    The logic of him not bringing up he drank the 12 energy drinks to the doctors was because he was sure he was as ‘built different’ in regards to processing caffeine. He ignored it as being a cause.

    21:03 It should be noted that in cases where the patient survives, Chubbyemu will specify whether they made a _full_ recovery, or _a_ recovery, meaning this guy didn't make it out without permanent damage somewhere.

      And i remember there been some minor drama about him making the story more positive by claiming that someone survived, even if in reality they died. I didn't check up on this claim or anything, so not sure if it's true or not.

      @@MidWitPride He told a fictionalized version of that one story where a woman drank a ton of water to win a Wii in a radio contest, changing the ending so she survived. I'm assuming this was to illustrate what could have been done in a best case scenario, but I'm not sure.

    Most of Chubby Emu's stories are either real or based on medical papers that may or may not be referring to a single or multiple cases.
    Even if the scenario itself is made up sometimes, his videos are so informative, it is always a great watch. And he makes these reenactments with actors and guests, it is great.

    For reference, most energy drinks are served in either 12 or 16 oz cans. So this guy consumed somewhere between 144 and 192 oz (or 2.25-3 gal) of fluid in 10 minutes. That'd be dangerous even if it was just water.

    • @dead-claudia
      @dead-claudia 8 месяцев назад +7

      and bc it's mostly fluid with little salt, it's very possible that extreme overhydration could've caused his salt levels to drop too low. and his symptoms very mych overlap with those linked to too-low salt levels.
      energy drinks do often have electrolytes, so depending on the formula, you might get enough salt anyways

    Damn, although I have a similar situation with caffeine not really affecting me that much, I wouldn't dream of drinking that many energy drinks at once at my current age of 35. Hell, I don't really drink ANY energy drinks these days (mostly because all the modern ones taste like shit)... though when I started High School back in 2003, I was regularly downing 3 Rockstar Energy drinks per day. I was also attending LAN parties 2x a year around that time and I would drink 2-3 bottles of Bawls or Blue Raspberry Jolt there in addition to the 2-3 other energy drinks early in the day. The only time I ever had an incident with caffeine was at one of those LAN parties when I decided to take part in a Starcraft 1 tournament. I cannot remember just how many energy drinks I had had that day total, but as my tournament started at around Midnight, I only remember playing the first match after which everything after was a complete blur. My next solid memory was waking up in my bed at home with no recollection of how I got there and also sitting next to me was a brand-new Geforce 8800 video card that I had apparently gotten for placing second in that SC1 tourney. I had been rocking a Geforce 5300 up till that point so getting that new video card was a tremendous boost to my computer.
    But as the years went by and I got older, most of my most beloved energy drinks ended up being discontinued and I just stopped drinking them. Godspeed to Blue Raspberry Jolt, Bawls, and a strange energy drink called "Big Ol' Can of Whoopass" that defined my teenage years.

    When i was a teenager and playing video games with a friend i bought 5 BFCs energy drinks and drunk all 5 in 1 night if not then probably 30 minutes or so. But my heart started pumping faster and faster but luckily it stopped after i started drinking some water. But since then I just drink 1 monster or i don't drink them at all

    There are times when things happen and there really isn’t a good reason for it. This is not one of them. He knew the daily recommended limit and treated it like any other food label which he probably also ignores.

    • @legacysage
      @legacysage 8 месяцев назад

      A part of that for me was previous secondhand experiences with doctors and how they seemed to dismiss people so easily It took me to the point where I was ready to die before I was like, "Yeah, whatever. We'll see what they have to say." I couldn't eat, drink, lay down or even sleep. The only rest was when I passed out exhausted from the pain and I still had to do that sitting up. To be fair I was dismissed 2-3 times before one of the imaging people was like, "Holy shit. You need to go to the hospital NOW." Rushed into surgery a few days later. Still alive so that's nice, I guess.

    see... part of the problem is NOT the caffene itself... its literally all the other shit that energy drinks and coffee stick into their products nowadays... you have to have panera energy drink levels of caffene before it starts adversely affecting you, but also... everything in moderation, as you said.

    • @Toastybees
      @Toastybees 8 месяцев назад +3

      It's absolutely just the caffeine. Why are you being so vague? What other things?
      A small energy drink can have anything from 100-200 mg of caffeine. The recommended safe limit is 400 mg. He drank 12, far beyond what's in a charged lemonade from Panera, giving himself caffeine poisoning.

    • @DistractedGlobeGuy
      @DistractedGlobeGuy 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Toastybeesthere's less caffeine in most of these products than taurine-which is also more potent.
      In this particular case, the critical spark was the _interaction_ of both caffeine _and_ sugar in ridiculous excess.
