Colleen Atwood is the QUEEN of Hollywood costuming. She's just heads and shoulders above the rest. The gown she made for the big reveal in Sleepy Hollow, I am still not over. Just amazing, incredible work.
I have always loved Colleen. Side note: I was a background actor on a film and they had me wear a green silk dress that was part of a rental from warner bro.'s. The dress was previously worn by Sandra Bullock in a different film. I love how that happens. :)
I highly bet that Colleen Atwood is going to get another Academy nomination, because she really knows to capture a creativity full of eccentric elegance for every wardrobe she has created in every project developed by Tim Burton. For the moment, my favorite works about her are “Sleepy Hollow”, “Chicago”, “Lemony Snicket”, “Memoirs of a Geisha”, “Sweeney Todd”, “Alice in Wonderland”, “Snow White and the Huntsman”, “Into the Woods”, “Dark Shadows”, “Fantastic Beasts and where to find them”, “Miss Peregrine and the Peculiar Boys”, “Dumbo”, “Wednesday” and “The Little Mermaid”.
i like when his striped pants were tucked into the combat boots better, personally. a detail few seem to notice, but i think really sells the sort of rebel vibe the og film had.
Although the stripes are iconic, I have always absolutely adored Betelgeuse's wine-red wedding tux. Colleen Atwood was the first name in the opening credits at which I giddily squealed.
Colleen is brilliant and a very nice lady. In 2001 I was an ape soldier in Burtons planet of the apes. She helped dress me one day. Super nice. Couldn’t believe it.
i more curious why the his hair seem to look worse in this film, cannot explain it just , it seems off🤔. didnt notice the eye makeup. i really love movie overal was very surprised by it. I especially loved the first scene where his Ex comes out of a box😊
The reason is very simple: Makeup for film is completely different from makeup for digital cinema. In film, purple was necessary for lighting effects on camera since the film is less sensitive than digital sensors and they were not visible to those of us who saw the film on VHS or television. But in digital cinema, These lighting effects are done in post.
@@ArtMediaStation same, the original costumes overall were better, even the little details like the 4 watches on his wrist to the little buttons on the tie that went down, the new one felt more like a parody costume or a party city costume that was aged a little
This is a Polish woman, Maria Skłodowska-Curie. She was a Polish scientist who lived in France. She was very proud of being Polish. There is a mistake in the film.
@@deadpool-s3s Have you seen the movie? In the movie Jenna Ortega said that Marie Curie was French. And that's not true. She was Polish living in France. You're talking about things you have no idea about, just shut up

She must come with a hefty price to work with.
Head and shoulders above the rest, like her Head Shrinker suits!

The lewks she served styling the black parade band uniforms is by far my favorite work of Colleen Atwood 😍😍
You mean MCR's?
Wait, she styled My Chemical Romance?!!!
Mónica and Lydia’s wedding dresses are ICONIC 🖤♥️💍

Colleen Atwood is the absolute GOAT of costuming!!!!!!!!!!
Colleen Atwood is an absolute legend! As I look through her long list of previous projects its literally the gallery of my favourite films!!
such a good movie, with SO many unique characters - some getting just a few seconds of screentime. what a fantastic job she did!
The looks for this movie were so excellent. Everyone and everything looked amazing! Well done Ms Atwood!
Love this insight! Such a huge Beetlejuice fan!
Love getting a glimpse behind the scenes!
Yes, same!
I love how she explained how the garments looked used!

I can't believe that suit Beetlejuice wears is silk blend when it looks like polyester... sorcery!
Looking forward to seeing this movie 🙌 🍿

Colleen Atwood was named a Disney Legend this year 🖤
This was such a great behind-the-scenes. I loved seeing these costumes close up, seeing the different textures and weathering details.. Thank you!
Colleen Atwood x Tim Burton x Jenna Ortega. Love this trio now from Wednesday and Beetlejuice. 😊
Colleen Atwood is the queen of costumes❤❤❤❤❤ absolutely love her so much 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Looking forward to seeing the movie-especially the costumes; Colleen Atwood is a genius 😊😊😊😊
So engaging! She is super inspiring!
I just wanna know why they changed Michael’s eye make up from purple and black to now just black. Did anyone else notice this?

Colleen Atwood is like our generation’s Edith Head. She’s amazing.
They should have shot it on a camera from the 80s
Agree!
I agree. It would have helped with the campy look and feel.
What an HONOR to narrate this short doc on Colleen Atwood's creative vision for "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice', thank you InStyle! 🎤
Not to get too sartorially technical but I noticed that the new Beetlejuice suit has peaked lapels whereas the original had plain notched lapels . . .
The devil’s in the details!
MY FAVORITE CHARACTER OF ALL TIME IS "BEETLEJUICE", AND I LOVE HIM SO MUCH ! !
Nice and thoughtful run down by a master costumer. Thanks.
This is amazing! Costume designers, do you test the fabric in different lighting to see how it will look on camera before making the costume?
I like more beetlejuice boots from the first one, they gave more on the crazy edge looking way
It looked cooler...very punk.
Same I also liked how the suit pants tucked into the boots
@@josephf3713 that gave him some crazy edge, don't know they changed it

@@ZOSO53 I preferred the hair and the teeth in the original, but I thought the mould looked dirtier and more natural in the new one
Colleen Atwood dressing Monica Bellucci is why I go the cinema.
i wonder why tim didn't go back to the original designer? is she retired now?
She’s 80, I hope she’s enjoying retirement.
@@blessedANDunimpressed oh wow, yes, i hope she's enjoying it too!
Yes, I have wondered the same.
Wow. great interview.
ICONIC🎉😮
I love Astrid Halloween costume❤
Dream job
COLLEEN!!!! ✨👸
Love, love and ❤
I always thought BeetleJuice's suit was a reference to Sherwood "Shakey" Johnson. Founder of Shakey's Pizza chain in California.
❤
The original Beetlejuice stripe costume looked better, and the combat boots looked cooler. Such an iconic costume. The new one is ok, but not as good.
I thought the new suit looked frumpy .should have tried to make it like the first movie .
When you look at the IMDB for the costume dept. Maggie Rogers' name is not listed, but why? So unfair.
I know I'm over reacting but the collar change on the Striped suit really disturbs me. XD

The movie is not a history lesson
@@deadpool-s3s but he mentions a historical figure. And this should be done in accordance with the facts. what if he said that Hitler was black?

Actually her name is Maria SKŁODOWSKA- curie. She was Polish and she married a French guy.
Loved the film and costumes. I worked with Colleen and Tim on a film and they were both wonderful. :)
