Keaton's awareness of what made the original so unique is such a testament to his talent. He realised that the original really was lightning in a bottle. His commitment to trying to do justice to that, right down to the fact he didn't want anymore screen time in the sequel than he had in the original, is testament to his commitment to the role and to trying to do justice to the original move.
Michael said he insisted Beetlejuice should only be in it for the same amount of time as he was in the first movie. Any more screen time and he believed it would ruin the movie, Tim Burton agreed with this
@williamafton4427 I actually noticed that. I remember reading Beetlejuice was a side character in the first movie, and it felt the same in the second. It was just right.
It’s impossible to separate my childhood from Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. I watched it, (kid you not) at least 30-40 times as a child. Probably around a dozen as an adult. In a strange way I feel just as much a part of this LONG-AWAITED sequel as any of the cast members, that child-like wonder flickers a little brighter as the release date nears. I’m rooting for it to be a huge success & to be the rarity sequel that lives up to its predecessor. Great behind the scenes presentation as well, it’s a nice holdover until the film hits! Glad to see the cast as excited as I am. Your #1 Atlanta fan, JP 🪲
@Jessa-c2uyeah, Beetlejuice is like a good song. I have no idea how many times a year I see it. It's back ground art. Stoked for the the sep 4th Imax pre-screening! "I got demons running all through me! "
Totally down with your sentiment. But "Dumbo" was a mess. I won't even mention that "Willy Wonka" mishap. I'll still be there on Sep 4th early screening... kids! 💋☠️
@Excelcior58 Burton didn’t want to make Dumbo. Disney forced him to complete his contract. He said he hated making it and Dumbo’s mistreatment in it is an allegory for how Disney treated him
I grew up in Corinth VT, where they filmed all the WInter River scenes, and my husband and I were so absolutely lucky to be able to be background extras in one of the scenes. My name, coincidentally, is also Lydia. We sat in extras holding about 15 feet away from Winona Ryder for the better part of 2 and a half hours. She was exhausted but whenever one of the kids went by her she always greeted them and took a moment of her time to say hi. She was going out of her way to do that for the kids and my respect for her skyrocketed. Justin Theroux also waved at my husband and I during one of the scene resets. Seemed like a super nice guy! I'm so excited to see this in theaters! Thank you Tim Burton for bringing this back to Corinth VT!!
I saw a reel that described the special effects in the first one as "tacky and B movie" bc the effects budget was only a million dollars. I hope Tim kept that vibe in part two bc that kitchiness is what made the first one so loveable.

If you adore the first movie as most of here do, and want to see everyone back on the big screen, go see BEETELJUICE BEETLEJUICE. Michael Keaton hasn't lost that crazy energy, and he is the one and only BETELGEUSE.

i love how mr keaton starts off thinking about the titular role and his impact and importance to the story but then immediately takes it all back and says that the true drivers and biggest impact is from the living human characters. for his own task of course he's most concerned with what he himself has to do but he also can view the piece as a whole, great actor.
I'm proud to say that we went to the same school district, same neighborhood, and I'm proud of who Michael has become!! He never left who he was as a kid growing up ❤
I am excited to see this movie, it's so great to see the OG cast back, and new additions esp Monica Belucci, she's still so underrated bc of her accent despite being terrific in every role (i like very much that she's in a relationship with Tim Burton, they're a very cute couple, unexpected but very cute).

I had the pleasure all those years ago to work on Nightmare before Christmas. Tim Burton was hanging out with johnny Depp during the mix at the Saul Zaentz Film Center. The first thing I noticed was neither of them appeared to have bathed in a year, and both were partying a bit. But it only took listening to them both that it was readily apparent that both were true artistic geniuses. Tim was truly in control of every detail of his vision. And his pal egged him on. Danny Elfman was there a bit as well. All three were weird in a good way. I worked on over a hundred films in my career, but that experience stands out. Robert Klane was also another great memory during the Weekend at Bernie’s film mix.
Thank you to the cast for taking the time to get the movie just right and understanding the love we have for the movie and honoring the story along with the fans. Awesome to see people who take pride in his or her work.

Last time all these people (Tim Burton, Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Catherine O'Hara, Alec Baldwin, and OF COURSE Wynona Rider, as well as all the other cast and crew) got together they made an AMERICAN CLASSIC! Each of these actors have become Hollywood icons in their own right, and I could cite performances from each of them that I've absolutely adored, but I will say that I have an unwavering soft spot for Wynona Rider. She just has an energy about her in all of her performances that makes me feel like I'm watching an Actors actor, give a masterclass on how to a subtle yet COMPLETE ICON. Now they've added Jenna Ortega to the cast!!! I don't know any of these people, but I'm honored FOR Jenna Ortega in being cast in this! Yes, I get overly excited about productions that feature truly great artists like these, and I just am so excited and I can not wait to see this movie!!!! You know that feeling you get when a loved one is cooking something. You're not quite sure what it is, but the scent alone makes your tummy rumble? That's how I feel about this movie! Beetlejuice is one of my favorite films mainly because i love Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton. Jenna Ortega is just beyond mesmerizing. Plus the first Beetlejuice came out the year i was born , which was 1988 . And now 36 years later , it all comes full circle for me as a super freak fan of Beetlejuice, because the second film falls smack dabb on my birthday which is Friday , September 6th.
Excited for it! I remember back then Tim said that he doesn't like making sequels to his movies. Maybe Beetlejuice Beetlejuice can open the door way for other sequels like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride or, even Mars Attacks.
How great seeing these beautiful people back together after 36/37 years! With new and old faces, we really can't wait to see how everyone has grown up and what Beattleju... has been upto! Thank you for the interviews and getting me excited to see the movie next month!
I get how a lot of people decides to focus on the flaws. But I grew up watching Beetlejuice, it was one of my favorite movies as a kid. The first one was released 5 years before I was born, so I never got the opportunity to see it in theaters, and now everything felt very surreal. Going to the theater to watch a much anticipated sequel to a cult classic, for the first time in decades... I was very entertained, I loved so much watching Keaton as Beetlejuice again; one of the most bats*** crazy characters I've seen. I'm just very thankful for movies who can achieve this. I wish more people could experience this with the things they love the most.
The movie hasn't come out yet and I dare say that it will live up to the expectations of the first one, something that almost no other movie achieves with part 2.
Jenna Ortega has really managed to stamp the role of modern day goth cool that Winona Ryder and Johnny Depp did in the 80's and 90's. She's a talented actress and I enjoy what she brings to a project like this, it's always a risk to bring a new character into an established franchise but she put her own spin on it.
I loved listening how Tim came to be from the very beginning, with Disney and onward. I've always felt weird in a creative sense. Generally, I was always the outcast. It's always refreshing to see others who exude such creative energies. Rather than pure isolation. I would love to work with him one day.
It is so amazing what they did. They went back to the same town in VT to film most of the scenes before the pandemic in the USA. Only the final scenes were done on a sound stage when COVID hit. They brought back part of the old cast with some new additions. Michael Keaton ad libbed many lines in the first film, but the script was so much better this time he said he did not ad lib as much (but still did it some). No CGI was used again and it is all puppets and human run contraptions. It is a film I am actually looking forward to seeing.

How great seeing these beautiful people back together after 36/37 years! With new and old faces, we really can't wait to see how everyone has grown up and what Beattleju... has been upto! Thank you for the interviews and getting me excited to see the movie next month!
Many of them aren't people. They are clones. Why do you worship fakery and deception.
Beetlejuice scares me as a kid back 36 yrs ago lmao but im so excited to watch and be scared again!!! Lmaoooo😂

It’s been sooooo long! We are so ready for this! 💚🍿 #BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice
R.I.P. Bob for those that have watched this already.
Thanks for including bob!🤣
I’m stoked AF!!!! CAN NOT wait to see this! Yeeeeeeee
Enjoy every minute. #BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice 💚🍿
I am glad they (whoever) are making a big deal of this film!

@@iHollywoodTVOfficial Don't say it for the third time
Jenna Ortega has really managed to stamp the role of modern day goth cool that Winona Ryder and Johnny Depp did in the 80's and 90's.
She was so great in this film wynona is a great actress
Thank you for the laughter you gave us earlier when we watched it! ❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it! #BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice
Excited to see how Tim portrayed himself as Lydia in this second movie.
Why do you think this?
He did indeed mirror his life and career choices in the character.
I'm so glad they made a sequel, and winona your so beautiful we all hav missed u.
I love Tim Burton movies! He is a true Arturo. I can’t wait for this movie.
Tim Burton ➕ Michael Keaton
Tim Burton ➕Johnny Depp
🟰 BRILLIANCE every time ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Saw it today. It was amazing! Congratulations to all of you!
