I’ve been playing guitar for 28 years and I’ve had a good amount of acoustics over the years. Taylor’s, Martins, Fenders, etc. I recently got myself the FS800 and I can’t put it down. Plays and sounds amazing. It can go toe to toe with much more expensive guitars
Just bought one! What a fantastic instrument particularly at this price. It is by far the best sounding guitar I own. It’s great looking with no noticeable finish or construction faults. You are quite right in your review. You tell it like it is. I highly recommend this guitar. I will definitely subscribe to your RUclips channel. Thanks.
Hey James! Great channel. I have one of those guitars - playing live they have a presence that is difficult to achieve with a dreadnought body style. In addition - if you ARE playing with another guitarist who is using a dreadnought body guitar - this guitar lives in a different area sonically and it can enhance the overall sound in that scenario.
Great review! I just ordered this guitar but in the tobacco brown sunburst color. This will be my very first guitar, and i am excited to learn to play. Was the one you were playing with the factory strings? It sounds so good .. hard to believe it's a $350 guitar
Just picked up one of these in sunburst. Love it. I want to put a pickup in it. Not sure which one yet. I’m thinking LR Baggs. Any suggestions? I want a pickup system that would really help bring out the natural sound of the guitar.
Yes I've got one, just ole Don here from Hamilton NZ, and I showed it to my Luthier, he said he liked it and interestingly told me Yamaha are generally in the middle of the rankings of top Acoustic's, just his opinion I know, but there you go, so I bought a trans-acoustic Yamaha, yes 5x the money, but Know Iv'e got a match with my Martin, which in Some way's its (the Martin) still a better guitar but the little amp inside the Yamaha gives greater projection, so each has its own place, kind regards, Don 😊😊😊
Sure liked the video and your playing. I have a FS830. Do you think changing the plastic saddle and bridge pins to bone would improve the sound or maybe just the pins or the saddle?
@@TADDs101No I haven’t. I’m currently using D’Addario Phosphor Bronze EJ16. I had the nut, saddle, and bridge pins changed to bone back in August. I think it helped to open the guitar up more with more crispness and clarity. Since I switched out everything it’s hard to say which item made the most difference.
@awabbievet I am just beginning my guitar learning journey, have never played, so I have a lot of work ahead of me. I had a budget of $400 max for my first guitar and decided on the FS830 in the Tobacco Brown Sunburst color, it seemed like the most guitar for $349. I am excited to start learning

I might buy this as a Christmas present for myself. Red and black are my favorite colors and this guitar sounds amazing
Loving the dust sun red color

Great review ! You just made me go buy one
You just can't beat a Yamaha for the money and quality.
Great playing on this beautiful Yamaha James.
Great demo of this guitar. Would love to hear a comparison with the fs820.

I dont see whats wrong with the 820s. I have one and love it. Play it as much as my LL16. The other FG I want is the FS850.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the 820. Excellent guitar!

Anything other than plastic would improve the sound. Even synthetics like tusq would be an improvement.
@@tarpley-musicThanks for the reply. I already have the bone bridge pins. Guess I’ll go tor the saddle too.
@awabbievet have you experimented with different strings?

How is it for fingerstyle..?
You're a good player, but it wouldve been nice to see/hear some finger picking considering thats what this guitar is best suited for.
What makes it best suited for finger picking? Curious as I'm new to guitars
I have ab
What was the up grade ?
The guitar itself is a great upgrade for a player with a beginner guitar that wants to stick to the Yamaha line of instruments.
