 6 should be enough:)
Soon after Judith went solo, Keith Potger formed 'The New Seekers', which had a few songs featured in radio airplay in the early 1970's. I remember just 2 of them; 'Where in the world', and 'All my life's a circle', out of several productions. I can't remember the female lead vocalist of them, but constantly wonder if it were Judith, would they too carry as much appeal as the original Seekers..?
The Seekers were a great folk/pop group, from Australia, back in my day. I love their songs and used to sing some of them. I was told once that I sounded like Judith Durham, the girl here. I agree about songs back in the sixties being so much more profound. I was lucky to be young at that time. So many great songs, so much great music. Nice to see the old upright bass too. :) Try their The Carnival is Over. The New Seekers were a completely different band.
I've always had a soft spot for 'The Carnival is Over'.
Me too always makes me cry 😢 🇦🇺
Pure talent! They actually sang, harmonized, and had lyrics! (Not out-screaming each other!) You said it, they had skill! Great reaction. 🙂
So happy to see you continue to enjoy the music of my younger days. The Seekers were from somewhere in Australia. They had some other pretty good songs, too. The Seekers remind me of Peter, Paul and Mary, The Kingston Trio, and The Brothers Four.
A blast from the past, thank you! I don't think i can say anything that hasn't already been said, but wanted to leave my two penn'orth.
The New Seekers were a different band from a generation or so later; they may have had one or more of the original band.
The New Seekers were put together in the belief that they could match The Seekers and fill the gap left, when they ended. They couldn't, they didn't, they never will. Judith Durham's voice is iconic. She did a farewell tour of Australia and New Zealand a few years ago. She was still recovering from a stroke, but her voice was the same. A truly lovely woman.
The music of my childhood……. So glad you enjoyed it.
The Seekers are the original band. Judith Durham left and Athol Guy and the other guys formed The New Seekers. Then they convinced Judith to come back many many years later to reform The Seekers.. The Seekers music is really timeless and Judith Durhams voice is stellar
The New Seekers were a UK band, with NO links to The Seekers.
From Wikipedia "The group was formed after the disbanding of the successful 1960s Australian group the Seekers. Keith Potger, a member of the Seekers, put together the New Seekers in 1969, featuring Laurie Heath, Chris Barrington, Marty Kristian, and Eve Graham and Sally Graham (no relation), the latter of whom was a member of The Young Generation. Potger himself also performed and recorded with the group.["

Judith Durham was 19 years old when The Seekers recorded this song, which went to Number 1 on the charts, ahead of a group called The Beatles and another group called The Rolling Stones. The recording engineers were clever (or lucky) to not allow Judith's voice to be overwhelmed by the rest of the music and accompanying vocals. Her subtle vibratto hooks me every time.
released in 1964 - I was 6 yrs old and had a 17 yr old aunt that lived with us. I knew all the new hits...and still know them. Good memories. Judy Durham was the female member - she recently passed away (August 2022).
She had the sort of voice you could listen to all day and not get tired of it...
This was the first record bought for me by my Gran, I was 8 years old and still have the single.
Judith rocks!
Thanks for your heart-felt appreciation of this music. You are so right. It's raw and beautiful. I wish we could hear it again, and I love all kinds of music so I'm not stuck in a time warp. You nailed it perfectly.
One of my favorite songs! Judith Durham's voice is angelic. Loved to see you singing along at the end. You should hear her sing "Danny Boy". Thanks for recognizing and appreciating this music:-)
I absolutely adore this song ❤️
I admire you for most young people wouldn't even try listening to older music. Great reviews!
