What a delightful performance and impression of the Bach, Suite, Prelude No. 5. Refreshing to see and hear the magnificent preparation and poise of this musician and cellist. Yo-Yo Ma's presence was impressive as always drawing from the musician, musicianship and quality of formation in identifying something to acquire and remember. Thanks to both of you.

Amazing to gain this perspective but also it made me hear better why The Maestro is the best cellist alive. No offence to Meredith but the difference to my uneducated ears is like the difference between salt and sugar I completely love Yo-Yo Ma . He is the sweetest man on the planet . I think he could persuade a cactus to shed its thorns

Give a music a life!!! A peace of music is not a static melody, as a musician, you should give it a life, happy or sad, peaceful or crazy.

I feel that Bach, for example in this piece, that one can compare itto fractal mathematics ason can discern permutations throughout the developement.
Yo yo ma is an extraordinary teacher and of course virtuoso cellist

The first opening in my opinion features or a funeral probably Death! This 5th Suite piece is very Deep! Harmoic Analysis is awesome! Think deeper! ❤

Yo-yo looks much younger than he is now, I would guess that it was when he was about his early 50’s

The New World Symphony, which recorded this, dates it at 2015, but I think it is much older than that, even though he has aged well.

@@newworldsymphony thanks! Putting it in historical context. Really interesting. I studied musicology and history in conservatory and keep up with all of it. Admire Ma and just wanted to know placement of this. I thank you.
