same..had my Vi for over two years now..other than pimax an even greater expensive more options like xtal. index is still the clear winner. amazing vr controllers, 130* FOV seems like everyone wants to stay with 100-110 and never go higher. and being limited with actual vr games, you dont need to spend 1ks for the higher end ones..index is still king what what we have as of now.
ya know why couldnt sony, just bump it up a little? 130* + or exceed make it 150+ fov. have a wireless version like quest..then this be the best VR Headset to ever be released , but it seems everyone wants to throttle vr, so they can keep releasing slightly better models during the years to sell the same thing over an over again

I'm fairly sure Tempest 3D Audio Tech is a dedicated GPU core (but without cache, or little cache -- well suited to streaming data), and an API allowing this core to be used for audio specialisation. It's a wonderful design inclusion incentivising developers to use the advanced audio features, rather than budgeting them with along-side graphics operations (that are likely to take priority). Audio matters, and in VR could offer a completely new layer of immersion (eg. ray-traced audio).
PC gamers should be very happy with the PSVR2, as it is likely to drive development of high end titles with advanced features: great graphics, ray tracing, 3d audio, just-in-time loading, etc. There's some great PC hardware coming, and having more games to take advantage of this hardware, is a great thing. I'm rooting for PSVR and VR in general!

Quick note, the haptics in the Sense controller won't actually be all that traditional, as they're using a voice coil actuator instead of a linear resonant actuator. VCAs use the exact same tech as in speakers, and are thus capable of a much wider range of sensations.

Do you think every ps5 is optimised independently or did you word that wrong? Consoles in general are usually way more optimised than PC.
Anyway the headset will run at full resolution it's silly to claim otherwise. They might run it at 45/60fps and use projection to get it to 90/120fps in some games tho.

    • @zig131

Will Sony support PSVR2 on PC? Almost certainly not. Like their consoles, it will be subsidised so they won't want people buying the headset off them for a great price only to buy games for it on Steam and therefore give them no further money.
Will the community and/or companies like Driver4VR support PSVR2 on PC? Almost certainly yes. The PS5 is basically a PC with no dedicated VR hardware. This is why it requires a converter box for compatibility with PSVR1. With what we know about PSVR2 - that is has inside-out tracking and connects via a single USB Type C - it is basically a PC VR headset with the tracking data from it's cameras combined with gryro data in the headset. While PSVR1 worked by sending the console a video stream and making it do the tracking, it would not be possible to stream video feeds from the multiple cameras down the one cable so the processing MUST be in headset.
All the community/Driver4VR will need to do is 'listen' to the USB connection and see what does what. Advanced features like the responsive trigger and vibration feedback may be harder to workout but it's likely work/experimentation with the PS5 controller could carry over. It's "just" a case of writing a driver for it. I use a PS Eye camera as a webcam thanks to a driver made by a 3rd party company - same deal.
While it's not in Sony's interests to put effort into supporting PSVR2 on PC, it's also not in their interests to put much effort into preventing support. The number of people that "hack" it to work on PC will be a drop in the ocean compared to those who buy one to use with their PS5 so no point in making things harder for themselves by obfuscating things.
So it won't be on PC at launch but I think there is sufficient demand for an affordable PCVR headset and seeing as PSVR1 was adapted to work on PC and PSVR2 is much simpler, we shouldn't have to wait too long.

I was so excited for this release around a year ago, but to me this feels like, to little to late. The specs arent that far ahead of a quest 2 and youll be stuck with it for 6-7 years. if this would have come out at launch, and not closer to 2 years later, I bet they could have owned the vr market. Now quest has a huge lead and with it being pcvr capable and cheaper with standalone and wireless bonuses, just makes this not all that appealing to me. Also who knows what cambria will bring spec wise, which could come out at around the same time. It definitely has eye tracking and looks to have some kind of full body tracking. It would just be a big investment of around 1k non scalped to get going, plus waiting for the new games to really take advantage of the hardware. I hope they surprise me, like I said I was really excited for this awhile ago. The fact that its not wireless I think will really hurt it, not sure what they were thinking, the quest can stream pcvr high res games wirelessly. It will come down to weather their exclusive games will be worth the 1k price point, because I bet a lot of developers will be porting their games to pcvr as well. I have a hard time believing this will be pcvr compatible, they would be competing with themselves for game sales that way with no revenue coming from the pc side, but anything's possible I guess, just think that would be big enough feature to make it into this announcement.

The machine plays games without the VR headset, the investment will most likely be around $500 for the headset.

So Im only looking at the package from a vr exclusive pov. I do look at my pc the same way and wouldnt spend your numbers of 2600 either for what I get out of it and I use a pc constantly for multiple things. You can build a mid range vrpc for around 1k (Again non scalped) and another 300 for a quest if your starting from scratch. Its all whats important to ya. for me I view its value from the exclusive games and hardware performance. What stands out the most to me for the psvr 2 is the increased fov from the quest, that I find really interesting. With that said, not being wireless will hurt it, I m guessing they did it just for weight savings of not putting a battery in it and that seems dumb to me. Hopefully they with come out with a battery version. Im not saying I wont get one, Im just not excited for it now and wont be waiting at launch to go grab one with these specs. So sony is definitely targeting a market I invest in. They want this add on to help sell systems over the long run or sony would have just come out with a standalone, which they probably will anyway at some point. The only real point I was trying to make was its specs wont hold up for its 6-7 year lifespan, by the time it releases it maybe a bit behind already in its market range. It would have had a huge advantage if it came out at launch and not 2 years later where it could of taken a much bigger bite of the vr install base. Even if you dont consider the price of a ps5, its value of around 500 for just the vr part doesnt hold up to me until I see some exclusive games for just the ps5 system that would sell me on even that investment. Just like re4 sold a ton of quests just for that game. My biggest worry as a big vr customer is spending the money for only a few exclusive games that could be better spent in other places, while that hardware just gathers dust in the corner, like my last consoles did. Just think about where vr was even 3 years ago to where its at now, its a huge gap in quality and I question at this point vr's ability to be competitive on a console without a different marketing strategy of around a 7 year life cycle. If sony announced they would come out with new updated or upgradable headsets every 2 years or so, that would be a big selling point to me for buying the ps5. I just think sony definitely targets me and people like me with this vr equipment, like they also target people that already own a ps5. whatever the case they make vr as a whole better, so I hope the succeed, even if they dont pull me in as a customer this round of consoles

Catch for OLED to offset the higher res is 1/3 of the led segments aren't lit, so really 1/3 less overall resolution. Better blacks, less resolution.

Working for PS tech support, it would be surprising if they don't make this PC compatible. As it will almost definitely use the USB-C connection, there's no real reason for them to not allow the hardware to work on PC - they allow the DualSense to work for example, and unlike the PS4 PSVR and it's ridiculous AUX port, there is no proprietary ports on the PS5 so... unless Sony decide to somehow lock the firmware of the HMD to REQUIRE the PS5 in some way.. I'm pretty hopefull.
Just don't call PlayStation Tech Support for help if you plug it into a PC - we won't!

I think it's a great idea and I think Sony would profit and benefit from this immensely, but only IF they would be very serious about VR. They seem to be but that doesn't mean they will.
But ya.. it would absolutely help their reputation get even further, as last generation they weren't too keen on a lot of cross-platform stuff. I think they really should do it.

Mike, I might have figured out a way to download files a wirelessly to the quest 2. First, download the developer hub. Second sign in and connect your pc to your Quest. Use a cable one time and make sure it works. Finally enable "ADB over Wi-Fi" and then you can drag and drop files. Note I don't think it lets you navigate file path though so it has its problems, but I bet you could figure this out and I would love to see you do something with it. Just look into it maybe.

I agree ! I was going to sell my PS4+psvr and buy a ps5+psvr2 but it’s too expensive right now and am going to get the giggle effect with only 110 degrees - I could buy a used pimax 5k plus with 200 degrees fov and a capable pc for the even cheaper or just wait a few years for the price to drop significantly .

    • @paulnicolas172
      @paulnicolas172 3 года назад

@@3adir_ i could ask the opposite question - why should i play flat games now once I experienced vr - why should I play games on a 2d screen a distance away when I can now be immersed in the game - only drawback right now especially with the psvr is the limited field of view and graphics just need to get better in the headsets that’s why I was complaining about the limited 110 fov on the psvr2 but am sure the vr games themselves will be very good with the power of the ps5 - I mean even with the psvr 1 some of the top games were on a par or even better than a lot of pc vr games - think astrobot rescue mission and wipeout for example- but the psvr1 headset let them down a bit with limited fov and resolution . So ps5+psvr2 just for vr is justified if they would of increased the fov otherwise am going to buy a pimax (200 fov) and capable pc.

If you don't have a PS5 your not the target audience unfortunately. Same as PCVR headsets being targeted towards PC gamers who already own a PC.
This is such a stupid argument it's like saying a controller is useless because you need to buy the console to use it.

This won't be any more successful than the 1st one if there's no PC compatibility. Was the 1st PSVR even profitable? You can buy an Oculus Quest 2 and use it completely self-contained, OR you can connect it to your PC and play Steam VR games like Half Life Alyx. I'll never buy a PS5 nonmatter how many exclusives they have. I HIGHLY DOUBT that Sony will allow PC compatibility because they are assholes. That's gonna be the make or break for the product.
