I'm watching this lady for the first time through your reaction, and all I can say is both of my Dobermans are looking at me like "dude, why are you crying?" Definitely a feel-good moment.
Susan has had a substantial recording career now. There are numerous other, more recent, videos of Susan, including one of her doing a splendid cover of the Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses" and one of her duetting with Elaine Paige, the theatre singer she says she wants to be like in the audition you've just reacted to. Beautiful to see. She didn't win BGT that year (2009) but she did finish second, and runners-up often have more enduring success than champs do on those shows...Susan has four or five albums now to show for her gutsy star turn in that first audition.
Not only did she not win, but it is SIMON who signed her to a recording & performance contract! You know that man won't sign just anybody. She said she wanted to be a huge star singer. She sang she wanted to escape the hell she was living. She became very famous with a string of hit albums and Simon Cowell watched over her well. She still lives modestly but she’s a wealthy woman. I’m a fan.
As the song says, “Video Killed the Radio Star”. So many acts from the 70s wouldn’t have succeeded if they had to get through the MTV image machine. This woman is fantastic. 💜
I miss ugly musicians. The obsession with image is discriminatory and limits our exposure to talent. Imagine if it had been like this in the 70s - what classic music would we have lost?
I’ve always thought that too. It’s sad that there are so many people who should be given a chance because of their phenomenal talent, but don’t have the “look.”

Yes. Piers Morgan says at the end "nobody's laughing now", but he's wrong. They're laughing...for the opposite reason. They had been laughing with each other at Susan. By the end they're laughing joyously with Susan at themselves. One of the most beautiful sequences on RUclips ever.
The first time I saw this video, I didn’t know what to expect. When Susan sang, I was just like the audience, crying. Her voice is like an angel. To take from Martin Luther King, just by the content of their character, not what they look like. Something that we all forget from time to time
That performance still brings a tear to my eye no matter how many times i watch it, My 3 sons and daughter were in the audience that night in Glasgow and came home and told me she was brilliant so i had to watch it,and by the way the biggest injustice in TV was she never won the Final and lost out to a dance group
Well I think the editing though made it seem like the audience was more cynical than it actually was. Often reactions of audience members do not happen at the time they do on the show's final broadcast. Others have talked about how they will often completely change the appearance of how things actually went down on such shows. But hey, it sure did turn her life around, so for Susan it was not negative. But others really got screwed over by being shown in a very negative light that was untrue.
@@JayveeTV Maybe you didn't expect much from her but, you didn't react like a lot of people did. I know how it feels to be judged by strangers. You didn't laugh at her or roll your eyes. She did not win, but she did not have to; she conquered the world with that song. Imagine millions of people watched that performance live. She became an overnight sensation and huge star. I hope he will follow up to see how she looked after her makeover and recording contract. She has done a lot of traveling and has platinum records. She is enjoying her fame but has not really changed much except everywhere she goes her fans recognize her and ask for autographs. She is less lonely with her new aquaintences, but she still lives in the small home she once shared with her parents and seven siblings! I just love her, and so do millions of others. She certainly melted Simon's cold heart. He became her manager for a while, and he has changed so much since this audition. He got married and is a father now!
I remember the buzz around this performance. I don’t care much for talent shows, and I resisted viewing this for a long while. When I finally gave in and watched it...😭😭😭 Every time I see it, I still get choked up and also inspired by her bravery in just going for it. Amazing to realize this was 11 years ago.
It seems that a lot of the successful contestants from these shows came in second. Jonathan and Charlotte, also on Britain's Got Talent came in second to a dog act. On America's Got Talent probably their most successful one was Jackie Evancho. She came in second and she was only 10 at the time. She's gone on to eight gold and platinum albums, PBS specials performances for presidents and royalty all over the world. It would seem that the producers of the shows recognize that these people will have successful careers ahead of them and let others win where this will be their only success.
I feel like they ripped her off giving her 2nd place! Simon though saw a diamond in the rough so to speak and signed her to his label almost immediately afterward.

This was many years ago. She went on to be very successful. Initially, during this series of AGT, her nerves got the better of her at each stage. She ended up having to be hospitalized from the strain of it all and a near breakdown. She has subsequently been diagnosed with Asperger's which explains everything. She's still a marvel!

What is mean is letting people harbor a false illusion, particularly when they don't possess the necessary talent. Better they should crash and burn up front then find out the hard way later.
So many years, know what’s coming, but still get goose bumps every single time.
I'm watching this lady for the first time through your reaction, and all I can say is both of my Dobermans are looking at me like "dude, why are you crying?"
Definitely a feel-good moment.
She didn't win BGT that year (2009) but she did finish second, and runners-up often have more enduring success than champs do on those shows...Susan has four or five albums now to show for her gutsy star turn in that first audition.
that's amazing
I’m so happy for her!
She went on the voice or AGT recently, saw Simon again, & got a golden buzzer!
Wild Horses is amazing by her. Nothing like it. Also “Cry Me A River”. Her first album was wonderful.
Not only did she not win, but it is SIMON who signed her to a recording & performance contract! You know that man won't sign just anybody. He wanted to be sure that whoever she signed with would not exploit her, but would give her a FAIR contract with REAL money & would actually help her learn how to be a performer & star. Lots of mentoring & tutoring.
19 million sold.. net worth £22m (and that's just one side of her) 👏 💕
For the year 2009 she was the best selling recording artist in the WORLD (sold more records than Taylor Swift, U2, Lady Gaga,Jay Z, even the special MJ album)
@No middle Ground 🙃

She lost BGT which is astonishing and shows they voted based on political correctness
oooh
As the old saying goes... “Don’t ever judge a book by it’s cover “ 🙌🏻
Couldn't agree more
Simon though is so judgy
@@minecraftgod7877 yes, his job on the show is to be a judge but sometimes he’s too rough on the contestants 👍🏻
I saw this live first time. She blow them out of the stage. Totally outstanding.
Unless it's a book😉
The massive smile on simons face seeing pound signs
Even the song she picked is perfect because she's talking about a "dream" that never was at that moment. It's a whole symbolism.
She said she wanted to be a huge star singer. She sang she wanted to escape the hell she was living. She became very famous with a string of hit albums and Simon Cowell watched over her well. She still lives modestly but she’s a wealthy woman. I’m a fan.
Susan Boyle is awesome
i love moments like hers, she showed the naysayers a thing or two
she sure did. She also gave alot of people hope
@@JayveeTV ...yes she did :)
As the song says, “Video Killed the Radio Star”. So many acts from the 70s wouldn’t have succeeded if they had to get through the MTV image machine. This woman is fantastic. 💜
wow you're so right
That was back when it was substance over style. Sadly it's now the complete opposite.
I always think of this song by the Buggles when I see someone like Susan. Media has a lot to answer for.
I still get shivers every time I hear this. She is an extraordinary woman!
I’ve watched this clip hundreds of times. I love it. This humble, talented lady grabbed our hearts that night.
I was in the audience for that show Susan's performance was breathtaking and I still get goosebumps whenever I hear her ❤️❤️❤️
It still makes me cry when I saw the way the judges & audience treated her. She deserves our utmost RESPECT.
@@mifnp8887 definitely I seen/heard it first hand then watched as their jaws hit the ground when Susan started was almost as beautiful as her singing!!!
Me too!
Her dream definitely came true. She’s become pretty famous in Europe.
I'm happy for her
World over, New Zealand 🇳🇿, Australia 🇦🇺, Canada 🇨🇦...
I've lost count of the times I've listened to this. It has been my favorite RUclips video since the first time I watched it right after her performance. She's become very successful. God bless her !!!
bless her indeed
I have watched her video probably 30 times since it was posted maybe 10 or more years ago, can't help myself. I'm addicted to her powerful and wonderful voice.
I remember when this 1st went viral. I had tears rolling down my face. So beautiful.
Every single time I watch Susan Boyle,I literally cry my eyes out.. One of the best auditions ever. She's now a millionaire. How about that? And she's still as humble,as that audition.. Thank so much for the reaction.♥️♥️
I love Susan ❤ Bullied & treated unfairly by others her whole life. She is a Famous Singer to this day ! Never Judge a book by its Cover. Great & Respectful reaction . Thank you !
Simon swoons. I cried. Musical perfection does that.
I agree
Yes, he gets a beatific look on his face that actually reminds me of Jovaughn's wonderful besotted expression in his Sarah Brightman reaction...
Simon's reaction was one of his best!!
@@StudeSteve62 Simon also got that total look of wonderment when Angelina Jordan sang Bohemian Rhapsody with the version written by herself. She has been a world wide success and we only discovered her on AGT this past year. She didn't sign with him much to his regret I am sure but she absolutely stunned him.
This still makes me cry lol. Just seeing how everyone was judging her hurts my heart, but she showed them!!
Yes. Piers Morgan says at the end "nobody's laughing now", but he's wrong. They're laughing...for the opposite reason. They had been laughing with each other at Susan. By the end they're laughing joyously with Susan at themselves. One of the most beautiful sequences on RUclips ever.
Yea it’s disgusting and a bit embarrassing to see it. They are representing Britain and act like that 😒 but you’re right, she showed them 👏
I can watch this a million times and a million times this will bring tears to my eyes..
Susan is a beautiful soul, and despite being a millionaire she refuses to leave the home she's lived in her whole life. A modest and talented lady.
The audience and judges' reactions....I cry and get the chills every time. The love that poured from the audience was fantastic.
Gets my vote for Best moment in TV history
The first time I saw this video, I didn’t know what to expect. When Susan sang, I was just like the audience, crying. Her voice is like an angel. To take from Martin Luther King, just by the content of their character, not what they look like. Something that we all forget from time to time
thats a great quote to sum this up
Loved when she was invited to Windsor Castle to perform in front of Queen Elizabeth and sang "Mull of Kintyre" written by Paul McCartney.
that's a huge deal I'm proud of her
Wow! That is amazibg that she sang for Her Majesty the Queen.
For the Queens Jubilee and in Glasgow for the Queen Entrance. Can't forget she sang for the Pope too!
This is iconic in Britain, I remember when this was first broadcast over ten years ago.
wow I didn't know it was that historical
@@JayveeTV Everybody watched this. I am from Guatemala, and this audtion was everywere.
You've got such a lovely way about you Jayvee and come across as a really decent man. I really like this site and you have cheered me up - thank you.
That performance still brings a tear to my eye no matter how many times i watch it, My 3 sons and daughter were in the audience that night in Glasgow and came home and told me she was brilliant so i had to watch it,and by the way the biggest injustice in TV was she never won the Final and lost out to a dance group
They seriously underestimated her
They did tbh i really wasn't expecting much at first too
Well I think the editing though made it seem like the audience was more cynical than it actually was.
I watched you and you were very open to her without judging outright or making a foolish statement before she began, That's the mark of a good man and a sweet human being. Keep on being you, your a good guy. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :)
I agree you are a good young man J
I hate that one girl in the audience who rolls her eyes when she says she wants to be a professional singer before she’s even sang one word, would love to see her reaction afterwards!
Dear, sweet Jay! You didn't disappoint with this reaction. But I already knew how it would be. And it was SO great to see your face light up when you heard her. And you had a look of sheer wonder, but at the same time, a look that said you were SO happy for HER. THAT'S what we love about you, Brother. You've got SUCH a good heart. This reaction thrilled MY heart.
I love Jay too. He is awesome.
The best audition ever!!!
Susan Boyles cover of “Wild Horses” (studio version) will bring a tear to your eye.
Oh wow I’ve never heard it but will check it out 4sure. TY and happy new year!🎈🎆🎊
it's hauntingly beautiful.shes unreal.
Even Mick Jagger says her version is beyter than the Rolling Stones!
Just fantastic
Yes!
I never get tired of seeing this. I love this song.
She is perfect expression of what a real beauty is.
She really has an amazing voice. Goes to show you should never judge a book by its cover. The look on Simon's face is priceless.
Hey Jay!! She's a perfect example of don't judge a book by it's cover. I admire her for following her dream. Great reaction as always!! ❤🎵
Thank you
She's got a voice like a bell. I love her. Check out her appearance on AGT:Champions.
Susan eventually came second on Britain's got talent. She had huge success with her albums in the UK and US and became a millionaire. 🙂
wow her dream came true
It seems that a lot of the successful contestants from these shows came in second. Jonathan and Charlotte, also on Britain's Got Talent came in second to a dog act. On America's Got Talent probably their most successful one was Jackie Evancho. She came in second and she was only 10 at the time. She's gone on to eight gold and platinum albums, PBS specials performances for presidents and royalty all over the world. It would seem that the producers of the shows recognize that these people will have successful careers ahead of them and let others win where this will be their only success.
@@JayveeTV Do a search on youtube as she eventually sang a duet with Elaine Paige, her Idol.
I feel like they ripped her off giving her 2nd place! Simon though saw a diamond in the rough so to speak and signed her to his label almost immediately afterward.
The group that came first did alright for themselves too! 😆
She had been a caregiver for her Mother for years. This brings tears to my eyes. I was so happy for her with the rave reviews from the audience and judges. Doesn't get any better than this. Thank you so much for watching this with us. ❤
Susan Boyle was the personification of the old saying "Never judge a book by its cover". She has the voice of an angel. :)
I was stunned. I still am every time I watch it.
Not afraid to admit i shed a tear the first time i saw this , and hearing the bullying she had put up with growing up and even when she older.
I remember this so well i thought the judges acted in a disgusting manner never judge a book by it’s cover Susan Boyle new she was going to blow the roof off Susan Boyle became a world wide sensation she’s loved all around the world such a beautiful treasure
Susan has done sell out tours in the USA. Her version of The Rolling Stones song Wild Horses is superb.
Susan became number 1 in 40 other countries even had a part in a Christmas film what a lady this lady didn’t do it for the money she just wanted to sing she is an inspiration to the world
I still get the goosebumps every time I see this.she did 🏆win.i was also so proud she is Scottish
This is one of the most uplifting videos ever! The lyrics are so relatable, the music is soul-stirring, and when she reaches that crescendo, it is like frost shattering in the sun. Beautiful! We have all dreamed that dream and watched it fade in the hands of time.
She's had a net worth now if around $40 million with many albums
wow!
Yep the poor cat woman
Her brother tried to con the money out of her, she chased him.
She ended performing a duet with her idol Elaine Paige who she mentioned and everyone laughed.
She sold over 20 million albums .
I always love the way that she carries herself. And I think she's adorable, even on this original performance. She just has such a great spirit.
We humans are just terrible!! She’s an amazing singer!! So humble! I’m happy of her successful career!! Great reaction!!
thank you and I agree
Most legendary audition ever
She has the voice of an Angel.
Has to be the #1 best reality TV moment of all time. That SuBo video went viral faster than anything when it came out....
Jayvee, it caught the whole world off guard!!!
One of my favorite "Got Talent" performances. People, including the judges, laughed at her. She shoved it right back in their faces. Love it.
Such a precious, precious lady! Goes to show don't judge a book by it's cover! Many thanks, this always makes me cry. Go Susan!❤❤❤
I always cry when Susan sings!
Jayvee - If you haven't heard it already, you must: Charlotte & Jonathan - Britain's Got Talent 2012
Paul Potts as well!
Ohhhhh Jonathan Antoine. He's been the darling of the Toronto classical radio station recently. Marvelous voice coming from someone who (just like Paul Potts and Susan Boyle) doesn't at first glance fit the mold...but hey, who cares about the mold anyway...
Good suggestion.
Collabro as well!
That was awesome too. Jonathan shocked everyone. That's why you don't judge a book by its cover
I remember watching this i almost fell of the sofa. She is a star now bless her. But at first she could not handle the fame she had a break down. But thankfully she is fine now
And has been to the US many times. Great reaction Jay. Stay safe 😊💖
I've loved her voice since the first time hearing her years ago unfortunately people don't want to accept the fact you can really be able to sing & not look like what people think you should look like but that doesn't dimish you or your talents!! 💜
As a 60 year old man who has seen and enjoyed
this performance 100 times, in this world we live in today to see Jayvee try not to pre judge Susan but wish her well. His face is honest and sincere throughout and his Spirit shines through. We need more people like Susan (Who seems to be the same) and Jayvee.
She actually came in second for the season, but she has a very lucrative career, with Simon Cowell as her champion.
The music industry has put good looks over talent for years. Someone like Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison or Janis Joplin wouldn't get a contract nowadays.
Video killed the radio star
Not always. Susan is from Blackburn, a little village joined onto Bathgate, home to a young Mr Capaldi who’s talent and personality shone through ahead of looks too.
Buddy Holly was gorgeous! He married a Puerto Rican woman and punchrd one of his bandmates in the face for making a racist remark about her! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (an old-fashioned saying) and a lot of people found Buddy to be very attractive.
@@hooleyqueen You're missing the point. It's not about me calling Buddy Holly or anyone else "ugly". It's about music industry selling looks instead of talent, selling sex instead of music.
@@newstreetbridge834 Men always had it easier in the music industry
I get goosebumps every time I see her sing this bit. She really has a voice.
She’s now worth $40M US. I recon she deserves every Penny!
And now she is world-famous and worth millions! You go, Susan!
Susan had problems with her nervous system in the series and Simon was with her giving her support and caring. She is a wonderful singer and just wanted to be heard and have honest opinions and a chance to live her dream and oh has that sweet funny lady grabbed it by the horns bless her. She is a much loved performer here in the UK and has earned her success. God bless her and everyone, love hugs and peace Mary-Ellen UK
I'm bout to start a channel that shows me crying again at shit that I've seen 100 times. I mean ffs, how is Susan Boyle still making me leak from my eyes?
you're not the only one
@@JayveeTV Seriously, I watch Coldplay in Sao Paolo play Fix You and I cry everytime ... or the crowd in Hyde Park waiting for Green Day singing Bohemian Rhapsody ... or and on and on and on ... again and again.

Me too.
Every time.
She literally changed music industry! Definitely a model for everyone, I watch her audition when I need hope, love her ❤️
She is a
GLOBAL icon!!!!!!
She is fantastic love to hear her sing
"I was not expecting this." No-one was, that's what makes it all the more powerful, I think. They'd all prejudged her by her looks and had to eat everything back on the first note.
Susan's cover of the Rolling Stone's "Wild Horses" is fantastic!!
This video blew up the internet when it aired 11 years ago. Susan has gone to make 13 albums and has sold over 19 million copies. Never give up on your dreams! (she didn't win - she came in 2nd but the whole world fell in love with her and she's had a very successful career)
A fairy-tale ending can't ask for a better ending
Thank You for sharing this. She has sold millions of recordings world wide since doing this.
I remember watching this live on a Saturday night , we all thought the same and got a shock .
