Me & my friends sat in our apartment about 1/2 a mile from the venue, The Point Depot. I was a child in Ireland watching this live in 94 and seeing your reactions and you appreciating this beautiful dance all these years later brought a tear to my eye, thanks so much for sharing this and bring back lovely memories 🇮🇪💕
This was a very important moment for Irish pride as well as the entire Gaelic diaspora around the world. It took the cultural traditions and portrayed them in a modern form that felt epic and elegant and even sexy. I grew up with Celtic musical traditions, as part of the Celtic diaspora in Canada, and for our culture to suddenly become cool was a big moment. You might be interested in the recent rise of artists who fuse Celtic music with Indian music. I moved to a region of Canada with a large Punjabi population, and I learned about a local band called Delhi 2 Dublin that fused Irish sounds with Punjabi sounds as well as modern sounds, and it reignited by childhood interest in Celtic music. I've since learned about artists such as The Snake Charmer, and bands like Jiggy, that also combine Celtic and Indian music together. There's some commonality between the two cultures that makes the music fit together seamlessly and naturally, and it's beautiful to hear.
What fun to watch their enjoyment. When I saw this in the late 90's I was swept away. At the age of 48 I took up Irish Dance and even competed a bit. The one man made a good point; for the years I was dancing I was in the best shape of my life! Dance is a joyful thing😊
That is no easy task! To start that at 48 takes courage, and you competed. That's pretty amazing. I'm desperate to do adult ballet, just the barre exercises, but I use a wheelchair now, so I can't see it happening. On the odd occasion I make it to a concert or something, I'm still the first person dancing, just from the waist upwards! I'd love to have learnt Irish dance. I'm really impressed, I see why you'd be in such good shape.
There is a wonderful clip called "Tap vs. Irish Dance", in which two African-American tap dancers have a dance battle with three of the Riverdance dancers. It is an extraordinary display of mastery and showmanship. I'd love to see the boys here react to that clip. The battling and ultimately blending of the two art forms is unique and very beautiful; the display of physical prowess is awesome.

The dance doesn’t last an hour. Are you for real? This was designed as intermezzo for the Eurovision Song Contest. Dancing like this for one hour continuously would be killing yourself.

Seeing your focused appreciation for this unique dance form has been wonderful. Thank you for reacting to this! ❤
Watching them in person is amazing. I've seen them in person once, but there's Irish step dance performances all over. My cousin used to do it lol it's really impressive
Glad yall got to enjoy this form of dancing. I remember years ago when i first discovered it. There was one of their performances i believe was called Lord of the Dance and there was a rivalry act in the show. The 2 performers did a dance off and each time they would get faster and faster with their feet. It was amazing
I saw Riverdance in Perth Australia many, many years ago. That soprano voice haunts me even now. The hairs still stand up on my arms when I hear her. The dance and music were just incredible. A once in a lifetime experience.

It was my first time seeing or more like hearing River Dance as well so it was great experiencing together with the guys.
Riverdance raised the bar for mid-Eurovision entertainment ❤
I remember the first time I seen Riverdance I wasn't into watching the Eurovision I should have been out partying but I was sick . Riverdance blew me away and I cried at the end 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪💚🤍🧡🤘🤘
Watching it for the umpteenth time. I saw it on the night on TV with Terry Wogan's comments, priceless! There never has been an interlude while the votes are counted quite like that again.
Made millions when made into a show and seen all over the world. I love their comments. I've grown to love Bollywood dances too. Both superb in their own ways.
Oh yes terry and his famous commentary style
We took our youngest son to see Riverdance many years ago when he was preparing to start high school and enjoyed it so much. He sang with a touring choir both in and out of the country at that time and it was so great to see his appreciation of music, art and dance. Seeing your focused appreciation for this unique dance form has been wonderful. Thank you for reacting to this! ❤
Watching them in person is amazing. I've seen them in person once, but there's Irish step dance performances all over. My cousin used to do it lol it's really impressive
I love watching their reactions
they're so pure
Smiling from ear to ear watching these men smile.
How beautiful that we all, no matter our different cultures, languages and counties, felt exactly the same divine thrill. 💖
Oh, I love their reaction! Riverdance is just wonderful and captured people's hearts across the world!
As an Irishman it warms my heart to see you watch this ❤
Glad yall got to enjoy this form of dancing. I remember years ago when i first discovered it. There was one of their performances i believe was called Lord of the Dance and there was a rivalry act in the show. The 2 performers did a dance off and each time they would get faster and faster with their feet. It was amazing
Ils sont vraiment talentueux ! Bravo !
To see people from other cultures in awe of this brough a tear to my eye
That was a beautiful album to study to.... slip into spring was my favorite song..... glad you liked it.
I saw Riverdance in Perth Australia many, many years ago. That soprano voice haunts me even now. The hairs still stand up on my arms when I hear her. The dance and music were just incredible. A once in a lifetime experience.
The old gentleman feels every bit of it
Music, and our need to dance to it, is universal. It's in all of us. ❤❤
These sweet men are simply precious!❤😊
Great to see such a reaction. This was aired over 30 years ago in Ireland, during the Eurovision . All of ireland did 🎉a standing ovation, on the night.
