Love how many comments are saying this is one of the greatest series in Runescape history. I agree, but bro is literally just playing Runescape as intended. He's just enjoying what the game developers put there for us to enjoy without being spoiled by the optimization mindset. Turns out Runescape is just a really good game. Keep at it king!
This quest even with the guide made me stop playing RS a few years ago. Dear lord would I love an update just to make this quest a bit more user friendly
I agree this is an amazing series but I really don't think its how the game is intended to be played. It can be very obscure with hints on what you have to do. This is also an MMO so everything is made with the assumption of crowdsourcing information. Finding out what enemies drop certain things, what to do in a quest, how to solve a puzzle, etc. Is a very tall task to figure out. The wiki is literally the efforts of hundreds of thousands of players collective research and findings. I feel like it was designed with the thought of the players coming together as a community to solve everything especially with these older more DnD style quests where you would be figuring things out with your adventuring party.
>never drinks bravery potion >unintentionally saves Vieldi due to never touching his hat thus, never knowing who or where he is >because of never killing vieldi he got the easier boss fight (killing vieldi would have you re-fight the warriors) >multiple leaps of logic (albeit clues didn’t help) that somehow ended up with the right answer It’s stuff like this that keeps me engaged
A few things: 1. The bravery potion was actually what you needed to go down that hole. After drinking it one time, that permanently unlocks that location for you. 2. 6:14 If you look at the minimap, the walls form the shape of a dragon's head, and the rock is the eye of the dragon. That's why that worked. 3. Legends' Quest was actually the final quest at the time of its release in RSC (so you got that sort of right). It had to be done last because of the QP requirement. So, if you were doing this back in the day this would have actually marked the completion of the series, lol. QP cape didn't exist though at the time, sadly. The Legends' cape was effectively your QP cape.
If you looked at the minimap during the "dragon's eye" segment, you'll see that the mossy rock is the "eye" of the dragon shape that was made by the random walls!
I've binged your series over three times already. Your editing, humor and personality make it incredibly soothing and enjoyable to watch! Keep up the great work my man!

"There's a sorcerer in the area but I can't find him, I only can see his hat" it's so obvious there's no cheating because you can't script running halfway around the Craig and not seeing the hat.

Some hindsight tidbits: The bravery potion just needs to be drank once to climb down the winch. This was alluded to in the npc dialogue that told you about how scary some part of the dungeon was. You wouldn't know that, because you drank it before attempting to climb down, which is where you'd see a chatbox tell you that you're not brave enough to go down there. You never needed the second one. Most players do the "default" route to this quest, where you take the dagger, and use it to kill the ghost that you access via that wizard hat in the lower part of the dungeon. However, you found the alternate route by asking Ungadulu for help and showing him the dagger. You can tell that the ghost was secretly the black demon, because their names are anagrams of each other (Nezikchened and Echned Zekin). The Rune Axe was a drop from a handful of relatively high level monsters at the time. You were correct, most players at the time would just buy one from another player. (Same as the soul rune, also.) The quest reward is 4 batches of xp in any skills *available at the time*. Skills added after Legends' Quest weren't retroactively added to the list.
It's been great growing my ironman alongside yours and often completing quests in tandem, though I often use guides just to fit my schedule. As such, your trials and discoveries add so much depth to my own experience. Really appreciate your hard work.
The bravery potion was so you'd be able to go down the hole after the orb door. If you hadn't drank one, your character would be too afraid to go down. You already drank it in the last episode, so didn't need to do it again (so the 2nd one you made wasn't needed at all) Also, you unintentionally went for the good and easier but longer route in the quest, instead of the short, evil route! :) If you had found Viyeldi (interact with the wizard hat you were confused about) and killed him, Nezikchened would have revealed himself on his own. He would have then also used the 3 spirits from the caves in the final battle before you'd get to fight him, at the end of the quest.
Finishing Legend's Quest without a guide is definitely a true Runescape achievement that I assume almost nobody except players who were playing on release have accomplished, and even they had each other to rely on. Mad props to you for figuring out your own way through, even if it did take you way too long to figure certain things out. There's a reason this quest was considered the endgame of RS Classic!
When you finally have the Quest Cape, it will be interesting to look back and see if the Charge Orb door will go down as the toughest challenge of the entire series. Well done, Legend! o7
Also, since you're probably never going back there, the Barrels in the Viyeldi Caves have a wildly strange drop table. They can drop all kinds of noted ores, bars, and fish. This is because in Runescape Classic banknotes were not a thing and the barrels could drop any "cert" that was in the game.

A great concept that few even qualify to attempt, exceptional execution and a wonderful personality behind the series. Safe to say I'm looking forward to seeing you attempt the myriad of complicated, confusing and challenging quests down the road
Absolutely brilliant series. As someone who has been enamoured with the lore and quests of RuneScape since 2002 it is a pleasure and a delight to see someone delving into the quests and telling these stories in such detail. Cheers mate!

Indeed! This quest without a guide is actually really tough. I tried it on my own and also spent like 2 days of probably 10 hours of gameplay each trying to get through. But man, it feels so rewarding when you finally manage to beat it. And what's cool about the quest is that there are more ways than 1 to do the Viyeldi part, which I did not even know was a thing. I just killed Viyeldi.
I was inspired by you to get membership for the first time in years and try to get some quests done unguided. The worst thing, by far, is the bank running. I'm not even an ironman but there's nothing worse than being in some random place and suddenly needing a bucket or a tinderbox or something.
Any time I do a quest without a guide 90% of my inventory is just random items like a chisel, spade, knife, rope etc. in case I need it on the quest. Leaves almost no room for supplies though.
Yeah I think this was honestly the worst thing about the underground pass. Other than that I actually don’t mind it too much as I think that quest set the bar so high, cause it was like a 15 minute walk lol
This will absolutely go down as one of the best series in osrs, with Swampletics, By Release and One Man Army. Congratulations on the legends quest my guy.

This is my first time watching a new episode since binging the whole series this week. Absolutely in love with this series, it taps into such pure nostalgia, thank you!
Wow, what a journey. I've binged every episode over the last few days. I sometimes find myself shouting at the screen while you are questing and the gears of the mind are turning. It's been really fun to watch. I have MAD RESPECT for you and all players who do RuneScape and Old School RuneScape quests without a guide.
The legends quest xp reward was increased significantly in osrs by an update in 2022, you are probably the only person to truly earn that buffed reward
Legends' Quest was released 20th of August 2003 as the 50th quest and it is the first Master tier quest so at the time of release it was the most difficult quest in the game. I checked all the methods of getting rune axe. Tree spirit is the earliest monster currently dropping it, released on 29th of March 2004. However, looking at Runescape Classic wiki reveals that it used to be dropped by some other monsters previously as a very rare drop and as a rare drop from KBD.
You are legend indeed. I completed Legends a while back, with a guide, and it was still a pain in the ass. But to figure it all out on your own? Mad respects. Consider my subscription earned. I hope this crazy journey carries on for a long time.
Apologies for the delayed reply. Thank you so much for the incredibly kind words and donation. I’m so glad I could rekindle some of that early days magic this game has to offer
I feel your pain with the door needing to have the spell cast on it every time. That screwed me over on what was my third trip back after forgetting something. "Surely, they wouldn't make me go and blow another glass orb and bring the runes just to re-enter this door right?" And so began my 4th trip.
I actually laughed out loud thinking about this. I'm just imagining him getting lost doing a completely unrelated quest now and being like, lemme just spin my bullroarer
Massive congrats on completing legends finally! I have to say, your series has made me appreciate the RS 3 toolbelt so much more. I remember having to carry half an inventory of tools back in the day when questing and I don't miss it. Though the one thing it doesn't have a space for is your arch nemesis, rope lol. Its really apparent how much the quest design philosophy changed from RSC to RS 2. The older stuff seems to revel in its obscurity.
RSC quest design draws a lot of inspiration from old-school western rpgs, like from Sierra or even older. "Revel in obscurity" was absolutely the rule of the day back then.
I've been playing this game for over 20 years and I don't watch too many series but this one has absolutely captivated me. I've done every quest in the game a handful of times but not once have I actually read the dialogue or understood the plot to the quests I've always just watched a guide and powered through. So this has been a really fun experience actually getting to experience the quests for the first time in a new way.
Getting through the heart door and getting harassed by the mobs was genuinely the funniest bit of the entire series thus far. I could hear the frustration and annoyance and it’s so relatable. Bravo.
Congrats on getting it done. Early quests like you did earlier I also did without guide but by Legends I was very guide dependent so you're a stronger player than me.
I love your videos sm, this might sound weird but they really help my anxiety - your voice is calm and the complexity of figuring out the quests distracts me. Thank you for your efforts in making these videos! I look forward to them!
Me nooby f2p person saw someone wearing the legends cape back in the day and I loved the look. I asked how he got it and he told me it was members. When I finally persuaded my dad to use his creditcard for members, I felt sad to discover it was locked behind such a hard quest. Victory was all the sweeter when I finally got it on my back.
This is how I've been playing my account (except I will look it up if I am at a brick wall), totally independent of this series, and its funny how often you think the same thing I do about a quest. Even down to "Oh my god I'm a fucking genius" about the heart thing lol. Like by the time you have gotten to this point you're so excited just to have the answer be in the same room without ANOTHER run back to the bank. I fucking love it man.
There are a lot of times where I watch this video and laugh at some of the nooby things you say (in a good way - the series wouldn't work without it(, but to complete the legends quest without a guide is GENUINELY extremely impressive. Congrats man. I had the same reaction as you when I found out about the herblore rewards too btw haha
This is my favorite OSRS serious at the moment. Watching these videos makes me remember when i was a kid hiding from my parents and staying up way too late struggling to get the legends cape. Good shit, gratz and I'm looking forward to more!
Talking about inventory management. Doing this quest on a UIM was painfuö but the reward of 120000 herblore experience makes it so worth it and in general it is one of my favourite quests in the game
Well done, Alien. Awesome seeing your experience and comparing it to my own, seeing what details we notice (or ignore) and how that influences our approach. For me, after getting the blessed bowl, I didn't notice the tall reeds next to the pool. I assumed that since I couldn't stick the bowl in the pool, I must have needed to go underground to find the source. Ended up doing the whole Book of Binding part before getting my first drop of sacred water. Meanwhile you actually paid attention to Ungadulu's notes and figured out the Confuse/Curse/Weaken thing, which I completely missed. Looks like we got stuck on the orb puzzle for the same amount of time, lol. Wasted time getting all the orbs and trying them on the door before I realized you could cast the charge spells on it. I shared your pain in that moment when you realized the door didn't stay open on a return trip and you had to go back and get more supplies to cast the spell again. The best/worst part about doing these unguided is getting that far and realizing you're one or two items short of making any more progress. But you did it! Excellent job all around. I'll see you on the other side of Recipe for Disaster.
These last few episodes were legendary. Back in classic this was the equivalent of the qpc, so it's a fitting precursor to equip it in front of the wise old man.
Man, I cannot believe you blundered onto the "good path" to the quest ending simply because you never clicked on that wizard hat. Still the best OSRS content on YT, I can't wait to see things like the elf quest chain...
Not seen anyone mention it yet, but the Legend's Quest, as well as a handful of other Master level quests in the game, had their exp rewards increased about a year and a half ago. You used to get a bit over 30k total from this quest (7650 each bit) but was increased to be more in line with current day quest rewards. A lot of us that finished Legends quest on our long term accounts got to claim close to 2m free exp across all the quests when they made this change!
Having done some of the newer quests of the last couple years (not all) without guides, I can say that the design is pretty good and I didn't get stuck too much, quest cape will be tough but you can do it! Really liking the series, great job on Legend's Quest! Also part of the reason why it got that weird ordering in the quest log is probably because of the slightly different orders/ways you can do stuff after getting down that rope into the big cave. That's not to excuse how little information it gave you for the majority of the quest though.
I absolutely love this series. You have a great combination of patience and personality. I've been watching it from the beginning and it's great to see your editing improve. The videos are amazing now, rivalling some of the best osrs creators. Really glad you're getting more views. Hopefully this is just the start!
Congratulations Legend! What an incredible journey this has been so far! If the Quest Cape is your goal, then you are truly just beginning your ascent. I can't wait to see what's in store next for our Unguided Legend!
Love this series! My absolute favorite youtube series right now. I would love to see you tackle some newer quests. Maybe after you get Barrows Gloves you try some of the Varlamore stuff? I think I would pay 5 dollars to watch you do Garden of the Dead, so feel free to take me up on that some day
I look forward to all the future questing! I don't think it can get any worse than Legend's Quest honestly, as you get to the more modern quests the Quest Log is actually helpful lol
Congratulations for finishing this impossibly cryptic quest! I wish i could still play the game the same way... To be completely clueless, like back in the day when playing for the first time. At least WGS is going to release soon(ish), that's pretty much the quest i got up to in the main game in the 2010's, but never got the requirements to start it. Now i can jump straight in and experience it blind, feels like such a huge moment
This series is fucking gold. Runescape releases some toxic venom into your blood that keeps you coming back and this series scratches that itch. You are the most patient person in the world as I would've rage quit about 30 times. Each time you had to go back I would've just logged out, lmao.
There's several of each of the warriors because this quest is a relic from Runescape Classic. There were no instances back then, so they added multiple in case several people were doing the quest and this bit was crowded.
the bravery potion is required to go down the rope in the first place :3 absolute beast of a series so far, one of the only ones i actively anticipate being released on the daily. keep it up
Massive congratulations on getting that done! Definitely one of the hardest quests to do unguided, should hopefully be more straightforward from here 😅 can't wait to see what gains you make next!

This series really reminded me of the magic of when I first started playing RuneScape as a kid. Absolutely loving it, keep it up man
Apologies for the delayed reply.
Bro missed the bank in the legends guild hahaha
:o
I love that your default 'looking for someone' response is now swing the bullroarer 😂
The toolbelt is such a game changer honestly. It’s like the biggest thing keeping me from osrs these days
Only started this series a few weeks ago and I'm hooked. So happy to see whenever a new episode is released!
Bravo.
Well damn, pizza just got delivered and I get a notification about a new Alien vid. What a Friday
Perfect 👌
Enjoy!
I'm making pizza as well lol (no delivery).
Congrats on getting it done. Early quests like you did earlier I also did without guide but by Legends I was very guide dependent so you're a stronger player than me.
This is seriously one of the most underrated series!
I love your videos sm, this might sound weird but they really help my anxiety - your voice is calm and the complexity of figuring out the quests distracts me. Thank you for your efforts in making these videos! I look forward to them!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Glad my vids can help even if just a bit
Literally a bank right next to him and he went all the way to ardy get coins for the legends cape, peak unguided once again
Mate, you didnt need this quest. You were a legend already
this is the series i get hyped for when its released but i know i must save it for when i go to bed
Bedtime vibes
Me nooby f2p person saw someone wearing the legends cape back in the day and I loved the look. I asked how he got it and he told me it was members. When I finally persuaded my dad to use his creditcard for members, I felt sad to discover it was locked behind such a hard quest. Victory was all the sweeter when I finally got it on my back.
Never ever question your decision to get herb exp. Every single time mate every chance you get.
I have not played runescape in years but I absolutely love this series! Can't stop watching.
I love how such a simple concept makes for such an amazing series.
This just shows how ingrained guides are in the way we play games nowadays
I had no idea this would end up being my favorite series when I first clicked on episode 1. Thanks for all the amazing content. :)
This series brings an unbelievable amount of joy for the game. Thank you mate
I've been slowly catching up in this series and it's such a satisfying moment here. I'm excited to see what more is to come, but it's so thrilling
Best series on youtube atm
What an absolute legend! Trying to figure it all out looked insanely frustrating, but you pulled through. Congratulations, you deserve it!
I miss every week waiting for a new episode of my favorite tv series to air, thanks for bringing that feeling back ❤️
Talking about inventory management. Doing this quest on a UIM was painfuö but the reward of 120000 herblore experience makes it so worth it and in general it is one of my favourite quests in the game
Being involved in game without guides brings me so much joy. thank you for this. doing gods work. i wish you the best!!
Found this series 5 days ago and binged the whole thing. GZ on the great achievements thus far, can't wait to see more
This is arguably the best series on RUclips right now. I am so excited for the next episode!
Such a good series and I watch this with full focus unlike other youtubers. Congrats on legend's cape and can't wait for more.
Man, I cannot believe you blundered onto the "good path" to the quest ending simply because you never clicked on that wizard hat.
Still the best OSRS content on YT, I can't wait to see things like the elf quest chain...
Started watching after the J1immy shoutout. This is the best fucking series I've ever watching. I haven't been this hooked since Swampleetics
Ending felt like a proper send-off for a season of any show. Looking forward to the next premier!
Huge congratulations!! What a journey I love seeing you work it all out with no guides etc. We'll done. I look forward to more
We all laughing but this guy's one of the few to deserve the legend status granted by the quest
I absolutely love this series. You have a great combination of patience and personality.
I've been watching it from the beginning and it's great to see your editing improve. The videos are amazing now, rivalling some of the best osrs creators.
Really glad you're getting more views. Hopefully this is just the start!
Congratulations! I love this series so much and it has been such a fun trip. Here's to more unguided for much more to come!
Congratulations Legend! What an incredible journey this has been so far! If the Quest Cape is your goal, then you are truly just beginning your ascent. I can't wait to see what's in store next for our Unguided Legend!
Best series out there rn! You a beast for beating legends without a guide!
Just click on "other" in the woodcutting guide. Why would the woodcutting guild requirement be under "axes?"
This series is incredible. Dont forget to make an all episodes video so I can binge the entire series x2
This series is fucking gold. Runescape releases some toxic venom into your blood that keeps you coming back and this series scratches that itch. You are the most patient person in the world as I would've rage quit about 30 times. Each time you had to go back I would've just logged out, lmao.
oh damn you are alive, i thought you died since no uploads in over 3 years. you switched from tf2 to osrs?
What a great journey thus far. Amazing work with the legends quest.
I'm quite impressed with your tenacity, ahah. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for the channel support and the kind words! I really appreciate the support
There's several of each of the warriors because this quest is a relic from Runescape Classic. There were no instances back then, so they added multiple in case several people were doing the quest and this bit was crowded.
the bravery potion is required to go down the rope in the first place :3
absolute beast of a series so far, one of the only ones i actively anticipate being released on the daily. keep it up
Easily the best RuneScape series out there. Thank you for suffering for us!!!
From a RUclips enjoyer to ramping up to RUclipsr legend :) love the series mate!
You deserve the title of Legend more than anyone else in OSRS for completing that quest unguided. I know you'll get that quest cape one day.
Ngl bro. I am so chuffed for you. I love this series and I've been telling my wife about each episode when I watch it
Congrats on your first (maybe second?) Master tier quest! Really impressive progress man
Massive congratulations on getting that done! Definitely one of the hardest quests to do unguided, should hopefully be more straightforward from here 😅 can't wait to see what gains you make next!
Honestly good job this quest is nuts...can't wait for the elf puzzle quests.
