Today I visited Guitar Center with my family to take a look on the guitars, when I saw the Yamaha FG830 and played, my jaw dropped with such a good sound. I played other more expensive models, but I kept coming back to the FG830. Well, I bought and I don't think it should be considered an entry level guitar just because of the price that you pay, it sounded better than few 4 figures guitars.
I have the fsx700sc as my "second" guitar. I love it! I really want to try a Yamaha LS26 but no one in my city even has them. Great review AL. I love seeing the FS series get some love!
A Yamaha is great. I have a Martin and Gibson both small body's but the Yamaha and its tone comes close, its very playable and I dont have to worry about it getting banged up or stolen...lol
I came across a 1973 Yamaha FG-200 in GC back in the spring. It needed some work - tuner screws reset, lowered the saddle for better action, but now it BOOMS! And it was only $149!
Aaron Jackier This is a solid top spruce guitar with scalloped x-bracing, and cream binding. Aside from the Fd01s and the FG series, all of Yamaha’s actually entry-level guitars are laminate. This guitar is solidly a mid-level instrument. The only reason it’s being called entry level is because it’s a concert shape (smaller body) and because of the price lol
Yes, incredible value at $350!!! Rosewood side and back, are you kidding!!!??? Very easy to play, narrower neck... strummed chords sound divine. Tends to be on the bright side, lacking a little on the low end... Maybe the fg830 makes up for this. Just awesome. Don't expect to drive it too hard as the om/ooo body is geared more for tlc. Again, you can't go wrong with a Yamaha musical instrument!
@@TheAcousticLetter can you suggest any good models of Yamaha acoustic guitar with 11 mm string spacing. I mostly play fingerstyle. Thanks a lot for the reply
@@sanjeevjalui1185 that is the only negative about this model, string spacing is narrow. If you like this model, look also for Yamaha LS16. I believe it is 1.73” at the nut and is better for fingerstyle players. Yes, it costs $200 more.
I wish people would actually explain why something is good other than, "It sounds good, hard to beat at this price". But why is it hard to beat? Is it the intricate detail of the neck or body or what the hell makes it worth drooling over? If I said a $10 video game was better than a lot of $30 video games I could explain why besides just saying, "it's fun".
Yamaha has always been a ridiculous bargain in acoustic guitars. Overlooked many times since they make ATV's and outboard motors and everything under the sun. Still have my fathers FG-165 from 1975 or so which while it never fretted well, had an unbelievable sound to it.
Maybe you're different, thom, but I would give anything to see any of countless detractors of laminate listen to solid and laminate side by side at this level and tell me right off, 'oh, yeah, that's the solid one'. Granted, it would be 50/50, but seriously, I don't believe most could tell.
I just ordered this in Tabasco burst can’t wait to get it.
Not a well made, good sounding guitar FOR THE MONEY, a well made, good sounding guitar period.
I am so lucky to have started with a Yamaha guitar in the 70s. What a great choice!!
I got a fg730 and it still rules. For the money, still the best deal.
This will be my first acoustic guitar and it has been calling me to buy her for a long time.I know this is the one.

@@gustavopaulette3496 rude!!!
Hopefully I can get my hands on it
My first acoustic was a Yamaha FG and it was a killer guitar and was cheap. I played it so much I wore it out like Willie Nelson....lol

My new Tobacco Brown Sunburst FS 830 arrives next week, I am excited to begin this journey of learning to play guitar
stick with it. u ll be happy
@patrickd1805 thanks!
Nice one guys! I own an FG820 12 string, and I freaking love it! It doesn't get any better for that kind of money 😋
I've worked on a lot of different Yamaha models and for the money they do rock!
Randy Schartiger randy u never sleep. Please let me know how to email u, have something to ask
Great guitars, I have lots of love for a decent Yamaha.

Sounds great and looks very nice. I"d have no problem picking up one of these, and I"m a Martin guy.

What does martin guy means ?
@@kissmyringnotthecrown7027 I Think he means that if the Yamaha was stolen the thief would return it for sure!

I wish the term "entry level" would die. It comes across to me as being talked down to.
If you take your ego out of the equation, then there's nothing wrong with calling it an entry level guitar. Which it is.
@@AdultsAreTalking clearly many agree with his statement. "Entry level" naturally implies low quality

I think entry level refers more to price than quality

One of my favorites 🎸
I would like to see a review on the LL6 Yamaha.
How much is that in your country?
Just magnificent!
Sounds great, regardless of the price. Thanks.
They sound good, I’m just not a fan of the string spacing at the saddle in the FS models in the 800 series. You get more room on the FG dread size
put elixir nano 80-20, damn u'll get sound like 10x expensive than the price you pay 👍
Great review. Can I please ask what string you are using for this vidoe?
Awesome Yamaha 🇯🇵
And I still kick myself for not buying an APX6 back in 1997. Granted, I ended up with a mint 1992 Gibson Dove, but still, could have just got both.
Very good sound... like to buy this👌👌🙂
Is there a Jumbo body version?
How is this compared with a Yamaha fs800? Is it worth the extra 120$? And why
A bit darker tone, from the Rosewood.
Would you justify the extra 120$?, I think the fs800 is a solid choice
@@jesuslopez6873 Can't go wrong with the FS800.
How much?
So can you tell me if I was to buy a FS830 would I be purchasing a fake?
I want an FS5!
How does this guitar do if not stored in case? I am in Southern California
Hi can you inform about the strings spacing, is it 10 or 11 mm
