Can't say I agree, and I really want people to seriously reconsider their purchase. I got the Bigscreen myself a few months ago, and the amount of issues this headset has is astonishing. 1. the face cussing hurt a LOT, even after being replaced. It's also airtight, so a fan won't help at all with the fact that it gets hot very fast. In other words, you sweat like crazy and the airtight inside of the headset fills with fluid like leaking goggles in a pool. 2. the glare is TERRIBLE. Like, 3 times as bad as the index. 3. motion blur. This is something nobody talks about, but "due to the way micro oled works," whenever you move your head, everything gets blurry as hecc until you keep it still again. It's funny how a headset that is marketed to make you wanna move your head more will make you keep your head still to the point of your neck getting stiff. 4. the brightness is actually fine tbh, but the fov is so incredibly small. Even the quest 2s fov feel better than this. 5. The audio...if you don't like using headphones while in vr, just don't even think about getting it. Plus, the Bluetooth cause hella latency. 6. they get the ipd wrong on every second customer, which brings me to the following: On their discord (which you can only enter after having a verified purchase), 50% of people seem to have similar issues. So for 1k, or even more depending on where you live, there is a 50/50 shot that it will work for you. A headset that is advertised to have amazing clarity while making you move more, yet it gets blurry the second you move, and you sweat like you've never sweat before. A headset advertised to have amazing contrast and colours, meanwhile the glare is too much to handle even in no high contrast areas. I tried for 3 months to fix my issues with the support because THEY always told me that it could all be fixed and I shouldn't send it back. After losing the spark I had for vr and giving up, they now tell me that I can't return it anymore because I'm over the time limit. Needless to say, I switched back to the index, and it felt like coming home. Too bad that I now own a 1.4k paperweight. Edit. The sweetspot is also SO INCREDIBLY tiny, that it adds to the whole no moving thing. You find it after 15min, congrats! you already lost it again after turning your head to quickly.
I agree. The out-of-box experience of this product is awful, both the HMD and the face pad and the head strap. On the other hand, people who can scrape the face pad or modify it to attach the Index strap may be satisfied, but I was not. I gave up on the Bigscreen after a day, put it in the box, and went back to the Quest Pro. For anyone considering purchasing, other HMDs can be sold second-hand if you decide not to use them, but the Bigscreen requires different face pads and vision correction lenses for each user, so it has no resale value. This is also a point you need to know.
that glare issue really makes it sound like you have an astigmatism or something similar, unless this is a widespread issue. it may be possible that having prescription lenses with prisms would decrease this effect.
I'm always sus of anyone who doesn't mention the massive glare and sweetspot issues the BSB has. I know 4 friends with it and all 4 of them have talked about how bad those two issues are. Yet reviews suspiciously never mention it or gloss over it really fast despite overall clarity being one of the most important parts of a vr headset
When talking to bigscreen about replacing the gasket, ask them to make it as thin as possible. You will thank me. It will increase your FOV by like 15 degrees.

I've had a beyond for almost a year now, and it is hands down the best headset i've ever used. i also got rid of the soft strap, and I actually made my own modification to use it with a vive DAS headstrap, i also modified the vive DAS head strap to have "Index style audio" (floating BMR's). I never had to send my beyond in once, and my face scan was absolutely perfect to the first time. 100%, my favorite headset in my decade of using VR
In Europe this headset is 1,369€, or 1,448 USD plus hundreds extra for lenses or headstrap. Would love to try this kit but I just can't justify spending these amounts of money.
Had to send mine back twice *cough* to get the right fit but it was 100% worth it. I also bought myself some over-the-ear wireless earbuds to maximize comfort and it's VR paradise.
It's 100% comfort for laying and watching things, if you're really buying vr for the first time and dropping a band index is better. It's just not a gaming device
It was on screen for like 2 seconds and I could instantly recognize a military dorm room when I seen one. Giving me flashbacks of my time playing vr in the dorms. Also, awesome video I really like how you do your editing . Looking forward to seeing more!
i ordered mine yesterday and then saw this video today while laying in bed ready to go to sleep. i've owned cheaper headsets like the Quest 2 and the original PSVR before but always found them lacking in a few areas and i've been looking into getting a Beyond for a long time now because it sounds like it would fix all the problems i've had using those headsets. the price tag (while still a huge price especially since i don't have any PCVR hardware yet) isn't a massive worry for me right now since i recently got a very well paying job and have been keeping my expenses as low as possible for a while now.
For my Beyond, I upgraded to it from my Quest 1 since I didn't want to give up OLED whilst the Index is just too outdated now for the price. I love my Beyond but I did have to send it back for another IPD and after 2 face cushions its still not comfortable, I plan on 3D printing my own Slimterface mod in the future as well as some parts to turn the soft strap into a halo strap, I've already 3D printed a replacement cable clip because the default one is pretty terrible. Apart from that the higher resolution is for sure worth it, perhaps less for me coming from an OLED but from any LCD headset it's a major upgrade
I been thinkin about this channel off and on all year, glad to see ya back! And yeah I want a BSB so bad but I might just settle with a Quest 3 for now.
I'm glad you had a good experience with the headset! Mine came with issue after issue after months of waiting 😭 I found the Quest 3 much more clear since the sweet spot on the beyond was unacceptable. I went through support a few times before ultimately returning it. I recommend the Quest 3 for those getting into VR but I ultimately stuck with the Quest Pro for the facetracking. Also my guess for the audio cutting out when you stand up is due to building up a static charge over time - my monitor will sometimes shutoff for a few seconds and I thought I was going crazy 😆
I had to send mine back for IPD adjustment and had them make me a thinner face gasket at the same time. The thinner gasket makes a huge difference in decreasing glare, it's still very present but pushes it further to the outside of the lenses where things are blurry anyway. The downside is that the lenses are so close my eyelashes touch them lol. The headset is far from perfect but as someone who uses pretty much exclusively VRChat, the comfort from it being so dang tiny makes them all worth putting up with. The thing is a preview of what headsets will be like a decade from now, and anyone considering it should be prepared for the appropriate amount of imperfection from something so ahead of the curve.
Not really a fair comparison. The bigscreen also requires base stations and controllers. Its basically marketed as a second headset device. So if you wanna say the index isn't cheaper for the full kit, add those same costs to the bigscreen.
For the same price as this VR headset that may or may not fit, needs you to already own the controller, base stations, and a useable audio strap. you can buy the full Valve Index VR Kit. which comes with EVERYTHING you need except a PC. This thing ISNT WORTH IT
@@cobaltblu4196 And the index is STILL the best PCVR experience on the market, unless you want wireless (and even then it still works with the wireless kit)
Apart from the price tag for the headset itself, you need Iphone new enough to scan your face, Light house trackers, lighthouse vr motion controllers, headphone speakers, and many more!
And many more? No. You already listed everything. Also, even iPhones that are quite old have the necessary hardware. If you don't have an iPhone (like me), you only have to borrow one from a friend for 5 minutes. The scanning process doesn't install anything. Just point it at a QR code, and it does the scan from a web URL. If you have no friends, you can even just do it at an Apple store.
@@Alexander-b7j3s Nah is for those who already bought old set of vr lighthouse trackings that cost more than a grand from 2017. If you're new to VR, then Bigscreen Beyond is gonna be hard given that you need to search for light house trackers else way.
Different people perceive the brightness of the Beyond differently. It has a perfect light seal, so for most people your eyes will adjust, and it will seem just as bright as other VR headsets. At least it does for me. But some people perceive it as dim, it's true. I was very skeptical of Bigscreen's claim that 90Hz OLED feels like 120Hz LCD, but found it to be actually true. This is another thing that won't necessarily be true for everyone, but it's not just a placebo effect. OLED pixels have a _much_ faster reaction time which affects human perception of smooth motion. It has a hidden benefit in that you can get good results at lower frame rates than you can with LCD headsets, which reduces the load on the GPU when playing heavy games. I'd recommend trying the 75Hz mode (which feels like 90Hz LCD). The Beyond is much sharper than the Quest 3 in this mode with 44% more pixels than the Quest 3 rendering at its native resolution. Whereas in the 90Hz mode, the Beyond only has roughly Quest 3 equivalent sharpness.
"OLED pixels have a much faster reaction time which affects human perception of smooth motion" What a total load of horseshit. Why are you lying? It's the opposite. OLED's tris-(8-hydroxy quinoline), Alq3, fluorescent and phosphorescent dyes, and conjugated dendrimers in the emissive layer have a delayed reaction do the chemistry of their emission, thus giving you an inherent photon emission latency. It's why you see bleed streaks when you have lighter colors in the display move quickly across the display. OLED is the worst display technology for VR, and that is why it's been completely abandoned. The only reason it's used today is because of cost, OLED is extremely cheap, despite what consumer marketing tries to convince you otherwise. The lowest latency displays are LCD. The OLED high-frequency displays like you see with the LG 480hz is due to the LED backlight compensating for the OLED display over top, which is why that display has so many clarity issues at that speed. You can see the tests for yourself (if you are brave enough to get off the bigscreen cult juice). "It has a hidden benefit in that you can get good results at lower frame rates than you can with LCD headsets, which reduces the load on the GPU when playing heavy games." Completely made-up lies. "Presence", as the industry calls it, is an eye-to-photon latency standard. This standard is about the displays refreshrate, which determines your level of presence. 23ms ( and below is where presence kicks in, you do not need more than 42hz to hit that standard. 72hz is the comfortable minimum, and that comfort standard goes all the way up to 120hz, with none-to-minimal effect at 144hz. These are also tests you can see from research papers, many of which reality labs at meta (the current most bleeding-edge VR research lab) have been conducting. Quit lying to people with your baseless lies. Grow up.
Oh nice, if you're at Osan I wonder if we had overlap there. I left SK in February. About the Beyond...I like it. I got mine late Feb and so far the only issue was the cable breaking...probably because of the plastic clip. But Bigscreen sent me a replacement pretty quickly, as well as a replacement link box incase that was the cause. I'm actually still I also have a Quest 2 and Pimax 5k+ but unless I _really_ need the Quest 2's wireless for something, neither of them see any use. Occasionally I miss the super wide FOV of the Pimax, but not enough to actually go through the hassle of getting it out and setting up their software. For the brightness, I've _noticed_ it's less, but I actually keep my brightness set waaaaaay _down_ anyway. Like I'm talking close to 6%. Reason being with the full face shield meaning no light bleed, your eyes can adjust to the darkness better, and I noticed I had less glare inside the lens with the brightness lower. Also somehow using the perscription inserts instead of wearing contacts also meant less glare, which is the opposite of what I would expect but hey I'll take it.
had to get 3 different face gaskets, third one finally seemed "okay". first oen gave me a headache after 10min, second one was just overall uncomfortable. third one then seemd okay, but i had to remove some material on one side. and now it sits perfect. I first suspected wrong ipd, had long convos with suppoert about it, they where about to send me an ip measuring kit. but then we got to the gasket. Have to say the whole support experince was top notch, got the two replacements fully free of charge and with quick delivery under a weak, i liv ein germany. (used discord for support). And now i love that thing, use it with my vive delux audio strap (printed myself some adpaters)
I hope they can get the issues worked out because this headset is GORGEOUS. I love my index but the weight on my face from it is something I just can't put up with sometimes 😭
My beyond audio cuts out too I contacted support. They believed it was due to power consumption of the headset and suggested to plug the power only cable into a wall outlet instead. This definitely reduced the issue for me but didn’t fix it. Yours sounds more mild than mine though, worth a shot.
Just got a Quest 3 the other day and absolutely loving it. Signed up for this eyetracking addon that some company is making. Once I add that, I will live in VR Chat!
i have a beyond and i absolutely love it a factor you forgot to mention is the PPD with the beyond being 35! for reference the quest 3 is 25 and the index being 15 that resolution and formfactor convinces me that im not wearing any headset

I don't blame you for wanting to check out Korea. I spent a year there and had a ton of fun. Seoul and Busan are great. The Pyeongtaek mall has a really cool theater as well.
It seems cool in concept, but it's way more ecpencive if you don't already have an Index. You have to get base stations, controllers, and an audio solution if you don't already have some nice headphones or ear buds. And after all that, you are still teathered to a cable. If it's PCVR only, all you would need is a receiver to stream from your PC like the Quest's. That can't take up that much space or cost that much to add, could it?
I'm waitin patiently for their next one 🤤 ...Or if a competitor surpasses them, whichever comes first. I'm already in the process of updating my pc in anticipation.
After a year, it still seems like the Beyond still has a massive learning curve for new people. It surmountable, as I've become accustomed to it's numerous quirks over the past year since getting mine. But some of the issues require more money put in to fix problems, like trying new strap mods (I use an AVP strap for mine). If newer headsets like the Shiftall MeganeX Superlight 8k or Pimax Crystal Super uOLED minimize the curve while providing a significant upgrade in the screens and lenses, it would be difficult to continue recommending the Beyond. Yes, even at double the price point, because again fixing the Beyond's issues does require some more money and time invested. That's *if* Shiftall or Pimax fix reported issues with their own HMDs.
I can't wait for the future when something can be made this small and lightweight but still support inside out tracking and wireless PC connection.. since first trying a fully wire-free setup that can be re-deployed anywhere in seconds, I can't go back But that bit about fatigue from a hot/heavy headset after several hours is so real..

Apart from that the higher resolution is for sure worth it, perhaps less for me coming from an OLED but from any LCD headset it's a major upgrade
наконец ты вернулся! я ждал! Поздравляю с покупкой нового шлема
glad to see a new video from you :O
this video was really excellent, you did a good job!
I been thinkin about this channel off and on all year, glad to see ya back! And yeah I want a BSB so bad but I might just settle with a Quest 3 for now.
“Left me speechless” I’m kinda mesmerised right now dude 😁
3:27 im rolling at the "as for the unboxing experience....... Its pretty cool" 😂
So glad you survived the Squid Games bro
Was scrolling through the channels I was subscribed to and saw twice like two days ago and wished he had posted a video. And here he is now lol
Also my guess for the audio cutting out when you stand up is due to building up a static charge over time - my monitor will sometimes shutoff for a few seconds and I thought I was going crazy 😆
my index is currently being held together with electrical tape and jb weld, so it's only time until I join you
I had to send mine back for IPD adjustment and had them make me a thinner face gasket at the same time. The thing is a preview of what headsets will be like a decade from now, and anyone considering it should be prepared for the appropriate amount of imperfection from something so ahead of the curve.
funny webcam mic never gets old
The index headset itself is cheaper but you also need the controllers and base satiations for it to function as a vr headset
I LOVE THE ZENLESS ZONE ZERO MUSIC 🔥
Apart from the price tag for the headset itself, you need Iphone new enough to scan your face, Light house trackers, lighthouse vr motion controllers, headphone speakers, and many more!
And many more? No. You already listed everything. Also, even iPhones that are quite old have the necessary hardware. If you don't have an iPhone (like me), you only have to borrow one from a friend for 5 minutes. The scanning process doesn't install anything. Just point it at a QR code, and it does the scan from a web URL. If you have no friends, you can even just do it at an Apple store.
Wait, so it's not self-tracking?
@@Alexander-b7j3s Nah is for those who already bought old set of vr lighthouse trackings that cost more than a grand from 2017. If you're new to VR, then Bigscreen Beyond is gonna be hard given that you need to search for light house trackers else way.
@@Alexander-b7j3s It uses basestation tracking.
"OLED pixels have a much faster reaction time which affects human perception of smooth motion"
What a total load of horseshit.
"It has a hidden benefit in that you can get good results at lower frame rates than you can with LCD headsets, which reduces the load on the GPU when playing heavy games."
Completely made-up lies.
Welcome back Mr Twice. Had a blast in Discord n shit. I wish to be back in and socialize more
I hope they can get the issues worked out because this headset is GORGEOUS.
Yours sounds more mild than mine though, worth a shot.
glad to see you back again
0mg i love that intro graphic, it gives project sekai vibes
my fav youtuber is back 😭😭
Just got a Quest 3 the other day and absolutely loving it. Signed up for this eyetracking addon that some company is making. Once I add that, I will live in VR Chat!
3:15 this is the best edit I've ever seen. that ragdoll sent me
My goat has returned 😭🙏🙏🙏
Nice review! I'm jealous of the headset mic. :3
Welcome back!
your editing is so good
been missing you dude! excellent post!
THE KING IS BACK!!!!
Great video my friend, hope to see more of your work!
welcome to yt algorithms, saw you in "recomended" page 👏🏻👏🏻
The screen actually is big, it's just so far beyond bigscreen that it wraps around to being smallscreen.
i have a beyond and i absolutely love it
a factor you forgot to mention is the PPD with the beyond being 35!
for reference the quest 3 is 25 and the index being 15
that resolution and formfactor convinces me that im not wearing any headset
Welcome back my guy
Finally twice made a video a was waiting for so long
bro the goat finally returned
The goat has returned
Hey welcome back Twice!!
The absolute flashbang I got from seeing Sheppard dorms (idk if they cookie cutter them to other bases) while I'm relaxing researching VR things was not something I was ready for. Good lord. 8:31 Love the content though. My first vid of yours and you've got a good sense of humor. Keep it up man 👍
No way brother is a fellow leauge player and t1 fan.
Nice
I don't blame you for wanting to check out Korea. I spent a year there and had a ton of fun. Seoul and Busan are great. The Pyeongtaek mall has a really cool theater as well.
What brought you to Korea?
It seems cool in concept, but it's way more ecpencive if you don't already have an Index. You have to get base stations, controllers, and an audio solution if you don't already have some nice headphones or ear buds.
And after all that, you are still teathered to a cable. If it's PCVR only, all you would need is a receiver to stream from your PC like the Quest's. That can't take up that much space or cost that much to add, could it?
I'm waitin patiently for their next one 🤤
...Or if a competitor surpasses them, whichever comes first. I'm already in the process of updating my pc in anticipation.
so we are closer and closer to player one technology :3
IDK about you, but rubbing your face after a 5 hour VR session is godlike.
finally, your home.
THE GOAT IS BACK!
Return of the King
AND WE ARE BACK BABY
WAITING 4 U TOO
I can't wait for the future when something can be made this small and lightweight but still support inside out tracking and wireless PC connection.. since first trying a fully wire-free setup that can be re-deployed anywhere in seconds, I can't go back
But that bit about fatigue from a hot/heavy headset after several hours is so real..
