Wow! This guy seems driven with an incredible passion. The final product is not the the quality of sound, the final product is how the recipient feels.
This is one of the reasons of a live performances can impact deeper than what's on a screen.
He is so humble and wow. These 2 minutes can be transformed into countless hours of reflection on what we do with our playing, our art, our essence. A man full of wisdom.
"I've been playing the cello for over sixty years. So, I should be getting it right by now. However, is that what I am trying to do? Am I trying to get it right? Or, am I trying to find something?" That alone speaks volumes. As a retired artist, I spent far too much time feeling overwhelmed while trying 'to get it right'. The best moments where when exploring and trying 'to find something'. Yo-Yo Ma is with and away from his cello a wondrous and valuing human being. 🌺
I usually skip adds on RUclips. However, I saved this particular clip. Yo-Yo Ma's words are treasure.

As a self-thought autistic musician , who literary ran away twice as a child from conventional pre programmed music school.
,because I wanted to express myself musically . instead learn to perfectly robotically compositions . I recognize myself 200% in the words of yo yo ma . He put to words exactly what I felt at a young age , but could not determine or justify to myself and the world . Until now .There is hope for me ! ( and hopefully to the world also )

I heard you perform with the Savannah Symphony, Christian Badea conducting, around 1978. I was ushering for the concert as a 13 year old member of the Sav. Youth Orchestra. I went back stage during intermission, and talked with you, and you were so kind and accessible. You were an inspiration then.. and are still! You're a treasure!
I like the fact that Yo-Yo appeared on Arthur in the My Music Rules episode along side Joshua Redman the jazz musician who was Francine's uncle in that episode

I got this video as an ad in the two set concert
This is the best master class commercial I have seen. I know nothing about Yo Yo Ma except that he is a cellist but this ad is so good I had to watch the whole thing. Yo Yo Ma, thank you for making your music about personal expression.
Excellent Yo-Yo Ma. I do not have a desire to play the cello but will apply your life wisdom to other areas of life as we all try to transmit the living love energy back and forth between each other. Higher and higher we go!
