  • Kevin Zhiwei Hu's TEDx talk addresses the emotional impact of being separated from family across countries and the influence of cultural norms on family relationships. He shares his own struggles with isolation and strained connections due to a lack of communication. Drawing on a study about family roles, he highlights the importance of open, compassionate dialogue to strengthen bonds and overcome feelings of loneliness. Kevin encourages being open with loved ones to build stronger, healthier relationships. In his 20s, he has lived in four countries on average, and has been separated from his family in four places. Now he is currently a student in University of Sheffield, as both an Academic Representative of Economics Department and Undergraduate Student Ambassador. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I feel the same thing. I always afraid of having a phone call with my mom because I just don't want to talk anything that might disappoint her. This speech made me think a lot about my family relationship.
