Factories inside of THAT?!?!
HOLY CRAP! Its a real life miniature WH40K Hive.
sorry the upload was late
scheduler was a day ahead I guess GRRRR WRRRRRRRRR
Pretty much any kind of cyberpunk-ish metropolis you see in movies are basically all based on Kowloon Walled City.
If I remember that's where the shadowrun Hong Kong game is
Don't forget Kai Tak Airport. Back then you could see an aircraft right above your head. Strangely, there was no accident.
not really but some are
I was just about to leave a comment wondering how much of cyberpunk 2077 was inspired by this, but it seems you beat me to it. It looks almost like parts of it are perfect replicas.
😊😊😊@@timothyarmstrong9351
Remember those big projects lately are planning to make Buildings like this. It seems like they never seen this place and thought that it is a good idea.
There is a Game based on this place. Kinda cool Dystopian place but scary at the same time. It was run by syndicates and mafia-like groups.
I have to ask, but do you remember the name of this game
@@louissteyn6871 I forgor, I only saw that played by Insym. It is a game reimagined a small part of this place.
@@louissteyn6871 *Welcome To Kowloon* that's the name.
@@aoihitori thanks, I'll look it up, might be interesting
One of the reasons Kowloon City atracted so many was cause they didn't pay taxes.
Hence why there were a bunch of factories and restaurants and doctors and dentist, both licenced and unlicenced. Hence why People tokerated living there
So even if make a city like Kowloon city but make people pay taxes, chances are none will want to live there
Dredd was inspired by this city. Alot of the city architecture is similar in the comics.
I can see how many dystopian arcologies would be inspired by Kowloon
cant believe they made a hive city from 40k into reallife
Think this inspired the Ghost in the Shell Setting for Tokyo in the future aswell
I agree, there is a lot of similarity to New Port City. Like a hybrid of Kowloon and Tokyo.
We British were very forward-thinking when we named the first opium war.
world is not overpopulated, we are just really bad at space utilization to its fullest
Sure, aslong as you don’t want things like sunlight or an efficient drainage system. But if you enjoy living in small spaces in the dark surround by shit then don’t let your dreams be dreams man.
Overpopulation doesn't mean just space, it also means resources and energy...
I'm pro depopulation, just stop producing, retire the current living when they reach retirement age, and pump out perfect engineered clones and AI powered robots, we don't need the old humanity that relied on impossible RNG and human relationships to produce a minimally capable human.
overpopulation has nothing to to with space problems.
At least in the current discussion.
It is about resource consumption and production.
Eg.: Can we produce enough food for the future.
Also about inderict problems this consumption and production bring.
Like climate change -> eg. food produchion uncertainties, more destruction due to weather and animal species that can't adapt.
space discussion is about, sealing environmental and farming areas for unnecesary stuff
@@decrulez Now imagine certified contruction workers, plumbers, city planners and architects along with other pro's instead of desperate war-refugees building such city.
@@Teronix100i would argue that utilization of space is a very important aspect of all those things you mentioned, for example food uncertainty, while mostly due in my opinion to chaotic situation many food producers face: taxes, ground pollution, armed conflicts etc. , is caused in part by our overreach into what would be excellent farm land and cutting that space for land developers, going further and further,
I do agree with you on your points, but there always was something about things like abandoned buildings that frustrated me, such a waste
If anyone wants to know more about kowloon, theres a book called "city of darkness" which a professional photographer went in and took a bunch of fascinating photos of the place and held interviews with residents and city workers about kowloon, theres a really interesting interview with an electrician who worked there on the book's website.
Well worth a look.
When she does her signature "erm" I always imagine pulling her tail as if starting a lawn-mower. After a few pulls, it's like "errrrrrrrrrrrrrm"
American favourite system of measurement: football fields, along side the state of Texas
Soft fluffy fox ears ❤
OMG yes! OP video is so good, it isn't surprising Alana reacted to it.
It's kind of interesting that the UK just handed over Hong Kong to the CCP as the deal they had of returning it was with Taiwan.
We couldn't be arsed to defend it plus owning other countries is looked down at.
> Eventually, the British colony was returned to China.
> The People's Republic of China, not the Republic of China, that the People's Republic overthrew and still exists today, or Imperial China's Qing Dynasty, that the Republic of China overthrew, who actually wrote the agreement with Britain.
History really makes you wonder how any of these people justify things to themselves.
They don't, that's what the normies cannot understand. Justification is not a consideration whatsoever. The only right out there is might.
Those last few minutes are pure cope from the original video. We know that living things go insane when densely packed, even if everyone’s needs are met. And we all know that China doesn’t meet the needs of the majority of their citizens.
I lived on the coast of Texas. So i get what Alana means with smog days.
yeah kowloon is a nightmarish dystopia...
Honestly, it looks pretty cool
The crazy thing was, it was a LIVING city. Because it was so dense like that, there was no city planning. Shops and routes would gradually change over time and the only maps were the ones in a resident's memories. You'd go *through* an apartment building, down some stairs onto a path with a shop and doors, go back up another flight of stairs... Just to get to somewhere that was technically next door. Add in the constant soft glow of electric lights and darkness softening the edges, a strong sense of community even among the criminal element... For all its dangers and issues, the former residents all look back on it fondly, with a sort of romanticized view. Super interesting to study!
I fought in the Kumite before the city was demolished
Alternate video title "Asmongold plays SimCity!"
Nebula is an amazing service actually.
I am new here. i like your videos. Keep up the good work 👍
So many cyberpunk cities are inspired by Kowloon.
The smell was probably not even noticeable by the residents. It’s the same kinda thing as a not cat owner entering a house with cats. Like if you our I were to go into a place like that, the smell would be sickening but to the people living there, they were used to the smell. The cat thing was just an example.
Recreate kid nation in a town like this and get Jimmy to lead them.
Never knew Lana had such a big ass tail
Is this an actual hive city? That's insane lol.
There are some good history series on youtube if you wan to know more about the opium wars. I recommend EH, but there are others.
seriously somone need to source the original noises she makes at the beginning of every vid. like where is the stream she made that?
When her tail blocks half the video 😂
the closest thing to a hive world we got.
Kind of reminds me if scp 184 or refered to as the architect
it looks like "the hole" from dorohedoro
Do more Jontron please❤
Yo fellas I'm new to Alana. Why multiple times in every video she makes, she says "errrrrm". What is that?
She's obviously flexing her Rrrs
ESL maybe?
I've heard of Kowloon but I genuinely didn't know it was a legit real place o__o I thought it was a made up city...
Don't let her find the city from library of Ruina/ limbus company 😅
Guess I know where the Stacks from Ready Player One was based on!
Its a 40k hive city.
Bet Hong Kong wishes it still was in British hands.
From what I understand, the Idea of just being Independent is even more stronger
Depends on demographics, certain age groups tend to lean harder towards the monarchist movement (aka returning to Britain) than the independence movement, either way the vast majority of Hong Kong just want to get away from China for obvious reasons.
That is the fattest tail I've ever seen.
smal scale actual hive city from 40k universe xd
reminds me of dogtown from cyberpunk phantom liberty xD
Great video smu
and it was taken down if i rem right
Kumate Kumate Kumate
weact
I think that L.A. is not good.
Alana is a OG gamer "i build for China" old command and conquer generals line
“The densest city on Earth” Wow, must be pretty stupid to be that dense.
