- *for Legends' Quest that is...
Welcome back to Unguided, where I'm trying to complete every quest in old school runescape without using a guide, wiki or plugins. I'll only be using my limited knowledge and in-game learnings. Full rules below.
Watch the full Unguided series here: • Unguided
RULES
- No use of OSRS wiki (or any equivalent) for anything - this includes looking up item spawns, quest guides, boss guides, anything
- No use of any other quest helper sites
- No use of quest helper plugin
- Essentially no use of any outside-game assistance
CAVEATS
- I love OSRS RUclips, I might inadvertently learn something I don't know by watching my favourite content creators, but I'm not going to stop watching them so that's just a risk I'm willing to take + it's unlikely going to be relevant for me
- I may use some QoL plugins, but only a few. Loot tracker to prove grinds, ground items so I don't miss drops (and to add cool loot beams lol) and left click to use bones. Nothing that will give me info I didn't previously have
- I'm going to try and avoid any spoiler comments. If you can, please try not to help me if there's an episode where I'm stuck on something. I appreciate the sentiment but telling me an item spawn or quest step could spoil the fun :)

I love this series, it really reminds me of how I used to do quests back in the day. I was stuck on ernest the chicken for two weeks.
The biggus limpwurtus
Thank you king
That was the hardest f2p quest back in the day
I brute forced it for like an hour before getting lucky.
Aah the memory's. English wasn't my first language, so I basically guessed my way through several f2p quest. It was hell
That cat is on life support 95% of the series
LMAO
Lmao
settled watched me do Tai Bwo Wannai Trio the other day on an alt and we concluded that any pre-2007 quest taking place in Karamja was made as rage bait. I wish they still had the old "quest guides" on the official RS website since it would basically give players way better hints than the quest log would, but still doesn't justify this damn quest design lmao, it's a miracle you've gotten this far
It’s so true why did they literally make all the quests on this island so horrific. Was it some sort of testing area they ended up turning into a real location
Love your stuff bro thanks for the comment
I like how playing the game normally is so uncommon that you can make a video series about it.
its really only for quests I feel like most of them were designed around players collaborating and giving each other hints on how to beat them in-game chat, but people don't talk in there like they did in 2006
plus osrs is built off adventure games so a lot of the time they use batshit adventure game puzzle logic which was always infamous for not making sense
>A huge, strangely-constructed doorway. The doorknob is a glass orb.
"Would doing Charge Water Orb on it make any sense? I don't think so..."
AAAAAAA
I've seen a lot of comments on older videos like "Dude's obviously reading guides and faking it." and I think this debunks that. No one would ever think to pretend to struggle that long on the door, ignoring the massive hint, if they were faking it.
@@Ch1pp007 he's got you right where he wants you!
Watching that back whilst editing was painful af
seriously, how many hints are needed, 59 magic req, charge water orb is the only spell at that level, wind strike maybe?
Yeah this guy is fucking painful to watch
The curse spell actually working is exactly the kind of batshit insane moments of quest logic that I watch this series for. Had no fucking idea you could even do that, it's not even on the wiki, and it's not even necessary or helpful for the quest, yet you found it. Missing the extremely obvious charge orb makes this feel so real too, it's so easy to tunnel vision and miss the solution in plain sight.
Love this series, looking forward to the 12 part legend's quest series
I mean it makes sense "something that doesn't harm will weaken his control" but that it only works when the demon has had its control wrested away by Ungudalu makes it an entirely hidden dialogue. Makes me wanna ask Mod Ash what the triggers for it are
@@TheRileyg98please do
The 31 extra cut jades in the bank is comedy gold hahaha
I was so confused about the Curse part, never remember having to do that when doing this quest, but now reading the comments it looks like you discovered a forgotten mechanic of this quest. Just more reasons why this series is so special
It’s so cool as I assumed it was an integral step in the quest only to upload and then find out hardly anybody knew it was even possible lol
I'm so glad you got baited by the curse/weaken/confuse thing too. That got me good, and I'm pretty sure nobody who uses guides would know about it, because it serves LITERALLY no purpose other than to fuck with players who try to engage with the game as intended.
Edit: Holy cow I commented too soon. I can't believe that actually does something. I literally gave up and lucked into the book.
Suprised me too. I wonder if that dialog appears regardless or if it was the specific spell that triggered it.
@@BioMasterZap I tried every non-damaging spell I had access to in every order with no success, so I think it was the very specific sequence and timing that did it here.
I think that was the intended way to do it. However, given the way the quest was coded, there likely wasn't any specific progression checks to "force" you to do it and you can literally just skip that step, and get into the cave section right away.
The wiki doesn't even mention it because it isn't required to get the book. It's genuinely amazing that he figured this out.
The payoff from watching you succeed after doubting yourself for so long is just fantastic, love it
Going to the bank and searching "jade" had my laughing until it brought tears to my eyes. This is my favorite Runescape series, please keep up the good work!
Man, legend’s quest is such a relic of its time where “difficulty” equated to tedium and vagueness. Hopefully no other questline has a sequel where this concept is pushed to its limit!
I think part of it is it's a quest by Mod Tytn, and he was like this in his quests. Shilo Village, Jungle Potion, Tourist Trap, Nature Spirit, OSF. All by Tytn, he's got a distinct love for item based puzzles it seems.
33:15 You've been trying to open the door for hours and you think that the Bookcase is what the elders used to block off the entrance?!?!?! Its the DOOR!
It would funnier lorewise if it was the bookcase, though

The number of times I stared at that text appear in the past few episodes and hoped it would click for him. The satisfaction I got when he finally figured it out. Definitely a silly guy vibing.
Best series on the platform right now, hands down
easily the best osrs series that's happening rn, such a refreshing change of pace from videos that are essentially just supercuts of "just got X level or Y cool item". i hope more people catch on and you get the subs/attention you deserve! eagerly awaiting all the future episodes as the quests get more and more wild :)
"I feel a bit sick" cracked me up a little too much. Congratz on defeating the door!
your voice has subconciously become the voice of the player in runescape for me, it just fits so well idk why its perfect
'This game is testing me and I will win' is possibly the most OSRS quote that ever existed.
Also, love how you actually 'solved' the 'curse riddle' (though slightly bruteforced, you have to cast the spells in order of how they're mentioned per Day)! I've never seen someone do that :-).
I really hope the mods of jagex watch this series. They could get so much good feedback on how to improve quests from it.
Yeah and making changes to the quest log would be a really easy thing to do
Agreed, I think they should actually hire people to play test their old quest. It's not just old it's also British, some riddles or dialog does not come across the same to the rest of the world.
Modern quests are way way better. I do them all without guides haha
@@Eliwood407 a ridiculous proposition
@@AzureXenon Yeah your're right, no one actually HIRES QA testers anymore these days. Out of this world idea by this age.
The whole curse thing is pretty incredible, from the crowdsourcing I've seen it doesn't seem like anyone since it's been tracked has encountered it before from what I have access to! I wouldn't be surprised if a stage I just have a 'No step 9 encountered' note on in Quest Helper turns out to be doing this. Loving the series also, you've done an incredible job showing off both the joys, and pains, of questing, and really throws me back to first starting out in the game. Can't wait for more!
Legend! I was waiting for the day that the creator of everyone’s favourite plugin commented
Is Runescape just ... a thinly veiled point and click adventure?
It really is, except instead of dozens of items you can mindlessly use on everything you encounter, you have hundreds!
@@scrimbingus The Horror
Always has been.
I'd call it a point and click rhythm game at its core
God I love the series. Makes me feel like I am actually following the story.
Glad you’re and enjoying and thanks for the support! 🫡
These vids are my happy place - its like injecting pure nostalgia into my veins 😍
I am myself currently on my way to getting my first quest cape, much more guided, and watching this series really makes me appreciate having guides because some of this stuff I would never figure out.
Gz man, you are actually doing it. Legends without guide had probably a steeper learning curve then endgame content. This is history
You’re an absolute legend! You’ve inspired me to finish the rest of my quest log without the plugin or guides (unless I get stuck on a step for 1+ hours or fail a boss fight 10+ times due to not understanding mechanics). I’ve got so much more respect for you bashing your head against the wall without taking the easy way out. Keep up the good work!!
The thing you hadn't considered was the 56 magic requirement means even non-irons need to be able to cast Charge Water Orb, the lowest level Charge Orb spell. If it was the orbs themselves you need, then you'd be able to buy them as a non-iron.
Also, there's a glass orb in the door.
The "Jade" realization had me cackling.
15:44 Most relatable thing in this series yet, lol.
Was introduced to you from a FrayRS shout out. Instantly addicted and have been watching all your videos up to the current legend's quest. Really looking forward to watching you work through the puzzles during Recruitment Drive!
I've been binging this series last week. Can't begin to tell you how good it is and how excited I've been for this ep! Good luck on your future endeavors, love this series
Discovered this series a few days ago, and it's my new favorite OSRS series. So many of the quests are so obtuse. Looking forward to MEP2 and Song of the Elves.
The light puzzles were turbo shit even with a guide 😅
They arent even that bad without a guide compared to Legends Quest tbh
I completed sote on the day of release without a guide. Took me solid 7 hours. (Also alot of people to follow the same time)
going through the struggle , to eventually come to the point where you have the 'Charge Water Orb' in mind , to go and bank get everything ready , be excited to FINALLY have somewhat of a break-through and then going to the door and your lockpick gets broken.. i am sorry but i laughed sooo hard , knowing the pain to go back and get a new one. What a wonderful series you have going on here. I loved every video so far and it takes me back to 2004-2007 where i also did quests this way.. No way in hell i would've come this far. Congratz!
Eyy! So happy to see your videos are popping off lately! I've been really enjoying these episodes, and they are so well done. This quest is truly an achievement when completed like this, lmao. Looking forward to seeing this quest complete!
absolutely loving this series - keep up the awesome work man!
Man, this was so fun to watch 😂And I love the quick cutaways of future you lamenting the obliviousness. Great vid
dude i'm loving this series, each of your wins feels huge!
mate the doorknob looks like an orb fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
Me when he checked the magic requirement in the log, saw that you unlock something at that level and completely disregarded it
Just came from the previous video, this series is amazing. I got referred from Josh Isn't's castle wars video, so glad I did. I love seeing the problem solving process and your happiness when you finally reach solutions is so infectious. The dry humour is the cherry on top. A well earned channel membership, keep it up.
I love that I don't remember the answers either, that gem appearing on the stalagmite made me gasp! Like it gave me that feeling as if I was witnessing the first person ever to discover the answer.
This is one of the best series on RUclips - thank you so much for your consistency!
Hands down best series, I joined by the 3rd episode and loved it. Been subbed ever since! Good luck!
Just binged this series over the past few days or so lol. Loving it
nice one man feel up to date with everything now :) was an adventure and i look forward to seeing what is to come!
much goodness to you!
This series is great. Hurts my heart at times when as an outsider we know the answers but its brilliant to see the struggles! Keep going my guy~ you’re doing way better than I would 😂😂
I would’ve gave up long ago
perfect timing! i just finished binging the series yesterday
i literally just finished watching the last one to see this posted 30m ago lmao. its really fun watching you do quests that i struggled doing even with the wiki.
Best series on RUclips and I don’t just mean OSRS.
People giving you a tough time for getting stuck are very much underestimating the difficulty imo. You are doing MUCH better than I would be doing if I had no guides
YES. I’ve never done this quest and everything is soo cryptic. I’m even more lost 😅
Great way to start the weekend after a rough week! Love this series
This has so quickly become my favorite OSRS series on youtube, and I hope this channel takes off
dammmmmmit, the cliff hangers are killing me! has easily become my favorite series and its really hard for me to get into any osrs series on youtube. cant wait for the next one!
This has quickly become one of my favorite series on youtube! good shit
Got my quest cape using guides a couple years back now. I think the most recent was probably a night at the theatre which was released June 2021. So watching these now I never refresh my memory and can't remember a thing just like how you are doing it. Great series, every episode is a banger. Keep it up.
Man, Legends quest really is cool as hell
Man, this series takes me back to the good old days. When the game was about having fun and exploration, and efficiency was the last thing on my mind. The Old School I long for, but will never be able to re-attain. Thank you for this series, it is a breath of fresh air for the community!
Really can't say how much I'm obsessed with this series lmfao, it's just to good mate😂😂
this is the best series on youtube right now! keep it up 🎉
My favorite series to watch every friday! Always get such nostalgic feelings
Just got this recommended. Hooooly shit the dedication you have. Love it! Will be binging all previous eps and will be kindly waiting for the next one.
Cheers algorithm. New series to watch. Well done on making a 40 minute video on getting through one door so interesting, subbed
it's always a good day when there's a new unguided ep!
That charge water orb moment had to have been supreme euphoria! So much frustration for that payoff!
I’m 5 or 6 quests from my cape and I can’t even imagine doing most of those quests without runelite. You are a legend
Absolutely love this series, keep it up man
This series is so good please keep it up
How have I only just found your channel?!?!? Going back to watch from the start
I love this series. It’s crazy to think back to the parts you remember and the parts you don’t . I knew the gems and water orb but never in a million years would I have gotten the cast curse part.
Bitter sweet that I'm caught up. This series is gunna go down as a hood classic. this is up there with boss locked and settleds series for me, just being so different and chill.
I love how frustrating this series can be to watch, and how much genuine relief I feel as just the viewer when you figure out something you've been stumped by for hours.
Another banger. Keep it up. This series is kept up by your refusal to quit and your extremely dry English charisma. 😁👍🏻 I love it.
Favorite series strikes again!
I’ve never done this quest and I am even more lost than you. You are a puzzle guru for solving the things they are asking for because this is insane. You deserve very high praise!
I LOVE THIS SERIES. really thank you
just knowing whats coming in the quest gives me anxiety lol. most interesting rs series ive found in a long long time.
Milions of videos get uploaded on yt every week, yet this is the only series that I look forward to!
I haven't even seen the video yet but when I got the notification and saw the video was 37 minutes long I was so happy. This truly was the best Friday in awhile.
Letsfkngooo - now they can call this good friday 🎉
This Public holidays like a slayer task, they're good with a beer but they're superior now.
Happy Friday!
Happy Friday all!
the only series where the progress between the end of one episode and the next is about 8 tiles through a door, and thats legitimately exciting
So close, so many times, it was vindicating to WATCH you figure it out, would've been epic to have a facecam on that!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO fav series rn strikes again!!
Yay I get to watch as these videos release now! I’m part of the cool club 😂 probably my favorite OSRS series at this point
I just watched 2 40-minute videos about you figuring out how to open a door which i already knew.
And it was still entertaining.
Been binge watching the series atm, sad that i'm almost caught up tbh
Found it too funny when you already had jades in the bank 😂 Funnier than it should have been 😅
One of the absolute best on-going series
Im so excited to just catch up and theres a new episode lets gooo
Naming convention reminder 🥰 - Amazing series!
Your editing is insane; so funny watching editor you dunk on past you all the time.
I never realized how cute the intro music was!
love the series bruv keep it up
Hopefully this series might help jagex to make the quest log better
Painful watch, can't wait for the next one! ❤
Around the 16 minute mark when you were disappointed about going mining instead of buying it, then getting to the bank to realize you have 32 chillen there lmao, I cackled.
One of the doors of all time. Literally and figuratively. Soon legend!
😂😂
Legend!! Thank you so much for the incredibly generous donation, your support is greatly appreciated as always
Fucking gold content - Also, this quest is ancient and I believe was the last quest added to RuneScape Classic. They merged over the quest and only received minor updates to it's mechanics. This is the first video I've watched of your series & when I saw you doing this quest I immediately thought "oh god - I can't imagine what fuckery he's gonna come across"
HE TELLS YOU TO GET THE BOOK OF BINDING!? WHAT.
ive never seen that interaction.
Same, been playing for 20 years, done the quest multiple times across alts, first time seeing this, guess this is why you do stuff guideless. I honestly thought he was just wasting his time with the whole curse bit and it was going nowhere until that happened.
I've done quests a lot of time and I do pay attention or try to get some items during quests. I do recall seeing this dialogue, because y'know, it's 'Sacred Water', like Holy Water, something you throw to bless or purify things? Maybe into even, possessed people?
The reason i have a completely organised bank is because i always was in the opinion that on unorganized bank loses a lot of time. You not seeing your gems is a perfect example 😂 Great series man! ❤
Don't give up my friend!
You're doing great :)
Fantastic episode as always!
this quest is so hard to keep track of even with a guide. I feel you on this one
